Bama mad they cant get the best players. I like the nil, it levels the playing field making other schools more competitive. As well as getting the student athletes paid in case they dont get drafted to the nfl.
Great! 2 years JUCO, 4 years college, a redshirt and medical redshirt year equals a 27 year old "college" athlete! I'm waiting for colleges and universities to break away from super conferences and "reform" student /athlete entities.
At one time, long ago in the Cornhusker glory days, I truly enjoyed college football. The football team was part of the university. The team would even play for pride, for the team, and yes, even for honor. Why? Well for the inherent good of giving back. Plus, in days of yore, not all the time, but most of the time, character still mattered. To leave early is to admit that the core concern of that football player is money. Give that player a three year contract, and the most effort you’ll get back is in the third year, with the goal of raising his $$$ worth. We’ve all seen how well that works. 😂😂😂. We now pamper and coddle in the NFL and it will spread through college ball like a cancer. Short term, you get some rich kids who think the now what success is. Guaranteed contracts in the NFL and money in college is football sitting on the end of a branch cutting through it on the wrong side. That’s ok. After I saw camera man treat a football on the ground as an unacceptable risk to his career, I’ve been losing interest.
Alabama fans are game! Let’s go! Roll Tide! Saying that the AD is begging for money will not deter Alabama fans. Times are tough, but we will spend the money if we have it.
God, this woulda helped me! Played as a true freshman, got hurt late in season so couldnt redshirt, should have redshirted my sophmore year because that was the last summer you got to go home and i came in outta shape. Sophmore and Junior year broke a bone in my leg late in the season, fubula and tibia respectively. Senior year missed no game but my right knee got fucked up on a crack back block and I wasn't right the rest of the season. So at 21 im done. Still played some arena and semipro but i wasnt mature enough at 21😢
NIL contractors should not receive any scholarship benefits. No free education, room and board. A season, not year contract should be signed because the alumni should not pay for grifters.
The NCAA has been around for over 100 years, and specifically over the past 40 years have had endless opportunities to redefine amateurism and find an answer to student athlete income. Instead, they played hardball until social media grew influential enough to spread information about how athletes were being treated. NIL may be broken, but don't go getting your panties in a bunch over a system that's been in place for a few years when the NCAA had decades to prevent this situation.
The state legislatures passed NIL laws and a couple of judges have made historic rulings that have tied the hands of the NCAA and colleges. Let’s quit blaming the kids. Some grown ups need to fix this but I don’t think that will ever happen.
Fans are going to respond to schools with the #1 signal. Then later I bet they will NIL "tax" non athlete students. Who in turn will avoid big schools to get away from the cost.
People mock the term “slippery slope”, well…you’re about to find out what that means. Providing monetary compensation for college athletes is one thing, but the pendulum has drastically swung too far too soon. Keep watching.
What has Bama been doing with the profits from the last 10 years???? The AD went on to 60 minutes a few years ago and said that Nick Saban was the greatest financial decision they have ever made. Haven't they been investing that money???
Really? It wasn’t when Mr Saban (since LSU) did this tactic of over recruiting talent. Then because of Oregons fast paced offense which compensated for talent everywhere. Then every college started doing that. What did Saban do when he got to Bama? Got two to three levels deep full of 4/5 stars on defense and offense. That’s why the SEC has 12 of its 16 teams in the top 25 recruiting.
So now that Alabama didn't make the playoffs and the nil and transfer portal has evened the playing field so they're no longer at the top and they no longer have a monopoly on college football now they're wanting to cry about it?! To hell with the crimson Tide
The playoff structure is going to change a lot. Just wait until it swells to 24 to 30 teams. It’s going to expose many programs. The bowl system was a large part of the problem. Now that they have to really fight for a championship, it’s gonna make the cream rise to the top. One of my coaches always said that competition will make the cream rise to the top. I think we should make the athletes wait u til they are 18 or 21 to get paid. This crap about high schoolers making a million bucks is ridiculous. Wait until they win to pay them.

I think all college athletes should get paid to play or at least paid tuition. Football especially. That is a sport that most likely includes multiple physical injuries. It is also linked to brain injuries and sometimes death. Why my sons didn’t play football. I did and suffered bodily injury and multiple concussions in middle and high schools. I have dealt with depression from those injuries my whole life. If these athletes aren’t compensated monetarily when the schools are with TV deals. It is a crime. They’re the ones making the product.

P T Barnum's truth strikes again. There's a sucker born every minute.
College sports in general is done. NIL is the worst thing to ever happen.
Still played some arena and semipro but i wasnt mature enough at 21😢
You should get a TV sports job.
