just a heads up, that swordless epona glitch was also in N64. I know this because I had the same problem in randomizers, but they eventually patched the glitch for the rando
As a kid I wasnt very attentive. I understood the whole time loop thing, but fully assumed you had to do everything in a single loop. I would intentionally not complete anything but leave them _almost_ complete to try and do them all at once. I eventually realised once I actually made progress that saved
🤓☝️ Um, actually you just need to enter the boss arena (and maybe trigger the bossfight) to activate the warp portal. If you then die or teleport back to the beginning of the dungeon, the portal will 100% activate.
Fun fact you'll hate. The sword is not needed for the monkey to teach the song. (I think). When I did 100% on both n64 and recently the 3ds i just pulled out the pipes to play the song he teaches. Never in my time playing any version did i even know he says anything about a sword. That's probably cause I had the sword on me and didn't lose it but idk
@speedymatt1236 I saw that video before I saw this one. I didn't think it'd ever happen but I'm glad to see it happen. I did remember haveing the blue dog win for me but only after picking some other dog. But that was a randomizer so idk if It can happen in a normal game
@@James-bm7ce from what i remember there are only 2 seeds the brute force guy found where blue dog wins, ones the min max, and the others with a frame perfect glitch where it intersects the finish early
3d was my first time playing Majora's Mask almost a decade ago, and I could NOT figure out how to beat the game period, let alone in one cycle. Mad props
I didn't think it was possible in this version. Couldn't be happier to have been proven wrong. Also, nice to see you finally saving the monkey. At least he didn't have to suffer this time. And no, I don't think you forgot anything. I've 100% both versions of MM before, and I REALLY don't see anything you could've possibly forgotten in this challenge.
22:25 If you want the Red Twinmold to leave you alone, you can shoot its jewelled tail to make it retreat into the sand for a moment, giving you an opening to focus on the Blue Twinmold.
I love doing the 3day challenge glitchless in the original, have even combined that with the 3 cycle completion challenge (3 cycles is the minimum number of cycles, excluding the Deku Scrub cycle, to 100% the game because of the 2 cycles needed to do the Kafei Anju quest and because Kafei won't leave the priority mail if Sakon doesn't successfully steal from the old lady.) It makes for an insane first day to do as much as you have to to cram everything you need into the first cycle, but it was so fulfilling to do
I mean, technically, you can stop Sakon from robbing the old lady for the three day cycle, you just won't get the Bomber's Notebook credit for it (which sucks). But you'll get the blast mask, and if you grind up rupees and deposit 200, you'll get the adult wallet and be able to buy the bigger bomb bag.
Great work with the video, watched the full 25 minutes in one sitting, which I rarely do. Very entertaining and I guess the algorithm hit you just right =) Keep it up! Maybe something like can you beat Zelda X/Y without sword / shield or some challenge runs are fun aswell. But I am saying that before checking out your other videos :D
Thank you so much! I'm currently absolutely suffering through a different challenge run and I'm thinking I might need to do something a little lighter afterwards, like a swordless challenge as you suggest... because I feel like I only ever take the insanely stressful ideas 🥲
It would have been cool if they coded the 3D game so that if you completed all of the “Happy Ending” tasks in one cycle, like making it spring, restoring the 4 fairies, getting the babies hatched, etc, that it would trigger an “Ultimate Good Ending” credits scene for the game.

I was doing a similar run last year without glitches, but while also obtaining all 20 masks in the least amount of cycles possible. I actually sat down and routed the whole thing if anyone's interested. Great video!
Why couldn't Majora's Mask 3D be a modernized remake of the original, like Ocarina of Time 3D was? There are a few appreciated changes, like the kids in Clock Town telling you about people who need help, and the song that fast forwards time letting you pick the exact hour you want instead of just going from day to night or night to day. But most of the changes just make it straight up worse. Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda, and I think I'd rather play the N64 version than the 3DS remake.
I remember eagerly awaiting the launch date and starting a 72 hour timer for myself at home as soon as I got it. I had the gold 3DS and everything. BUT I also had work and school, therefore I failed 😂

So wait, I just realized... In OOT Link learns the song of storms from the windmill guy, and then teaches it to the windmill guy. But here he learns it in Termina. So...perhaps THAT'S how that loop got created? It's originally from Termina as a child, he teaches it to the windmill guy, learns it from the windmill guy, and teaches it again?

Link went to Termina through the Lost Woods as a direct result *of* the loop, that being his completed adventure. It's effectively creating a new logic loop to "fix" the old logic loop.
