Good video 🙌🏾 Got an M6 last week to shoot video content, so far so good for the price. Won't replace my DSLR for photography though, but a great powerful camera for travel and those quick shots on the road. Low light performance isn't amazing but the only drawback I have 👍🏾

Dude I subscribed when you were shooting Nikon because you gave great advice (especially using the monopod as a weapon). I’m still torn between this, the 200D(SL2), or the rumoured upcoming 90D to vlog with.
Quigon Jim I’d recommend a 200D simply because it’s smaller and easier to carry around. Also, it will be lighter when you cold, whereas the 90D (based on what we see for 80D) will be hefty. Also, the 200D is already out, we don’t know how long it will be till we see the 90D. Btw, did I mention, the 200D will also be much cheaper than the 90D?
well given the option, I'd take the 80D or the "90D" but that is just personal taste. The 80D is no doubt a better stills camera. But it comes down to what you want or need. The SL2 is an amazing camera for the price point.
Excellent video Eric. Ya know I do not understand why so many vloggers do not get a small camcorder like the Sony AX53. It has both optical and electronic IS. Very good low light performance, solid AF performance (as good as my 80D), it has a hot shoe and mic input. Plus it shoots 50Mbps 4k video.. Its what I started using for my videos last fall and it works great. I still upload at 1080p, but wow my 1080p looks great now :-) That said, they are also light and come in about $800 bucks..
@Eric, yea I can not figure out why either. They will go out get an 80D or one of the Panasonic m4/3 camera and put a slow aperture wide angle on it. Yet, cost way more then a AX53. Then they complain about everything.. I got to tell ya the optical stabilization is amazing in this thing, it may not deliver gyro gimbal quality, but it comes close. Turn on the additional digital IS and it becomes so freaking buttery smooth you would be asking yourself why you didn't go this route the first time. I can understand if someone wants to create video with OOF backgrounds as that is really hard to do with this camera. But then again its also hard not to have everything in focus too. I think another youtuber said it best a while back, why bother with anything better then a AX53 when almost 2/3rds of your viewers are watching your videos on their smartphones.. And I agree, about half of mine are already. Which is why I do not post in 4k despite having the hardware to do it. Plus I edit in 4k also. I think proper 1080p is perfectly fine. One of the major reasons I got my AX53 was due to 1080p video from a DSLR looking more like 720p. So much resolution just wasted due to pixel binning. The before and after in my videos when I switched was without a doubt very noticeable. Even when scaled down in a browser window. :-)
I can break this down for you. I actually thought about getting a camcorder for my youtube videos. Ultimately I ended up going M4/3 because of affordable 4k, IBIS, lens choices, size, etc. But the reasons why I wouldn't get a dedicated camcorder is because 1 - DSLR/Mirrorless cams are more versatile with being primarily photography devices that also happen to take great videos - A Sony A6300 will give you great images while also giving you solid video and still being small. 2 - More creative freedom. The option of different lenses available allow you to get different looks and depth of fields to give you more creative looks to your vlogs should you choose. With a Camcorder. You're stuck with the same lens whether you want to be or not. I currently shoot with a kit lens on my G85. But my next lens is a 25mm f1.7 which will give me the 50mm look with a shallower DOF. 3 - As Eric said. Stigma. Camcorders are seen as used for either "home movies" or Serious filmmaking tools (C200, FS5, etc). Until Casey Neistat, Sawyer Hartman, Peter McKinnon or whoever comes out and makes it cool to use your dad's old camcorder to make youtube videos with. It's not going to be cool. And why don't those guys use Camcorders, see my 2 reasons above. Hey for a lot of people like it might actually be more practical for them to use a camcorder and they might get better results for their beauty blogs or exercise channel. But the people they look up to don't. Including.. Eric.
Well size wise, a AX53 is actually smaller then a DSLR (APS-C or m4/3) I really do not agree on. The AX53 is very light and smaller then a DSLR. But creative wise due to lens choices, yea we both agree on that. Price wise though a AX53 is around 800 up to 900 USD. Which makes it more affordable. That said, I get the creative part. But I am more talking about those youtubers who just vlog and stick with one wide angle lens. Its really not a good investment for them.
@@Eric_Rossi I was waiting for someone to ask..lol..I have some old Canon FD glass one being a 400mm f2.8L lens that can now finally be used with a Canon camera ,with an adaptor that does not contain glass such as the cheap FD to Eos adaptors on ebay ,that degrade the image quality. Previously the EF mount extended the flange distance (film/sensor to front of camera lens mount) to 44mm meaning that FD lenses couldn't make use of a simple physical adaptor (they had a 42mm flange distance).By doing this a physical adaptor without glass was impossible to make.Now Canon did once make a half decent FD to Eos adaptor,when the Eos mount was introduced. These are rare as hens teeth,still contained glass to achieve proper focus and if you do find one it will cost $1,000 for the adaptor alone.
Thinking about getting this as a backup to my Nikon Z6. But I wish Canon would produce a pancake lens compatible with the M line similar to the 40mm f2.8 pancake so it's pocketable. I know I could add it with an adapter but that makes it bulkier. The 22mm pancake lens is too narrow for portraits.
Not really, Canon changed things up with their batteries so I wouldnt feel comfortable going third party honestly. I used to be that way but I've had third party batteries burn out quickly and damage the camera. So I've just stayed on brand, plus if anything goes wrong the brand can easily help. Especially under warranty.

