    Will all IP modems accomodate 8 POE security cameras, nvr, outdoor security systems? Is it best to use cat. 6 cable vs cat. 5 cable, to allow for long distances to cameras and possible future upgrades to higher tech cameras?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, in fact most modems are not even PoE. You have to provide the PoE connect the cameras to that, power it and then connect the PoE to the modem. Cat6e is the best to use for security cameras.

    Using port 80 is not recommended because its heavily known and less secure so you should use different ports in your remote connection ie 192.168.0.45:415 not 192.168.0.45:80

    Which app can I use for any remote viewing on my phone

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each App is designed for each brand of product. Some Apps will work with other brands but for reliability and full function we recommend using the Apps that is referenced in your product manuals. Using a generic App may or may not give you full function but its its likely mixing brands will reduce reliability, performance and increase setup time. Hope this helps.

    what do you do when the only internet access available at the location is a GSM line, Ie. when you can only get on the internet through a router that is connected to a GSM modem for internet access. How does one configure the NVR/DVR for remote access?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      (GSM) is a standard developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). We exclusively sell and support USA based systems, GSM is tech used in Europe, unfortunately we have no experience with this and cannot offer advice. But thank you for the question.

      Its possible to do router on repeater mode and connect to mobile hotspot, then hardwire the dvr to router. For further support you can email me at johnjjesun@gmail.com

    Hi. Can a DVR or NVR be plugged into a wifi extender instead of being plugged directly into the modem/router?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Linda, great question. Our experience has been "no" you cannot. We have had many customers try it with several different systems with no luck. But that does not mean a savvy IT minded technician could not find a way to make it work. But we have had no luck using the wifi link between the NVR and router. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question.

      I'm no savvy IT minded technician, so I won't try to figure out a way to make it work then, lol. Thanks for the info.

      Yes they can. Make sure that the wifi extender is connected to the router beforehand. most wifi extenders are relatively easy to setup. I have done this many times.

    I do not have internet access at my home. However I do have a linksys wireless router with ethernet connection. From my understanding I can run my ethernet cable from the DVR to a modem and use another PC also wierd to the same modem via ethernet cable to access my DVR. My question is without internet service can I still use the wifi router like a wifi LAN? For instance could I connect my laptop via wifi to the wifi router that's wired to my DVR with the network cable to also access the dvr?

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can use your local wifi network without internet service to access. Thanks

    Hi!
    How can I solve this problem..
    The monitor in the admin is good (there's a video) but in the guard house has don't (video loss) they are using remote viewing (wifi)
    what do you think is the problem? Thank you!

      Thanks for the question. We would need considerably more information to help. Which brand is the equipment? How is the equipment connected? What is the configuration of the Wifi. It could be anything at this point but we would start by rebooting all equipment to see if a power cycle can correct the issue.

    Internet providers can't just increase the upload. Speeds are already established. Most ISP upload speeds are 3mbps.

    • @BackstreetCameras
      @BackstreetCameras  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes they can, we do it all the time. You just call them and tell them you need more upload bandwidth. Most of the time its increased in a few minutes. There are rare occasion they refuse to increase it or they may charge more but increasing the upload has been successful more times than not. Thanks
