  • In this video I share how to take care of a bare root rose that arrives before you are able to plant it because your ground is frozen. The goal is to keep it dormant and not put on new growth.

Did not know vendors shipped bare roots to frozen zones, but good to know it’s nothing to stress over.

Roses sure seem resilient. Are there many plants that go throw dormancy similar to roses?

I was able to order Medallion from Flourish Roses! This will be the first time that I will receive a rose in January and this video is very helpful. Thanks.

I dont get it, if freezing weather comes it will freeze in the pot also, no? So then why not plant it directly in the ground? Are you moving the pot inside your home during the freezing nights maybe?

I just bought my 1st koko loko bare root plant. I did not know we are supposed to keep it dormant. I live in Fresno, and our high is 64 degree at the moment. I have my plant for 3 weeks now and leaves are sprouting but they start to look weak… what should I do.?

Hello! I received bare roots 2 weeks ago. We had a cold snap so I did not plant. Temps before and after are in the 50's low 23-29 degrees at night. Issue some are starting new growth and one that is a climber grew 2 ft during this time. Also getting own root this week. Our last frost in NM 7b is expected beginning of May. Do I plant them in ground now? I don't want to lose this amazing growth. Please advise. Thank

@@TheRoseGeek Thank you. That helps so much.. The climber with 2ft growth is Angel eyes. I ordered 24 own root. I am guessing ok to leave in their pots, or do I repot before planting in ground after the frosts. Can I have a huge covered patio, can I leave them under the porch outside? Temps under the porch are at least 10 degrees warmer. Sorry for multiple questions. Thank you for your expert guidance.

Can you store the roses in an unheated garage?

@@TheRoseGeek Thanks again for this video. I just received my bare root roses and it's 13 F degrees outside. I'll have to get pot them up and place them in my unheated garage. Good thing I only have 3 roses!
