Hold the line people stop buying these over priced trucks until they drop the prices significantly.
@eddierodriguez3472 agree. And drive home the message to toyota that we are not stupid as they thought we were
They still buying them.... might as well be pissing in the wind
prices are nearly identical to prices in 2000. You are not a new truck buyer. It's that simple.
I love my 2017 4Runner, but there’s no way I would buy a truck with a turbo engine. They will have to offer naturally aspirated engines or Toyota will be stuck with these, discounts or not.
They need to move jobs back to the US too., put a V6 back in. Otherwise F them. I’ll get a Frontier.
65k for a Tacoma is ridiculous. Dealerships are killing Toyota by normalizing mark-ups
agree
I recently learned a lot of execs at toyota were replaced with new folks. The pricing and quality of these new trucks definitely show that. The old toyota were bulletproof but i wouldn't give 35k for their top tier fully loaded tacoma. Their not junk but def not the same as the previous generations.
Your last sentence is perfect. They are not junk, but they are not what toyota once stood for. Stull amazing trucks. But different approach
@@Jason-Samko are They Still Amazing After 25+ Years ??? i have a '97 Tacoma to compare
@efil4kizum 3rd gen has the best chance of any truck made today to make it 25 years. But unfortunately they are just about all gone from the new car lots by now
The problem is Tundra's blowing motors and Tacoma's eating Transmissions. People don't trust Toyota like they used to. They have issues just like Ford, Chevy and Dodge with quality and reliability. So yeah, they are just like American trucks and they need to come down off their high horses and make deals like American dealers.
Summed up my entire video in one paragraph. Exactly right
It’s ironic though that according to this description, what made Toyota a true American brand was losing reliability.
I came across you Chanel as I was truck shopping and I ended up with a 23 frontier pro4x I appreciate all the help in making my decision
@TheNgp90 congratulations on such an outstanding truck
i WISH that those Nissan HAD a Manual Transmission option
@@efil4kizum would be awesome in a manual
Lmao $55k for a midsize truck is crazy. Should be $35k max, walk in and negotiate with them.
@@StarInfinite00 yep prices are crazy and vehicles are sitting
I wouldn’t be surprised if the car market take a big dump by next year prices are way too high. Some car payments is 1500$ a month. I agree these are has to move otherwise dealerships pays interest on these cars while sitting on the lot
@@naddaf20 1500$ car payment!??? GTFOH lol
You’re funny not even last gen was that low. Is also 80k for a half size too much for you?
@@Felix-qh2uk is the truck worth 80k that’s the real question. I have Tundra limited 2023 it has been in the shop for 2 months waiting on new engine or Toyota to buy it back. I would rather put 80k toward a rental property and make it do its own payment
Remember people dealers have to pay flooring cost on every vehicle, the longer the vehicle sits the more it cost the dealer, you have leverage now on Tacoma’s Tundra’s. Let the dealer sweat don’t give in, just leave if sales guy doesn’t give you a real good price. Listen to Samko he knows.
Very well said. Remeber it's your money and your deal. Make it happen how you want
Most large OEMs provide captive floorplan facilities and could effectively provide assistance to their franchised dealers. Independent dealers don’t have that option and are more likely to be forced to negotiate sale prices on floored preowned inventory in order to clear their lots. I don’t know if franchise dealers have to floor preowned units with an outside lender, but those rates would have skyrocketed over the last two years and curtailments eat away at the bottom line.
@@steadysmv very good points and very true.
@@Jason-Samko i know how to wheel and deal with those jacked jokers and thanks to JSamko i am even better at it now or so i think... 2$ over the cost is the best i can do
I’d never buy a truck with a four banger with a turbo strapped onto it. That’s begging for trouble, even Nissan knows better than that.
funny its GM trucks most reliable engine and Nissan is too poor to develop a new engine. Not because of perceived "reliability". Nissan has to come up with the money to develop one or leave the market
Remember when the 2017 TRD Pro was like $46k? 😢
Overpriced back then too
Can get a Frontier for that NOW, and it's BETTER.
You know what’s even crazier. The 2017 and 2023 are the same truck and people are paying 60k for it 🤦🏾♂️
@@Dre2011 How is it the same? What parts are shared? The 2017 didn't break down at the rate of these new Mexican "soft Tacos" that are not on the value menu at 60k.
