There's no parity in it, there's an illusion that the playing field is leveling because it's shifting. Whoever pays the most gets the most, and that's already hurting fans/students with higher ticket prices to pay for this NIL, but it also forces universities to choose between investing in football or academics again, which also hurts students. We absolutely need regulations so that universities with smaller endowments or a more academic focus can still compete.

High coach salaries, bidding wars for them, massive tv deals, and an NCAA that gave no consideration for the economic well-being of the players caused this situation. Saban and other millionaire coaches have little credibility in criticizing players who are finally squeezing their juice out of the game. The wealthy coaches should have worked to make the economics of the game fair for all players when they had an opportunity do so. Since they did not, the game now belongs to the players. Coaches aren't as smart as they think they are. Or, as we think they are.
One solution could have been to require a portion of funds received for tv, tickets, licensed goods, etc., to be paid into a trust fund for players, all receiving the same share, along with a substantial payment for graduating. Too late now.

The stats say otherwise. The SEC has had the most CFP appearances, CFP winners, and teams in the top 25 since NIL began. Out of the three close favorites to win the CFP, two of them are SEC teams--Oregon is #1 though. Out of the top 10 2025 recruiting classes, 7 of them are SEC schools. Out of the top 30 recruiting classes of 2025, 97% of the SEC is represented. The BIG 10 comes in second with only 50% of their colleges being represented in the data. If anything, since NIL became a thing, the SEC has gotten stronger and it's definitely looking like they're getting the best players every time. Think about it.. what team in another conference would have a Manning sitting on the bench as their second string QB? There isn't one.

    The solution is simple.
Power 4 schools set a salary cap every few years. Players can sign contracts out of high school, with the standard being a 3 year contract with a 4th year option depending on their draft stock.
If they want a 1 or 2 year contract they can sign one, but it will be significantly less than the 3 year.
If they void their contracts and transfer to another power 4 school, they must either sit out a year or play for no pay from the school. They can however transfer to a non power 4 school with no repercussions.
    Problem solved.
