Moonveil is an elegant Blade for a civilized time. Rivers of Blood on the other hand? Now that´s a blade for a true barbarian. A Blade worthy of a Legend.
That feeling when I got teleported in Caleid without levelups or Torrent as a prophet, found Gravity katana and stumbled upon this katana by sheer fucking luck. Imagine my surprise when, turns out, I accidentally got myself a great build. Catch flame + Meteorite Blade + Moonveil... so good.
I took Moonveil into the DLC, it having been a trusty companion for most of my playthrough. For the most part, it held up alright but it started showing it's age in boss fights. Too slow and not enough damage for this new breed of FAST AF BOOOOI boss. Had to get with the times and get new toys. Initially found success with the two Great Katanas but as soon as I got access to them I've equipped Relanna's Twin Blades and haven't looked back.

See, I always kept Moonveil in my back pocket for when I needed something speedy. SNAF and Astel hit like trucks against big targets, but they're way too slow for the fast af brigade. And sure enough, I've had to break it out for Messmer and Gaius, who, after some blue-tinged persuasion, gave me their remembrances.
Real ones know that the OBJECTIVE Best Weapon is the Lucerne because it proves that in the lore of Elden Ring somewhere out there in the lands between is Lucerne, Switzerland.
I just figured out a couple months ago that it's one of if not the best weapon on horse back. Motion values really helps certain weapons in certain situations.
With my samurai, I have been using Moonveil more as a support weapon to a Cold Nagakiba. Apply chilling mist and proc frost, dual wield with Moonveil. Switch to using transient moonlight to get that DPS.
I used Moonveil up until I found the Claws of the Night and changed to a bleed build. With the new armour which increases attack power it just utterly melts anything with bleed. You can melt things 100 yards away with its throwing ash of war. Bosses bleed in 3 hits of that.
Loved the video. Funny at the beginning wen u were talking about it being like a paint brush, that is exactly how i hav always felt about rivers of blood. A beautiful shade of red instead of blue.

When I found Moonveil, I'd been spoiled as to its existence. But not its location. I entered and ran Gail Tunnel completely unaware of the fact that the reward for beating its boss was the Moonveil. So it was perhaps understandably a bit of a shock when I beat the apparently-random Magma Wyrm and received it. I was pretty excited, though, since it was a perfect fit for the build I was working towards.
Even tho many people despises Moonveil and what not? I still love it and use it. Its just better unsheath imho and makes me feel like Vergil. I love my Vergil Motivated Sword. :3
I don't think it needs nerfed any more. I also think they didn't need to nerf the art of war (for PvE) as players should just be allowed to have fun in the way they chose. Fair enough, for competitive PvP, things are likely very different, but this isn't my thing. I just like playing Solo.
When I played with my friends, one of them just equipped Blasphemous Blade in her off hand and kept it in her back the entire time just for the passive healing, You don't even need to use that thing, it just does stuff by itself
Moonveil is definitely good but it’s not overpowered. Guts greatsword with lions claw is far easier to use for a new player and just destroys bosses. If you really build into your poise and damage resistance you can easy mode the whole game.

I think the main reason that Moonveil got the reputation it did is because you can literally just run and get it and get it to +9 in like 30 minutes. Then you get a weapon with insane poise damage and bleed on it at almost max level at essentially the beginning of the game. Overall I don't think it's actually THAT powerful compared to some other top tier weapons but considering its position in the game it's hard to beat. I think the normal katana is overall better lol. Smithing stones just suck.
I used siluria's tree weapon art for %90 of 1 of my playthroughs my previous playthrough NG+4 Duskborn ending i mainly used the dragon incantations with the dragon communion seal +10 as a lvl374
ive actually never played as an intelligence build of any kind. i usually go magick or sorcery in RPG's so i figured i'd do something else in Elden Ring. i've done pure faith. strength+dex, blood build. now im trying Hammer/thrusting sword + Great Shield combo.
it's just right but i was hoping for a vergil type of sword can we get a charge effect for after? and carry the mobs and do damage while doing so plox?
i found that the moonveil fell off at endgame in my first int playthrough, but by then, i had the darkmoon greatsword, so i was chillin (dad joke most certainly intended lol). for anyone who doesn't want to screw around with the magma wyrm for a very long fight: pick up meteorite staff and rock sling in street of sages ruins, kill greyoll near fort faroth with bleed for runes, pump int, and you're good to go. just make sure you have a melee sidearm, preferably with high crit, to take advantage of staggers. depending on how much prep you're willing to do, you can get the int and dex tears in liurnia and really give him the business. if that sounds like a pain, or the katana move set isn't tickling your fancy, you can cheese the death bird in southern caelid from the nearby giant's skull with holy pots for the death's poker, which is (imo) a superior weapon to the moonveil. it has a unique running R2 that slaps, the aow has 3 versions, either L2 on it's own or R1 and R2 follow ups, it procs frost very efficiently, and stays relevant all the way through end game and even the dlc. just ignore the tooltip when it comes to scaling the damage of the aow and make int your primary damage stat. keep literally anything that does fire damage on your person to reset the frost during long boss fights (which there won't be many of lol) to reproc it and chunk them down. or, a 5 head tactic if you're not doing a dedicated int build but can squeeze out enough points to use the weapon (which isn't hard with all the int boosting helms in the game and the int tear), you can still use it for frost, which makes the enemy take more damage from you. one of my fav large boss melting maneuvers is to proc frost, then switch to something multi-hit that i'm actually spec'd for (envoy's longhorn aow and ancient dragon lightning both come to mind, but many others would work well) and boom, no more dragon, tree avatar, seed beast, or whatever.
Moonveil is so strange man. People yell at the top of their lungs about it being OP but when I got it even before the nerfed I just scoffed and put it away because my Nagakiba out damaged it with the same ash of war WITH high blood loss buildup.
I'm more worried worried about dealing with a naked player wield a dagger than dealing with someone using moonveil. But that also could just be the dark souls 3 trauma talking

