The gear VR has 2960*1440 and that is 1480*1440 per eye at max with OLED, camera pass through. compare to the oculus go, the only downside is the 60hz refresh rate which is not a problem since you dont move fast in VR.
FYI: The Gear VR is also compatible with Samsung's S10 Plus phone. The company was forward-thinking when it included the size adapter as part of the package👍👍👍
Same... My dad got a gear VR, he had the s7 edge black, his white one got the screen cracked and gave to my brother, i guess after that.. He got the Gear VR, but now me and my parents have s10, my grandma has a Motorola... Now i am trying my best to get my Gear VR To be compatible with ny phone now...
The resolution and refresh rate specs are false, I have just confirmed from samsung that the Gear VR does indeed use the full specs of the device placed inside of it. It does not downscale at all. So the resolution and refresh rate are completely hinged on the device you place inside of it. So using the Samsung Galaxy s9 or s9+ you will get better specs out of the Gear VR for cheaper price point...minus the cost of the phone that is. But if you are like me you already have the phone anyways so in this case it would be better to get the Gear VR!
Thanks VoidLock, You made my mind up!!! I just started thinking about VR last night and had no idea what what I should get until reading your post. I spent a lot of $ on my S9 in 2018, now the S9 is gonna save me some $. Tks!
As a developer, I own both Go and 2017 GearVR (paired with S9). The only advantage the GearVR has is black levels and color accuracy thanks to the OLED screen. It feels like the same platform in VR (because it is), but the hardware for the Go provides a superior VR expereince. It's Snapdragon 821 isn't bleeding edge, but it's fast enough. What makes the big difference? The optics in the Go are much better. Different lenses. I see almost no screen door effect on the Go. The chromatic aberration (that blue and orange tint you besides white fonts) is much improved on the Go. Transitioning from Go back to GearVR the screen door effect is distracting. The screen door effect on the Go is so nominal it's even better than the Vive Pro IMO. Even with the S9 secured into the headset at times it snaps just slightly out of place, fast head movement can create blur on the GearVR. We're only talking 3DOF tracking, but still it seems much improved on the Go. These aren't little things, they are very important. The 3D spatial audio that pipes right into my ears without any contact from a headset is also a huge plus. I love the audio on the Go. There's actually a pretty long list of app/game developers supported 72Hz now, Go also the option to toggle on Fixed Foreated Rendering if a developer chooses, this does some interesting math to "potentially double GPU performance". This feature is not available to GearVR developers. In general the Go feels like a refined VR product, perhaps the first real refined VR product, GearVR feels clunky, sort of the prototype that gave Oculus the info they needed to build the Go and deliver a solid all-in-one.... I also did not mention how much more comfortable the Go headset is the wear, the option for subscription lenses, etc... Anyone who has a GearVR and uses it often would appreciate all of these benefits so why wouldn't they want to upgrade? If you're a casual GearVR user you'll probably find yourself using VR a lot more often with the Go because it's just a much better experience overall with a familiar platform.
Comic Saga haha ‘fuck you’ because you got burned. Typical idiot response. The ‘reading is hard’ doesn’t earn you any cool points in 2018. You know who would read that ‘way too long’ comment? I've only had the Oculus VR 3 days, and have had no experience with VR.. until now. I was blown away!! At how good it was, compared to alot of things via a normal small t.v ect lol. But you are right about quite a few things.. the head set isan't that comftable on, after a while. And they don't have a lot of "games"? Especially "free".. they also could go with better screen resolution. But overall im pretty happy with the oculus vr. I am still blown away with the featues of this device. Just please give us more games??
@Rory O'Donnell If you can afford the extra 100 bucks, I'd go for the Oculus Go. The experience and apps are similar, but having to slot your smartphone in every time, clean 4 lenses, drain your phone's battery, etc... is a pain. You'll probably end up using the GO a lot more than the Gear for this reason, you just put it on and you're ready to go straight away. Also, if your phone screen looks anything like mine (matte screen protector and constant fingerprints), you'll have to spend a minute cleaning it before each use. I wouldn't bother.
