    This really is a great video showing a clean and neat way to do the chain at the beginning and to add the rows as you hand crochet each row! I also really love the way you have joined the ends with thread. Just tying a knot in a yarn this thick makes it very easy for the knot to slip. I just repaired one for my daughter that someone else had made and it was in olaces where it had only been single knotted! Thanks a bunch for sharing! I already knew how to hand crochet the afghan but your tips were very helpful!

    I'm a bit late to this chunky blanket craze, but I recently took a class that taught you how to make one. Honestly, I wish I'd found your tutorial first. The very best part is how you finished the blanket. I absolutely LOVE how that turned out. They used a different technique that wasn't nearly as flattering. I am SO tempted to take my blanket apart and make it again. I'm giving it to my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and I want it to be perfect. This is fun. I’ve never seen it done before . As a knitter I would like to give you a tip. When you add a new color at the end of the row, just make a loop with the new color and keep going. When you come back and loop through the second color on the next row, then go down and tie the two colors together.

    Thank you for this 👍🏻. I’ve had similar yarn for months and have tried to crochet, without success, four times!🙈
    Thought you might be interested to know that the yarn cost £10 per skein in the UK, so I’m only using 6 skeins to start 😀

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that is more expensive. I will say if I make another one I will probably make it half the size. The yarn stretches over time and it is so big and chunky. It’s great but can be a lot of blanket sometimes. Haha

    I just made one. My loops folded towards me and didnt stay up (or flat) like yours. Does that mean my loops were too tight?

    I may have missed it but did you end up with a final size for the 9-10 balls of yarn? Wanting to make one for my wife for Christmas. I figured if I can tie fishing knots all day I can pull this off haha.

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can totally pull this off and she would love it! I don’t have a finished measurement bc it is dependent on loop size and how wide you start your blanket. For a lap size do 6 skeins about 32” wide.

    Excellent instructions! Can’t wait to make one… what width did you end up with? You said you didn’t want to go 60” again, so just wondering… Thank you for your wonderful instructions!

      I don’t know what the final measurement ended up being but keep in mind it does and will stretch out some. If I make another one it will be a lap size. This one I made in the video covers my queen size bed. Haha

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly it varies so much by how big or small your loops are as to how much yarn you need. There’s not a specific formula that can be consistent for everyone.

    Does it matter what type of thread to combine the colors? e.g. elastic thread, embroidery floss, sewing thread, etc.

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doesn’t but I used regular sewing thread bc it hides well in the chunky yarn.

    Hello, great tutorial! What is the size of the finished blanket?

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Size will vary greatly by how big for small you make your loops. And over time it will stretch out some. I recommend getting the width you want with your first chain and then keep adding length until you are happy with the size. This large blanket covers my queen been.

    So I bought 5 and 5 of each color and want it to have more stripes. Would I just rotate after every few rows to the next color or finish a color? It’s my first time doing one of these

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can swap colors at any point you like. It looks most seamless if done at the end of a row.

    I am looking for measurements to make a chunky blanket for a queen bed, can you help?

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would look up the standard size of a queen comforter to when you start your blanket keep measuring your first chain until it’s the width of a queen comforter then start adding rows measuring as you go until it’s the length of a queen comforter.

    This video is great and I’ve made several blankets using it. But I’m having a problem with my blanket “growing” in width. I’ve followed the video and first loops to a tee. I’ve ripped it out several times because it ends up being wider than I wanted. Any tips or know what I’m doing wrong??

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blanket will stretch over time depending on the tightness of the loops and yarn you are using. Try to keep your loops tight as you go. It’s not going to be a perfect square because it is such chunky yarn. I’m glad you are enjoying the video! Thank you for your feedback.

    Hi, could it be done with a less chunky chenille?

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly but your loops would have to be pretty small for the blanket to hold up and have a shape.

    How many balls do you think I would need for a 50x60?

    • @CraftwithBethany
      @CraftwithBethany  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure because it depends on the type of yarn, it’s stretch and how tight or loose you make your loops. I used 9.5 sirens for mine and it’s huge.
