The mechanics and flow of learning and overcoming Midir are still untouched for me. But Bayle takes the top for sheer spectacle and Igon’s passion (WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!!!)
If you don’t summon Igon and fight Solo … Bayles attack patterns are actually much more interesting to learn than Midir. Midir is pretty simple in comparison but more intuitive (which i think fromsoft neglects too much that’s why midra is the best bossfight in eldenring, more intuitive but hard) My only critism on Bayle is that it is a bit not intuitive enough and that you can only focus on his head which makes camera work unnecessary hard since more than often his head gets over you which inverts your inputs shortly and that his flying attack is a little bit too hard to dodge completely (also mainly because of either focus on him and you won’t dodge the fire wave or don’t focus and you will have a hard time to keep him in eyesight to dodge his landing)
@@TheSolarium18not at all. Mechanically, midir is WAYYY better than bayle. Bayle has few, tiny punish windows that some weapons can't even take advantage of. On top of that, the best way to fight him is either jump attacking his head (because it's too high for you to attack normally), or use the dragon great katana's ranged attack which makes the fight much less engaging. Midir on the other hand, has tons of huge punish windows that any weapon can take advantage of, and his head stays low to the ground during them so you aren't forced into a specific playstyle that not every weapon excells at. Midir is just a far better fight.
@@itsSmiv Mmhh on the one hand you are right with the punishing windows and i agree that i don’t like eldenrings specific approach that you often only have very small windows followed by nearly purely attack avoiding phases. On the other hand i think you are very overexaggerating specifically on bayle. See i used the dragon greatkatana in one hand and erdtree seal with primarely black blade incantation on the other hand. (changeable with any other damage focused ranged attack) I got an insanely great fight flow with bayle. When he uses his physical attacks just role out of them and learn how to place yourself to get an instant Weapon art attack hit on the head, followed by another quick hit on the body. then role away he will blow fire in front of him which gives you a pretty generous attack window for any range spell/incantation or weapon art. When his mouth starts to shine orange just role into him and repeat this when he blows fire just strave run to the left and into him and you can get a heavy jumpattack on his body All this attacks give you direct double attack windows when he does the distance fire wave just role into it but don’t try to attack The Fly moves on the other hand yeah good luck Needs a lot of perfect positioning and camera adjustment just to avoid. The pure fly high and land move on the other hand with the later ground explosion gives you an attack windows and especially with every jumping ash of war perfectly timed you can avoid the ground explosion You also get very generous distant attack windows after his ground AoE Midir also had a weakness to one specific sword btw And his moveset while being fun was pretty simple.

Team Dragonlord. Based on the dialogue where he is called a traitor I think it’s pretty obvious that Bayle lead a revolution and fled back to the peaksfzer losing the fight. But I have to correct you: as far as I know, the Dragonlord lost 3 heads over time (the Old Lords talisman depicts him having 5). Whether all three were Bayles doing I can’t say, but he did lose three. I am very happy to see the collaboration here. I love both of them - nicely done!
Hey Evan, I’ve been watching your videos a lot lately, and I enjoy them a lot! Your way of presenting the lore and buildup to the bosses is really enjoyable. One thing I noticed specifically here in this video (and this is completely subjective of course), is that in my opinion, you missed a chance to shift the tone of the whole video to be crazy cinematic and epic. At 15:30, the correct music (maybe some epic piano, violin, etc) could’ve really elevated the whole storytelling of yours more, your impression of Igon and introduction of his really set it up well. Again this is completely subjective, but I feel like its something to consider the next time. Great video as always though!
I genuinely enjoyed Igon and Bayle's storyline more than the main storyline of the DLC. The whole setup leading up to the fight at the top of the mountain is perfect.
One thing i noticed is that despite that fact of just being a head, a leg, a tail and three stumps, Bayle still fights with a lot of control of his actions, while Placidusax is more or less complete, he is very slow and doesn't start to fight harder until he has been wounded enough... I guess that losing those two heads was a heavy blow to him.
There is a channel named chaossilvermoon that does these bosses vs bosses battles. The differents (besides having the bosses speak dialog that they have out of cutscenes) is that every boss can be grabbed by hoarah loux. And they aren't a scrunched up mess, they act like a normal player when grabbed... So... When you see bayle get up and stand up full height after being grabbed, you will realize just how imposing bayle is. Bayle the dread, dragon lord placudisax, crippled for our sake. Because at full power, they seperately could have destroyed the erdtree, and we know damn well that they'd vaporize us.
If am not wrong Igon was such a chad that he climbed the mountain from the first place you saw him to the place where the two dragons are fighting with broken legs and arms?
i think that by becoming Elden Lord and consuming the strength of runes, that's why the Tarnished is able to commune with Dragons without becoming a Magma Wyrm or commune with Bayle without being consumed. As the Elden Lord and a literal ruler of the Lands Between, we are too strong for even Bayle to overcome, instead forcing him to lend his power to us in service to the Lord of the New Age.
That is not Placidusax's priestess. Yarr spoilers do be ahead. If you talk to Thioller before the great rune breaks and exhaust her dialogue you can go back & talk to Moore, he'll give you Black Syrup. Take that to Thioller and get Thioller's Concoction. Make sure you exhaust Igon's dialogue when you see him along the way. Speak to the dragon priestess when you get there, exhaust her dialogue. After the 2 dragons exhaust Igon's dialogue again. Then go BACK to the Grand Altar and ask the dragon priestess about Igon. Pass time at a grace until night time. Now the dragon priestess will be praying. Give the Thioller's Concoction item to her at night, this'll put her to sleep. Pass time until day (may need 2 days), or until she wakes up. It needs to be day time. Go speak to her again. She'll be distraught that she broke her oath to the Dragonlord. Kill Bayle. Immediately teleport back to the Grand Altar and talk to the dragon priestess. Confess to putting her to sleep. She requests you become her new Lord. You get Dragonbolt of Florissax and Ancient Dragon Florissax spirit ashes. If you just read all this to figure out who she is... that's the ancient dragon Florissax. There's also an item description: Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirit of Ancient Dragon Florissax. Florissax assumed this spirit form to offer her service to a new lord. Uses her own dragonbolt to increase all damage negation (including physical) for herself and nearby allies. Strikes foes with the Flowerstone Gavel's dragonbolt to reduce enemy lightning damage negation. Long ago, Florissax assumed human form to share Dragon Communion with the world. Now, she has acquired a human heart.

