Can I just tell you how awesome it is to see you standing in front of that abundant orange tree! Loving seeing you out and about in your new garden!
Hey Girl! * AKA Scooter gardener! *
Thanks for sharing that awesome mix! You are sooo cute hugging your iceberg rose!❤🎉
And seeing Monty, your gardening buddy with you, who wants some playtime with you too!🐕🥰🇨🇦
Love that you're adding roses, nothing is more romantic!😊
The pink rose against the dark fence is going to be beautiful!! Looking forward to your summer garden tours!
Crazy for Janey's garden designs. Janey thinks in rainbows.--matching color combinations without hesitation. She frequently says, "I just wanna see." Based on Janey's former gardens, let's guess what purple blossoms she's going to put with the Icebergs. I remember she adored a certain purple flower in one of her garden beds. And I noticed she has a quirkiness--adding something in comxbinations we would never expect to work, but it always does. I'm in giggles eagerly awaiting the transformations and watching this lady's mind explode in beauty.❤❤
Looking good! Very jealous that you are planting roses right now!
Fresh squeezed orange juice, anyone!! 🍊🍊🍊🍊 Beautiful roses Janey. Awaiting "Bathsheba " a peachy climber David Austin, a Bday gift!!!
That orange tree looks delicious. The garden is coming along. Roses will be so beautiful.
Thanks Rhonda!
Ahhhh the puppy stage so much work but so worth it.
My puppy just turned 1 and I wanted to recommend TH-cam Zak George to you. He has the most gentle approach and is so knowable.
One of the number one commands is leave it. I know your girls would love to watch him train and work on it also. My grandkids love helping.
And I had no idea that you needed to force roses into dormancy! I have 3 that I will be working on this week.
Your channel is both entertaining and informative and i am addicted! Please take a family photo in front of the orange tree. I think it would be frame worthy.
I don't mess with roses because we have Japanese Beetles. THEY LOVE ROSES!
So happy to see you up and around working in your garden again. Can’t wait to see your roses in the spring. 💚
Love that this video came out the day after I did my winter rose clean up!
I have 18 roses on my property (all from Van Winden's🌹)... They were still producing blooms, so I also needed to force dormancy.
I can't believe believe how far you've come along already! It is all going to come together when the pathway gets put in. Can't wait!
I'm so excited to see the roses going in. I kept thinking "she's adding the romance to her country garden" 🥰
I would like to suggest that you take out the front fence so that drivers by can see your lovely garden. And I do believe it would feel more open
Isn't it wonderful that you can get out and dig in the dirt. the last few months are behind you now. you got to feel the love of your friends and family so happy for you. Plant away.. Genie :)
I’ve ordered burgundy ice which i believe is of an iceberg family too .. i read it on a vendor’s sight i have a feeling .. i’ve gone nuts & ordered 46 roses in all including damasks & moss roses.. centifolias.. albas..& many other types
If only we had iceberg roses in grocery store parking lots where I live. LOLOL.
Orange might be a great color on you. This video was so striking with the oranges in the background
Oranges are gorgeous. Looks like they need picked though!
Yay its bare root planting time! I just planted my Eden Climbing Roses thanks to you for inspiring me. 🌸🌸🌸Liz in California
I love watching this today while we're in the middle of a blizzard. Spring is coming! ❤
Yes, oranges in background is gorgeous! Looks like the need picked, there's so many!
They’re going to be beautiful Janey, I love roses. I’m so envious of your orchard, those citrus fruits look amazing 🥰
ive been in a boot since may so great to see you out there. Monty is a joy and love seeing him in the garden with you.
I've never heard of anyone defoliating a rose.
I am in 10b and the Rose Society here recommends defoliating when pruning your roses.
Hurry up spring…I wanna see Janie’s yard and my yard in the spring when everything blooms!
I was a pit of a snob with icebergs r oses every one had them, but it is so giving ,love from Australia.