@@ExtremisInvictus um the only person that was a moron was the person that first of all couldn't even @ right and gave such a long ass comment to a person that gave the small comment as "fuck you" and let's be honest DarConall was a dick if he said don't comment when everyone has freedom of speech and even when Comic was right, TL;DR. But I'm not here to be.... YOU and be an ass because that's not me so I'm going to end this off with something nice..... HAPPY NEW YEAR hope you have a good year.
Very few reviewers mention cleaning the lenses and phone with the Gear VR. The Gear VR is great but cleaning basically 4 lenses/two lenses front and back and a phone isn't ideal. And many people use screen protectors on their phones which doesn't help image quality. I will be buying a GO soon because of this.
You are totally miss informed. The gear vr so has a 2560×1440 and the Go is still 60hz, and only 72hz if developers are using it, at the moment everything on the go is 60hz, and nothing yet running 72hz.
2560x1440 is the max resolution on the samsung vr, its not running anywhere near that in actual use, i have both, the oculus go is way sharper than the gear vr with my samsung s9
Was playing cardboard vr on my s9 and gear vr and strangely had very little screendoor, and was pretty much as clear, if not clearer than the go as go has more distortion nearer the edge of the FOV. So could see more of a less distorted screen.
Denis technically the new gearvrs r 2960x1440 ...but it's the same pixel density as a 1440p screen because they not cramming more pixels in the same area but adding more display area
@7331Monkey: Here it goes. Depending of the app, resolution varies based on how demanding it is. The Go looks sharper than both the Gear and the Rift, because it uses an LCD with full RGB pixel arrangement. This allows the Go to have incredibly low screendoor when compared to the Gear VR which used Oled Pentile pixel arrangement. The Gear and Rift have better black colors because they are both Oleds, But the Go which is LCD has greater pixel fill hence why it looks better than both. regarding the rendering for the Gear and the Go, that depends on the developer, but yes they are considerably low res because the GPU tends to overheat when pushing the mobile GPU. In any case that is whats happening in an nutshell regarding resolution differences between this headsets
The gear VR never uses the full resolution of the phone. to start with, the headset blocks off a large chunk of the display so even on the newest version you are loosing the ends of the screen in the very least, not to mention the edges now the screens are curved you loose the sides to keep the display looking correct, so you most certainly don't get that full 2960x1440, you don't even get 2560x1440 unless you gain the power to see through black plastic, not to mention the standard resolution is 1024x1024 per eye so 2048x1024. I have the Gear VR as I got it with my Note 8, I also have the Rift and I bought the Go when it came out as I like the Gear VR for movies but wanted to keep my phone separate. In terms of image clarity its pretty easy to see it goes worst to best, Gear VR, Rift, Go especially as the you can only really see the screen door effect on the Go if you actively look for it which adds a lot to the clarity of the image. The only way you can get the "full" resolution on your phone is to use carboard which is fine for movies, but most of headsets are hit and miss and you then loose out on the additional hardware and either have to have static video, or drift a lot VR. If you are fine with the phone being used and the battery getting drained so you can't use it, then I'd say go for the GearVR and if you have one already then the Go isn't really needed, but if not, the Go is better on all fronts except for black levels and you are likely to forget about that in no time (especially if like me you only use it for movies as that greyish black adds a more authentic cinema experience), it also doesn't get as warm as GearVR but the battery life isn't the best.
Thanks , just got the Gear VR for my S8+ altering having adjusted to the screen door effect common with VR , wondering if it is less visible on the Oculus and worth the extra money as compared to the Galaxy VR ?
The difference between phone vr and the PC vr headsets is on PC VR you actually feel like you are really there because the depth feeling so what I'm wondering is can oculus go give you that depth feeling?
I've tried a couple of the cheap phone vr headsets and have also played the Sony Playstation VR. Just bought the Gear VR and I have to say, while the cheap phone rigs are crap, the Gear VR is actually much closer to the Playstation VR. It actually feels immersive and you don't see weird doubles and overlap in image like with the crap rigs. You feel "there", but the resolution and field of view are a bit lower.