This turned out to be my first major boss fight. I was looking for a map fragment and convinced myself that if I just kept going, I would find it. I met Igon, went up the mountain, and, when he called me a “True Warrior” and asked me to summon him, I was amped up. I had no idea what we were on our way to fight, all I knew was that we were gonna beat it down. I had scadutree +2 or +3 because I was looking for a map fragment. Bayle killed me before I could even summon Igon. When Igon died in the fight, I would let Bayle kill me because we were gonna do triumph together and we did. Bayle you will haunt Igon no longer!
The people that try to hide the igon summon with "try skill" messages annoy me a lot. my brother in christ, they added voice lines to a summon in a game with honestly not many voice lines for its scale, im going to listen to them. nobody else cares about your edgelord "i can solo it with a wretch club" pride.
I wonder what level scadutree is recommended on fighting him, when i first fight him i was at 6 (which i considered already high) and i just shocked when his attacks literally 2 shots me. I eventually beat him but i just accidentally stumbled into the jagged peak while trying to get the map fragment which turns out nowhere near the mountain

Bayle oh, dragon of mine bring me your heart to consume
Bayle Vs Placidusax is basically Godzilla vs King Ghadora
I just can't appreciate the design enough... the fact that he lost his 2 arms and using his wings as arms to attack and balance himself and missing one leg which he uses his TAIL to walk and also balance himself is just astonishing.
The mechanics and flow of learning and overcoming Midir are still untouched for me.
But Bayle takes the top for sheer spectacle and Igon’s passion
(WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS!!!!)
If you don’t summon Igon and fight Solo … Bayles attack patterns are actually much more interesting to learn than Midir.
Midir is pretty simple in comparison but more intuitive (which i think fromsoft neglects too much that’s why midra is the best bossfight in eldenring, more intuitive but hard)
My only critism on Bayle is that it is a bit not intuitive enough and that you can only focus on his head which makes camera work unnecessary hard since more than often his head gets over you which inverts your inputs shortly and that his flying attack is a little bit too hard to dodge completely (also mainly because of either focus on him and you won’t dodge the fire wave or don’t focus and you will have a hard time to keep him in eyesight to dodge his landing)
(changeable with any other damage focused ranged attack)
I got an insanely great fight flow with bayle.
When he uses his physical attacks just role out of them and learn how to place yourself to get an instant Weapon art attack hit on the head, followed by another quick hit on the body.
then role away he will blow fire in front of him which gives you a pretty generous attack window for any range spell/incantation or weapon art.
When his mouth starts to shine orange just role into him and repeat this
when he blows fire just strave run to the left and into him and you can get a heavy jumpattack on his body
All this attacks give you direct double attack windows
when he does the distance fire wave just role into it but don’t try to attack
The Fly moves on the other hand yeah good luck
Needs a lot of perfect positioning and camera adjustment just to avoid.
The pure fly high and land move on the other hand with the later ground explosion gives you an attack windows and especially with every jumping ash of war perfectly timed you can avoid the ground explosion
You also get very generous distant attack windows after his ground AoE
Midir also had a weakness to one specific sword btw
And his moveset while being fun was pretty simple.
CURES YOU BAYLE!!!!!! was the most epic line I've heard and bayles boss music is amazing from he his first phase and till his second phase
14:45 CURSE YOU BAAAAYYYLLLLEEEE
MH trained me for this fight!
Go for the leg and never relent! His hide may be strong, but that only means we swing our tools faster and harder. Do not flinch. Do not run. onwards, fellow hunters!
Just like Fatalis. You can go for the head or belly, but the leg is safer.
17:34
30% more damage to Dragon Type enemies? Man, Lance is going to be cowering in fear after this one.
could definitely see the GRRM influence "Bayle the Dread" vs "Balerion the black Dread"
I love how the summoned wings are not a repaired version of his original wings, but an extra set. The original wings are destroyed, and he sees them as arms/weapons.
that is one of if not the most metal phase transition ever, such a legendary boss!!!
Yawn

