What's up everyone?! I would love feedback about the Canon M6 review. Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏
Thanks! So the exposure compensation is only needed if you want it. It's not something you have to do. It's one of those manual settings you use if you want to override what the camera is doing. You can just leave everything on Auto and the camera does great! Autofocus is sick. Let me know if anything else comes up.
love this camera. great range of lenses and lightweight for travelling as a kit. would be great to see some samples images and as a contrast to other options in the price/feature-function range. EF-M 22 lens is glorious. and the adaptor opens up the entire EF/EF-S range. work-arounds required for adding a microphone just like the M5 needed one for tripods if you want the flip screen in play.
I completely agree Peter, the size along with the many lens choices make this a formidable contender. I have not had a chance to use the EF-M 22 yet but am looking forward to it. You bring up an excellent point about the EF-M to EF/EF-S adapter. I really should have included that as an option. I'm not sure how many users would actually buy EF/EF-S lenses specifically for this camera but some will. And furthermore, if you already have those lenses, it would be important to know that they can use them. Love the mic input, opens up so many doors. Thank you so much for the insightful comment. Did you see the G7 X Mark II review? I also have one coming up in a few days for the SL2
good evening. the 22mm is a permanent feature on mine. the only fast/native EF-M option. the M5/M6 makes a perfect pairing with a FF canon DSLR so the ability to buy EF/EF-S lenses and use anywhere is a huge win. lots of great options and a maximal return on investment. works for me ;-) . an extension plate for the mic is a solid tip also. I hadn't and will look out for it over the next day or so. Ill keep an eye out for the SL2. ( I went M6 rather than GX7 due to the lens and mic options - very curious to see how you find them in comparison as a vlogging camera of choice. merry Christmas to you and yours.

Have this camera, got it for $300 and it's amazing. I use it with the adapter and it works pretty good with EF lenses.
Hi Zena and thank you so much for the kind words. You know what... I think you're absolutely right. And I realized that after I completed the review. I know it's a totally different camera (and price point) but do you might checking out: th-cam.com/video/piVizzzImEU/w-d-xo.html (my latest review) and letting me know if it's more balanced. I very much appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback.
W O W this was literally the BEST review ever for this camera!!!! And believe me I have watch ALL of them here on TH-cam!!! Thanks so much!!! I will purchase this camera to upgrade the quality game for my TH-cam channel😄
That is so nice of you to say Elena. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. I just started making these so I hope people are finding them useful and that they help in the (sometimes intimidating and confusing) process. Did I cover everything you wanted to know?
I saw this camera in-store at a year end discounted price. I watched this video review and it spoke to every single question I had about this particular device and thoroughly touched on the most important features for my needs. Good demos too. Thank you for helping me make an informed purchasing decision. :)
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and for the kind words. I'm so glad the video helped you make a decision. CONGRATS!! Thank you for joining the community 🙏
I’ve watched all the Canon M6 vids that I can find, and yours is by far the best. I enjoy your insite and practical approach to cameras. I enjoy photography with vintage lens on mirrorless cameras. Thank you for your time!
Oh, wow, thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback. I would greatly appreciate you sharing any videos you like! What did you think of the M6?
I agree, I did a review of it here: th-cam.com/video/WEQtH8hh8dM/w-d-xo.html and also a comparison with the M6 and G7Xmkii here: th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html
Buying my first camera ever today for gym footage/vlogging. Thank you for this review it answered all my questions and gave me more info than i asked for in a very clear and informative manner! Keep it up !
I don't own it yet but I'm trying to decide between the M6 and the 6D MKII. I take a lot of indoor video and currently have an 80D but I need something with better low light performance. Thus, thinking of going full frame OR putting a Samyang 12 mm f2 on the M6. Really for me it's a question of smaller size or better low light performance (with the right high speed lens).
That makes sense. I'd still want a fast lens, regardless of the sensor size, but it sounds like you have that covered. What type of videos are you shooting? Are you able to easily help with additional lighting or are you always having to shoot with what's available?
I'm a realtor and mainly shoot interiors alone so portability and speed is important as well. Starting to lean towards the M6 with the Rokinon 12 mm f2 on a Zhiyun Crane. Especially since the Rokinon disables the camera's stabilization when attached. Thoughts?...
I would get the Zhiyun Crane regardless of the lens. I just looked at your page, for what you're doing, you need the footage to look professional. No level of in-body or lens image stabilization is going to give you what a dedicated 3-axis gimbal will do. It will immediately pay for itself and the production value is totally worth it.
this sold me, ive been looking at multiple different cameras with a flip-screen from the G7x to the Cybershot. Never done much with Canon but this sold me on it.
Awesome, glad it was helpful. One last feature I wanted to mention. If you need the ability to control the camera for video with an app on your phone, the M6 can't do that (see here th-cam.com/video/qK3lFZemX9I/w-d-xo.html) The M50, which is more expensive, is a little better all around and has that feature: th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html I'm not suggesting that you need to spend more money, but I wanted you to be aware of this before you buy. Let me know if yo have any questions.
You are seriously the best camera reviewer I’ve found. I’m just getting into photography but you’ve answered questions I didn’t even know I had. Thank you!
You can use Canon's regular DSLR APS-C and full frame lenses with adapter for this camera. Not all the EF-M lenses are for low light or higher power telephoto.
You are too kind; I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment. Thank you for the encouraging words and please let me know if you have any questions.
I hate that no one uses the m6 in cinematic way. Im trying to get a good film look from the M6. Can you do some videos on the picture profiles? Im so tired of every video being about vlogging lol
The most popular option for picture profiles on the M6 (or any canon camera) is going to be Cinestyle. It's a faux-LOG profile and it's free. That means it's going to be as flat as the camera can possibly go, but it's still not going to capture as much dynamic range as LOG because these cameras simply aren't capable of it. It works really well and gets 70-80% of the results that LOG does, but it does introduce some extra noise. Travel Feels goes into this in one of his most recent videos, but what a lot of people using these cameras do is adjust the stock "Neutral" profile to have the absolute lowest contrast you can get. Again it gets pretty much all the dynamic range the camera is capable of - this time not quite as much as Cinestyle, but it also tends to be sharper and doesn't have the problem with noise. Personally, that's the route I'd take with the M6 (and plan to when I eventually buy one) because it doesn't have a very high bitrate. That means if you use a faux-LOG profile like Cinestyle, the colors might not be accurate and you'll get banding issues. Those can be avoided with a customized Neutral profile. I'm going to start doing a lot more tips/tricks videos for Canon cameras on my channel soon so maybe check it out! Or don't. This wasn't meant to be an ad, just trying to help. PS If you're trying to get the absolute most dynamic range, the best thing to do is get a camera that's compatible with Magic Lantern (specifically, versions of it that have a RAW video function). Since you have an M6, I'd recommend investing in the original EOS M. You lose some features (articulating screen, autofocus) but it's only $200 on eBay, so you can use it solely for those HDR shots, then use your M6 for everything else. It's also super helpful to have a B Cam. DSLR Video Shooter does an awesome demonstration of how amazing RAW video looks on the EOS M and how you can get an entire B Cam setup with a lens and cage for less than $300.