Adam Meade hmm so the gear vr actually has immersion see i didn't think that was possible because it's just a screen without 3D at least that's what I thought so your saying it has 3D immersion see I thought the only thing that has 3D on a screen without glasses needed was the 3ds
It was immersive enough to creep me out when the ghouls were running at me in Dead and Buried. Never experienced anything like that on the $25 headsets I bought at Walmart. I actually got a Rift last week and the VR isn't on the same level, but it WILL give you an inkling of what good VR is like. Honestly, the Rift resolution isn't a great deal better. What elevates it over the phone so much is the touch controllers, wider field of view, and the better graphics a good PC can generate. That's what really pulls you into a good VR experience, I've learned. Hope that helps. :)
Adam Meade I actually hear the rift resolution is lower than the Oculus Go, however with depth and a 90Hz refresh rate, I hear it feels a lot more realistic
You can connect with a 3e party software on a pc. So you can use it . The oculus go will be a second display and this way you can play your games with it. You can stream if you want de steam games and use a Xbox one controller. So for that 160dollar it's a nice set to use. And if you only use it for 2e monitor you can use the cables to charge it. Play for a long time this way
Is this video about standalone vs pcvr ? Or Go vs Gear, you talked more about performance of Go compared to HTC or Rift and barely talked about Gear's issues compared to Go's or their qualities.
I am so confused with all the VR options.. It takes forever to find the right ones for me. I never thought that there are so many parameters that I have to check before deciding. Is there any video online that explains everything about VR?
at 5:06 you were wearing wired headphones with the gear vr. where do they plug into? actually, where do wired headphones plug into the Go as well for that matter?
3:35 my s10plus plays gear vr with a refresh rate of 80hz tested on altspace and minecraft thus ypu have to tweak the visual settings alittle bit but non or less a great experience for me if you are just getting into vr, now if you are more of a hardcore gamer then a vr that connects to a pc or laptop with a decent gpu card will deliver the best performance but i will say it again if you are trying vr for the first time and you have a s10 or s10plus you will experience vr with 0 lagg at all i can reassure you of that, the resolution is somewhat acceptable being in that small of a device you will no loose visual fidelity using a s9 or s10 or s10plus, the performance is also obtain by the s10plus thanks to not getting hot while playing vr thus giving you the performance to play the game, its the first device to play vr it a smooth performance and stable 60fps to 80 fps while playing games.
Could you compare this to the vive focus? The vive focus has position tracking while oculus go doesn’t but they are both standalone wireless vr headsets
you didn't compare the oculus go and gear vr regarding gaming experience. you compared the go to pc headsets.... would love to know what you think of the processing power between the go and the gear vr... I find the oculus go to run much slower than my note 8(GearVR).
Storage imo is a none issue as far as media in that yes can stream, but also access network stored media. I use Samsung VR and SkyBox to view "locally" stored media.
you did not notice a faster rendering on the gearvr+s8 or s9 ? the occulus go is a snapdragon 821 it is slower than s8's snapdragon 835 or s9's snapdragon 845
Ali Baqir and also Samsung phones need to run an entire OS with apps in the background where yeah go runs on android but when you’re playing that’s basically the only thing it’s processing
Is there any overheating issues with the Oculus GO? I am running a Samsung Galaxy S7 with both, GearVR v1 and GearVR v2. Both present me with overheating problems. Ive tried, every minimalistic option on my phone, and cleaners, and I keep my free space relatively high most of the time. Still overheats. Thankfully, I found a way to use cooling packs retrofitted to the front of the VR during use, and I can get alot longer play times. If anyone is interested in this method of coolingand preventing overheating, message me, and ill point you in the right direction.
So in your video you talk about glasses. But I didn't hear about focus adjustment. On the gear VR I can adjust to see without glasses and it's amazing. Does the Oculus go have this feature? If not no buy for me.
I have both and with samsung Gear vr sux cause i only get to play for 5 minutes before damn phone overheats and i can't figure out how to stop the overheating
I had the same problem (note 5) but fixed it. It wasn't a hard fix. Just get a gel pack and stick it on the inside of the gear vr cover. Then put the cover in the fridge whenever u r not using it. When u wanna use it take it out of the fridge and and attach it to the back of your vr. That's one fix, the other one is just to use Google cardboard games, this might sound stupid but Google cardboard games are great! (If you have a controller). I use a ps3 controller. If u wanna use Google cardboard games with it just download an app called Google cardboard gear vr or something like that. Hope it helps!