BAYLE THE DREAD!
BAYLE THE DEAD!
NO MORE SHALL YOUR BAYLEFIRE SPREAD!
Great vid even getting Smough Town and Ziostorm was an exciting addition!
Placi has 4 and has lore reasons but is heavy spoiler
"That is like a full-on red-mana-granting Magic the Gathering mountain"
-My first reaction to the Jagged Peak
Thanks for the really good feedback, this was incredible
@@EvanExplains gladly!
I genuinely enjoyed Igon and Bayle's storyline more than the main storyline of the DLC. The whole setup leading up to the fight at the top of the mountain is perfect.
CURRRRRSSEEEE YOUUU BAYYYYYLEEE!!!! I WILL RIDDLE TOUR ROTTEN HIDE WITH A HAIL OF HARPOOOOOOONS!!!
Well his heads we're his homies, of course it was tough for him
Placidusax is also trying to commune with his god
bayle makes me rethink life when he one shots me bro 😂😂
BAYLE!
VILE BAYLE!
OH TERROR INCARNATE!
THERE IS LIFE IN ME YET!!!
If am not wrong Igon was such a chad that he climbed the mountain from the first place you saw him to the place where the two dragons are fighting with broken legs and arms?
I am Team Dread until the end of my days.
i think that by becoming Elden Lord and consuming the strength of runes, that's why the Tarnished is able to commune with Dragons without becoming a Magma Wyrm or commune with Bayle without being consumed. As the Elden Lord and a literal ruler of the Lands Between, we are too strong for even Bayle to overcome, instead forcing him to lend his power to us in service to the Lord of the New Age.
This fight was only fight in whole ER i felt bad to defeatinga boss to soon
Ssoo DAAAAAMN YOU BAYYLEEEE
Dude Igon's bow, +25 with Arrows Sting, and Arrows Reach, and Rain of Arrows AoW. Absolute red bar drainer
I personally think Midir is still the best but Igon is a true Chad and pushes fhe fight up there
That's it. My next character will be a dedicated dragon comunion build named Christian Bayle!
There's also an item description:
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Now, she has acquired a human heart.
when Igon started wailing, I about s*** my pants😂
I think that first question for me is Midir.
Music, editing and the video as a whole was amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it!

BAYLE… VILE BAAAAAAYYYYYYLLLLLLLEEE!
CURSE YOU BAYLE!
FromSoft voice actors are all awesome but Igon's voice actor is my favorite!
Still think it's Midir. Igon makes a good argument tho. Such passion in his rhetoric.
The people that try to hide the igon summon with "try skill" messages annoy me a lot. my brother in christ, they added voice lines to a summon in a game with honestly not many voice lines for its scale, im going to listen to them. nobody else cares about your edgelord "i can solo it with a wretch club" pride.
Plasidusax my number 1 dragon
Amazing video Evan! I appreciate the clear footage of how Bayle looks, it'll make painting him that much easier
All those messages who thought the abyssal woods map was there
I beat him with 3, which is insane, the scadu buff was too much, i was tank him at 3 now 🥲
6 is low.

The bayle fight itself was kind of mid in my opinion. The dragon from crown of the sunken king, the lichdragon, and midir were all better fighta in my opinion. But you cant replace igon.
He was my easiest DLC boss as an INT build. Im replaying the game on an NGsave to try dex instead, because my friends who ran strength + buff incantations made light work of him as well. I have noticed most of the streamers I watched struggling with bale were running Dex

Lintern basically lived the soulsborne experience without even playing: a long, exhausting yet satisfying experience
I had my Mimic Tear and Igon with me in the Bayle fight, and I found myself hanging back and just enjoying the spectacle of it
I haven’t managed to beat Bayle yet, but me and my mimic vs the two battling dragons right before him is probably the most fun I’ve had in a video game in years. Just total chaos, everyone getting caught in each other’s crossfires, and the battle ending with me and my mimic both on the verge of death. Then Igon pops out of nowhere to cheer about how awesome all that was.
Igon: i can't die untill bsyle is dead
Bayle: death is afraid of me
Unkindled/tarnished: i forgot how many times I died, death is my best friend
I still put Midir above Bayle, but Bayle has 100% earned his #2 spot above Placidusax, Sinh and Kalameet for me
I just came to a fun realization that I don’t think anyone has touched upon: bayle also partook of dragon communion. He’s consumed the hearts of ancient dragons, drakes, and magma wyrms. Makes sense how bayle’s element is flame lightening. He’s gained power of consuming hearts of his own Kin.