Paid $44,000 for a brand new 2019 trd pro voodoo blue
Tons of updated trucks but I only care about that old school red 4Runner over there.
Call them up and ask for dirk or Mike. 2 amazing sakes guys at Franklin toyota in statesboro. Love these guys.
Local Delaware Toyota store had BIG LETTERS ON SIDE TUNDRAS $10, 000 off
Hearing about deals like that every day
I don’t see how Toyota is justifying these high prices for the new Gen Tacoma and Tundra models. Especially when the Tundra is having engine recalls and the Tacoma’s are having transmission problems. $55K for a TRD off road Tacoma is CRAZY. Sometimes arrogance can be a corporation’s biggest enemy.
Well said and good points
@@Jason-Samko another thing I’d like to point out. Toyota had initial engine issues with the 2016 Tacoma and the V8 Tundra when they were first released to market. And Toyota fixed those problems which lead to the long term reliability we saw in the previous Gen Tacoma’s and Tundra’s. So I’m confident that Toyota will address and fix the problems they’re having with the new models. However, it still doesn’t justify the crazy high prices they’re asking for. Something’s gotta give. And “lot rot” should turn the tables back to the consumers favor.
@pewterngold very true. All new engines have problems and toyota will sort it out. The reason people are so mad at toyota is they were affordable, simple and reliable. Right now they are none of those things
Between the fit and finish/transmissions and engine failures I wouldn't touch any of them for those prices.
prices are 35 percent too high. Nobody wants the new engines that are not reliable. Toyota ruined their reputation.
Hopefully they are smarter than ram and rather than drag out these stupid prices they drop them quick with the 25 model and get back to reality
The problem with dropping MSRP is though that if they do that then they will pi$$ off every single of their customers who bought at the higher MSRP. See Tesla.
That’s why companies don’t really do that. The solution is usually to bring out a new slightly different trim and price that one lower.
Biggest reason why I don’t like the new Tacoma is Toyota doesn’t offer a m/t in pre-runner or the extra cab tacoma as well
Or the pro or the trailhunter or any truck with the hybrid (not that I'd want one)
What about the latest “downfall” for the 24 Tacoma Jason; i.e. NO bump stops for the front suspension……RIDICULOUS!! What else has been cut as far as terrible quality on the new platform?! No wonder the new Tacoma’s are sitting on lots collecting dust.😳
Junk transmissions for starters.
Yep they cut alot of corners for the huge prices they are asking
I remember in the 90s whether it was the Toyota pick up the Nissan hardbody the Ford ranger the Mazda 4000 the Isuzu pick up the Mitsubishi pick up the Dodge Dakota the Chevy S-10 when they were kind of stripped and everybody bought them. If you got one with the power windows , the power seats , With the CD player you’d hit about $14,000 obviously the stripped ones were closer to $10,000. 24 years later they’re pushing over $50,000-$100,000. The majority of people who use these trucks for actual work aren’t looking to spend 60,000 70,000 or 80,000. They need a basic work truck to carry the paint cans, the ladders, the tools. It’s crazy to think how prices have gone out of control and how many of these vehicles they actually built.personally I believe everyone should wait till 50% off
I paid $9400.00 for a Mitsubishi 4x4 out the door.
Our local dealer has only one new Tacoma for $ 66,000 and probably six or seven Tundras.
Toyota is the Chevy of Japan, I think someone said that on TH-cam. What a shame how low has Toyota fallen.
Roll on Frontier, roll on...
Toyotas trucks built for the U.S are strapped with EPA regulations that’s what they been getting these crap turbo engines. Look at what you can buy in the rest of the world, diesel Hi-Lux, Troopy etc
@jscatt6123 I totally agree with what you're saying, but Toyota's quality control and workmanship have gone down. Just look at all current problems.
I've always said the heart beat of Japan 😂
@@jscatt6123 I keep hearing that, but how is it that Nissan has their 3.8 V6 as the only engine, plus Jeep and Honda are using their 6 cylinders still? If you think about it, half the midsize class is using a V6. Why can't Toyota also?