Love my M6, perfect for travel, walking and easy to carry in my motorcycle tank bag touring. Bought the adapter and can use all my EF lenses. For videos superb...especially mated with a Rode mic on a flash side mount.
Thank you Andy!!! Super appreciate you taking the time to leave me feedback. It's a super nice camera. Much nicer than I expected from such a small camera. What would you use it for?
You are very welcome sir ! Yes, my doubt for this camera suddenly gone when i watched this! 😁, actually i want to use it for my channel, which is entertaining people and doing pranks, i really need the super-cool AF and the zoom lenses (55-200) .. wish me luck finding them 😁 god bless you man !
The Dual Pixel AF is absolutely awesome on this camera so that's not going to be an issue. So as long as you pick up the 55-200 from the description you're going to be all set. I just saw your channel....way bigger than mine 😂 I'm really happy that you found this video helpful. I would appreciate you sharing it if possible 🙏. Thank you again!
Thanks for the great review! I was planning to get the m10 but I've been hearing a lot of good things about m6, especially in this video. Now, I've changed my mind and I like m6 more. Thanks!
Hi @TechGearTalk , I'm about to buy a used unit M6 as I'm about to pickup photography as a new hobby. Should I just do that or should I opt for either the cheaper M200 or newer M50 Mk ii? Thank you. Appreciate opinions / advices from community as well.
I really like the size of the M6 and all the features. Additionally it's great that you find a numerous amount of additional equipment to fit your individual needs. Btw. great video, as usual 😉
Thank you so much for watching and the feedback. The M6 is so nice! I just got the M50 and I'll be doing a live stream this weekend if you're interested. (if you're a sub and have notification turned on you'll get a notice).
I kind of ignored this camera for a while but then canon announced the m6 ii which got me interested. Then I realized the old m6 is not only lighter and thinner, it's also SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. $350 on ebay right now versus $850. You can buy two of them and even a pancake lens to boot. And you even get 24p, which canon has graciously decided to kill off on all their new cameras.
This is a great review, I bought one straight after this video. Alas, it was lost and never arrived and I get my payment back. Just today I found out about canon Eos 50 newly released, can't wait for your review on it.
Super glad you liked it but sorry that it didn't arrive :( The M50 looks great. I need a bunch of people to donate $1 each so I can pick it up as soon as it's released 😂 I'll make sure I have a review soon!
Would you reccomend the M6 or the Sony A6000 as a first "proper" camera? Will mainly be used for photography, can get both second hand for about the same price, been watching a lot of your vids lately trying to decide on which camera to get on a budget, thanks.
Hi. I like your reviews with nice content and explanations. I've got a question here... What camera could you recommend in this category for vlogging? I can see this is a good camera but just wondering if there is anything else out there? Thanks
Great video. I have 2 M6 Mark II’s, but am needing a third camera for my livestream. This looks like it will fit in the lineup perfectly without having the heftier price tag. Thanks for the info.
Hi there... Greetings from Indonesia. Really love your video, very informative. Pls advise, as I couldn't decide which one to choose: 18-150mm or 55-200mm? I already have 18-55 kit lens and 22mm fixed lens. Am looking for a telephoto lens, actually. So 55-200 would suit me best. Yet, 18-150 is really attractive as it can serve as all-rounder lens: wide and zoom at the same time. So, pls give me some advices here. Thanks... !
Greetings and thank you for the kind words. Look at it this way. Will the difference between 150mm and 200mm make enough of a difference for you shoot, over the ability to have one lens that covers all the way from 18-150? Only you know how you shoot. If you need that extra telephoto, then that is your answer. If you value versatility over having to change lenses, then 18-150mm. If you're going to carry multiple lenses, then maybe the 55-200 works because it will keep the 18-55 much smaller and lighter.
Thankyou so much for this. This is sheer magic to me. (I just got one and am still working out what it does) Your video was very helpful. Thank you. imma sub up.
Yes, it would work well. The fact that you a microphone input makes it even better. Here is a video for some good options: th-cam.com/video/r4pZQepv4r4/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps.
Oh, wow, thank you so much, I'm so happy that it was helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions. If you would like to support the channel, you can use the links in the description to make your purchase (even if you don't buy the exact model that is linked to) What do you plan on using the M6 for?
I found some Canon & mirrorless facebook groups and people have been great help in those groups! I want this camera for travel, Vlogs, and honestly just growth. I have a NIKON SLR but I feel like I can grow with this one more and learn about lenses and such.
I think that mirrorless is the way of the future. The gap is shrinking and the convenience and portability just can't be beat! So excited for you. And by the way, the Silver one is FOR SURE the way to go. I saw it too late :(
Just had to say I really enjoyed the video man. Real quality and easy for a fairly new guy like me to understand. I play between my phone on a snoppa m1 gimble and an older canon M. I think the M6 will give me all of what I need plus more. I had better start saving. Have a great day.
Mark, I'm so happy that the video was helpful and enjoyable. How do you like the Snoppa M1. I've never used it and it has a little different design than most (which I like because it leaves the sides exposed).
Thanks for the reply, its nice to see someone monitoring the comments. I maybe new on a lot of camera tech, however nothing beats good old fashioned two way communication and feedback, so thanks again. I was an original crowd funder backer and it took ages to receive the product, I had almost given up hope. The companies communication was non existent. I think in the end they realised this and in Europe anyway they partnered with a German company to take over the logistics and communications. I am based in the UK. The Snoppa M1 itself I didn't get at first, you do need to spend time playing with it and testing the settings. To be honest it was in my draw for a few months as I wasn't sure how to use it. However in the past few months I am doing more video on facebook mainly for promoting myself and a local event I hold. I realised I want to expand this into other business interests so I bought the Canon M and started playing with that too. I will use the Canon until I can upgrade to a newer model for indoor videos to youtube or for landing page content etc. However now I have the Snoppa M1 back out and I am getting used to it I will be using that for on the fly vlogs and possibly some b roll footage as the image stabilisation is great, it means if I don't have my camera and I want to shoot I can. I have managed to get the set up so I can use a lav mic with it and I love that you can set it on lock and walk around the camera and shoot yourself with the main rear camera on the iphone. Alright you can't monitor yourself but you get a better video and by locking the tracking you should know where to stand. It really is a great piece of kit and the youtube videos on how to use it properly from the company are good. Its a great size if a little heavy, but I like that I know I am holding it. It can go in your pocket or a bag and be ready to go in seconds. It's so flexible with vertical and horizontal shooting and you can turn it upside down for low shots. It comes with its own app but will work without it. What can be a pain is that I have to remove the phone cover before using but happy to do that to get a good stable shot and now I can get the sound ok, with an external mic it give me a few more things I can do with it. If you get the chance to try one, do so. It has its issues but is surprising if you are creative and will work for me as I don't always take a camera with me as I do a number of jobs. I should maybe do a review on my channel, I am so new I only have a test video on there (yes I am that new). I like to think its not terrible for a first video but I know I can improve a lot. I look forward to watching more of you videos, take care and thanks again.