Shit is insane. Asking for more $ while athletes give less and less 🤣🤣.
Wait!! You have to pay the players that you profit from?! 😂😂😂😂😂 It’s called free market you can’t have it both ways
Death and Taxes being replaced by Greed and Clout! 😂😂😂😂
The state legislatures passed NIL laws and a couple of judges have made historic rulings that have tied the hands of the NCAA and colleges. Let’s quit blaming the kids. Some grown ups need to fix this but I don’t think that will ever happen.
Fans won't do it, so ticket prices will go up, parking space proces will go up and it'll be another semi-professional league.
Fans are going to respond to schools with the #1 signal.
Then later I bet they will NIL "tax" non athlete students. Who in turn will avoid big schools to get away from the cost.
Paying players has ruined college sports....
I will never give any money for entitled athletes
But you pay for tickets where the money goes to entitled coaches?
@ I don’t buy tickets to any games no more
People mock the term “slippery slope”, well…you’re about to find out what that means. Providing monetary compensation for college athletes is one thing, but the pendulum has drastically swung too far too soon. Keep watching.
Middle aged man with cap flipped. Cant take anything he says seriously.
Was going to make the same comment.
I like the JUCO idea. I don't like the NIL cost to fans. Thats the colleges problem, not us the fans.
What has Bama been doing with the profits from the last 10 years???? The AD went on to 60 minutes a few years ago and said that Nick Saban was the greatest financial decision they have ever made. Haven't they been investing that money???
NIL and transfer portal WILL destroy college football watch and see folks.
People are going to donate and then the players that take that money leave after a semester. And then the donations dry up from that one contributor
Anyone paying for Alabama access money grab is an idiot. Let them fund their own program. NIL and portal have destroyed college football.
Isn’t it curious that once the bag man was allowed Alabama stopped being so dominant
Sports fan since 1966. No bleeping more . Sports like the rest of modern society is in the septic tank . Many factors .Rap/ hip hop culture greed , poor weak leadership, I mean transfer portal? What the F.?All sports, basketball, baseball football, boxing tennis, golf , loved em all for over half a century. Athletes today are just tatted up wannabe rappers, we've gone in 50 years from Bart Starr , Roger Staubach, Johnny Unitas, to Deshawn Watson, Lamar Jackson,Dak Prescott etc all DEI Qbs who could never have played back when you had to have a brain to play the position . They are semi successful today because the games (all sports) have been softened and dumbed down. Modern sports like modern society is circling the toilet bowl,
I think all college athletes should get paid to play or at least paid tuition.
Less scholarships for highschool players.
Begging for money. How about you put a great product on the field, then make money from the fan’s interest.
Nobody cared when the buckeyes did it last year in Columbus ohio
I figured out Jason he a big troll bro funny ,but JB giving me dope head vibes 🤷♂️…NIL here to stay get over it Bama been doing it since 60s money under the table.😂
The hired gun paradigm ruined pro basketball and is now ruining football.
more hs football players who didnt get enough varsity snaps can go JUCO to gain more knowledge of the game and fully mature. wise ones will benefit. great time to be alive for young ballers
I'm mad as heck & I'm not going to put up with it anymore! ( I'm horrible with quotes but you get what I mean ! ). Besides . For many of us we can't afford anything except peasant TV. So the whole system is on ESPN now all of the playoffs. It's pay-per-view in our eyes. Makes me sad and angry at the same time! I'm 65 and have been a fan for half a century. Now I have no choice but to cut them off! I've I only always had one or two hobbies I loved, now in my golden years it's all gone.
The hypotheticals are hilarious.
Old guy need to wear his hat properly or take it off. Quit trying to relive your childhood.
"J DUB & JB 4REAL" WILL BE A DOPE AZZ SHOW. NOT JUST SPORTS. EVERYTHING.😎☝🏾💯💯⚖️💵💵💵🏈🏀🥊⚾️🏆🏅
Another high tier guest . LMAO
Wait a minute now…y’all told us you wanted America to be ran like a business, what’s the issue? This is business and it’s only a problem now that it’s reaching places you didn’t expect.
Sad day in sports
They should’ve been cut in the players on the revenue and y’all wouldn’t be crying now
Tax funded schools. Back in the day, Buckeye fans could watch a replay on the local college PBS station a day or two after the live game. Free!
I just figured it out. Is that Coach Brown from Kansas?
ice berg has been hit. The band is still playing. People don't know it yet. Fatal damage to the waterline.
Don't worry, eventually we taxpayers will split the bill.
This is a good thing. With the transfer rules being what they are the HS players are losing out. Now they have time to develop. Of course the classes/hours will transfer. This guy is a clown. Must be from West Virginia.
