50% gem rate is average with ultra modern cards, the fact that you paid KK cards $1,000.00 to prep your cards and it did not help your average tells me it’s time to give someone else a shot. Love your vids 😊
Not going to lie, lot of low psa grades using a service. If you can see the print line, they def should've seen it. My Gem rate on my own is gen around 70%, mostly because I have PC cards mixed in that I just want a slab for. Spend the time reviewing the cards, get a membership to PSA, you will do just as well and save money.
I’m super pumped for this series. No premium stock as he says and not even 3 mins later, guess what we all saw lol cool story behind that card tho. Don’t care what anyone says. I still collect Zions
From some recent PSA reveals it seems PSA has gotten stiff with their grades. They were tossing out 10's to gain market share it seemed and it dropped their value so maybe making them rare again is a good thing for the value points.
I'm not going to lie here. I actually got a little sick seeing a card go from the " min size requirement" to a 10. Super happy for you as it probably deserved that grade to begin with. What sickens me is the obvious. We need consistency and transparency when it comes to grading. There is serious money invested for alot of people. No reason for the inconsistencies in PSA.
6:28 in and see that Deni Avdija, I don't know what threshold you asked them to "kick back" cards, but that card was so offcentered, there was no way it would be a 10 ever, and even a 9 should have been questionable. The "point" of the center frame is practically touching the right edge of the card. Again, love your content, but KK should have caught that one.
Sure seems like grading and paying a fee just to have someone look at it and still be wrong is an easy way to lose money. There's a reason why I rarely ever send anything in.
Hey keep your head up there are still bangers left. I would had hoped the company you send you cards to for submissions would have done a better job looking some of those lower grade 6's 7's and 8's and telling you to save your money and pass on grading them. But not to focus on the negative, I love these videos and missed them from you. I am sure you can make up some of the cost by doing the auction you mentioned at the beginning of the video. Keep up the awesome and rad content and stay classy my friend!
So do you make all that money off TH-cam vids and sport cards ? That’s wild lol I’m just now getting into cards even the hobby boxes are wild in prices
I love you man but in my world I could have bought all these cards for 10g… I understand the other boxes haven’t been revealed but I’ll keep the tally and give you a final grade Best of luck
RGL nice reveal. I think KKsports needs to look in the mirror and reassess what they are sending in, especially for you. IMO this reveal exposed them in a bad way. There’s no way that you should be getting back that many 6s and 8s after paying for their “review” service. I wonder if they looked them over at all. Or, maybe the better grades are all in the other remaining boxes?
The gem rate for this one was about 45%. My previous gem rates (when using their condition review service) have been 60 up to 80%. THere was also one I didn't have them review that came back..rough as well. I understand grading is subjective. I'm ok with 9's. There were a lot of 8's and lower in this sub. A few 8's (maybe 1-2 per 100) is fine, but yeah, after recording this series and seeing them in hand and not on paper, there were far too many 8's and below.
@@RunGoodLife agreed. My gem rate for my last order of 100 cards was about 50%, but that was mostly topps baseball paper which is tougher to grade than chrome stock in general. Grader to grader variability also plays a big part, and that can significantly change a large orders overall grades. One graders 10 is another graders 9, it is just subjective at the end of the day.
I paused it one minute in to make this comment......and a small prayer, that no matter what this reveal consists of.....there WILL BE NO 2019-20 Hoops Premium Stock. 😂
3:10. They sent it back to you because of ... "minimum size requirement"... um yeah you have to send them so many cards at a time (atm I think its 10) Not singles. So yeah now you got it graded..... because you sent it in with 500 cards. It has nothing to do with consistency on PSA's part.
@@RunGoodLife My bad. I guess I am use to the old term of 'trimmed'. As in a vintage card people did trim. I didn't realize that card manufacturers can put out random overcut cards.