Thanks for all that info. I always appreciate first-hand accounts. Looks like a nice device and I love how small it is when it folds up. Yup, we all have to start somewhere, so it is what it is. I hope to take my channel to the next level this year. I have a ton of work to do! Smart that your'e using these tools for other ventures as well.
Gr8 video.... Very helpful.... Can u please let me know is there any video quality difference between Canon M6 and Canon SL2? I am really confused between the 2....is the low light performance bad in M6 if compared to SL2? Is der any downside if u compare m6 with sl2?
Thanks! I answered on the other video too. I don’t have a comparison with the M6 because I upgraded to the m50. Here is that comparison. th-cam.com/video/XEhsU-aEX04/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I'm from Malaysia and own the M6. Is it possible to use this as a webcam? The Webcam Utility does not have the M6 listed as a supported model, only the M6 Mark 2. Any way to connect this to my computer and use it as a webcam to live stream? Thanks!
Really wanted the m50 :( but the m6 is about $380 on eBay compared to m50 around $550-650 so m6 it is lol that 300 bucks can do a lot more. thanks for your help
Are desk microphones such as the Blue Yeti compatible with the M6? If so, would I connect the two with an AUX cord? And which camera would you recommend for shooting pranks from reasonable distance away - M6 vs M50 vs SL2 vs G7 X Mark II?
I have never used a usb mic with a camera. I don't know how that would work because I'm not sure it would draw enough power. Maybe there is a powered usb and an adapter. I've never done it though. Look into one of these cameras: th-cam.com/video/MKwAWWyv9vU/w-d-xo.html
Hi Callie - hope the video was helpful. I updated the description to include the mount/tripod/microphone that I used to make it easy. (It's a Rode VideoMicro). Here is another video I did comparing a few other microphones that would work (including that one) at different price points.
ah, ef-m lenses only have one macro right now: 28mm f/3.5. If you get an adapter (called ef/ef-s adapter for ef-m) you can use all the canon lenses. Watch this: th-cam.com/video/UUPqjPs5Iw8/w-d-xo.html
Great review. More camera than anyone in the comments could ask for. If you’re looking for a better lens selection, you’re kidding yourself; and you need more primes at different focal length, your shouldn’t consider this...or get the adapter. This is a solid camera for those who know how to use it. Any shortcomings you feel? Then get another camera. The M6 would be a welcome addition to anyone’s bag. Hell, I’d use it for wedding candid shots and paid gigs; street; vlog and an everyday camera.
I totally agree that it's a great camera, and with the adapter, you can use all the lenses you could possibly want. Do you still think it's worth getting now that the M50 is around? th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html
I’m not sure which camera to pick for my TH-cam videos, a canon m6 or the m100? I need one with a mic input, and for good sit down TH-cam content/vlogging?
@@TechGearTalk Thank you, I looked into those. But I'm not really looking for cameras like that. I'm looking for something similar to the canon g7x but more budget friendly.
M6 all the way. You're going to love the flip screen and even if you don't use the mic input in the beginning, you'll get to a point where you'll want it
I was actually looking at the M6 because I had a very good experience with the M3. But I had some serious concerns about the M6, the first being the kit lens was all plastic including the mount as compared to the one that came with the M3, which I thought was a better lens. Also, the M series had been around for about five years and there were not many lenses which made me think Canon didn't really have its heart into mirrorless. Finally, I stumbled upon the Lumix G85 which was LESS expensive than the M6 with a feature set I could not believe and a very wide selection of professional lenses. I am/was a Canon person. Notwithstanding the autofocus which is better on the M6, the M6 is a terrible bang for the buck. I really wanted to like it but could not justify it in comparison to the G85.
The G7XM2 is so small and light. You can pretty much take it with you anywhere and never even think about it. This is especially true because the lens retracts. The M6 is bigger and heavier for sure (even though it's relatively small). It will allow you to use an external microphone if you want (th-cam.com/video/hE84RCziiv8/w-d-xo.html). That will give you better audio, especially in challenging conditions, but will make the setup even bigger. This is another excellent option to replace the M6 th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html (it has one very important feature both other cameras are missing - remote control) Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.
I think you have just helped me buy a camera! Doing TH-cam videos and also work videos for training.. so if this doesn’t have 4K that’s ok? Don’t nesscarily need it?
Thanks! For everything you see in this video, I use the Standard picture profile. For video, make sure your shutterspeed is (about) 2x your frames per second. Meaning, if you are shooting at 30fps (or 29.97) your shutterspeed needs to be at 60. If you need an explanation of exposure, watch this video: th-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/w-d-xo.html let me know in the comments in you have any questions.
Hello Tech Gear Talk. I'm glad that i found this video. Thank you for detail and all of information that you have made in this video. I'm plan to buy eos m6 to become my second camera. I have some question. Directly to the 5 axis digital in body stabilisation, is it good enough for the video result? and is it effective when we use it for recorded with handheld mode? or its depend on our lens's IS system? Thank you so much. Greeting from Indonesia
The more IS you have the better. Can it be used handheld, yes of course. And the results are definitely more than usable. Now, it's not going to look like you're on a tripod or using a 3 axis gimbal, but it will definitely look better than any camera without it. I don't mind some camera movement in the right situation, so it really depends on how you plan on using it. If you're really going to be walking around a lot and pointing the camera in different directions, use a 3 axis gimbal. Otherwise, if it's pointing at you and you're walking around, it will be good enough.
This is what I needed. I click on your B & H link and purchased the M6. Only 2 years after you posted this video lol. Thanks, my man! #EvergreenContent
Hi Ian thanks for watching and congrats on the camera!! It's made by Vello and I just added a link in the description. Costs under $10 and works awesome! Let me know if you have any questions!
Tech Gear Talk thank you! I'm very new to photography, using a camera, etc. Do you recommend any videos to learn how to use the features of this camera?
Before getting into this camera specifically. If you're not going to use "auto", do you have a good understanding of exposure? If not, check out my video on getting the perfect exposure. I'll warn you... it's an early video that I did, so please keep that in mind. It does have the info you need though to understand exposure. Once you see it, you'll know how to use any camera. If you have specific questions, please ask them in the comments section and I'll get back to you ASAP! I'm always happy to help.