I don't really know anything about roses so this helps
I have always snubbed my nose at roses because I hated the thorns but since watching all these TH-cam videos, including your Eden climber, I have bought a friend and Eden climber. I bought seven David Austin roses to be delivered and I bought both of my aunts a rose from heirloom roses, so I guess you guys really are influencers😂😂😂 I am so excited because I have three arches to hide ugly fences behind me and I bought a Werton Hall to go on with my paint that I have now I got a dark peach and a light peach and a dark yellow and a light yellow so I think that will be really pretty, all Bare root.
What a huge difference in your property already, it is going to look amazing!
Those.roses.will be so pretty and romantic!
Hi Jaynie! Would love a link for your auger handle thingy! I have 8 white iceberg roses. Love em! You are lucky you have no deer. They are candy. And after over 20 years the deer "discovered" them and destroyed them this year. I hard pruned them all the way. I hop not too much! : x Thank you luv
Morning.
I’m so glad you mentioned not pruning newly planted roses. I bought four climbing roses from Heirloom and they are looking spindly. If I pruned them they would lose the height they gained . I’ll wait until next winter.
Deleafing roses for dormancy, especially if one has several, sounds like a lot of tedious work.😊
It is! You should see my grandmothers rose garden! She has to defoliate every year! (but loves them so worth it!💗)
The best medicine for flu & cold, on your trees❤ juice orange, drink daily, slices lemon in water, drink before breakfast to cleaning your bowl for toxic, drink all day water lemon,❤ let your family drink orange juice fresh❤ wish I have your orange & lemon tree❤
That is really good to know that roses need to be defoliated, Janey. I'm in zone 6b now but not for much longer.
Oh roses❤ I live in sweden and its winter and snow here! Your rosens will be beautiful!
We are freezing in Texas😹🥶
The orchard, wow, it's a beautiful site. Nothing like some roses to add to the beauty.
Do salvia in front of the roses ❤❤❤
How fun to get out and work in your garden. Your dog is too cute! 😍
I am so in love with your puppy but great job on the roses they are going to be beautiful I am sure since you always do so fantastic. I am still learning so thank you so much because my roses are so weak this is now the the 2ns year. So we'll see. Only two are ny othen ten are doing wonderful.
The plans are coming together! This will be a busy month Janey!only is a great garden dog! And get big fast!
Janey your overalls are adorable! I love rose planting time. I need to get out and do some rose care. Thank you for the reminder 🥰
Hi Janey 🌺. I 'm so happy to see you planting these pretty roses , they will be amazing in your garden . I lovet . I have the white iceberg rose and I will look for the pink one . Have alovely day .🌻🌹🌻
Good morning, I certainly understand your comment about generic roses. Where I llive there are Knock-Out roses and they are everywhere like weeds, all a pinkish red. They are even along the train tracks. I don't think I'll ever plant them because they just aren't standout enough for me. I llike to get plants that are unusual from the regular ones out there. Have a lovely weekend.
Yes I've heard that about knockout roses in certain areas! Daylilies and agapanthus are like that here!
I bought my one and only iceberg rose from the Davis arboretum sale a couple years ago. All it gets from me is water and neglect. 😆 It grew huge this past year!
They’re going to be beautiful 🥰
Thank you my friend!
I need to go prune my roses as well, but it has been raining or too cold 😩😭 The garden is coming together so nicely I see the vision. Thanks for bringing us on this journey Janey.😊
Those roses will be beautiful! I’ve gardened with puppies and it can be a challenge they all went down for a nap 😂
Our orange tree is just bursting at the seems right now too!! 😂 way more than last year! That ball gown is going to be dazzling!
Good morning as I’m watching you plant the 🌹 feeling a lot jealous it is -40 here with a -53 Celsius wind chill Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦
The pup is getting so big!
He's going to be HUGE! 😳🥰
I just cleaned up my roses yesterday! Zone 8 GA, I still have shrub roses that need trimming but it can wait about a month or so!
I’ve bought many potted up roses that have flourished.
Every time you show your oranges my mouth literally starts watering, they look so tasty! Will you be getting another Gertrude Jekyll rose for this garden?