Do the math on purchasing those phones, plus a gear vr if you can find either in store that is. I had no issues getting my Go either from occulus themselves or online. Go works out much cheaper and has more software support, especially when using virtual desktop and a pc because it works with pc games, even skyrim and doom vr!
I know i maybe in the minority here bcuz i am not a big gamer.. but the only app i mainly use is viseo places.. or street view .. i love looking at new places n my old neighborhoods .. and also my 360 photos ..does the go support this ? With a better resolution than my gear vr with a s9 ?
FOV with the 2017 gear vr, has the biggest FOV out the the gear vr and FOV on the go maybe a little bigger, but not by much. The usable FOV on the gear is better as the go has I feel more distortion and the resolution is the same as the go, and slightly sharper, but has more screendoor than the go. This suggests it maybe a software gear vr issue, dropping the res, it's not a gear hardware issue as cardboard vr, very little screendoor.
The biggest reason I keep my, its its so more versatile, lots of cardboard vr games can play also, GPS works and some apps need it, the go does not have GPS. Also lots of memory expansion on the phone, better for media and heaps of games without running out of memory 64gb is no where enough and limits it use. I have the go also and still keep and use my gear vr due to being far more versatile.
You forgot to mention you can only use the gear vr if you have a Samsung phone so in a way if you don’t have a Samsung phone so the gear vr can cost you about 300-450 dollars
You can’t compare a rift to mobile vr. The reason why people use mobile VR is because of how expensive the rift costs. The rift only costs $399 not bad although you also need a great pc. Aka over $800 which makes the whole setup over $1,000. Gear Vr is also expensive. The gear Vr requires a phone over the s5 (I believe) which costs around $200 maybe a little less if you buy it used. The oculus go is compatible with almost any phone. If you have a Gear VR compatible phone buy that. If you have an iPhone or a phone that isn’t compatible with the gear vr buy the oculus go. The rift is ONLY for people who have a pc that is good enough to actually run vr.
Dude I can buy a rift with 2 sensors and both touch controllers for 2-300. Mobile VR is more about convenience to me. That's why I'll buy the quest and hopefully there's a good way to stream from the PC if you have good wifi. I know oculus could make the perfect in house solution but I doubt they will to not compete with the rift cv1
I have a samsung note 5 and using the samsung vr my phone got so hot it kept shutting off, does the oculus do that also? I just do virtual rides and traveling through countries ,will the oculus go be better?
Maddy owo No bc gear vr isn’t really a real vr. It’s just magnifying your phone screen. The Go can’t play it either it’s too weak. The OCULUS QUEST has vr chat tho I have one 😇
Donavin Merriweather you are expecting too much from a mobile headset. The gear VR and oculus go are one of the best standalone/mobile headsets apart from the quest.
コキチLUNA Also, you actually can use vr chat with the gear VR and the Oculus Go. I own both devices. But you are limited to some stuff while using VR chat.
Great to read the comments here. I know so little about the tech side of it but I'm lovin' my Gear VR. The overheating has been the worst issue so far.
Also imho, talking about gaming with either of these VR headsets is meh because I don't feel as there is much "good" content or there. If a really solid experience is what you are looking for, go full in and either get the rift or the PS4 VR kit (which is amazing)
Hello im planing to buy one of these but im interesting only for movies. Can anyone tell his or her expirience of this. Does any of these play 3d movies and how good is that. Or a regular movie expirience?
I don't have any VR set. All these sets have 2 screens, one for each eye. So with any of these you can watch Stereo 3D - and that should be awesome. Search "How-can-I-watch-3D-movies-on-VR-headsets" and open the Quora website - good explanations there.
Bit of a misleading title, as I thought the video was about comparing the go to the gear vr but it talks a lot about other headsets. Anyway, I have a gear vr with samsung s7 and still opted to get an oculus go as well. Why? because of overheating issues, battery issues and VR apps basically filling my phone up as well as missing calls and stuff whilst in VR. It was also a hassle taking my phone out of the case and plugging it into the gear vr, i was worried about my USB port too. The upgrade was good. No overheating issues, less lens fog. Very happy i can sideload apps to Oculus Go as well in developer mode etc. The speakers are great, with Gear VR you had to put headphones in as the sound out of the phone just sounded awful and not in stereo. Apps i bought with gear vr xferred to oculus go no problem (didnt have to re-purchase) Bluetooth game controller works too. Two issues with oclus go over gear vr. No manual focus slider, and i jsut feel the need to want to focus it. and secondly the field of vision seems worse. In my peripheral vision i can see borders which is annoying at times. So yeah its generally better and more convenient. But you arent getting a better VR experience unlike if you went from the gear vr to the htc vive or whatever.
