My favorite thing about my saws is that not one of them ran when I purchased them. My favorite place to buy them is Ebay, advertised as not running from pawn shops. Pawn shops know nothing about saws, so they sell them as not running. Usually it's typical fuel issues. My worst gamble saw had a scored cylinder. I purchased a super clean, used, full motor for it for 50 dollars. Runs like new. Tinman is so right. You can have good saws for little money. Thanks for the video!
Your puttering is better than most people’s best. I am beginning to get the saw bug bad. I found some old Mac saws in a barn in Virginia and I had a moment of silence and thought I heard angels sing. 🤣🤣🤣. Great video buddy. God bless and always have nothing but love. ❤️🌲🌲🌲❤️
My first husqvarna was a very tired 266xp that had a hard life and was cobbled back together with jb weld and hopes n dreams lol if i knew then what i know now, I'd have it torn down and running like brand new thanks to your channel! You are such a good dude tinman thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge on all these cool vintage power saws! I really miss that old 266...i can't wait to find another one!
I’m glad that saw ran for you with no screws in the oil pump. Tells me I need to break down and buy a vac/pressure pump to solve my 630 issues. That’s exactly what it does but I can’t find the leak
Nice Job! Yea those turdsaws... always something!🤣... just picked up a t425 from a buddy and made it 1 pound lighter by... cleaning it!🤣🤦♂️have a nice Weekend Greetings from Germany
Love your videos. If I wasn't in Hampshire (the English one!) I'd come and see you! Got a 266 XP that I cooked and had to put a new pot and cylinder on. It was AM part as my local dealer said OEM were no longer available. Fitted it all fine but still won't start. Spark seems fine (but nothing to compare it with) and compression likewise (not don't have a tester) so I'm scratching my head. Defo want to get it going again as it's a great saw. I'll get it tested for pressure somehow and then take it from there.... I'll also watch loads of your videos for inspiration!!
Fun video after a long day at work the Tinman turns the frowns upside-down. Awsome little tips and tricks about these saws. Keeping my eyes peeled for one
nice work Tinman, a great result. it is a beautiful early summer Saturday morning here in Australia. you have inspired me to grab my sons and a dead saw from the shed and see if we can make some noise. :D
Stihl S10 results, no noise, but it will live again with very minor work (and a huge amount of cleaning). for the first time my 11yo listened to what i said to do and how i suggested to do it. he did a good job and i think learnt a bit. :D my 5yo surprised me by playing "Tinman" with the bits. 😂🤣😂 the bad; absolutely filthy and a bit scruffy looking on the outside. burred up exterior screws etc. has a mud wasps nest in the muffler against the piston, just below the rings which has left a patch of corrosion on the piston and a few fresh light scratches in the bore from being pulled over half a dozen times by some idiot (me). it had sucked in the cylinder-case gasket so prob never ran right. the good; once the grot is removed inside the covers, the outside of the cylinder etc look really really good. very minimal wear. it has never thrown a chain etc. the only noticeable wear is on the sprocket. it cannot have more than a dozen tanks through it. i am guessing it never ran right from new, due to the gasket being sucked into the left transfer. the owner tried plenty of times to sort out the problem but never pulled the cylinder, so missed it. the majority of the wear looks to be from kicking around in a shed for over 40 years. the piston is a bit of a worry but has really long skirt i think the corrosion can be removed without effecting the wear surface on the piston. other than that it should clean up really well.
Great video as usual Tinman! Keep them coming, love the info. Those saws seem to be hard to find here in Virginia, Ill keep looking cant wait to get one!
Tinmaaaaan, are you kidding brother!?? That is friggin awesome hahahha. Now that's a great surprise eh? Definitely war waggon but has serious potential.. Something new to play with Tinman, very nice. SLANT'E
Nice video! If you enjoy tinkering, these old saws are proven performers. If you can find one cheap and fix it yourself with proper maintenance it will keep you cutting for a long time, even at the professional level. At a fraction of the price of a new pro saw. Thanks for inspiring others to keep these old workhorses alive. 👍
WOW! Tinman, another great video, I have learned so much from watching your channel, I love the big saws, the wood cutting, and all the tuning advice, on the hunt for a Husky to play with, so far working on some older Stihl's and Homelite's. Thank you.
That what we did check if rings was worn on a motor or if it was a possible valve issue was add oil cylinder. Maybe it be the same with saw also. If ring or cylinder worn do a test. Of course that saw doesn't have vavles.
I put a tag on my project saws with the serial number on it. The date it was last run and what issues the saws have. I have a file folder for every saw and piece of equipment I own containing a maintenance and repair/build record with record for were I sourced parts from. Receipts, build ideas, parts list and repair manual. When the season is right I can put a project in the shop pull the folder and get to work. It is time well spent especially when alot of projects seem to follow you home.
The 44 I picked up turned out to be a 444 with a 44 recoil and chain brake. Also got the 44 donor saw. The donor piston and cylinder are scored(single ring). The piston on the 444 is a double thin ring. Tag on the saw says 444 also👍
Watching a master at work, great information videos on this 200 series. Wow tinman thanks for all the info. How's the give way saw doing, have you been ran it again? Keep up the great information brother, always have a safe one to you and fam/friends
Hi Tinman. First time commenting just wanted to let you know that on a KS cylinder that 50 that you saw doesn't mean its 50mm. Sitting here watching the video I happened to have the jug off of my 61 on the table next to me and checked it. It is a KS and the number on it starts with 50 also it appears to be a part number and it is definitely 48mm. I am really enjoying the channel.
I can back this up, just checked my cylinder bin, the 61 Cylinders I have are KS, and the number does start with 50. I have not seen a closed port KS 266 jug yet.
Classic title 😂.. I see" turdsaw " n I'm watching..lol..dang tinman 20k is awesome congrats dawg..theres a reason ...its great stuff....think i was 850 or 870 subscriber or something like that n Friday nite my saw nite as well with your vids playing..🤘
I got my 266XP for free off of Craigslist Portland Oregon! I called this guy about a wood stove he was giving away for free. I told him that I needed a smaller stove because I had to many chainsaws and was running out of room! He asked me if I would like four more chainsaws for free! He said that his Grandpa and his Dad had saved them because there was something special about all four of them but didn't know what that was that made them so special! They didn't run and had never got around to figuring out what was wrong with them and he was moving and didn't have room in his Uhaul to take them with. I got so damned excited about the saws that I didn't pay attention to the speed limit and acquired a $260:00 dollar ticket on my way to picking them up! There was a 266xp from Tomos Slavaina Yugoslavia, A 1967 Lombard Comango, A Stihl 030AV not sold in the United States in awesome condition! And a John Deere/Echo 510EVL Koritz. And all were simple fixes! The 266xp is factory ported and and is a bad mofo! Every guy that has heard it run asked the same question! How much you selling it to me for? I explain to them that you can't just go down to your local saw shop and purchase another one! I think it is so fun to put the boots to all of the expensive plastic pieces of shit that the EPA has molested and the saw was manufactured in 1986🤣
It be interesting get a saw like this. And do minum and see how long it will last for till it needs some tlc and complete rebuild. What the lowest build cost keep a turd saw going. That or a true factory complete saw. Just like a factory barn find car that all original.
I wonder bout the guy who sold it.. seems to me he found out it needed bearings n sold it before she blew. Happy to see it go to a good home n hope he got a good deal👍would be curious to know how much he paid?
Tinman...when are you going to get back to the Echo cs590? I can get them for around 200 bucks used in my area and I'm itching to get one and hot rod it.
Is that tea to honey ratio around 40:1? Gotta protect those bearings. Lol.
Good to see you tinman.
Another 200 series Husky will live to cut another day. I love it. Always helps to have bolts in the oil pump hey. Thank you Tinman. 🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Life ,honey, and 2stroke fumes only high I need tinman another good video
Love it! It’s a runner!👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏
Those 266s are wonderful saws, thanks for the video