PLEASE HELP!!! I have a Canon EOS M6, but I am going on a safari in a couple weeks and would like to use the same camera base with an adaptor and zoom lens. What would you recommend to get sharp and good photos at a distance?
Thank you for watching Mark. I'm super appreciative of you taking the time to leave feedback and am really glad that the review was helpful. You help motivate me to do more reviews! What are you shooting with now?
Great review ! I purchased this camera today and super exited to start using it. One question I have that you don’t go over or maybe you did but I missed it is how long can you record before it stops on you? I know some cameras can only record for like 30min at a time, does this one have a limit ???
Hi Vanessa, thank you for the compliment. The M6, is such a great camera! Are you going to be doing more makeup videos? As far as recording time, that is correct, you're limited to 29.5 minutes on the M6. That is true for all cameras that are NOT camcorders or cinema cameras. It has to do with the way cameras are taxed in parts of the world. Cinema and camcorders are taxed at a higher rate so camera manufacturers put this arbitrary limit (anything that can record for longer than 29.5 minutes is considered a cinema camera or a camcorder). Not sure who came up with that or how it makes any kind of sense. It's not a big deal for you. Since you'll have the screen facing you, when you see it climb up there in minutes, just STOP/START and keep going. Let me know if you have any questions.
I wanted to upgrade my camera from Canon 600D lol , we can't properly use manual focus in videos on that , now after watching your so many videos, u made me confuse now lol , but now I think I found my camera under my budget for 1080p 60fps , DPAF and compact design . Iam really thinking for this Canon M6 .
Hi, I live in Japan and I really enjoy your videos. I love tech gears and I also love studying English. So your videos are perfect for me to use as English training material. My dream is to speak about tech gears in English fluently. I practice English pronunciation by repeating what you say in the video. You always speak clearly and you are easy to listen to., so you are my good teacher. But there is only one part that I can't catch. It's at 0:20 The English subtitle says 'and they're gonna be looking into ~' but I can't hear you that way. It would be great if you could tell me what you exactly say there. Thank you!
Tech Gear Talk Thank you so much for your reply. Actually, what I asked you was just before ‘looking into’ The subtitle says ‘And they’re gonna be ~’ But I don’t hear that way. I just wonder if it was lack of my listening skills or the subtitle was not correct. Thank you!
Heyyyy, so if this camera is going spare... could I have it maybe? Or at least buy it from you for like a very very reduced price 😅 sorry, I just really don’t have enough money to buy my own and it’s my dream to create films or TH-cam videos, I get it’s a stretch but gotta shoot my shot ya know 😊
I'm thinking about getting this. I'm wondering how well it does for theatre work...in dark, or low light situations? Also...does that shutter....get quite? Can you make it have no sound? Since I work in a theatre....there are often times, when the performer needs to be the only noise.... I currently have the Canon T7i...and will have to send the camera back...because I cannot shut that shutter sound off during the theatre.... I'm not a professional. I'm just trying to get the best I can for my income..thanks.
Hi Christine, thank you for watching and that's a great question. This is a mirrorless camera, so you're going to get rid of the noise that the mirror makes when it moves out of the way (watch this video to learn more: th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html ) As far as low light, it's going to do fine because I'm assuming the performer is actually well lighted. Make sure you have an understanding of shutterspeed/aperture/iso (here is some help: th-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/w-d-xo.html ; you'll need this for ANY camera) After you watch those two videos, let me know if you have any questions in the comment section. I'm here to help.
Hi, Thanks for the video:) I noticed that the lens release button is kind of loose on my m6, doesn’t take much pressure to press on it. Do u have the same thing?
Hi, thanks for watching. I no longer have the M6 (I use this now instead: th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html ). I don't remember noticing that it was loose though.
Thank you so much for your clear video. would you recommend this or the SL2. I am new to photography and I care more about stills than video. Please let me know. Thanks
You are very welcome. Both cameras are going to do a great job for photography. I like the M6 because it's smaller and more portable and I like the SL2 because you can use all the higher end lenses with it. However, I'm not sure if you're looking to buy/use those lenses. Did you watch my comparison video of these 2 and the G7 X Mark II?
Thanks. My M6 will come standard with 15-45 lens. I’m thinking of also getting an 18-150 or 55-200 telephoto lens. Which would you think is the more useful?
Well, it’s like a one lens solution. It’s super close to you kit lens and can go to 18 and then can still give you 150. Also opens up to 3.5. So if you were only taking one lens, this is the best option
You deserve a lot more subscribers! This video is super helpful. I think this camera will be perfect for me. I need a compact camera that can shoot b-roll and for in car video and vlog style videos. Was looking at Sony a6xxx series but as we shoot so many car events and are outdoors a lot in the summer the overheating issues really turned me off. As well as the lack of mic input on the cheaper models and the expensive lenses.
Hi Donovan, thanks for watching. I hope that I'm creating content that is valuable and subscribers will come if that is the case. I super appreciate the comment! The M6 is so underrated, I really love it. It offers so much in such a small package. I'm actually testing out the Sony a6500 right now. I should have that video up within a week and I'll cover as much as possible. I believe most of the overheating issues had to do with shooting 4K video for prolonged periods of time in warmer environments. But, that's obviously not "great". Lack of mic input for me is an immediate NO if I'm going to use it for video, unless of course it is only used for b-roll. But as you mentioned, you'll be doing vlogging as well so I wouldn't buy a new camera without one (sounds like you got that covered already). Canon len options are endless and that's super hard to compete with for any other manufacturer. If you end up buying this camera, I would super appreciate if you would use the links in the description (if possible). Which mic do you plan on using?
Thanks for the video. I went to best buy and tried the sony 1" and aps-c cameras and couldn't figure them out. I don't like the 16x9 lcd of the 6000 series. When I used the m6 it was immediately user friendly and duel pixel was everything I expected. I couldn't put it down. I'm still saving up for it. Your video was easy to understand and answered my questions. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving feedback. The Canon line is very intuitive and I've always felt like things were where I expected them to be. The M6 is an awesome camera and when you're ready, I'm confident you would like it. What would you use it for?
+Tech Gear Talk I would use it for hiking, landscapes and wildflower mostly. The body price came down and I would get the ef-m 11-22. People say it's good for landscapes. I'm not a video guy. I like the g1xm3 for it's weather resistance but I haven't tried it. I like that it's standard zoom can macro focus to 10cm. I don't see any aps-c standard zoom that can focus to 10cm.
It would be a great camera to take hiking because it's so compact. the 11-22 is a really nice lens. The G1 X MK III is also nice but it doesn't have interchangeable lenses so you won't be able to go as wide as the 11-22 (comes with a 24-72). The minimum focus distance is going to be a function of the lens and not the body/sensor. So for the M6 each lens would have a different minimum focus distance. Here is one that has a minimum focus of 9.3cm amzn.to/2Cl9uNC
+Tech Gear Talk Thanks for your advice. That looks like a great lens for wildflower macros. I will look at reviews for it. Thanks for your time. Liked and subscribed.
