It's funny to think that the oculus go is one of the first standalone vr headsets we have ever got even though it isn't the best at all and there are better choices put now it still doesn't change the fact that it laid the ground work for future models

Thanks for the tip about the glasses spacer. I’ve been annoyed about the light coming through the nose hole but now I’m using the spacer(even though I don’t wear glasses) and the light is gone.

if its like any other vr headset. the motion tracking messes up in vehicles. Its extremely annoying, makes everything move around when the vehicle turns...

I used gear vr to watch a movie on a plane before, while watching suddenly the cinema screen is moving on its own... Not sure why, maybe the plane is turning.

I think you should probably get a Oculus Quest it’s the Same all in one and probably the same as Rift but wireless headset but with the rift controllers and 2 of them
It’s no way similar to the rift. The graphics the refresh rate and the tracking are worse , the quest is still good.

I've had my Go for about a month now, and I agree with everything you've said! The biggest cons for me are the frame rate and the colour shift. The frame rate isn't a big deal if the game is mostly stationary or has slow movements, but it makes me a little uncomfortable when I have to shift my head quickly. And the colour shift is annoying, not enough to make me stop using the device, but I think about it when I first put it on. Great review!!
So one thing I could see this being used with is for air travel or just long distance travel in general, just being able to get away from everything else, I'm going to Italy in a month and I feel like this would make that plane ride a lot more bareable.

From what I've seen. The oculus go seems good for watching videos and stuff. Not doing most things you see with VR. If you want a wireless headset for games there is the oculus quest. That can play games and experiences, while doing everything the go can do.

Great for media consumption, but I DO NOT recommend trying to game on 60hz fps for long sessions. It's quite nauseating.
Anyone who's experienced frame drop to 60fps on Rift or Vive can tell you how puke-inducing it can get.
60hz is great for gaming on a screen, but for VR it's very easy to get motion sickness.
aohige Those frame drops are also inconsistent (time between frames as well as fps will wildly change), unlike the constant 60fps with this. Yeah, you might be more likely to be nauseated with this than a normal Rift or Vive, but I doubt it’d be a problem unless you get easily carsick or the like.

That's not necessarily true. I've only gotten carsick twice in my whole life, but I felt sick the moment I tried the Google Cardboard. (It's definitely because of the framerate, as when I tried the Rift, I had no problem.)
Revenge, what makes you think this is going to provide a consistent 60 FPS. That's the max, it is likely to go significantly lower at times. Also, the lack of positional tracking will contribute to making people motion sick. It will be like the Oculus DK1 all over again, which is the only thing that has ever made me motion sick.

I'm an independent developer and will say apart from the obvious lag this setup is exactly what is needed to turn the oculus go into a viable AR device please post how you achieved this and whether it would be possible using any android or ios phone good experiment that developers like me are looking for could the image be made to be all that is visible for instance the only image you see without the virtual space cuz if so then this is how we can bring AR to the oculus go...

This is a pretty good headset.
LOTS of games, with a lot being free.
Portable and lightweight
TV in a virtual room with a screen, which I thought was neat.
Built in speakers, so no earbuds or headphones.

and also it doesn't have a second controller because it's not a room scale VR headset it's mainly used for things like Netflix
i found my Go to be perfect for VR porn, which is really quite a crazy experience... it's like you are actually there with the girl... mind-blown... no more prostitutes for me lol, this is waaay cheaper

If you are looking for a headset for gaming DO NOT get the go. I have a quest for gaming and only got the Go for plane rides and movies.
I got it and the oculus quest 2 and the quest 2 just replaces it no reason to get the go if it wasn't discontinued

Is this the exact same thing as the Samsung VR? I mean like software wise because when you showed the store and games it was the EXACT same as the Samsung VR.
No one is addressing the lack of a viewing adjustment wheel as in the Samsung Gear VR. Please explain how you focus your view.
The oculus go is what I consider an SVR: “semi virtual reality” because it has the interactivity but not as much of the freedom and power of a usual vr headset due to it only having one controller.
Edit: Every thing I have said is in my own personal opinion and I still like the headset as much you all do.

You can actually play steam games on go by transferring files in some way in not 100% sure on how to do it but check it our on TH-cam
This is not a VR head set made for gaming! This was made to watch movies and TV or VR movies and 3D movies. If you want a gaming VR head set that HSS the freedom of being cordless,great for gaming and cheaper get the Oculus Quest.

Let's be real about what's going to make the Go a big winner this year by drawing a simple comparison:
Gifts. Christmas gifts.
$200 for the Go and the wide array of stuff adults and kids can do on a functional, portable, absurdly easy to use, self-contained VR headset.
vs
$200 for a 3DS, or $300 for a Switch. None of which is really going to blow your jaded 12 year old nephew's socks off in 2018, and your Aunt Maggie sure isn't going to use it.
For the money, the gift of VR is the better choice.

The only reason I'm getting the Oculus Go is because its cheep and I want to watch movies and stuff with my friends online. The storage doesn't really seem like an issue to me as well. You can connect it to your computer and file transfer whatever you feel like watching. And the browser has an incognito mode.

I use the Gear VR with my S7 mostly to watch movies. Is the Oculus Go a worthwhile upgrade? Is the picture quality much better?
NOLO is a great third-part add-on you should check out (I have it for my Gear VR and hope to use it on this if I decide I get one). When it comes out, can you do a vs review of this against the Vive Focus?
If this is for watching things and browsing the internet you could just buy Virtual Desktop for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and even Windows Mixed Reality.

This is a excellent device, I develop for one at my work and I think it's a great media consumption device but definitely not made for games. The 2 main reasons are the controller and the only 4 DOF tracking. I feel like Oculus developed this as a 'gateway drug' you buy this for £200, discover you love it but want more so you spend £400 on the bigger better brother the rift

Hey, I wasn’t thinkin’ it.
You're so wrong about the Go providing higher resolution than the Rift! The Go has a single display so it's basically 1280 x 720 per eye whereas the Rift is 2160 x 1200 per eye because it has 2 screens and both of the screens are 2160 x 1200. So the resolution on the Rift is almost twice as good as the screen on the Go.
You may have already figured it out but I'll say it anyway ^^ :
- you divided the actual resolution of the Go per 4 instead of 2. Basically it's 1280 x *1440* per eye (the vertical resolution is the same for each eye so you mustn't divide it ^^').
- the Rift horizontal resolution is *not* 2160 per eye, it's 1080. 2160*1200 is the *total* resolution ^^.
So the Rift has 1080*1200 pixels per eye, whereas the Go has 1280*1440.
The Go has a better resolution.
@@Dante02d12 You're right. When i looked at the specs it says 2160, but once you says that i went back and checked and it said 2160, then further down it says 1080 per eye. I also can't believe i divided the vertical pixes by 2 fit the Go as well! Oops!
It's alright, that happens ^^.
That said the resolution is really the only advantage of the Go compared to the Rift! It's really just a "discover VR" product, for people who don't have a powerful PC for actual VR.
Is it just me, or does it seem like when you're inside browsing for games, movies, songs and whatnot, the house reminds me of "When A Stranger Calls"...that isn't just me, right?

Im not sure, you can't buy a same type of controller and connect it. But you can buy a set of nolo controllers and connect it to the headset and your pc