Hey Tinman....another Friday in the shop and a huge amount of info condensed into 1/2 hr. Thanks again
I love it when Saws runs after so much care for repairing. I'm now Looking forward to get Husqvarna 288 in Ebay.
I just got a running 261 with a good jug and a 261 parts saw two days ago. I'm pumped.
That was great, a quick thorough diagnosis, Thumbs Up !
My first husqvarna was a very tired 266xp that had a hard life and was cobbled back together with jb weld and hopes n dreams lol if i knew then what i know now, I'd have it torn down and running like brand new thanks to your channel! So glad I found this channel. I’m learning lots.

Cant wait to see what you do with this saw. Stock or ported the fun is in the build. Keep up the excellent work my friend.
I thought supper was just a South West Pa thing. Everyone else eats dinner. Thanks man. Love the info as always.
I have supper in west michigan
I have super in Idaho.
@@errolpoxleitner7901 that's super duper!
Thanks Timman. Good info. Nice saw to build.
Nice Job! Yea those turdsaws... always something!🤣... just picked up a t425 from a buddy and made it 1 pound lighter by... cleaning it!🤣🤦♂️have a nice Weekend
Greetings from Germany
Crankseals are my new issue as the saws I work on are getting older. . Thanks a lot. Bruce From Alberta
Thanks for sharing your time with us 👊
That saw reminds me so much of my 266 Xp I bought for $50 and all it needed was a fuel line and a good cleaning. Love my 266 turd saw.
Yes! I have a bunch like that! So fun!
your live feed was great 👍
Great to see another Friday night in the shop. Fun to see a fresh saw resurrection. Great video Tinman
Keep up the great work. Your videos are very informative. These old saws are built well and you continue to help us all keep them running strong.