But you'll need to get the adapter for your note 9 separately. Call Samsung, and place your order. They'll mail it to you, and it's free. They'll need the model number and imei number too. I just ordered mine yesterday.
Ci Caruana yeah. The go has android as well but it only has the AOSP library in it (basically only system apps) and oculus apps, and it makes sure very little of it is running at any given time
I like the gear vr because it can utilize the phones camera for pass-through which makes it easier to position yourself without having to take the headset off
Só i have one situations that i need help: Oculus Go x gear VR powered by Galaxy s7, them i come to ask: s7 has 2560x1440p, so do you think i Will get same experience on both? Because for me its more cheap a little like 5-10$ get gear VR and I can use 200gb SD Card to more vídeos and games, on other side Oculus Go is ALL packed in one but i cannot use extra SD Card and to import It can be a little more expensive or no, also It Will take much longer than Oculus Go to come, and other point is: gear VR has iPd adjudtment, my iPd is 6.7 and Oculus Go dont have. But Oculus Go is New tech and has more games that gear VR dont have. Also i would like to know If Oculus Go vídeos can be runned easily on gear VR If i use s7 ofcourse Thank you for ALL the help, i want a VR to entertaiment and later this year use on my PC with vridge when i get a Better GPU.
I use both and find some things are not in the go store that are in the gear vr store. Love the sd card support for the gear vr. If I cannot be bothered installing phone in gear vr, will use the go, as there is little screendoor on the go, I like it better for media. I find some games run smoother on the go, even though I am using an s9, and speedwise blows the go out of the water. I think think the go runs smoother as it's not a multipurpose system and not bogged down with things running in background, etc. I do find, as the gear has GPS, there is the odd app uses GPS, something lacking on the go. I have no issues with the 32gb version of the go, and it's more convenient than the gear vr. Also with the gear vr and s9, no overheating. The biggest issue with the go is poor battery, only get about 2 hours so need a powerbank.
2:50 = What the F*ck? If I put my S9+ into the Gear VR - I have 2960x1440 and not 1200x1200 - Which is more than any Oculus!!! Thats 1480x1440 per Eye!
my note 9 works great with the gear vr i had a 325 gear vr they sent me the VR adapter , three big differences between the Note 8 and note 9 that I noticed, 1 the note 9 runs a lot cooler the phone doesn't get hot now, 2 the battery life is way better playing the VR with the note 9, and 3 all the VR games seem to run smoother , with the new processor in the note 9 ,, so i am very happy with it
That's funny, my 32gb phone filled up quite quickly with the games and movies I want to watch while traveling. In fact, had to delete games. If you're just using it for games I can see your point but I'm viewing hd movies locally too in the headset.
TenSix I think the oculus go has better quality, is more comfortable, and in general has a more immersive experience. I mean since you have a samsung though I guess there really isn’t any point to drop $200 on the oculus go when you can get the gear vr and it’s kind of the same.
"There is a way to use AirPods, or any Bluetooth connected headphones, with Oculus Go, even though it doesn't support it natively. You'll need a Bluetooth Audio Transmitter with a 3.5mm headphone jack."

Rapid FireINDONESIA I don’t know why you would buy the gear vr for $200 when it sells for 90-100$. If you were going to drop $200 you could have just got the oculus go in the first place. The gear VR is a mobile headset used for watching videos and light gaming - also for people that are new to VR. It’s a good experience for the price and especially for a mobile headset. You are just asking for too much and it won’t be the same as the other powerful headsets.