Yeah, I wouldnt touch the g7x line anymore as they dont have dual pixel af. Not saying its bad, but all depends on what you want a camera like this for.

hmm are you shooting 4K? 45 mins wouldnt be possible as the recording limit is 30 mins without an external monitor. What SD card are you using, what class?

nope, its pretty good! With anything you have to take care of it sure and not be reckless but this isnt a bigger build camera so it has its give or takes
I've messed with the a5, its meh. Nothing exciting about it to me. Plus the video, besides it not having 4k which I dont care about, is so much better in the M6

Its overpriced product. Here in my country cost 1599 lv. While sony models cost almost two times half that price. For 475 lv there are nokia smartphones with full 4K capabilities. Panasonic have also very good models. Camcorders. In good light conditions anything can do the job. Only in poor light conditions, low light scenarios but i have a flashlight of which cost 20 lv. So that is reducilously overpriced product. I will grab JVC camcorder over this anytime. 4h+ battery life at continious shooting. Good luck to beat that. And i can swim with the camera. What about the olympus tg tracker? 499 lv and have 4 K video. I want fast speed, weather proof for hardcore scenarios camera. Low light scenarios? Tell you what you cant beat my flashlight of 20 lv. Light is light nothing you can do around that. Cellphone with my light beats the crap out of your M6 without extra light. Be honest how much lights you have in your studio? Because many people think that if they grab M6 gonna match your video with camera right out of the box without anything else on auto mode. Put a candle in pitch black room, place the camera 4 meters away from you without any extra light and then talk about incredible low light performance. Because for 1599 lv has to be incredible incredible.
M6 or Fujifilm XT100 for photography AND vlogs? Don't care about 4K filming but I DO care about image quality, ease of use, low light performance, and lens selection (I have none as this will be first mirrorless). Thanks!

Its overpriced product. Here in my country cost 1599 lv. While sony models cost almost two times half that price. For 475 lv there are nokia smartphones with full 4K capabilities. Panasonic have also very good models. Camcorders. In good light conditions anything can do the job. Only in poor light conditions, low light scenarios but i have a flashlight of which cost 20 lv.
So that is reducilously overpriced product. I will grab JVC camcorder over this anytime. 4h+ battery life at continious shooting. Good luck to beat that. And i can swim with the camera. What about the olympus tg tracker? 499 lv and have 4 K video.
I want fast speed, weather proof for hardcore scenarios camera. Low light scenarios? Tell you what you cant beat my flashlight of 20 lv. Light is light nothing you can do around that. Cellphone with my light beats the crap out of your M6 without extra light.
Be honest how much lights you have in your studio? Because many people think that if they grab M6 gonna match your video with camera right out of the box without anything else on auto mode. Put a candle in pitch black room, place the camera 4 meters away from you without any extra light and then talk about incredible low light performance. Because for 1599 lv has to be incredible incredible.
M6 or Fujifilm XT100 for photography AND vlogs? Don't care about 4K filming but I DO care about image quality, ease of use, low light performance, and lens selection (I have none as this will be first mirrorless). Thanks!
M6 no question! Much better autoficus! using the kit lens that comes with it, leaving it toward the wider angle, will easily help for vlogging.