Those 200 series of the huskies are really cool . Love the way they sound . Thank you for the video . Learning and building confidence .
I'd really enjoy seeing a video of you replacing the crank seals as if it were a customer just having a faulty saw repaired at a shop.
Donny Walker,Buckin and Tinman videos!! What a great Friday night
Nice saw, it will be a great build. I've been look and they are not easy to find. Anxious to watch this build. Good stuff...tc. Mahalo🤙🤙
Always find it interesting seeing what people throw together to get the job done! Definitely a solid saw with alil TLC👍 thanks for sharing!
SLANT'E
Great videos! Your live was a kick last time Thanks .
I would love to find a saw or three like this in my area. So cool.
exelent vid.just about to go through my non running 266.this is incredibly helpfull info to get me on my way.cheers.love youre work man

I never run by these in Southern OR. Seems like we mostly have old Macs, Stihl, and cheap home owner saws.
Love the sound of a 266. I have one here in the UK. Great video 👍
WOW! Tinman, another great video, I have learned so much from watching your channel, I love the big saws, the wood cutting, and all the tuning advice, on the hunt for a Husky to play with, so far working on some older Stihl's and Homelite's. Thank you.
Awesome video, really liking this series.
Leave it stock, it will be a cracking saw. These are my favourite all time saws. Stay safe keep warm ;-)
Good stuff tinman.
Looks like spark between the cylinder and the case or maybe I'm just seeing things !
Good old huskys great reliable saw
Don't forget the handle. That's sounds strong. Just needs a little love.
That neat video. A poor man chainsaw. And most of use when we young and just getting started were poor.
Definitely interested in follow up on this one. Cool saw.
That what we did check if rings was worn on a motor or if it was a possible valve issue was add oil cylinder. Maybe it be the same with saw also. If ring or cylinder worn do a test. Of course that saw doesn't have vavles.
Thx for the video tinman!
I do enjoy these will it run videos!
The biggest selling saw of all time.
Good when new. But much prefer the 281 or even 181 the best factory hotsaw ever made.
The fin designs are unique to each cylinder as well. Hard to describe without being able to post a picture of them all lined up here.
excellent demonstration on showing an air leak to folks...dont always have to pressure/vaccum test...excellent tinman
Drapery hook throttle linkage. I love it. I really like my 200 series Husky.
I put a tag on my project saws with the serial number on it. The date it was last run and what issues the saws have. I have a file folder for every saw and piece of equipment I own containing a maintenance and repair/build record with record for were I sourced parts from. make it stock see how she cuts we do not see 266 here much at all /// i like them they look good to work on
Sounds good for a parts saw!
Oh! Congrats on 20 grand!
Love this Tinman
You are getting a spark on the outside/exterior in between the carb and the cylinder.
Have a question. I have a Ms 460 with intermittent spark . Replaced the coil same thing . Need some help please. Thanks
Can't wait to see what happens to this one, just recently got a 2172 and am thinking about doing it up tinman style
Watching a master at work, great information videos on this 200 series. Wow tinman thanks for all the info. How's the give way saw doing, have you been ran it again? Keep up the great information brother, always have a safe one to you and fam/friends

Great saw tinman
Congrats on 20k subs.
Most 288 that I owned the coil was under the top cover or the igniter
Here we go again in the Tinman Saw Shop. 👍🏼
Painted cases would explain the orange oil pump
Tinman are you pulling on the shaft in and out or 12 to 6 when you diagnosed the bearing were bad? Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!

nice!
Maybe someone changed it to sell it online as a 288 Husky I bet most people would not have spotted that
I wonder bout the guy who sold it.. seems to me he found out it needed bearings n sold it before she blew. Happy to see it go to a good home n hope he got a good deal👍would be curious to know how much he paid?
Why do you pull the recoil out when you turn off the saw ?
Looks like you got a grounding problem. Looks like it's arcing from the cylinder to the case.
Your chainsaws are so awesome
I just picked up a 44 and a 266👍
I'd say make sure it's oiling, fix the throttle and bar it up and give her a go. Nevermind jst got to the bad bearing part
Well spotted tinman.. keep the content coming. My 266 on the high jet is set at 3/4 of a turn out will it be ok at that
Tore down a late 266 today that had a KS top end, it was a fine thread clutch crank.
That's the course thread clutch on there an older saw 80s probably.
Tinman...when are you going to get back to the Echo cs590? I can get them for around 200 bucks used in my area and I'm itching to get one and hot rod it.
I need to grab a 200 series husky, purely for tinkering purposes!
Hey Tinman, ever played around with the idea of doing a fluted crank on a saw?
Did you check the oil pump screws?
Hey I got a few turdsaws myself.
have you ever worked on a 285cd