Some of these card aren't even worth sending in. A second year holo my house lamelo? Why are you sending these 3 dollar cards to PSA, and seeing the grades that you're getting (tons of sub 9s), it seems like you're not even prepping them or checking if they're worth sending in. Some of these seem like you're throwing money down a drain. Also, I recommend everyone to prep cards themselves instead of doing a third party service. You'll save money AND you'll get better grades. Third party services do so many that their quality is absolute trash sometimes. Just had a 110 card submission with a 50% gem rate, 47% 9s, and 3% 8s! All 8s were expected given they were thicker, and 9s were all 50/50 to gem in my opinion. I'm usually hitting a 98% 9 or above rate on all thin cards. Also hitting a 93% gem rate on modern Pokemon cards in the last 200 Pokemon cards graded. Highly recommend Kurt's card care for prep
What if you already work 80+ hours a week and try to be a good husband and a family man? I just shouldn’t submit cards then because I can’t find 8-10 hrs to prep 500 cards for sub? Again, I say it many times in the series. Card aesthetic is more important to me than card value. Some of the biggest cards in the hobby are incredibly ugly and some of the best looking cards are $1. Most $3 raw cards are $40-60 in psa 10. $23 risk to make 2-2.5x sounds good to me. Worst case scenario is you lose a couple bucks on a 9, or $10 on an $8 (psa 8’s or $2-3 cards will still sell for $10 on comc all day long)
@@RunGoodLife Like you said if you're working 80 hours a week and then you know that time is money. Spending the small amount of time to prep each card (literally take seconds per card) if you just want to check centering, scratches, etc which could easily save you the PSA 8s and under that you been getting. Let alone saving the cost of the third party service. With a 500 card submission (7.5k submission price), you would save over hundreds and possibly over 1k just by checking. Most 3 raw cards are not 40-60 dollars, and even if they are because of ONE comp good luck finding a buyer on them. Three dollar raw cards that gem'ed have super low liquidity which means you'll spend a ton of time trying to find a buyer which wastes even more time. And what happens if those 3 dollar cards don't gem? Who buys PSA 9 slabs of 3 dollar raw cards. On COMC? Sure, but like you said this costs money to send it to them and TIME that you're wasting to just to win back those few dollars per PSA 8/9 cheap slabs. I'm just saying I understand the aesthetics here, but a holo my house second year cannot be that aesthetically pleasing to send it in nor are you keeping that for your PC. I'm trying to make a point that I understand if all of those cards are aesthetically pleasing, but some of those cards should just not have been sent in period and with the grades you've been getting on some of them, it's literally wasting money. People should understand that you send should cards in for 2 reasons: 1) for the pc and you want protection / like aesthetics and 2) for high EV of return if you're looking to sell in the future. If the card does NOT belong in it, don't send it in else you'll be wasting time and money.
@@justinyang3655 that particular card was put into my “to grade” box sometime a year ago when it was probably $5-10 raw on comc. I took that whole box, braced it safely for shipping, text the owner of KK and told him to do his thing. That’s how little prep went into this. Otherwise it was going to either sit here, all be sold raw on comc, or sold to GoingTwice which are local to me for 75% comps.
@@RunGoodLife First off, highly appreciate your responses and the time taken to write them in this thread! Thank you! I guess the issue here is does the owner of KK send cards in that they think will gem at least 50% of the time? A third party service should not be getting this many 8s or lowers (these are clearly defects seen by the eye especially for thin cards like these). If they take the time to look into each card to see if its worth spending the 20 dollar fee on, then it makes sense as long as the third party fee is small enough to warrant the potential profit.
@@justinyang3655 in full disclosure, when they got the box the owner text me back and said he would personally evaluate all the cards. In hindsight, I probably should have told him to let the guys he’s paying to do that everyday evaluate them. Also, not sure if they look for centering and print lines, or just edges and surface. probably would have been a good thing to know
This just shows you how much of joke psa grading is. How can one submission they send a card back saying it has been trimmed or size issues and the next time same card is submitted it gets a 10?? What a joke. And if you paid someone $2 a card to condition check these cards you shouldn’t have nothing less than a 9

How long did it take to get all these cards back?
any reason why you didn't grade the autos?
Not a fan of auto grade, don't think it adds much to theslab.
