      it would only work for stuff from around 99 to 2007 some of the impala stuff goes past 2007 i think. Pretty much all the J1850 vpw stuff could be support if someone wants to put in the work. 99-02 GTM800s I think MCU is either mask rom or 1 time flash so you cant program the mcu only the eeprom.

    Any way to know what bin files have what options on the git hub? i am looking for a bin file to flash my cluster with steering wheel controls, and trans temp gauge. my truck is an 2004, and i guess i could be lazy and just find a vin from a truck that already has the options , buy the vin through techline connect and program it, but for one, i would rather not spend my money on acdelco tds, when i can donate to mike instead, and 2 i like a challenge and learning new stuff.

    Do you have to do anything to enable TPMS on the cluster? I recently got all the stuff to mess around with IPC hammer, as well as having a sacrificial IPC to mess with in case I mess it up. I will be adding TPMS to my MY03 truck via replacing the passenger door module. Should the IPC just pick up on that, or does anything has to be changed in the programming? Thank You.

      I think you just have to update to a newer OS version but i also heard you might need to update the BCM too.

    Nice work there! Was curious if IPC Hammer works with J2534? It was grayed out on your video, so I'm not sure it was because this function was reserved for the future releases or whatever the matter is..

    • @HETPEZB
      @HETPEZB ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll reply to myself. I tried it with J2534 (original GM) - mixed results. It does retrieve the properties, it triggers the test, reads the VIN, calibration ID etc.. When I try to write the calibration - cluster enters into "programming mode" (displays and warning lights goes off), it requesting permission to upload a few times, then responds that permission to program was denied and exits the programming mode (displays and warning lights are ON again). I tried with 4x communications enabled and disabled - no difference. Am I missing something in configuration or original GM J2534 not really suited to work with IPC Hammer?

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for not getting back to you. I actually forgot after seeing that you asked. I didn't know if it works or not. I remember talking Mike about it when he wrote the software but I couldn't remember if he had a chance to test it. I still can't really remember if it's tested or not but it sounds like it's not well tested

    • @HETPEZB
      @HETPEZB ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FixedUntilBroken, Thank you. I'll try it with the different laptop - who knows may be some drivers are conflicting or whatever the case could be. I know that my J2534 works OK, because it works fine for the cluster programming using official GM subscription ($49 per 1 VIN, I believe it is :) ).

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  ปีที่แล้ว

      All I do know about it is that it was already there from PCM hammer. I've actually not looked at the source code at all on IPC hammer or PCM hammer but it could be that some of the functions of it don't work. I simply don't know that much about that part of ipc hammer

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Vin doesn't really matter at all you can just use to look features. BTW the cluster will grab the vin from the PCM and write it to itself when you plug it into your truck.

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the main driving factor in clusters is that they sell good. BCMs are cheap and lots of of them at junkyards clusters not so much. I think it there was more of a market demand on BCMs you would see more info about them like PCMs and clusters.

    When would you write OS + Cal vs just writing IPC calibration?

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First example that comes to mind is if you were going swap an mcu off of one one board to another like a trailblazer to a Silverado (I haven't tested this though).
      I can't think of many times you actually need to change the OS though but it's worth having it as an option. But the way the folders are built all the cals match the os in that folder

    • @theoriginalmiked7795

      @@FixedUntilBroken Gotcha, I have a bunch of boards here that I’ve just been reading properties and seeing what there functions are. So like 03/04 with steering wheel controls, with driver 1/2, without service brake booster etc just so I have it written down and know. Now, if I wanted to say take an 06 Gas board, and convert it too an 06 diesel board, is this possible aswell? I would assume that would require a OS+Cal write?

    • @FixedUntilBroken
      @FixedUntilBroken  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you dont have to use an OBD2 port you can wire direct to the tool. unless you mean like a normal com port on a computer. class 2 serial isn't rs232/UART its J1850 VPW. it goes up to 7 volts. so you cant a normal com port to talk to it.

    I don't know how to do bug reports or anything that deals with programming, I just use programs to assist me in doing a better job.
    So with that in mind..
    In IPC , when not connected to a device (don't have one yet), When you run the checksum test and select a ".bin" file it runs flawlessly, but when you do not select a file and just press the cancel button or "X" at the top right corner to close the window, the "checksum test" page does not return to the main menu, and when you press cancel at the bottom of the "checksum test" page it does not return to the main menu forcing you to restart the program. It does however acknowledge that you did press the cancel button.
    If possible could you pass this on to Mike B,
    On another note, do you still have that broken power supply we talked about in December, if so how can I get up with you to pick it up. I live over in Defuniak Springs, I am a new member of your group if that helps in communications. Thank You...
