  • The new generation ZX10R is the ZX10 we have been wanting to see from Kawasaki for a long time! When this generation came out in 2021 it got some poor reviews for its lack of power for a 1000cc motorcycle. However, that lack of power from the factory is what makes this 2021 Kawasaki ZX10R such a great motorcycle for a lot of riders. If you want to learn how to work on the ZX10 or to gain some power back, get subscribed!

    They got the golden ticket in 2011 and just been refining the gen 4 since for like the next 12 years 💪 I have a 4th generation zx10r and stock my bike was only 436 which immediately trimmed down to around 410 without the stock exhaust. My 2011 still to this day keeps up and outruns some new gen models or various bikes unless they're built motor. The gen 4 model was the best in my opinion they feel smaller than 600s with the 1000cc torque but only got heavier and heavier and more techy with the years

    If you look at all the famous dyno tuning TH-camrs this ZX10R is the best performing naturally aspirated 1000cc bike ie. Chris Moore, Brock Davidson, after a flash and tune obviously. Kawasaki restricts this bike to only 80% throttle even though you are using 100% throttle from the factory. In 2023 it amazes me that people still don't tune bikes and don't realize that you can literally be getting +100hp in the peak rpms (If you don't understand tuning don't reply to the +100hp comment)

    • @akcycles
      @akcycles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you only have riding experience on the R3 I would highly recommend going with a 600 or 750 for a few years before the 1000. 300 to a 1000 is a massive jump. It can be done for sure but truly the better option is a 600 supersport. Modern 600cc are actually only 10 to 15 HP less than old early 2000s 1000cc motorcycles. They can be plenty fast and you can develop skills easier on a 600, so that you are ready for the 1000 and not overwhelmed right away.

    I traded my 2018 Ninja1000 for on of this 2021 zx10r. The lack of low end power is noticeable but not as much as the top end power gain. I have the same m4 exhaust that is on the video and its flashed and the thing pulls pretty good. I tested the water with all the other 1000 cc's and for me, this is the better one for the roads, by far. My final decision was between this and an Aprilia RSV4. The smoothness of the zx10 for the daily ride was the final key point on getting it. The bike is just butter.

    • @akcycles
      @akcycles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      See I found the R1 to be really uncomfortable because I felt cramped on it. So if you feel like you are stretched out too much and you want the bars closer... That's a hard change to make. Aftermarket clip ons you could go higher and bring them in but with aftermarket clip ons you may have clearance issues. I would try aftermarket rear sets to bring your legs down n more underneath you. Vortex rear sets may be the only good option because they typically have the most adjustments

I love the narrow body and how I can use my legs to tighten around the gas tank and my tension is on my upper traps forcing them to flex outing me naturally in a very comfortable aggressive stance on the r1 where as with the zx10r I kinda have to push myself forward in that agressive stance to ride comfortably but it’s not naturally obtained like with the r1

    Does this bike have ABS? Im looking at the non abs...my dealer is having a hard time finding one with ABS. Is this a deal breaker if i get the one w/o the ABS? Im looking at the 2024 model.

    • @akcycles
      @akcycles  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They do have abs and non abs options for the ZX10R still. Unfortunately finding abs can be a problem because most people don't realize that abs models sometimes have limited production runs per year so it's not something a dealer can just order for you. Once a manufacturer makes X amount a year that's it, no more. I always recommend abs. Abs systems on modern bikes have come a long way and are much better than they use to be. Only time it's nice not having abs is if it's going to be a dedicated track bike but on the street you really should have abs for those holy crap moments. Plus check your insurance. Abs can sometimes save you money there as well.

They are smooth fast and enjoyable to ride definitely the best street bikes. It's been almost a year so I don't know if you wound up getting one but my friend recently got a steal on a 2017 S1K, $10K, and the thing is scary in how not scary it is. It's SHOCKINGLY comfortable for a sportbike, the seat is well shaped and cushioned, bars are in a great position and the heated grips are game changing for Fall riding.
      However you NEED to mind your speed it will do 107mph in first gear without breaking a sweat or making any show of it. I hit 95 riding through the middle of town, no traffic in front of me, and it felt like I was doing 45 on my Street Triple or my friends 899.
      So I understand the "boring" comments some reviewers make about the BMW now it's as fast if not faster than any other super bike but it feels like a well honed tool while a Ducati, Aprilia or R1 just feel raw and more unrefined.
      If you want primarily a street bike I would definitely go for the S1K or ZX-10R for the comfort and tech aspects, or a tuned Tuono which can hang with any super bike up until around 140~ before aero and top end becomes the deciding factor.

    • @akcycles

      The R1 is a track monster when set up right. They are a very aggressive liter bike for the street both in body position and performance. I think the ZX10R has a lot to offer though after tuning, so Im interested to see how it holds up later this season. If you have very little experience on supersports or on 1000s I think the ZX10 is the best one to look at. This gen is very forgiving for inexperienced riders.

Everytime we need to get parts for one it takes forever and at least for me I think there is only one dealership in the area. Cost of ownership is always a lot higher than a Japanese bike and a lot of customers that switch to Ducati BMW or Aprilia are always shocked by it.

      @@akcycles I agree they look and sound HOTTT, especially the factory version, i would hope with a new bike the only parts would be maintenance like tires, chain, etc. every few years

      True the fairings are now bolted together from the inside and molded in a way to give it rigidity which makes it a pain to work on 😭

      No if anything more comfortable if you are around 6ft n up. Distance from the tank to clip ons makes it pretty comfortable on the back don't feel as cramped unlike on 600cc. I found it to be one of the more enjoyable 1000s to ride because I felt pretty comfortable on it for a supersport.