for me it was the Bolt of Gransax. It changed the game for me. I never got past the first town in Dark Souls cause i dropped the game after dying a shit ton of times. But my friend convinced me to give Elden Ring a try. pitching in half of the money to buy it so they could play it on my system too. I made the dumbass mistake of thinking i could take Varre right out of the fucking gate. As you know, i got my ass kicked. Worse part is i grabbed the grace right before talking to him and getting roasted. So i respawned right next to him and hed auto agro, kicking my ass on loop for half a fucking hour. I almost quite the game. But then the youtube algorithm recomended a guide to leveling up weapons and the location of their stones. So i then went into the rabit hole of best weapons in the game. When i saw that bolt, i lost it. i NEEDED that. so i found a guide on how to wrong warp and grab it. Which i did. i then leveled it up, and took on the Margit. Took me some tries but eventually i got him. then Morgot. and with the runes i got off them i leveled up and speced intro the right stats. From there i finally began the journey of learning what getting gud meant. and man was it fun. im glad i didnt give up. and im glad cheating into somewhere i shouldnt be and grabbing early something i should be able to grab, helped me get there. i love that this game can be enjoyed by everyone if they just find a way around their obstacles. for me it was obtaining something cool and strong. for others its getting runes dropped for them to spec into a good build. for others its Bloodhound Step. that was the second game changer for me. beat the DLC with its aid
Rivers of blood with shard of alexander, ritual sword talisman, at +10 with 80 arcane and 80 dex, then pop flame grant me strength. That is the most damaging build possible, I literally have a video where I take out half of Malenia's HP with 1 ash of war on NG+. And it kills most players in 1 ash of war. Another strongest build is giant crusher + royal knight's resolve with raptor's black feathers and claw talisman/ritual sword talisman, at +25. Pop RKR, then do a jumping R2 and you'll do 2k damage in PVP, and 4k+ in PVE. Also you can do howl of shabriri but it makes you a glass cannon, and I'd suggest just using blackflame protection.
New to From and ER. I attained this weapon many moons ago (pun intended), and thought nothing of it. I am using a strength and dex build, so I stored it away and carried on. It wasn't until recently that I realized the magnitude of this weapon and it's hype. I will now continue to store it and never use it, out of spite. That being said, great video man 👌 very well done.
Moonveil with Rellana's Cameo and Alexander's shard with my Int/Dex build does massive damage. I've tried my best to use some of the new weapons but moonveil has helped me win multiple boss fights now. I had to unequip it and force myself to use new weapons and new ashes of war. Moonveil=easy. (Just so people know I'm lvl 310 with Int at 90 and Dex at 60 with +10 on moonveil)
I’ve been playing this game since day one I stumbled upon this weapon. Luckily, I was using a mage build for my first build. I went through the hell area like it was nothing after I got through the starting area if I died I just went again and that boss was the first one of that boss I fought in the game eventually I did beat that boss I think I was between level 30-50 at that time and I pretty much used moonveil for the rest of my playthrough and probably one of the deadliest weapons in PVP.
ah good memory's of my NG+ playthrough where i went a dual katana build (moonveil + Rivers of blood) was so much easier then my Guts build that i used at launch before they buffed greatsword 4 or 5 times >.> now after wacking down everything with my greatsword in SOTE i'm thinkin i'll go dual katana in NG+ either sword of night + star lined sword or star lined sword and moonveil not sure yet ^^ kinda unfortunate reapers didn't get that much love in the DLC would have loved to replicate a sister friede build :P

Hot take... Lenores Poleblade > Rivers of Blood and dual Lenores Poleblade >>> Dual ROB. I feel like a WuTang Master swinging those poleblades around while doing MASSIVE BLEED and PHYSICAL damage and dancing around their attacks. The Polearm has become my favorite for my BLEED BUILD.
I never used moonveil, and my friends are confused how I went through the game without using it. Simple answer, GodSlayer's Greatsword with GodSlayer spells
I'm on my first play through (yes after 2 years) and started as a mage, finding this katana made 10x easier to kill boses, not even using mimic or magic other then the katana itself. Conclusions; pretty f#cking op I'd say.

