- Port Forwarding for Hikvision Cameras for remote connection.
In this video, I explain how to set up Port Forwarding for Hikvision cameras to allow remote connection via a mobile phone or laptop on the Internet.
The process is very simple; you just need to change the camera's logical port number and create rules in the local router.
I show a practical example of Port forwarding for a Hikvision camera and a quick example of the setup of an Axis camera (Bonus).

I want to ask you. I have set up Hikvision on the machine and it is connected to my wifi wirelessly, so I can watch and control it, but it cannot be used when I change it to another vlan (I have opened all vlans in the network switch)

wouldn’t you rather set up a VPN of some kind and access the cameras through that using the original IP address? That way it is an encrypted connection and only one port requires opening, the VPN to access all cameras.

Hello. I have a Hikvision DVR and have cameras all connected. I had to upgrade to a new ISP router. I have done the Port-Forwarding and matched the same configuration from the old router but I am unable view the camera remotely from my Mobile Phone using the Apps. I do have a static IP for the router aswell. I have kept all the IP configuration same on the HikVision DVR and ports the same on the new router.
Any suggestions?

Hey man can you do a video on connecting my router to my HIK camera. Then using that log on info to access the app? I can’t find out why my admin and password under the DDNS in basic settings iN HIK doesn’t change when I physically change it. It remains even though it says saved success. But then it says server connection failed
Unfortunately I can make videos for a specific router or particular application.

I have a small store that I make a living from, and I have three workers on the cash register who rotate every 5 hours throughout the week. I want to monitor sales by transferring information to the monitoring device, for example, what are the sales, and like the names of the goods downloaded in the cash register device and their price. How can I activate this feature from Through the NVR monitor and the camera above the cache register.
What kind of device I have

Note: This feature is activated on my cash register, and it was also activated on my NVR monitoring device, but because I lost the password, I had to work for the NVR monitoring device, the company settings from the beginning and new, and then I lost these settings, so how can I set up the iStudy and Port Should the same settings be in the cache register?

For some reason this doesnt seem to work. I can connect to it with port 8081 however through external IP id doesnt seem to work. I have setup port forwarding too.

Why we do port forwarding while we can use Hik-Connect ? Any value for port forwarding ?
Good question. For some especial situation you need port forwarding. Some projects demand the use of directly connection to the company's system with no intermediatiation. I've worked with huge companies with strict IT security rules and no cloud systems such as Hik-connect was allowed. Other cases demand the use of a mix of different cameras, recorders and VMS software which doesn't fit in the proprietary cloud (Hik-connect) model. The easiest way is not always an option so professionals must understand technology in general instead of click a button here and there. IT people from big companies will certainly have a concern and discuss the use of port forwarding, VPN, tunneling, VLANs and other security methods to assure the network and the data are not at risk.

Also I have noticed an issue where by you can not change playback speed when watching playback in the Hik Connect app if the camera was not added through IP

Can we use IP address along with port of camera instead of IP of router
The router's IP is visible from the Internet, that's the reason you need o use it. It's just like your ZIP Code (Which is Unique) while your internal IP address (camera) is like a house or apartment number (is an internal control, so more people can have the same number).
Incase if the ISP IP is dynamic how do we set up
Just use Dynamic DNS