You the best reviewer ,, I love your channel,, I never supported any channel via patron but I think you deserve it .. thanks for all the awesome uploads
Really struggling choosing between the M6 and the Canon G7 Mark ii... if price wasn't a factor, which would you recommend? I want to use it for sit-down videos and taking photos for my blog (possibly vlogs in future).
Hi Anna. Thanks for watching. I would get the M50 over both of those. th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html Take a look at that video and let me know if you have any questions. Better quality, faster processor, external mic input and remote control.
Decided on taking your advice and getting the M50. Just one last question... should I take the 11-22mm lens or the 15-45mm lens? Thank you for your replies, I appreciate it so much!
Ok perfect, because that was going to be my next question. So assuming you aren't vlogging or doing anything like that (where you would want/need a flip screen). Also assuming that price is not an issue bc the a6300 is $200 more in the US. They are fairly even in terms of quality. The a6300 probably has slightly better image quality. I really don't like the sony menu system so from a user experience standpoint I like the Canon better. If this is even remotely possible, I would go to a store and play with both. This is a step most people skip. However, I think that's a mistake. When you're down to 2 cameras, there is going to be one that feels better and more natural. Thoughts?
Hello. Fantastic review. I really like that you go in depth about the camera. I think this camera will be great for me, as I'm new to TH-cam and want to start to create. Have you tried other lenses on it, like the 11-22mm? Thanks!
Hi Remi. Thank you so much for the feedback. I am so glad that you enjoyed the amount of detail I covered. The M6 is a wonderful camera. It is super powerful and I can't believe all it can do in such a small package. Yes, I've used the 11-22 and it's a great choice for this camera, especially if you vlog. Also, you can start with the kit lens and then add later on which is super nice. Congratulations on being new to TH-cam! I am also just starting out on this journey and it really makes me happy when my videos provide people with the info they need. Let me know if you have any other questions. What are you shooting with now?
I've only made a couple of films shooting with my GoPro Hero 3 and iPhone, but it made me realize that this was something that I want to try out. Really looking forward to summer so that I can vlog/make mountain bike videos. And the M6 seems like a good camera to start out with (not to expencive)
Agreed. It's a great value. I tried watching a few of your videos but I couldn't understand them ☺. Let me know when some of your mountain bike videos are up!
Thanks for that review! I am considering buying one and I can't seem to find the max size of SD card that it will take. If you have that information, that would be great! Thanks!
nice review! i just bought the sl2,so i wont buy a new one for now but i like to watch other products.. just suscribed to your channel, keep the good job!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I just published a Sony RX10 IV video. Interesting camera for sure. Let me know what you think. How do you like the SL2?
i'm new on this hobby. its my first dslr and i think its perfect for me...really easy to use for a beginner and the image quality still there. because its easy to use, that make me want to keep learning to be better..
I love the SL2. I think it’s a fantastic camera. Plus, everything you learn on it, you will be able to apply to your next camera, whenever that happens. I just published a new review of the Sony RX10 IV. Check out the telephoto on that one!!!!
yeah i just watch the vids! i wanna do more videos then pictures so,that RX10 IV looks very good for videos. but 1600$ US in canadians dollars that mean a much more, plus the sales taxes in quebec are 15% :-o i dont think i can justify to my wife a 2000$ plus for a camera hahaha!!!
Definitely not!! We don't need you getting in trouble. Plus, since you have the SL2 you can just get new lenses when/if you need them. What do you use it for mainly?
Hi there! I want to buy my first ever camera and am super confused which to get. Looking to get a mirrorless camera; my options are A6000, M100, M50, M6 and Fujifilm X-A3. I'm an absolute beginner but aiming to get to the semi-professional level. My priority is taking photos, not videos (vlogging and such). Thinking that the camera should be great for travelling (landscape and people) and everyday purposes (portrait, food, products). I'm undecided because some, while being a great camera, has shorter battery life and/or has few compatible lens options (or has to use lens adapter). Canon cameras have lock in lens and I'm afraid it will be troublesome or inconvenient. As for A6000, do you think it will still be relevant in the next, at least, 5 years? Which camera would you recommend for me, or if you have any other option please let me know. Thank you so much!
That’s hard to say but it will be similar. Similar sensor size. What will you use it for? You will also be able to upgrade your lens in the future on the m6.
Tech Gear Talk I want to upgrade from my G5x. Used for general photography both work and personal. Kinda like the bridge cameras, small body, one lens. Should I wait for g5x Mark II upgrade?
that's going to be a great camera. It depends on what's making you want to upgrade from the G5X. There will always be a "next" camera so let's start with why you're upgrading.
Thanks Liam! I'm super glad you liked it and that the info helped out. Thank you also for the like and sub. The M6 is an awesome camera. It's pretty crazy what it can do (for such a small camera). If you choose to do this route, I'm confident you'll be happy. I have links in the description if you'd like to support my channel. Let me know if you have any questions at all. I also did a review of the G7 X Mark II, the SL2 and then a comparison of the 3 (in case you're interested in more info). But seriously, this camera give you so much. If you end up getting it, drop me a line about how it works out for you!
Hi Jim. Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. I added a couple of links for you to the blog post on my website. I use the second option with the MKE2 instead of the ME2 but you can probably save a few hundred bucks there ;) Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help anytime I can.
Thanks for watching. You know, there is a tradeoff there. Have you watched my video comparing this camera to the SL2 and G7 X MK II? th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html If you have it flip out, it makes a wider footprint. I prefer that, but I think their goal was to keep the smallest footprint possible for this camera. Other than that, what did you think about it?
Agreed, there is always a trade off and you have to compromise based on what your priorities are. Thank you again for watching. If you end up picking one up, I'd appreciate if you would support the channel (if possible). Also, would you mostly use it for vlogging?
Hi. Thanks for watching. I have not tried to do this, but the M6 does not appear on the list of supported cameras for Lightroom Classic CC and lightroom 6.
Tech Gear Talk Thanks for the reply. Not a deal breaker but always helpful to allow tethering. Of course, it's not a 5D or 6D so I realize that. Great option for vlogging.
It is a great option for vlogging and I also think it's perfect as a travel camera. It's just so much smaller than a full-frame sensor camera. I really didn't appreciate the difference until I started playing around with these smaller cameras. What do you shoot with and what type of photography do you do?
I am a Graphic Designer by trade but shoot a lot of my own portfolio work and some stuff for others. I have been resorting to an older Canon 30D (old) but it still works well for stills. I want something smaller and a bit compact. Been looking at a Panasonic Lumix G7 or G85 too.
Those are also 2 great options and would give you a smaller platform to work with. They both have a smaller sensors than the M6, so that's something you may want to consider. Let me know what decide. I'm always interested in the buying process.
