  • The Path To Productizing Your Services
    You've most likely heard the term productized service before and there's a lot of varying opinions on what productized means, but I really want to dumb it down for you and simplify, so that we can have an ongoing conversation around what it actually means.
    To me, a productized service is when you take what you're doing for your clients and you're able to not only sell it but also start to deliver it like a product, like a physical product.

    I'm looking into productized web design service.
    I only want to offer 5 page websites. I think 5 pages for a local business is enough. Ill also be adding a blog page that i will update once a month.
    It also comes with unlimited edit requests... hosting.. domian.. professional email address and policy laws.
    The problem I'm having is pricing. This is a subscription based. They can cancel anytime due to not using a contract.
    Any suggestions on pricing. I'm from the uk if that helps

    Hi Greg, I work at a digital marketing agency, the area I'm struggling with is a fixed outcome. Because there are so many competitors and variables for each client, the forecast of what we KPIs we can achieve will be different for each client. Is there a way of looking at this in a fixed way?

    • @gregoryjhickman
      @gregoryjhickman  ปีที่แล้ว

      well it starts with only seliing one offer with one outcome/transformation.
      So what do you currently do for clients? what is the specific result for the specific client?

    Hey Greg, I ran a lead generation agency which we're looking to productize. Part of our offer is our client's ability to convert a lead to a client. I'm struggling to formulate a fixed outcome and deliverable when there's an element that's out of my control. I plan on doing training to manage expectations and also guide the client on how to use our systems. But how would I package this given this challenge?

    • @gregoryjhickman
      @gregoryjhickman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either price based on what you control, and set better expectations,or acquire the skill to manage and control more of the process and price accordingly.

      @@gregoryjhickman thanks man, good insight. How would you price something like lead gen where lead costs vary from month to month? My concept is to package the media costs into the MRR but I'm nervous about costs going up in a month and us making a loss. I see this a bit different to say a logo design agency who's costs are a lot more fixed.

    Hi Greg! Great video! My productised service is £60k. Do you believe in providing a payment plan, or getting the full payment up front? The delivery time is 3 months for the client.

    • @gregoryjhickman
      @gregoryjhickman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends. You could offer a pay In full discount for $50k.
      Or split pay. Or 3 payments. Depends on the deliverable. The promised result. The value etc.
      Terms should work for both you and the buyer.

    Hlo Greg , loved your video.want to ask how productized service is different from digital products like consulting and courses.as you have seen in ladder of wealth creation by Nathan Barry.

    • @gregoryjhickman
      @gregoryjhickman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think most go from service -> productized service -> to consulting -> product. Nowadays I think there is actually more of an opportunity for a hybrid. So I think about the scalable delivery ingredients of each and how can they be combined. There can be parts of a productized service that starts with consulting then goes into the service.
      Traditionally I think a productized service simply means Pre-Defined solution that solves a pre-defined problem, for a pred-defined price, with a pre-defined outcome,, with pre-defined scope delivered in a pre-defined amount of time.
      thus there could be productized consulting. Consult on one specific thing.
      As you move to online programs and digital products like courses - you package that IP into a curriculum that can be consumed on-demand. So, I think the convo is more about how 'sclable' is the deliverable. Make sense?