Yeah, he tried learning it without the sword, the on screen text said he tried just deku pipes and that didn't trigger correctly, these games do act kind of weird when you don't have a sword
Am I the only one or is this a shared sentiment, I hate the Eyeballification of zelda bosses like they were uniqu before and had some fun aspect of where is the weak point or even god forbid you just hit the enemy to do damage and just make it easy simple and fun but no now every time a boss shows up my first thaugh is whens the eyeball come out...
it seems getting zora mask early make's all dungeons easy speed run since you skip needing arrows for a lot of enemy types and he jumps half the dungeon puzzles for swamp and snow head by him self also thanks for showing how to skip stuff on 3ds version was going to replay it for the last 3 days of this year and you helped me learn new tech i know n64 stuff 3ds ruined the game for me but has some of the same but no hover jumps
This is Majora's Mask 3D, which is very different from Majora's Mask 64! As far as my own research goes, I might be the first one to make a video for the 3DS version? Though I'd be happy to be corrected on that.
It would be interesting to see a run where someone does the most amount of things possible in one 3 day sequence after you have unlocked everything from previous runs if you know what I'm saying. Like after getting all the masks and whatnot then trying to do as many side quests as possible in one 3 day sequence.
I have routed a run for the Restoration Project (where they restored the Inverted Song of Time) of the 3DS version where you collect all the masks and beat the game in the least amount of cycles possible without any glitches or exploits. I don't have it recorded but I have the routing written down.
That shortcut in the pirate fortress is there in the Japanese version on N64 I think, I could be wrong though and misheard someone saying the remake or something idk Very true about the hook shot thing though, in randomizers hookshot anywhere is way OP but super fun
Can’t believe that still to this day, no one acknowledges Majora’s Mask as the spiritual successor to Groundhog Day. I mean, think about it: Bill Murray has the same dream every night and he learns how to control it.
There is another setup to do it, but I was pressed for time and gave myself a no-save rule, so I went with my more practiced method. That being said, i think it's not more of a glitch than getting into snowhead (which is similarly "out of bounds") or abusing a "probably illegally actionable frame" of ice melting to get powder keg early imo still, probably should've practiced the other setup to reverse inverted stone tower temple more :'D
16:50 I'm pretty sure you can skip this fight with the captain's hat. Not sure if you cover it later or if it's slower, but it is something you can do.
Those are some pretty big exploits, personally I’d call the frame perfect climb into a normally impossible action a glitch but it treads the line since it’s only an impossible action not an invalid one.
This is purely pedantic, but I would consider things like bomb movements to be glitches. Exploits are more abusing unintended features of the game. For instance, if you could keep your money on a time recycle, and borrow money from the bank. You could borrow money, restart time, and have money with no debt. Purely as a hypothetical.
22:32 bruhhhhhh they reused this boss in tears of the kingdom for the wind temple. that’s actually kinda lazy of them holy sh. i didn’t know that because i haven’t made i that far in this one but dang
@@brandobatel I'd be very happy to see it! Biggest problem isn't just the decreased time but I find the amount of increased time investment from slowed down deku skips to be devastating. The later stuff definitely isn't *as* necessary though.
@EonAegis yeah day 1 morning is the biggest issue by a mile. I have a great discord where ive accumulated a ton of possible tricks (and not iffy glitches) where its barely possible to get to epona before sundown day 1. But the room for error is insane. Im an n64 mm ytuber and its wild how different the versions are
Funny thing that Pirate fortress shortcut was in the Japanese version of N64 but got removed for the English version of N64 so they decided removing it was stupid and put it back for the 3DS. One of the only good changes the 3DS version has honestly as I definitely prefer how the N64 handles the boss fights and almost everything else as it was just straight up better especially the Zora swimming. Like i get wanting to put Shiro near the fortress, but inside it where you already probably needed the mask in the first place with no magic refills? No that's stupid he should have been at the outside of the fortress as his placement makes no sense Like again there are some good QoL changes they did as other than that shortcut they made it where you can pick specific enough times of day to change it to that way you removed a lot of waiting around which is a great change, but all the good changes are overshadowed by the mind boggling bad changes
I personally hated the Twin Mold fight in the 3DS. for some reason I just couldn't get the red one to fall down no matter how many times I hit him. my first 'kill' of the red twin mold took me 18 in game hours to do, with inverted time. I hate the 3DS one so much...
Man… I don’t remember the 3DS version sucking so much of the fun out of the original game. I wonder if there’s a mod out there to… correct the changes made to it to make it more like the original? Cause I love the graphics of the update so much
Hd definitely did odolwa dirty. He was never necessarily hard but you slowly got some damage and there were many ways to fight him. I knew how to "cheese" each boss but him cuz it was just unknown
I never actually noticed that the Gerudo Fortress doesn't have any magic refills in it lmao. Typically you have so much magic to work with by then (double magic meter,) but in this run you don't have that luxury.