Let me check. There is a mico usb but I believe it's only for playback, not for recording.
love this camera. great range of lenses and lightweight for travelling as a kit. would be great to see some samples images and as a contrast to other options in the price/feature-function range.
$300 man these things are going for 1k
excellent video, but like so many on youtube, there seems to be a bias towards shooting video! some of us just want to take photos!! ;-)
You're awesome Tech Gear Talk!!!
Ironically, two years later, I think things have shifted in the opposite direction! Now it’s tough to find solid camera reviews about video!
@@kieranarmstrongproductions4743 really? ;-)
@@TechGearTalkthanks, I’m more photo focused and decided to buy this older model since the prices have dropped on these little guys.
I'm super glad it was helpful Scott! Thank you for the kind words and for joining the community 🙏
You deserve more subs bro
Keep up the good work
Oh, wow, thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback. I would greatly appreciate you sharing any videos you like!
What did you think of the M6?
Tech Gear Talk m6 It's a good camera
But Canon 200d is better in my opinion
I agree, I did a review of it here: th-cam.com/video/WEQtH8hh8dM/w-d-xo.html and also a comparison with the M6 and G7Xmkii here: th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html
one of the best camera reviews I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Good stuff brother
Buying my first camera ever today for gym footage/vlogging. Thank you for this review it answered all my questions and gave me more info than i asked for in a very clear and informative manner! Keep it up !
you remind me of Ross Geller from F.R.I.E.N.D.S
Ha!!! I'll take that :)
Thank you for watching.
DAMN They must be related😏
Abrar Faiyaz Hes hot
I was thinking that!
Wow I’ve had this camera for 2 years and I clearly had no idea how to use it! This was so helpful thank you!!
So glad I could help. Enjoy your M6! Thanks for being part of the channel.
Best EOS M6 review yet (and I’ve seen a lot of them). ;-)
Oh wow Dean, I’m so glad you liked it. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave me feedback. What do you think of the M6?
Wowwww love to see how much your channel has grown! You’re awesome!
Oh wow - thank you so much Samantha!
this sold me, ive been looking at multiple different cameras with a flip-screen from the G7x to the Cybershot. Never done much with Canon but this sold me on it.
Awesome, glad it was helpful. One last feature I wanted to mention. If you need the ability to control the camera for video with an app on your phone, the M6 can't do that (see here th-cam.com/video/qK3lFZemX9I/w-d-xo.html)
The M50, which is more expensive, is a little better all around and has that feature: th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html I'm not suggesting that you need to spend more money, but I wanted you to be aware of this before you buy.
Let me know if yo have any questions.
You are seriously the best camera reviewer I’ve found. I’m just getting into photography but you’ve answered questions I didn’t even know I had. Thank you!
Wow, appreciate the feedback Trevor. If you have any questions, let me know.
You can use Canon's regular DSLR APS-C and full frame lenses with adapter for this camera. Not all the EF-M lenses are for low light or higher power telephoto.
That's correct. You can also use a speed booster with EF lenses.
Great review. I’ve used an M6 for Vlogging for around 6 months now and really love it.
Thank you Stefan! Do you use the external mic or the built in one?
I dig your style. Wondering what camera you used to film this video?
You deserve more than 1 million likes for this video! Well detailed!!!👌👍👍
You are too kind; I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment.
Thank you for the encouraging words and please let me know if you have any questions.
Tech Gear Talk Sure I do! Am having a serious problem choosing between this camera and sony a5100... Pls advice me!
Are you going to want to use an external microphone?
Tech Gear Talk it's not important to me for now.
Ok cool, and are you choosing between buying the A5100 or the M6? Or do you have the A5100 and are asking if it's worth upgrading to the M6?
I hate that no one uses the m6 in cinematic way. Im trying to get a good film look from the M6. Can you do some videos on the picture profiles? Im so tired of every video being about vlogging lol
Absolutely. Might also do a livestream so that people can ask questions if this video gets enough traction.
create, don't hate! solid gap in the media for some gold standard cinematic content.
very true
Thank Lyle!! Sorry for the late response. That's a ton of great info! Appreciate the view and the super valuable insight!
Love my M6, perfect for travel, walking and easy to carry in my motorcycle tank bag touring. Bought the adapter and can use all my EF lenses. For videos superb...especially mated with a Rode mic on a flash side mount.
Sounds like an awesome setup! I love how compact it is.
You are reviewing this camera like a pro ! Thumbs up ! Makes me want to buy it right now 🔥🔥
Thank you Andy!!!
I just saw your channel....way bigger than mine 😂
I'm really happy that you found this video helpful. I would appreciate you sharing it if possible 🙏. Thank you again!
yes! because of you I'm buy m6 asap.
Awesome Jhun. Let me know how it works out for you!
Great video! I learned so much. Do you think it's still worth it this 2021?
Glad I could help. There is also an M6 mark ii now
Thanks for the great review! I was planning to get the m10 but I've been hearing a lot of good things about m6, especially in this video. Now, I've changed my mind and I like m6 more. Thanks!
You are very welcome Camille. The M6 is a great camera and I'm so glad that the review was helpful in making a decision. What do you normally shoot?
I have this camera and it is amazing for sure
Thanks for the awesome review. I've had my eos m6 for three years and love it!
What an amazing tutorial! Thank you! I just purchased this camera! This video really helped!!!
Hi @TechGearTalk , I'm about to buy a used unit M6 as I'm about to pickup photography as a new hobby. Should I just do that or should I opt for either the cheaper M200 or newer M50 Mk ii? Thank you. Appreciate opinions / advices from community as well.
Thank you for all the information on this camera. I am very new to this camera. Your video is super helpful. Again thank you 🙏🏽 👍
I really like the size of the M6 and all the features.
That sounds like a super good deal, and like you said, you'll have 24fps when you want it!
This is a great review, I bought one straight after this video. Alas, it was lost and never arrived and I get my payment back. Just today I found out about canon Eos 50 newly released, can't wait for your review on it.
Super glad you liked it but sorry that it didn't arrive :(
The M50 looks great. I need a bunch of people to donate $1 each so I can pick it up as soon as it's released 😂
I'll make sure I have a review soon!
Learned a lot about my camera...thanks a lot!
Super happy it was helpful. You are very welcome. Thank you so much for watching! I’m just starting out 🙂
Thanks for the review. Wondering should I still go for it in Oct'2020 mainly for outdoor landscape photography ?
(I just got one and am still working out what it does)
Your video was very helpful. Thank you. imma sub up.
THIS VIDEO is the perfect example of how you do a review
Thank you so much Aretha - hope it was helpful!
Just bought this camera and this review helped me a lot! Thanks!
Congrats Alanna!
Very glad that the review was helpful, thank you for being part of the community.
@@TechGearTalk Hey is this camera also good for sit down videos for youtube?