I have a question regarding watching only 360 4k or 2k videos on youtube as thats all I need from a VR set, not into game playing. Which one should I buy for a better Video quality. E.g if I am watching a 360 4K video on Oculus Go at the moment from TH-cam, on Oculus screen its not 4k Quality at all, and looks like I am watching a 360 p or 480 p maximum video quality on youtube. Is Oculus Quest little better when it comes to this or is it the same. Please let me know asap
Just bought the Oculus Go and will be returning it. Really is a disappointing experience. Has a bunch of horizontal lines, poor resolution, laggy, choppy. I thought I was watching TV back in the 80's. Really can't understand why people say it's an "amazing experience" the image in this video is sharper than Oculus Go.
lol so u think that a go with a 2 years old sd821 ....basically an all in one gear vr runs all apps at the resolution of the display ....but a sd845 runs all apps under sampled lol ........ and the clarity the sde is the same no matter if u r playing a 360p 360 video or a 4k 360 video ...because it's the pixel density of a 1440p display
Yeah, with the S9+ it can get pretty warm at times but nothing too bad... And you can plug your headset into the wall while it's in your headset - when I do that I don't know why but it stays very cool. It maintains the battery level, so you will stay (for example) at 5% if you start charging it at 5%, but my god it stays pretty cool. I am very surprised. I am debating on trading it in for a Go though. I am very conflicted though as there are so many pros and cons on both sides.
The gear VR has 2960*1440 and that is 1480*1440 per eye at max with OLED, camera pass through. compare to the oculus go, the only downside is the 60hz refresh rate which is not a problem since you dont move fast in VR.

Yup it's pain making sure the phone's display is perfect clean with no streaks, finger prints, or specs of dust.
i tried cleaning phone and gear vr resolution is same...
Hey Waj, I just wanna know where are you from?
Yeah the Go has plenty of depth. It looks like you’re in whatever room the game puts you in.
Play for a long time this way
Resolution of the Gear VR is the same as the Go. But the panels are different, One is Oled and the other lcd
The gear vr resolution and refresh rate depends on the device you have installed.

Does the Oculus Go have that goggle view like the Gear VR?
Is there any standalone VR headset which is able to play native 5k 3d video? (I mean native and not the one with reduced resolution on the edges)

They both have headphone jacks. These aren't Apple products!
So can you use the new gear vr with the cover on like the guy is demonstrating it here?
Gotta get one. Which gear tho are you comparing

Does the oculus go support micro usb flash drives yet?
nope
Mark Clemons well got a 64gb micro usb flash drive for future support on the oculus go when that option comes
I have a Gear VR (running a S7 Edge.) But I must say I'm all in on the Oculus Go just for the resolution bump.
Could you compare this to the vive focus?
The vive focus has position tracking while oculus go doesn’t but they are both standalone wireless vr headsets
I have the fold 3 but how do I connect the samsung oculus gear vr in order for it to work do I need to get a different vr set
you didn't compare the oculus go and gear vr regarding gaming experience. you compared the go to pc headsets.... would love to know what you think of the processing power between the go and the gear vr... I find the oculus go to run much slower than my note 8(GearVR).
Storage imo is a none issue as far as media in that yes can stream, but also access network stored media. I use Samsung VR and SkyBox to view "locally" stored media.
you did not notice a faster rendering on the gearvr+s8 or s9 ? the occulus go is a snapdragon 821 it is slower than s8's snapdragon 835 or s9's snapdragon 845
amanieux yes but that 821 is optimized for a vr experience
Zen Dad G Iv got the oculus go.. No overheating issues. But it gets varm... Around (25 c)
cleaners make it worse so
So in your video you talk about glasses. But I didn't hear about focus adjustment. On the gear VR I can adjust to see without glasses and it's amazing. Does the Oculus go have this feature? If not no buy for me.
there's nothing in the go that I know of. I only know that you can buy your prescriptions lens for the go.
Or just wear your glasses.
Can the Oculus Go be charged while using it??
Do both headsets have the same game library? For example Bigscreen

felipe miranda What?
Wait, how tf do you fit any sort of fan in a phone that thin?
I had the same problem (note 5) but fixed it. It wasn't a hard fix. Just get a gel pack and stick it on the inside of the gear vr cover. Then put the cover in the fridge whenever u r not using it. When u wanna use it take it out of the fridge and and attach it to the back of your vr. That's one fix, the other one is just to use Google cardboard games, this might sound stupid but Google cardboard games are great! (If you have a controller). I use a ps3 controller. If u wanna use Google cardboard games with it just download an app called Google cardboard gear vr or something like that. Hope it helps!
my tribe vs the world the s9 does not have any overheating issues
What roller coaster game was this
Where is the footage of the gear vr
Witch is the fit for samsung j7 max???
