IWI Tavor TS12 - A 12 gauge ready for Space Invaders

  • The latest from IWI, a Tavor called the TS12. This one is a 12 gauge that can use 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. It can hold up to 15 plus 1 of them!
    From the look of it, it will probably be a contender for a contract for the Space Force gun competition! It could also win the Christmas Ugly Sweater contest as well!

    Unbelievably, this shotgun is legal in CA due to the tubular magazine.

      It's illegal in CT because it's semi auto 😢

    Chamber a round, and there's one sitting on the lifter. You can then rotate the mag tube and add two more to that same tube you just loaded from, giving you 17 total vs 16.

      Ghost loading. I can do that with my other shotguns, but the TS12 makes it super easy. I love that about it.

    The Sterling buck shot, from Turkey, has over long dimensions as well. On the other hand, my shotgun loves the stuff. Works on high pressure H or low pressure L settings. The gun had a couple loading problems in the first twenty rounds. Shot OK, but 'forgot to load' one and didn't quite eject a trap load. After the first twenty, it was fine with anything I could stuff in the gun. On H setting it only liked the really hot stuff, just as the manual says. On Low it ate everything with ease. It's my new go to shotgun, replacing two others.

    quick thank you for making this video. im buying my first gun (one of these things) in a few days and i really appreciate your:
    1. lack of obnoxious music, tatoos, and immaturity.
    2. your diction is excellent and your english impeccable; if not amusing at times.
    3. its very understandable for non gun-folks.
    liked, subscribed, and looking forward to future videos on this gun.

    Those IWI/Troy collab iron sights pair so well with the TS-12.

    I have one. It is a beast. I can totally rock it. Good sight and plenty of experience and you can do a whole lot better than your opening display. Try a push/pull with your hands almost like your trying to stretch the gun. Not super hard, just firm. Also, make sure you don't squeeze the grip harder with your hand as you squeeze the trigger. I think you may also have a little flinch problem. That just goes away with practice. Hope that helps.

    I put a side grip on mine. Kind of like a hammer drill. Laser sight on the way to go with it. Very comfortable, and little barrel rise. Straight back recoil. Basic pop up iron sights work fine. Holds 10-12 inch pattern at 30 yards using 3" mag, 15 pellet 00 buck. I was very impressed. The side grip made for a very comfortable feel and helps to manipulate the firearm angle while ghost loading. May run a side saddle down the right side.

    I tried to wait for that but I went with a Vepr 12 (w/ side folding stock) and in general am glad I did. No tools needed to break it down for cleaning (you push a button in and then access the bolt carrier which has a small notch on it to open up other parts of the gun for cleaning). I sandpapered the rails to smooth it out and it runs rio low recoil slugs no problem. Only had 1 failure to eject in the first ~50 (on a higher power slug amusingly ) , and 1 failure to feed in the first 100 ( my fault because I tried to load on a closed bolt which deformed the hull ) , no problems after that (over 600 shots now). Also with the stock folded it will fire/recycle and has a small footprint.

    Saw another video where they had the same hang up issue with S&B ammo (a bit too long). Also the common theme is low power rounds have cycle issues. Using mid to high impulse rounds may work better at first. Some say it gets more reliable after shooting a while and breaking in.

  • @6NBERLS

    I don't like the idea that you have to find a shotshell that the gun likes. The availability of ammunition is a problem. You might find that none of the ammo varieties available to you will function in the gun. Then, if you find a shotshell that works, will that variety be available the next time you need to buy ammo?
    My theory is that if you have a TS12, you will need to load your own ammo to guarantee that you always have a shotshell that will work.

    Great vid! I bought mine on the day it was released and no regrets.
    Have a question, though I am a novice, I’ve have been using Federal Classic pellet flawlessly. However I fully loaded Federal Rifle Slugs the other day and all hell broke loose.shells were no chambering and on a few occasions the shell extracted from the magazine under the carrier. Field stripped four times at the range to remove such. So, as a novice I believe I may be ill appropriately choosing the proper settings of the shotgun: low gas setting, choke? Nonetheless the less, the buck shot is flawless.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you.
      You need a "Cylinder" or at the very most "Improved Cylinder" to safely shoot slugs. Most slugs are heavy loads so the lowest gas setting which is actually "H" on this gun. It is not "Low" and "High" as you might be inclined to think normally but instead "Light" (High gas) and "Heavy" (Low Gas). These are capable of slugs but are really optimized for buckshot with the design being primarily a battle weapon.

      @@docholliday3666 Right on the money. I had some very nasty powerful 1 3 16 1400 fps buck that works great on the high section. Nothing else I've tried likes the H section. It turns into a manual action on the wrong setting. Loves even trap ammo on L setting.
      Glad you found a decent range. At our range people just want to shoot it, but I'm in Arizona, where the AR15 is the main thing you see at the range.

    Why wouldn't you want to use an extended choke tube???

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may interfere with the shroud that goes over the barrel and holds everything in place. Most extended tubes are wider in the "extension" than the main tube itself. If you find one that works then rock on but you might have trouble.

    • @araarthura3007
      @araarthura3007 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The choke tube may be removed without removing the knurled knob on the end of the barrel, so an extended choke tube can be installed without removing the knob. An extended choke tube will have to be removed in order to take the muzzle end of the weapon apart, but the manual says you should remove the choke tube for cleaning anyway.