Typically it never required magic to get through but for some reason they decided "Why not?" for 3DS as fast Zora Swimming makes no sense to require magic
@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena yes, but ultimately, the change doesn't amount to much in terms of a normal run where you have the magic upgrade. It's questionable that they didn't just add a swim speed toggle button (since the slower swimming option was very nice for indoor swimming areas where the fast speed was clunky,) especially considering how much better the 3DS release is about quality of life and streamlining shit to make it better to play. But it really isn't a massive problem either. I don't think mandating it require magic is a *good* change, just one that's a fairly minor annoyance that MM3D detractors have exaggerated the problems of to the point of parody.
@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena Yes, and it's more annoying if you missed it. However, considering how easy woodfall's stray fairies are to obtain, it's not an uncommon occurrence for most players to have the upgraded magic meter. It definitely becomes more annoying if you don't have it for the egg hunt, but it's still far from some game ruining fault either. This is why it sticks out that the 3DS release made magic a requirement to swim fast because it's very anti-quality of life. It sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the much better quality of life everywhere else.
8:00 could you have jumped from the ladder enterance top and roll jump unto the box left of you then zora blade cut him?? Just curious. ( also I paused so we shall see what you do)
Not without glitches is my immediate thought, but let's watch and see where you're going with this. Edit: good to see I wasn't disappointed. While you call going Zora's Domain an "exploit", I call that a glitch, since it's very clear that they did not intend for you to skip such a large part of the game.
It's weird how you say that Majora's Mask 3D has a faster timer even with the new ISoT, because I always felt like it was far more generous. I never had a single failed cycle in the 3DS version, meanwhile the N64 version I had to reload countless times for the Lovers Mask alone
I wonder if anyones made a mod where you can choose between different timescales, like x6 or x9 more time, or add a variation to the song of time, allowing you to go back one day instead of resetting back to day 1.
In Randomizer, you can adjust the timescale up to X10 for Randomizer I believe? Though that's 64 :) Going back in time is possible using the debug menu's map select, but it can get messy 😅
I’m curious to see what a route would look like on the Project Restoration version of MM3D, as it keeps the 1/3 speed of the N64, but some glitches are still patched
@@Sprawk on restoration, you can use both this route or the route I used on the Nintendo 64 version, since the only thing that made that route impossible on 3DS was time :)

it seems getting zora mask early make's all dungeons easy speed run since you skip needing arrows for a lot of enemy types and he jumps half the dungeon puzzles for swamp and snow head by him self also thanks for showing how to skip stuff on 3ds version was going to replay it for the last 3 days of this year and you helped me learn new tech i know n64 stuff 3ds ruined the game for me but has some of the same but no hover jumps
For a moment, I thought Link had this epic beard in the thumbnail! But nope, he's just holding up a coin or a mask.
It's the Majora's Mask clock!
but now I want to give him an epic beard.
@@EonAegis *In Palpatine's voice* Do it!
Changed all major bosses.
Final boss though? Naw.
I know smiffic did this already but its cool to see another person attempt this!
He only did the N64 version
This is Majora's Mask 3D, which is very different from Majora's Mask 64! As far as my own research goes, I might be the first one to make a video for the 3DS version? Though I'd be happy to be corrected on that.
@@EonAegis oh yeah, you right you right
You just earned a sub for using Dragalia music in your outro
Hey, first time ive seen you and i got to say that i love your challenges!!
Remember to securely insert your sword inside your horse before you mount it.
i love the 3ds version of majora's mask
Have a happy new year EonAegis
It would be interesting to see a run where someone does the most amount of things possible in one 3 day sequence after you have unlocked everything from previous runs if you know what I'm saying. Like after getting all the masks and whatnot then trying to do as many side quests as possible in one 3 day sequence.
I have routed a run for the Restoration Project (where they restored the Inverted Song of Time) of the 3DS version where you collect all the masks and beat the game in the least amount of cycles possible without any glitches or exploits. I don't have it recorded but I have the routing written down.
That shortcut in the pirate fortress is there in the Japanese version on N64 I think, I could be wrong though and misheard someone saying the remake or something idk
Very true about the hook shot thing though, in randomizers hookshot anywhere is way OP but super fun
@@ginomctony6773 it's interesting that they took the western Deku palace but the Japanese pirate fortress as the base for MM3D!
Normally,a 3 day speedrun wouldn't be impressive but this is impressive
Well done on this run! Next challenge: Can you 100% Majora’s mask in one 3 day cycle? 😜
I'd love to, but it's unfortunately theoretically impossible. I have another fun challenge for this one in mind though!
Wow, you're a mad fellow. Congratulations!
(TH-cam says the game is Ocarina of Time, pfft.)
Can’t believe that still to this day, no one acknowledges Majora’s Mask as the spiritual successor to Groundhog Day. I mean, think about it: Bill Murray has the same dream every night and he learns how to control it.
8:25 Grand Dad, is that you?
haha that jump on ikana on a invisible platform made this more of a non major glitches than just exploits.
