Cool to see an SV review. We tend to see mostly top trim and heavily optioned vehicles given for review. I like Nissan trucks, but there's no excuse for a non telescoping steering wheel in 2022. Things like LED headlights should be standard on a mid trim like the SV. Some weird choices, but I'm glad it's still a simple truck... naturally aspirated V6 with power going to the correct wheels, a truck seating position, etc.

This truck is only relevant as a high spec model. The lower spec models take you back to 2010. It’s insulting. How in the world can this be 36k in 2022 with halogen reflectors NO 4x4 with no telescoping. 2016 Tacoma looked more modern than this. 0-60 is the same if not slower than Tacoma.

Agree 100%. I find it amazing today that a large corporation misses so many of the "little things" as you mentioned. Why? Why no telescoping wheel? Why no LED standard lights?
Sure... $$$$$ But??? I wish they would stop trying to max-out the top trims and give the consumer more of what they really want. Build the right truck and people will gravitate to it.

I bought the 22 frontier Pro X with luxury package every option except 4x4. But it has the off-road tires and suspension obviously. It’s equivalent to the Tacoma TRD off-road 4x2. Which I have had 2 of those and with the new design of the frontier I figured I would give it a shot. I really appreciate Japanese manufacturing. Only gripe is it doesn’t have the Rear diff locks like the 4x2 TRD off-road. Other than I love it and it’s the most powerful in its class has good pep, which I feel like titans and frontiers have always had.

As much of a lopsided comparison this may be to many, I actually bought the 2022 Frontier SV 4x2 BECAUSE I could not find a Maverick OR Santa Cruz for less than what I paid for my truck. I was really just after the bed for quick loading of 4 mountain bikes and 4 people, and just slightly more capacity than a compact CUV, hence the draw to the Maverick or Santa Cruz. However, only the Frontier was a available at MSRP and I actually found a dealer that went $1000 below that for my SV without the tech/advanced safety package.
It’s a simple, tech-free truck, which for the utilitarian purpose I want to use it for week-in/week-out, is perfect. Yeah, the economy is around 19 mpg in town, but a recent 1000 mile trip has returned a calculated 23 mpg, just 1 mpg below the max EPA rating-but it’s a 310 bhp V6 with a tow rating over 6500 lbs, so that’s not bad at all. Compared to the long-in-the-tooth auto of the equivalent V6 Tacoma that hunts for gears on a 4% grade, the 9 sp auto on this Frontier downshifts and stays in gear.

It's kind of hard to compare a truck that's $20,000 for the base model and gets 44 miles per gallon to a truck that's $30000 and gets 20 miles per gallon. For off-road use yes I would definitely take the Nissan as I've had a frontier and an extra before and they are fantastic off-road but for everyday just local get around driving on pavement I think the Maverick has the edge.

This truck would compare more to the Ranger rather than the Maverick. The Nissan is a great looking truck but that being said, I'd have to compare the legroom front & back to the Ridgeline, Ranger, Colorado and Tacoma. This SV does have great towing & payload specs however. Also, you can't argue with the great V6. I think the only truck that compares to the Maverick is the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Personally... not needing a "off roader", I"m going with the Ridgeline all day long. Thanks Joe & Lori for your great reviews!!

I consider this a medium size truck that competes against the Ridgeline, etc. This is much more powerful than the Maverick, and bigger capacities. The drastic price difference with the low end Maverick does show that the Maverick is in a separate category, one that has been empty since the "chicken tax" killed off the cheapo imported trucks. It's somewhat sad to me that the Japanese vehicles just got larger, heavier, more powerful, their MPG dropped, and of course became way more expensive. I can remember as a youth seeing the early Toyota trucks that looked like toy vehicles, because their wheels were like 12 inches or something dinky. Those mini trucks still exist in Japan, but alas are not permitted here for various reasons, not the least of which Japan has no intention of letting us get off that cheap!

The Frontier is a better truck than the Maverick because the Frontier is based on a truck platform, while the Maverick is based on a front wheel drive Ford Escape crossover SUV platform, which should have gotten a lot of zonks because of that

With that being said I should be picking my Maverick up within the next couple weeks.

If you want something to last for long time get a horse.
Both Maverick and Frontier quality vise are complete garbage.
Nissan was never a quality brand, each nissan car i ever had was extremely cheap build.
Only trucks which can last long is tacoma and maybe some other stuff, which will cost you 2x times.
If you compare this nissan to maverick, its simple choice - Maverick.
20k to 28k for similar vehicle.
And for loaded version, you can buy 2 mavericks, just in case if 1 breaks.
This Nissan is the same price as Tacoma, it means its a no brainer. I would choose Tacoma without even thinking.
I am getting maverick, and i do not expect from it to last for 200k miles.