Yes, it would work well. The fact that you a microphone input makes it even better. Here is a video for some good options: th-cam.com/video/r4pZQepv4r4/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps.
ordering the silver one this month! I have watched many reviews and yours was BY FAR the most helpful. THANK YOU!!!

What do you plan on using the M6 for?
I found some Canon & mirrorless facebook groups and people have been great help in those groups! I want this camera for travel, Vlogs, and honestly just growth. I have a NIKON SLR but I feel like I can grow with this one more and learn about lenses and such.
I think that mirrorless is the way of the future. The gap is shrinking and the convenience and portability just can't be beat!
So excited for you. And by the way, the Silver one is FOR SURE the way to go. I saw it too late :(
yes, I have the silver one in a bundle saved in my amazon cart. Just waiting in that tax return. lol
Awesome!! Once you get it, stop by and let me know how it's working out for you.
Great video. It explained a lot of features, pros, and cons. I'm looking at getting this camera so I appreciate the info! Take care.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for being part of the channel!
Gonna buy one for shooting videos in events as a job. Great review man. You earned a sub. :)
Thank you so much for the compliment and the sub. Thank you for supporting the channel!
No problem man. Your reviews are actually pretty helpful for camera buyers out there.
That's exactly what I'm going after. Helping potential buyers make a decision. I'm glad to see it's working. Again, thank you for the feedback!
Needed this!! Thank you so much. What mic are you using shown at 12:50 ?
Hi Callie - hope the video was helpful.
I updated the description to include the mount/tripod/microphone that I used to make it easy. (It's a Rode VideoMicro).
Here is another video I did comparing a few other microphones that would work (including that one) at different price points.
Ran across your TH-cam channel looking for this camera. Awesome Vlog very informative. Thank you so much for sharing. Thanks David
You are very welcome David! Glad you found my channel and that the video was informative!
HI what should my video and photo settings be? I would love to do slow motion videos too! thanks
See if this video helps: th-cam.com/video/RDs-Zzb0pmE/w-d-xo.html
I want to shoot macro photography with this. What is a good lens for that and what is Compatible with this camera for macro photography.?
Are you planning on using an adapter or just ef-m lenses.
@@TechGearTalk yea see...I dont know anything about cameras so that's the problem ahhhaa
ah, ef-m lenses only have one macro right now: 28mm f/3.5.
I like those options. Also look at the SL2/200d or M50 because you can control them remotely with the Canon Camera Connect app.
@@TechGearTalk Thank you, I looked into those. But I'm not really looking for cameras like that. I'm looking for something similar to the canon g7x but more budget friendly.
Of those two, I used the M6 and got good results with it. I did miss the remote control though.
Great video. What do you think would be a comparable camera. I am looking at this and the Sony a5100. Any thing else similar?
Thank you Greg. What are you going to use it for?
just general video and car related stuff. DIY car repairs
Thanks for the comment Peter. What will you be using the camera for?
I love your videos they are so informative and is helpful. Thank you!!
Oh wow, thank you so much!! I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a comment. What did you think of the M6?
I am having a hard time deciding between the M6 or G7X M2 for vlogging. Which would you recommend is the better option?
The G7XM2 is so small and light. You can pretty much take it with you anywhere and never even think about it. This is especially true because the lens retracts. The M6 is bigger and heavier for sure (even though it's relatively small). It will allow you to use an external microphone if you want (th-cam.com/video/hE84RCziiv8/w-d-xo.html). That will give you better audio, especially in challenging conditions, but will make the setup even bigger.
This is another excellent option to replace the M6 th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html (it has one very important feature both other cameras are missing - remote control)
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.
Which is having better environment protection? I mean dust protection? M6 or g7x Mark 2
How is the zooming in m6? Is it manual?
I think you have just helped me buy a camera! Doing TH-cam videos and also work videos for training.. so if this doesn’t have 4K that’s ok? Don’t nesscarily need it?
I don’t think 4K is needed. Also look at the m50
Great video and your monitor setup and wallpaper is dope
Thanks Justin, I appreciate the view and you taking the time to leave feedback. Check out some of my newer videos, I changed the wallpaper.
Great video and detail to the point.thank you .now i know i cud most definitely head to buy the canon m6.
Great video ! I’m just wondering what kind of settings you have applied for both video & taking pictures it would help a lot , thank you .
Thanks! For everything you see in this video, I use the Standard picture profile.
For video, make sure your shutterspeed is (about) 2x your frames per second. Meaning, if you are shooting at 30fps (or 29.97) your shutterspeed needs to be at 60.
If you need an explanation of exposure, watch this video: th-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/w-d-xo.html
let me know in the comments in you have any questions.
Thank you Tech gear talk for your reply
You are very welcome!
This is what I needed. I click on your B & H link and purchased the M6. Only 2 years after you posted this video lol. Thanks, my man! #EvergreenContent
Glad the video was still helpful Vincent! Appreciate you supporting the channel 🙏
Hey, thanks for the review, but there isn't a 60p video mode on my M6?
how to get it to 60p video mode?
Thank you.
I just upgraded from the eo-m to the m6. With the release fo the m50 the used price is very reasonable.
Nice upgrade! How do you like it so far? You using it for photography or video?
@@TechGearTalk the package is en route
👍🏻
Hey I just got this camera. What is the platform your camera is on? Not the gorilla pod, but the thing you mounted your mic on?
Tech Gear Talk thank you I really appreciate the help!
You are very welcome. Take your time and ask away when ready.
PLEASE HELP!!! I have a Canon EOS M6, but I am going on a safari in a couple weeks and would like to use the same camera base with an adaptor and zoom lens. What would you recommend to get sharp and good photos at a distance?
Best review that i've watched for m6 thanks for enlighting me tech gear talk!:)
I like your review. Very informative and good for comparisons. It helped me a lot when choosing what camera to buy. Keep it up! :)
That's wonderful to hear Sophia. I'm glad I was able to help.
It's at 0:20
The English subtitle says
'and they're gonna be looking into ~'
but I can't hear you that way.
It would be great if you could tell me what you exactly say there.
Thank you!
Glad you like the videos. I said "looking into 'smaller dslrs and smaller mirrorless cameras'" Hope that helps.
Tech Gear Talk
Thank you so much for your reply.
Actually, what I asked you was just before ‘looking into’
The subtitle says
‘And they’re gonna be ~’
But I don’t hear that way.
I just wonder if it was lack of my listening skills or the subtitle was not correct.
Thank you!
Does the M6 have an HDMI out? Are you able to connect an external monitor? Thank you
Heyyyy, so if this camera is going spare... could I have it maybe?
This is a mirrorless camera, so you're going to get rid of the noise that the mirror makes when it moves out of the way (watch this video to learn more: th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html )
As far as low light, it's going to do fine because I'm assuming the performer is actually well lighted.