There is another setup to do it, but I was pressed for time and gave myself a no-save rule, so I went with my more practiced method. That being said, i think it's not more of a glitch than getting into snowhead (which is similarly "out of bounds") or abusing a "probably illegally actionable frame" of ice melting to get powder keg early imo
still, probably should've practiced the other setup to reverse inverted stone tower temple more :'D
@@EonAegis im pretty sure the collision you stood on in that section also exists in the n64 version. i definitely have seen that before
Ah so no glitches ok this should be interesting seeing one of my favorite speedruns being done glitchless
16:50 I'm pretty sure you can skip this fight with the captain's hat. Not sure if you cover it later or if it's slower, but it is something you can do.
@@SuperDababy2 it's not a skip! Just a bonus scene. He mentions that you're a lot shorter than usual, then attacks anyway, mad that you tricked him 😂
But you never gave Koume her jar of medicine. How unfortunate :P
OMFG the bomb long jump is the hardest thing i do in any game... befora a few hours i finally did it 💀💀
Those are some pretty big exploits, personally I’d call the frame perfect climb into a normally impossible action a glitch but it treads the line since it’s only an impossible action not an invalid one.
I played majorahs mask3d at 10 years old and on the first cycle i cried a little bit because I thought the game was impossible
12:00 Boring human swimming 😭
22:32 bruhhhhhh they reused this boss in tears of the kingdom for the wind temple. that’s actually kinda lazy of them holy sh. i didn’t know that because i haven’t made i that far in this one but dang
The MM TAS was also cool
very good video but the dragalia music at the end earns you the subscription
i miss dragalia
Nice job, but beating it without any "exploits" might jussssst be possible. :p
Im an n64 mm ytuber and its wild how different the versions are
This is pretty much everything in real time in the others perspective
Funny thing that Pirate fortress shortcut was in the Japanese version of N64 but got removed for the English version of N64 so they decided removing it was stupid and put it back for the 3DS. One of the only good changes the 3DS version has honestly as I definitely prefer how the N64 handles the boss fights and almost everything else as it was just straight up better especially the Zora swimming. Like i get wanting to put Shiro near the fortress, but inside it where you already probably needed the mask in the first place with no magic refills? No that's stupid he should have been at the outside of the fortress as his placement makes no sense
Like again there are some good QoL changes they did as other than that shortcut they made it where you can pick specific enough times of day to change it to that way you removed a lot of waiting around which is a great change, but all the good changes are overshadowed by the mind boggling bad changes
8:22 *FLEENTSTONES!*
I personally hated the Twin Mold fight in the 3DS. for some reason I just couldn't get the red one to fall down no matter how many times I hit him. my first 'kill' of the red twin mold took me 18 in game hours to do, with inverted time. I hate the 3DS one so much...
The twinmold fight alone takes what feels like two days. Then there's the HORRIBLE zora swimming downgrade. Consider me enticed and curious.
Cool. Now 100% it in 10 cycles.
23:35 i kinda feel bad for her lol
this is the entire reason ive never played mm, i always felt like i had to do one cycle to actually truly win
Man… I don’t remember the 3DS version sucking so much of the fun out of the original game. I wonder if there’s a mod out there to… correct the changes made to it to make it more like the original? Cause I love the graphics of the update so much
I believe there is a restoration mod that fixes a bunch of the changes.
DRAGALIA LOST JUMPSCARE AT THE END????
I found this video one 3 day cycle after it was released.
Great work, keep it up
It took me 25 hours of gameplay so yes I can do it in 3 days.
you need WAY more subs G
Mega Man 2 ocarina cover make me feel good
Hd definitely did odolwa dirty.
@@Robbie_Haruna Dude not everyone gets the damn magic upgrade
22:57 SO BREAK THROUGH IT ALLLLL
I wonder if anyones made a mod where you can choose between different timescales, like x6 or x9 more time, or add a variation to the song of time, allowing you to go back one day instead of resetting back to day 1.
In Randomizer, you can adjust the timescale up to X10 for Randomizer I believe? Though that's 64 :)
Going back in time is possible using the debug menu's map select, but it can get messy 😅
there's also the day reset glitch to go back to the start of the same day which can have some strange effects
I love all the SiIvagunner Music
holy xrap 8 hoirs ago... I'm gonna need to watch this soon
I’m curious to see what a route would look like on the Project Restoration version of MM3D, as it keeps the 1/3 speed of the N64, but some glitches are still patched
@@Sprawk on restoration, you can use both this route or the route I used on the Nintendo 64 version, since the only thing that made that route impossible on 3DS was time :)
idk how you'll take this, but you can do the Deku spin attack off a ledge and you skip across the water way faster. Same as on land actually
I know that works in 64, not nearly as well on 3ds :(
Regardless, it's pretty minimized in the run anyway so I wouldn't be too bothered :)
