  • In this video we test out a few different motors in our 3D Printed RC Jetboat designed by Bashtech and settle on a winner for our current uses. We take the winning combination out to the lake for a good session over the low Shuswap water.

      yup the little one blew pretty quick. I'd recommend a standard 540 motor but you definitely need water cooling for this project to be long term successful.

    Definitely add water cooling. I’ve have been working on mine for a while now and I added water cooling which works great and I added foam in the front end to keep it from nose diving in the front but haven’t tried it yet. Water cooling jacket for the engine and the Esc was easy to install which I drilled a hole in the jet right after the prop and installed a copper tube with a slight angle cut in the tube so it pushes the water through the tube into the boat. I ordered some fittings but you can 3d print something for the tubing to connect to in the back of the hull and one for the exit which I like having it pointing up so pushes the water in the air so you can tell how well it’s working.

      Thanks, water cooling is definitely next on the list for this boat but figuring out the best way to do that on a jetboat is tough and I've seen a lot of pics of people putting the intake in a lot of different locations so thanks for giving me the feedback on what works best for you. I'm not 100% sure I'm properly picturing how your copper tube is installed so if you have a pic or something of it that would be helpful.

      @@rcprinter I just drilled a small hole down into the first peace of 3d printed jet drive and stuffed a copper tube with a 45 degree angle. Pushed it down until the 45 is just sticking down a little bit so the water flow hits it. If you don’t have copper tube I would use a peace hollow antenna works great. Plus if you use a antenna there’s a bunch of different sizes you can try plus have plenty left over for another project. Anyway water cooled is the way to go even if you rap the motor with copper tubing is better than nothing. Also you can use the antenna to connect peace’s of tubing together or since it’s tapered you can stuff it through the back hull and super glue it in place to connect the intake and exit water cooling lines to. I hope that helps you out. Good luck and I hope to see a new video soon.

      I was looking for this comment. Was just about to write a whole essay on how important water cooling is on a jet boat since it does not get any other types of cooling.

    @RCPrinter Thanks for testing and sharing. I am about to build the boat for this summer and I was wondering, what KV 3550 or 3560 motor you would recommend for 2S and 3S. I will try to fit water-cooling too.

      Hey water cooling is pretty important, I need to add that soon. I'd probably try 3000-ish next but I don't really know for sure. I think the 3650 I tested here was ~4300 which I think was too high.

    Interesting with the motor, heat is an issue. It you look at most brushless set-up in boats they are water cooled.

    Works way better than mine. I have water cooling for ESC and motor but it would still kill itself if I drive with more than half throttle for too long. Need to find more sufficient motor at some point.

      what kind of esc and motor you using?

    • @1sqeeze1
      @1sqeeze1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it probably is not the motor, i had similar problems with my boat until i noticed that i messed up while filing the driveshaft so it could move in rear bushing. you shuld check all drive components if they are running freely and if your coupler is perfectly center since that might intoduce a high imbalance at greater rpm

    Should i use a low kv or a high kv motor?

  • @MrDINODINO74
    @MrDINODINO74 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the boats, you have to use water cooling on a speed controller and motor because the investment is capsulete, and brushless motors do not have ventilation

    • @MrDINODINO74
      @MrDINODINO74 ปีที่แล้ว

      ... and to avoid cavity, you have to install one the half from the grid and another intake perpendicular.
