- Here`s my Rc Jet Boat with a 3D printed Jet Propulsion or also called jet drive. All parts are designed and constructed by my self, to get small and compact, rc controlled mini jet boat.

Instead of a propeller behind the boat, the jet system works just like a jet ski, by a propeller integrated inside the boat moving the water in and out pushing it forward. Not only the hull of the boat is 3D printed, but the propeller, motor mount, servo holder, battery tray and even the servo coupler! The brushless motor was from a RC drone and with a 2 cell 18650 LiPo it was too powerful.
The hull of the boat is also constructed and printed by my self. The impulse jet, which I got printed mostly in pla, is allready tested a lot and runs really awesome. On a other version of the boat I am running the same jet but with all parts printed in ABS. Even the printed ABS or PLA propeller holds up to the brushless outrunner on 2S just fine! The Jet has an integrated watercooling system for the motor, but I have not tested yet if it really needs to be watercooled as the motor that I use has way more torque than the little 20mm jet needs. Water gets inside, what material did you make the lid gasket with?
Cool! Is the propeller also 3d printed? I did some experiments with diy carbon fibre propellers (for Quadrocopter) Made from 3d printed moulds.. there's any advantage in using a carbon propeller in this case?
Yes the propeller is also 3d printed. But the propeller is so small PLA as material is stiff and stable enough. You wouldn't get an advantage by using a propeller made of 3d printed carbon material.
Maybe if you build a much larger jet drive with a turbine >50mm.

Maybe I wrote in a bad way...I was meaning 3d printing a Mould for then make a carbon fibre propeller (super light and strong), not 3d printed propeller with carbon fibre filament . Online there are a lot of resources about it, you can also check my last video if you want, it's shows part of the process.. eitherway great job keep it up!
Ah ok, now I understand. Yeah that's a option, if you want to build multiple boats. Next time I'm going to build different propellers.