You do realize just 4 years ago you could walk in buy an OF 35k MSRP Tacoma for 31k brand new 😂.....Now they want 43k for a lesser quality with Mexico built truck and 4 cylinder turbo 😂...People aren't stupid and dont see them priced over 30k with issues now.
I'm scared what my options will be once my 3rd gen Taco needs to be replaced.
@@m.687u get it fixed and keep it. It's still way cheaper
I could understand the turbo choice but making poor choices to reduce weight for the rear diff by using aluminum and issues with transmission make me pause. Also, prices are ridiculous. I would wait 5-10 more yrs for them to figure it out. Meanwhile, jdm imported trucks are still 15-20k and they are diesel!
@theinfinitymachine9610 yep I'd wait another couple years on the tacoma and hopefully the prices come down some. Or toyota will have the same problem stellantis does
You got my brain juices going... And yes, I am actively looking for SOMETHING to replace my 9+ year old car. It seems I need to do some recon at larger Toyota dealerships to see what they're choking on. Thanks!
I'll keep my 2018 Tacoma. Truly don't trust the new one.
3rd gen is amazing
15% off MSRP is still a rip off in my opinion.
They can’t keep enough of them on the lots around me.. (Maine) I wish people would wake up and stop spending $50k+ for a midsized truck!
Probably like that in some areas. Down here I drive thru toyota lots all the time and they are all loaded to the gills with tacos
Ill never own one of these 4 cylinder turbos.
Never. These trucks are worth $35k. A quad cab SR2 SHOULD BE $35K
a
I like your thinking, but can they make anything at that price, when a $5 Subway sandwich is suddenly now $10?
Toyota has been cocky with their out of touch pricing which has finally caught up with them.
@@brahsumatra agree 100
Dealer in my area only has two rows of Tacomas on the lot. They can seem to keep anything else though, especially Camrys
roof rack price is insane.
@gaurd3 agree. So is the 700 bucks for the 2 free oil changes and tire rotations every other brand gives you for free. Prices are crazy
But it costs them SO MUCH to make with Mexican wages. You must understand Toyota math. Cut production costs to save money, then double dip by gouging the sucker fanboys!
I wonder what Toyota’s margin on the Tacos are? I think it’s pretty high because if you look at the Taco and Tundra prices, they are not that much off while labor costs in Mexico are rock bottom compared to the USA assembly hourly rates. Part costs should be more or less equal.
@@is6566 Obviously must be. Nissan makes the Frontier with USA labor and charges less. Toyota is so cheap that even with Mex labor, they can't even put in suspension stops, let alone use a transmission designed to take the power. They detune the manual trucks for LESS power , and the transmission STILL breaks with low mileage.
Jerry ulm dodge Jeep ram dealer in Tampa Florida has 20 big horns for sale. They’ve been sitting there for a while and they will not negotiate price.
Yep many dealers work on the " wait for the suckers" mentality. See it all the time. That's why we never shop at "a" dealer. We shop online for best deals then negotiate and work until we find the dealers that want to move vehicles. Let those "sucker dealers" do their thing they do to others. I've got to the point that one of the matrix I look at when figuring what dealers I want to work is how many rot vehicles they have. If they have alot of vehicles sitting for many days I automatically know they won't deal and are a sucker dealer
Good stuff. I agree, dealerships are in trouble. Be aggressive and make it work for you.
Yep. They take advantage of us every chance they get. Chase the deals
15% is reasonable to ask off..... Hell that should be a standard that people should walk in and ask for
Agree
I’m contemplating buying and older Colorado Zr2 slightly used, or a new Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Hard choice, I don’t “need” the Zr2s lockers lol but it’s nice to have. I like that the Tacoma gets good mpg, still had 4x4. Which would you choose?
@ant.8673 the zr2 would be my choice. The tacoma needs another year or 2 to make sure the bugs are worked out. It's only been on the road a few months and has some issues already
@@Jason-Samko That’s a very good point. Thanks for your input!
I am a Toyota head, currently own 5 of them. However, the new Tundra and Tacoma are definitely junk. That's why I bought a Nissan Frontier Pro-4X, and I am happy with it.
@carlosfigueroa7354 I think alot of toyota diehard feel the same way
a high traffic cdjr in the region won’t negotiate on two trims I want. One is nearly 400 days & truck entering 200.