The go does and technically used higher res since the gear VR downscales for some reason.
The content isnt even that hi res especially in 360 videos it just looks like a stretched image
@@nathancasey7712 I think it got an update by now
I have a Galaxy S10 is the Oculus Go a better buy then the Gear Vr???
Dennis Rogers gear VR fucking sucks
Why is your resolution so clear on your oculus go,my resolution is bad and blurry is there any way to change it.
@Jamin Hardenbrook only had it a day so got check it all out but its really amazing.
Do I need a Samsung phone to use a gear vr does it have to be Samsung?
I believe so...
Thats not rift
lil 5 wait wtf this was meant for a different video
Wait for the Quest
Dude I can buy a rift with 2 sensors and both touch controllers for 2-300. Mobile VR is more about convenience to me. That's why I'll buy the quest and hopefully there's a good way to stream from the PC if you have good wifi. I know oculus could make the perfect in house solution but I doubt they will to not compete with the rift cv1
Would a PC with an overclock rx 580 work?
I have a samsung note 5 and using the samsung vr my phone got so hot it kept shutting off, does the oculus do that also? I just do virtual rides and traveling through countries ,will the oculus go be better?

All Oculus Go games are supported by the Gear VR
can i play vr chat with gear vr?

But you arent getting a better VR experience unlike if you went from the gear vr to the htc vive or whatever.
over heating issues have been resolved with the gear VR version 3
Wow the lenses are huge on the GO
Why does the gear VR downscale the resolution when the go doesn't and is using an inferior chip?
it doesn't down scale, it doesn't even have the ability do to so. the resolution depends on whatever device you use with it

But you'll need to get the adapter for your note 9 separately. Call Samsung, and place your order. They'll mail it to you, and it's free. They'll need the model number and imei number too. I just ordered mine yesterday.
Or get a oculus quest
Oculus Go comes with Snapdragon 821 vs Gear VR useing note 9 with it's Snapdragon 845 gear vr runs better i think
mark lewis nope because Samsung phones need to run an operating system with apps the go needs to run the game and basic os functions
The Go is heavily optimised and doesn’t have to run as many things in the background like Samsung phones do, the Go’s performance comes out on top
Ci Caruana yeah. The go has android as well but it only has the AOSP library in it (basically only system apps) and oculus apps, and it makes sure very little of it is running at any given time
I like the gear vr because it can utilize the phones camera for pass-through which makes it easier to position yourself without having to take the headset off
Update Edit. Oculus Go is $150 new and Samsung gear VR is only about $20 used on ebay

@Jamin Hardenbrook yes, and imagine what you can have with a 1tb sd card. That was my whole point. Id rather have more than less options.
@Jamin Hardenbrook but I already have the phone, so the go doesn't really add anything I don't already have.
TenSix I think the oculus go has better quality, is more comfortable, and in general has a more immersive experience. I mean since you have a samsung though I guess there really isn’t any point to drop $200 on the oculus go when you can get the gear vr and it’s kind of the same.

Both are amazing. Oculus needs to start allowing us to play oculus games.
GWM-BTD Battles, Agar.Io and more! Oculus Go isn’t rly powerful enough.
lol so u think that a go with a 2 years old sd821 ....basically an all in one gear vr runs all apps at the resolution of the display ....but a sd845 runs all apps under sampled lol ........ and the clarity the sde is the same no matter if u r playing a 360p 360 video or a 4k 360 video ...because it's the pixel density of a 1440p display
Gear vr always overheats its unplayable

Yeah, with the S9+ it can get pretty warm at times but nothing too bad... And you can plug your headset into the wall while it's in your headset - when I do that I don't know why but it stays very cool. It maintains the battery level, so you will stay (for example) at 5% if you start charging it at 5%, but my god it stays pretty cool. I am very surprised. I am debating on trading it in for a Go though. I am very conflicted though as there are so many pros and cons on both sides.