Make sure you have an understanding of shutterspeed/aperture/iso (here is some help: th-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/w-d-xo.html ; you'll need this for ANY camera)
After you watch those two videos, let me know if you have any questions in the comment section. I'm here to help.
Hi,
Thanks for the video:) I noticed that the lens release button is kind of loose on my m6, doesn’t take much pressure to press on it.
Tech Gear Talk thank you for the reply. I don't see myself buying much lenses. This is more for my kids and traveling.
The m6 is just so much smaller, I think it may be a better fit.
Tech Gear Talk thank you so much
You are very welcome. I am just starting out so I'm happy that these videos are being helpful.
Excellent review and so I have just ordered this camera!
Thank you so much.
Congrats!! Let me know how it works out for you when you get it.
Thanks. My M6 will come standard with 15-45 lens. I’m thinking of also getting an 18-150 or 55-200 telephoto lens. Which would you think is the more useful?
There is less overlap with the 55-200 and it will give you more zoom.
Many thanks for your comments. Also, the 55-200 is quite a bit cheaper for some reason.
Tech Gear Talk I’ll likely use the rode videomicro or use a rig and mount the videomic pro.
Sounds good. Those will both work. VMP is super nice.
Hi guy. Should I upgrade to latest version. Is 4K really necessary? I just wana vlog and start a TH-cam channel. Thanks
I like that you can use the app with the MKII. You also have 4K (if you want) and better overall auto focus and image quality
You're very welcome, glad I could be of help.
What about bulb mode? Can you go beyond two minutes to unlimited? Or is it just like the M5?
In timelapse, what is the max photos?
There is a bulb mode for longer exposure.
As far as the length, if Scene 1, it's 1 hours, Scenes 2/3 2 hours, Custom, you can go up to 7 hours.
You the best reviewer ,, I love your channel,, I never supported any channel via patron but I think you deserve it .. thanks for all the awesome uploads
Thank you so much for the kind words! I would greatly appreciate your support 👍
Really struggling choosing between the M6 and the Canon G7 Mark ii... if price wasn't a factor, which would you recommend? I want to use it for sit-down videos and taking photos for my blog (possibly vlogs in future).
Hi Anna. Thanks for watching. I would get the M50 over both of those. th-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/w-d-xo.html
Take a look at that video and let me know if you have any questions. Better quality, faster processor, external mic input and remote control.
@@TechGearTalk Thank you so much! Will look into it.
You're very welcome, I hope it's helpful.
Decided on taking your advice and getting the M50. Just one last question... should I take the 11-22mm lens or the 15-45mm lens? Thank you for your replies, I appreciate it so much!
Anna, you'll be happy with it. What will you be shooting?
Great review!! Question.. how would u compare this M6 with a Sony A6300 ? Thnx!
Thanks Andre, appreciate the feedback.
They are pretty similar. What do you plan on using it for?
I use it for a mix of landscape... macro... godkids and sometime some night shooting... stars etc...
Ok, so only photography? no video ever?
Tech Gear Talk barely :-) less than 10%... so full HD is sufficient :-)
Thoughts?
Nice review, very informative, you gave the full information..now i will start vlogging using this..thanks
Thank you brother! Glad the video was helpful!
Tech Gear Talk practice your Norwegian and I will try to make a English speaking video 👌🏻
I lose that every time because your English is already SO MUCH better!
Thanks for that review! I am considering buying one and I can't seem to find the max size of SD card that it will take. If you have that information, that would be great! Thanks!
I don't know that there is one. I don't see why you couldn't use a 1 or 2TB card if you wanted. Why would you want such a large card?
@@TechGearTalk I want to do a trip and don't want to worry about my card filling up mid scene. Thanks!
How do you connect the camera to your phone? Everything was great, just need to know how you were able to use your phone.
I was using the Canon Camera Connect app. It does not work for video though - so frustrating
Thank you
You're very welcome!
nice review! i just bought the sl2,so i wont buy a new one for now but i like to watch other products.. just suscribed to your channel, keep the good job!
I would add the SL2 and SL3 into the mix.
What do you mean by "lock in lens" for Canon?
Thanks for the reply!
I will research about SL2 and SL3.
About the "lock in lens", I think they call in zoom lock switch.
Oh, I just don't use that for the EF-M lenses. You don't need to ever lock it.
Is the m-6 with the 15-45mm kit lens will have the same photo quality as the Canon g1x mark III?
That’s hard to say but it will be similar. Similar sensor size. What will you use it for? You will also be able to upgrade your lens in the future on the m6.
Tech Gear Talk I want to upgrade from my G5x. Used for general photography both work and personal. Kinda like the bridge cameras, small body, one lens. Should I wait for g5x Mark II upgrade?
that's going to be a great camera. It depends on what's making you want to upgrade from the G5X. There will always be a "next" camera so let's start with why you're upgrading.
Awesome video man! Currently using the Canon G7X Mark 1 for my videos and looking to upgrade to this! Thanks for the info, liked and subscribed!
Thanks for the great review! Can you share a link for the wireless lav mic you talked about?
Hi Jim. Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. I added a couple of links for you to the blog post on my website. I use the second option with the MKE2 instead of the ME2 but you can probably save a few hundred bucks there ;)
Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help anytime I can.
eos m6 have body stabilization and image stabilization ?
There is digital image stabilization but not sensor image stabilization
Tech Gear Talk ok thanks for your info.. i confuse to choose both eos m6 and g7x for my vloging... ane idea for you?
I would go with the M6 because it has an external mic input so you can use a microphone (either now or later) and get better audio.
Great review thank you! Why didn’t they have the screen flip to the side so you can mount an external mic on hot shoe?
Thanks for watching. You know, there is a tradeoff there. Have you watched my video comparing this camera to the SL2 and G7 X MK II? th-cam.com/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/w-d-xo.html
If you have it flip out, it makes a wider footprint. I prefer that, but I think their goal was to keep the smallest footprint possible for this camera. Other than that, what did you think about it?
indeed there is a trade off as always with design. I think it looks great, but have not bought one....yet! maybe soon!
Agreed, there is always a trade off and you have to compromise based on what your priorities are. Thank you again for watching. If you end up picking one up, I'd appreciate if you would support the channel (if possible).
Also, would you mostly use it for vlogging?
will do. Yes mainly vlogging, but may get into my photography after many years of being in the wilderness.
Sounds great. What are you currently using for vlogging?
Can this camera be set up for tethered shooting to Adobe Lightroom? Thanks for a great review. Love the level of detail in your review.
Thank you for this review! It was a toss between a couple of M-series cameras and I think I'm going to go with the M6.
You’re very welcome Niki, glad it was useful. What other M-series cameras were you looking at? Just curious.
@@TechGearTalk I was looking at the M100 but I realise it does not compare. I'd rather buy it nice than buy it twice. 😉
Awesome! Would love to know what you think once you get it!!
