As a student, I say just look up the censored version and play it and maybe do like a video review, so I can ignore the video and play Subway Surfers when the teacher isn't looking
5:32 The dead body at the Pike Amusement Park was the direct inspiration for Skeletor, believe it or not. Mark Taylor visited the place when he was like 9, was scared by the corpse dropping from the ceiling on a rope, and turned that experience into a children's toy.
i saw a docuseries about toys of the 80's and the episode on heman was a real blast, because a lot of the guys responsible for creating the franchise were really winging it lol. anyways, it did go into detail about the skeletor creation origins, and the guy saw in the news years later about it being an actual corpse and he was like "I FUCKIN KNEW IT"
5:55 it did happen! The original pirates of the Caribbean ride at disneyland used real skeleton’s because they were cheaper than imitations at the time. Now they’re all fake skeletons except for one skull and crossbones.
0:23 Not necessarily. When Sam made his Fidel Castro video, Fidel was still alive, which also means that there's a possibility that he actually saw it.
The first story I actually saw it on HBO (back when there was only 1 HBO). It was a random documentary and they just had one black and white picture of the dead guy. I only remembered the last part: 'used as a prop until it broke and bones were exposed'
Did the documentary explain how we went from "Nobody even knew this was a guy" to "We know exactly who this was as well as their life story"? The fact that they were able to positively identify some unknown corpse which had been mutilated and just sort of laying around for over 60 years AND track down information on from when they were alive is honestly the most unbelievable part of the whole story.
@Teksura This was decades ago, but I think I would remember the 'he blew up a train' part, so I don't think they mentioned anything before his afterlife as a wax figure, before the haunted house. They did figure out how old he was so of course they labeled him a cowboy in that doc.
Best ways to integrate videos like these is via following the subject or put it on for free time, try to make the world a lot bigger when teaching during each time
Weekend at Bernie's is one of those movies that is so cheesy it is good imo. It's a movie that you would be embarrassed to watch with someone else, but good to watch by yourself. Also funnily enough it was on AMC the day Mr. Terry uploaded this.
Class lecture/discussion could be the sociological phenomenon of using human corpses for entertainment and keeping law and order by way of making the corpse an example of the heavy hand of the law. Like, why have humans preeeeetty much throughout all continents and history of existence enjoyed watching torture, execution, and games where there must be death as a sign of defeat.
There's an episode of ghost adventures where they visit the house that was the mortuary where Elmer was mummified. The current owner has an odd obsession with him...like she said she is going to be buried adjacent to him when she passes. Even the guys on the show were suspecting her of doing some weird shit, like dark rituals and what not, to stir up ghosts
Mr. Terry should really rewatch Weekend at Bernie’s. He’s absolutely not their uncle. It’s very funny, and Bernie was a somewhat bad man, which leads to hilarious hijinks and confusing serious criminals
There is channel called voices of the past. And i don’t think you have reacted to them but it is a very intresting and awsome so any video by the would be a great watch
Salm'onella or however you spell it is such a great show, I wished my schooling made more use of people who could provide some education in a more positive way besides shoving us infront of a powerpoint and telling you to write it down and memorise it
Mr. Terry... Omg... I taught robotics and science. I just found your channel today. I feel like our teaching styles are probably pretty similar. We both have a sense of humor and understanding with young people. Can we please be friends...
Mr. Terry, what do you know of medieval times? Like from Charlemagne to the Ottoman Empire using gunpowder? Honestly curious if you've got some insight or would react to some things around then. If you have already can you, or anyone for that matter tell me what to look up? It's my favorite period in history, behind the Roman rise, to eventual split. P.S. Love your videos man, keep them coming, and keep teaching, even if some of the kids were like me. I promise, that one kid who doesn't seem to listen or care probably loves you as a teacher, speaking from experience.
I suppose for the defense of Elmer's case; waaaaaay back then, if you did really bad things you weren't considered a person and you deserved whatever happened to you and your body.
@MrTerry my world history teacher would open every unit with a multiple choice test (ungraded) on weird facts about the civilisation we were about to cover.
I think you'd enjoy the Story of Western Philosophy videos by Thus Spoke Haven. They have a similar style to Sam, but focus on ancient Greek philosophers and their weird shenanigans.
Dynamite was invented in 1867 by the swedish chemist and engineer Alfred nobel. Dynamite is made of nitroglycerin, sorbents and stabilizers. It's much safer than what they had before.
@@chosenArchitec yeah the nobel prize is named after Alfred nobel. Before dynamite they had just nitroglycerin by itself and nitroglycerin by itself is very unstable and dangerous and can explode at random.
I know for a fact that dracula and Catamila were bouth baced on the vampire panic that happened becouse peapole did not know whut tiburculoosis was at the time I subjest you wach ask a mortician's video on the topic it's really intertaining.
hey mr terry not sure if you will see this but your recent sponsor established titles turned out to be a huge scam im not gonna link it but theres a very in depth video on it i hope you see this
An underrated channel is I Am. I Am is another channel from The Infographics Show about first person point of views of historical and specific figures. I think you’d love to react to the channel’s videos. I won’t stop promoting it until you react to at least one video because I believe you’ll love it.
How do I integrate these stories into my teaching? 🤔
Just play it and se how they react Just filter the Swiss miss
When talking about the popes and their influence bring up how their blood has been stolen
As a student, I say just look up the censored version and play it and maybe do like a video review, so I can ignore the video and play Subway Surfers when the teacher isn't looking
The Luigi Galvani one can be used if you explain something about the advances and discoveries in science
Just start the class with a serious face, say nothing, pull up one of Sam’s videos and hit play with no context 😂

Ironic that nobody wanted McCurdy while covered in wax because he looked unrealistic.

love how you have evolved during your time on the platform, both in editing, how you react and the quality. so awesome to see!
Always love seeing your reactions to Sam 🤣

Kind of like how Kim Jong-Il might've watched Team America.
We could only hope

I thought Sam posted a new video. But this is just as good😊. Those dead bodies sure got up to some crazy hijinks.

About mccurdy you should make it comedic when you integrate him into your lesson or the students might be scarred
Definitely watch part 2
There's a second part to this video and it is EFFED up.

I just looked up Elmer McCurdy on Wikipedia, to see how much of the page predates Sam's video. Turns out, he's from my home state!
You could try integrating McCurdy into a class on the realities of life in the Wild West?
I’m honestly amazed they didn’t bring up Floyd Collins
