  • In this video I show you how to odometer correction on your 03, 04, 05, 06 or 07 classic Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Hummer or Avalanche. I used my homemade EEprom programmer but it could also be done with a Minipro.

    If you own one of the OBD2 Programmers reply to the this comment and let people know. Just let us know the model, what you like about it and what you don't like about it. I am not planning on buying one but I think it would be useful information for people who are interested in one. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe.

    If I have replaced all stepper motors and the VSS and both speedo and odometer still do not work, what could the problem be? I couldn't find any broken solder points on the cluster. I'll add that all other gauges had stopped working but replacing stepper motors fixed them all.

    Does a computer on the truck the ECM or something like that stores they actual miles so you can return it to what it supposed to be or how could you find that out

    Hello, I see that the eeprom is being removed.. is it also possible to read and program the eeprom with the eeprom terminal? so without removing the eeprom from the board ? thx, Lambert

    I recently had a cluster replaced and I had the miles programmed but my steering wheels controls don’t work or light up, it’s a 2005 Tahoe, the cluster I replaced it with came off of a 2005 Yukon XL? Is that something that needs to get programmed in?

    I have only done one mileage correction as a test a few months ago. I took off the eeprom to try it out, not hard to do. Still waiting to do one for a customer. Had someone ask if I will do one and put lower mileage and I was like hell no I am not going to get my butt in trouble and I will only do it if the customer needs a new cluster or have a eeprom issue.

      Yeah best to just keep it to programming refurbished/junkyard clusters you are selling or odometer error.

    Now do you have to remove the chip off the board to program it? I bought a SOIC8 clip adapter because I seen someone said you can program the 25020a chip on the board on a forum. Everytime I go to read it, my mini pro goes into overcurrent protection mode. Im guessing you have to desolder it to program it?

      It's a software issue with the Minipro. If you use the Linux version of minipro it doesn't have that issue I hear. I made and Arduino project to get around it. Ch341 programmers don't have that issue I hear.

      0 means Its not reading the EEprom at all. Its probably on upside down or something. If you want to mail it in I can take a look.

    Can you change 99-02 GM full size (truck/suv) cluster mileage very easily? Interested in a video of that if possible.

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be done without pulling that whole board off I will be doing a video on that soon. I have an older video of pulling the board off then removing the eeprom but it can be done without pulling the board off. I will probably have that video done in a week or so.

      @@FixedUntilBroken What about swapping the board between clusters, although this may be risky as to damage one or both good working clusters. I have a 2500HD, and bought a Denali cluster, pretty much the only thing different is the speedo goes to 120 but mileage is lower than mine. I thought I was going to be good to go, because the advertised mileage was just a bit higher than my current and figured i would swap in when I got there, but nooooo haha.
      Will watch for your new vids, thanks

      I haven't messed with the 120mph ones. What I can say it's safe to swap the whole board between the 2 I'd say swap it take it for a test drive and see if the speedo is still accurate idk if it's a different flash for 120mph or different air core motor. I really haven't had the chance to mess with it.

      Well most of it was already out on forums on some of shadier parts of the internet so to figure how to program it only took a day or 2 on Google. Making the Arduino based programmer took me about a week. The minipro programmer I have owned for years because I used to play around with tuning obd1 one stuff like 80s/90s TPI stuff off of Camaros

      Digiprog 3 will it do obd2 on the 03-07 stuff or do you have to use the EEprom clip?

    Are you sure mileage is stored in km? It's fairly simple to do the math without tachosoft. By doing it that way I see it's stored in miles, not kilometers.
    Please try yourself. Take your mileage times 2 and then shift 8 bit to the right. That worked out for your odo correction done to the 00-02 cluster.
    For this case take your mileage times 10, 8bit shift to the right. Done.
    Or for the noninformatics: Mileage times 10 divided by 256. Convert to hex. Done
    The way back: Take hex value (2 bytes), 8bit shift to left, divide by 10. Done
    Or: Read hex (2bytes), convert to decimal. Value times 256 divided by 10. Done.
    Unaccurate results coming from unneccessary mileage to km conversion I guess.
    Does someone know if the VIN is checked by BCM or other controllers and for what purposes?

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going have to check it out. If your right, which it looks you are, I'll have to do an updated video. I honestly haven't been messing with clusters much lately.