Rellanas talisman is why it was nerfed. It works very well with it. It gives 15% or 20% damage buff. I forgot the numbers.
The dlc weapons are mostly trash except one or two.

Moonveil is fine where it is. It's not weak, yet no where near the any of the broken 1 shot weapons. It doesn't need any buff or nerfs.

Moonveil, like OG Radhan, got nerfed into the ground the first 2 weeks the game came out.

Yes it's still good with int scaling and using anything that buffs magic damage.

From there i finally began the journey of learning what getting gud meant. and man was it fun. im glad i didnt give up. and im glad cheating into somewhere i shouldnt be and grabbing early something i should be able to grab, helped me get there. i love that this game can be enjoyed by everyone if they just find a way around their obstacles. for me it was obtaining something cool and strong. for others its getting runes dropped for them to spec into a good build. for others its Bloodhound Step. that was the second game changer for me. beat the DLC with its aid
Rivers of blood with shard of alexander, ritual sword talisman, at +10 with 80 arcane and 80 dex, then pop flame grant me strength. That is the most damaging build possible, I literally have a video where I take out half of Malenia's HP with 1 ash of war on NG+. And it kills most players in 1 ash of war.
Another strongest build is giant crusher + royal knight's resolve with raptor's black feathers and claw talisman/ritual sword talisman, at +25. Pop RKR, then do a jumping R2 and you'll do 2k damage in PVP, and 4k+ in PVE. Also you can do howl of shabriri but it makes you a glass cannon, and I'd suggest just using blackflame protection.

Regular unsheathe actually has much higher total damage than transient moonlight, so I prefer it for PvE. Especially with the nagakiba
Moonveil has a C Dex and B Int scaling when further upgraded.
i feel like moonveil is just right, ashes of war are easy to dodge but maybe challenging as first and if you get it off good damage
I played moonveil for my first run. Wing of Astel makes a great 2nd weapon for moonviel. I think Astels is the most underrated weapon

Pre nerf moonveil stunned pve mobs in 2 aow R2s and stunned bosses in like 3-4. It was nuts

I can't even remember ever taking the weapon seriously and using it.
I'm currently in DLC with an int built. Mostly I use Moonveil or Great Star with Waves of Darkness. I still love Moonveil.
New to From and ER. I attained this weapon many moons ago (pun intended), and thought nothing of it. I am using a strength and dex build, so I stored it away and carried on. It wasn't until recently that I realized the magnitude of this weapon and it's hype. I will now continue to store it and never use it, out of spite. That being said, great video man 👌 very well done.
Moonveil with Rellana's Cameo and Alexander's shard with my Int/Dex build does massive damage. I've tried my best to use some of the new weapons but moonveil has helped me win multiple boss fights now. I had to unequip it and force myself to use new weapons and new ashes of war. Moonveil=easy. (Just so people know I'm lvl 310 with Int at 90 and Dex at 60 with +10 on moonveil)
I’ve been playing this game since day one I stumbled upon this weapon. Luckily, I was using a mage build for my first build. I went through the hell area like it was nothing after I got through the starting area if I died I just went again and that boss was the first one of that boss I fought in the game eventually I did beat that boss I think I was between level 30-50 at that time and I pretty much used moonveil for the rest of my playthrough and probably one of the deadliest weapons in PVP.

ah good memory's of my NG+ playthrough where i went a dual katana build (moonveil + Rivers of blood) was so much easier then my Guts build that i used at launch before they buffed greatsword 4 or 5 times >.> now after wacking down everything with my greatsword in SOTE i'm thinkin i'll go dual katana in NG+ either sword of night + star lined sword or star lined sword and moonveil not sure yet ^^ kinda unfortunate reapers didn't get that much love in the DLC would have loved to replicate a sister friede build :P

Hot take... Lenores Poleblade > Rivers of Blood and dual Lenores Poleblade >>> Dual ROB. I feel like a WuTang Master swinging those poleblades around while doing MASSIVE BLEED and PHYSICAL damage and dancing around their attacks. The Polearm has become my favorite for my BLEED BUILD.
I never used moonveil, and my friends are confused how I went through the game without using it. Simple answer, GodSlayer's Greatsword with GodSlayer spells
I'm on my first play through (yes after 2 years) and started as a mage, finding this katana made 10x easier to kill boses, not even using mimic or magic other then the katana itself. Conclusions; pretty f#cking op I'd say.