The amount of floor plan payments they’ve paid for these rotting units and they still won’t discount.
Yep we call them "sucker dealers" they make a livingbon selling low volume and super high ripping people off. Shop online
Up here in Ontario Canada are lots are empty compared to what your showing l don’t understand
Send these Tacomas to Hawaii, it’ll sell like hotcakes!
Every other model, they can’t keep them on the lot. Remarkable
The only new vehicles at Toyota dealer in S. Nevada is Tundras and Tacomas.
All I see are trucks of all makes piling up everywhere. Yet despite the high interest rates, manufacturers and dealers won’t come down on price. If we want to get technical, it’s big corporations’ money master buddies who caused the inflation, and not us! So why should they insist on passing the buck to the consumer?? And then why should they act surprised when people are tapped out and uninterested to buy? Fact remains, NO midsize truck should be above $45K and no full size 1500 should be over $60K, period!!
Well said and agree
I wonder if the new Tundra's come with free engine replacements and the Tacoma's come with free spare transmissions.
I think you need to look at sales numbers not lots....they are definitely selling
Very informative as always great review thanks

@@Jason-Samkothanks! watched a bunch of your vid before buying mine. Thanks for your content.
@kicker22705 love hearing that!
Yeah, there's one local dealership near me who's main cash cow is the tundra, but I went to look at the 24' tacoma when it first hit the lots. He immediately tried to push me to the tundra, letting me know he could make deals on the tundras that he couldn't pull off on any other vehicle on the lot since he has a constant flow of them. Obviously didn't take that bait, but you get it. They NEED to move inventory more than squeeze every penny out of you. That being said, colorado's Turbomax + 8spd is far more seamless than the new tacoma's iForce. There's a Chevy dealership not too far that has like 5-6 ZR2's at $5000 off, making most of them $46k. Killing me having to sit on my hands for another month or two, but I'm sure everyone will have healthier stock Sept/Oct with plenty of deals.
Yep the zr2 is the smartest and best buy in a hard-core off road truck right now. Love what gm is doing and love gm dealers.
MORE Tundra income in future for them, replacing engines under warranty...double cash cow!

You can have any truck you want so long as it's black, grey, silver or white. How boring. Overwhelmingly drab boring colors are an industry-wide problem.
For that many Tacomas I wander around the diversity. You point out 21 Tacoma’s but not one with long bed. Where is the diversity?

Roof rack on a truck?
Like why?
And for 1600 bucks. And I saw a window sticker that untamed motors just showed where the same rack on a tacoma in Utah was only 1200 on a window sticker, but 1600 on the one I showed. Wth!

Outrageous prices - Tundras have engine issues and Tacomas have transmission problems. Really isn't rocket science.
For the prices of the new Tacoma's, I would feel better going with Jeep or GM or Nissan. I have lost all confidence in Toyota. Most of my friends have written off Toyota also.
Nah we need this all too crash. No one can afford them and we will not go in debt either
What you just said in the first 30 seconds foreign automakers need to understand American ideology
@Sean-qy1ex agree. Toyota trucks abandoned what they used to be. Simple, affordable, and trouble free. Now they are full of tech, over priced and many corners cut anywhere they could. If that's not trying to compete with American truck manufacturers I don't know what is. And if you are gonna try to be an American truck company you need to expected to be treated like and react like an American truck company
$80k+ for a truck? Nope not buying one.
Yep there not reliable so they can’t get there sticker no-more
@@beeslandscaping agree. People don't want to pay that much
Throw in free 10 year, 100K powertrain warranty to restore confidence with Tundra engine issues and Tacoma transmission issues; bring back naturally aspirated engine option (maybe on base SR5 trims); cut costs 10%; take off all the costly options; bring a Tacoma production plant to US; simple formula to rule the North American truck market. Otherwise, they no longer have the quality reputation to refuse to negotiate.
Opportunity? Only if you are willing to purchase a truck which is inferior to previously built trucks with stellar reliability. The new Tundra and Tacoma are a big disappointment. I have owned 5 Toyota trucks and my 2023 4Runner may be my last unless Toyota brings back it's quality and V8 and V6 engines without the hybrid crap!