Thanks Janey! I KNEW it was something I needed to do with my roses, the have foliage even if we have had in low 20F and snow. They clearly don’t know their best.
Ooh they sound confused...😆
So, it looks like one can prune the rose roots.
A few years ago, I received David Austin bare-root roses and dug very deeply to get those lengthy roots in the ground at the correct depth. It would have been so much easier if I could have shortened the roots.
If memory serves, they were about 2 feet long! 😱
I’ve always thought that you should avoid fertilizing bare root roses for the first year. Have you heard this before, and if yes, what is your reasoning for fertilizer? Thanks for another great video. I love spending my mornings with you Janey!
Monty is getting big
It’s good to see you back in your garden! What type of starter fertilizer do you use for your roses?
today I was using EB stone sure start, but I think any kind that is organic (so wont burn the roots) should work well!
I am beginning to think of planting roses. I have never wanted any due to the thorns, but I might have to get over that. Did you go to the junk yard? I hope you did and that you filmed it for us. I am anxious to see what you found.
Always learning from you! Thanks for all the knowledge and tips. Do you use the insertable knee pads from Duluth?
Hi Janie. Your roses are going to be beautiful. I live in what is now considered zone 9 in Texas. Do I need to defoliate and cut back antique roses in the same way? Also the groundcover type roses?
❤
Sort of an off-topic question Janey. I'm getting ready for some seed starting here in New England. Do you sterilize or clean your seed starting pots from year to year? If so, what is your method? Thanks!!! (PS--Can't wait to see those roses bloom!!)
Lovely, your nice sun hat is the only thing missing..hint hint
😉 thank you my friend 💗
Maybe some “Romanticas” near your gazebo one day 💕
Ooh I like that idea Claudia! So romantic!
Not a rose question but an orchard one. Other than orange trees what other fruiting trees do you have or plan to plant?
It's - 7 F and my climbing roses still have leaves.
Hi Janey, could you tell me where you purchased your walking boot cover? I had surgery to repair a ruptured tendon a couple of weeks ago. I'm still in a regular cast but will move to a tall walking boot in 4 more weeks (this 6 weeks of non weight bearing is for the birds!). And as I am going to have to have surgery on the same foot again in a few months for ligament repair I'm going to be spending A LOT of time in a walking boot. I really enjoy your channel and thanks!
Amazon!
Hi Janey, I live in mi 6b does full sun include winter too? I chase sun in my yard. I have sun in front in winter and part sun in summer months. It's so tricky for me!
💖👍🏻💖
What is sol-po-mag?
What is and where do you get Sid-Pe-Mag? Thanks
What type of Dewalt drill do you use?
What happened if you dont defoliage your roses in winter?
Which sul po mag do you use? And which brand of alfalfa meal?
Hi I live in North Carolina area and Costco already starting selling fragrant roses bare root . But I am in confusion if I can put them in garden or not. Can you please tell me
Thank you
Where to purchase the tutor ..it looks heavy duty.
How tall does that rose climb
Good morning from Minnesota
I have never seen someone sprinkle fertilizer on their plants roots before.
Do you do this because they are bare root?
Also, what gloves are you using to defoliate your roses?
I think it can be painful to prune roses but it appears like you’re not having a hard time.
Love your videos, even though we have completely different climates I usually find useful information and you seem like such a nice person
The fertilizer I was using has mycorrhical fungi so by sprinkling on the roots you get the fungi contacting exactly where you want it! I think i learned that from David Austin? I can't remember! 😆
Hoping to see an update on your camellias
That's so odd, I've never seen anyone call anything bare root that was clearly potted up. Are they using that term because they don't figure they've rooted into the medium before the customer gets them?
*Completely jealous of your orange tree! We don't have those outdoors in Kentucky.
Im so sorry for standing up against the 'trend'.....but its just my way....I cant stand the ugly mottled form of English Roses...dont like them, never did, I doubt I ever will....give me a Hybrid Tea, Grandiflora, and Floribunda any day....beautiful clean classic form. Not a fan of David Austin...Jackson & Perkins or Week's❤❤....all the way.
