If you could go back in time and, when you were 15/16 years old, be able to play with it for a moment... That would be something.
Yeah it's crazy how fast the novelty wears off. At first it seems like the most revolutionary futuristic technology ever bit after a little while it starts to seem gimmicky

I'm old enough that all this just seemed like yesterday. Finding these set up at Best Buy was probably the first mass introduction of VR to the public. I know I was blown away and got an earlier Samsung phone just to use the Gear VR. The little hand control was quite ergonomic with a nicer feel than the GO controller, IMHO. The touchpad on the side of the headset was also a pretty useful thing before the remote came out.

I had a note 5 back in 2015 that had an app that would make Hatsune Miku appear anywhere and dance either toy sized or life sized. I had so much fond memories with my old gear vr and galaxy s7. You can definitely see the similarities with metas quest software and the gear vr. Yes I know oculus made the software for quest 2 and that became meta.
August 2024. Nothing works with my S6 and S7. Starts an update then says it cannot connect to server. Only as good as a cardboard headset now. Meta have messed it up.
Ugh i'm having the same problem. Worst thing is that Samsung doesn't even know what i'm talking about. I connect my geat vr visor with my samsung S7 and it asks me to disconnect and update the apps first but i can't do that because it gives error and that Meta Horizon app is totally useless to connect with it too...
I had this back in the day and the Note 9, I think you needed the 2018 adapter to get it to work. Honestly, it was ahead of its time then, but the masses didn't like it until Apple released their Vision Pro. I had tons of fun on that thing, ahh good times.
Hey, I've been wanting a VR set ever since I knew about them & have been a disabled antisocial hermit for 24yrs, unable to go out & actually experience ANYTHING. I mostly wanted one to try playing Cyberpunk VR & maybe if I can handle it, Beat Saber. If I could get a basic one like this to work, my wish is to use it with headphones & experience being at a Coldplay concert, or Tomorrowland festivals... I wonder if that's doable on this set? 🤔
I had one for my s6, glad i bought minecraft on it before it was removed from the store. My phone broke eventually but I'm borrowing a friends headset so i can get my nostalgia fix soon lol. My favorite experience on the gear vr was the Van Gogh experience. It was super atmospheric, couldnt do much, but still very cool
Please tell me how to download the games on the gear vr system because I do not have an account and I cannot create an account. There is an error. Can you create an account for me or teach me how to download the games?
Oh wow. Thanks for this. I have a GearVR that I couldn't get to login and assumed since they dropped support that was it. I'll have to check if i still have the games installed that i purchased from their store. Drop Dead VR was a fun House-of-the-dead style game. Don't remember the names of the rest I liked.
I used this with the galaxy s10 for years until I got the quest 2. Even when I had the quest 1, I still brought the gear with me so I could just watch movies like that in a hotel without messing with hdmi adapters
When i had the s8 with this i used a software called liquidsky for cloud pc gaming, samsung phonecast for a big screen in vr, and virtual USB for my steam controller. I would go to the break room and would be playing overwatch on my lunchbreak! Fun times...😂
If you would have just googled how to expand both sides, you'd have saved money by just flipping the switch UNDER the spot you plug the phone in, and pushing the bit back, thus making space for it. This works with s6-s10
I used GearVR with Note 8 last time 1 year ago - used as VR 3d cinema (skybox app) ;) now I use QuestPro ^_^ and the GearVr is on the shelf. For Note 9 you need a special adapter.

It still works even in 2024 and i loved every moment of it
Hey dude, thankyou for the video 😊 well done 👍 everything worked up until you got to the games. Were they already there? Did you download them? I cannot download anything without Meta go, I have a meta account but really lost on this one, big troubles trying to get meta at first, just so many issues, always some hurdle, have been trying for months now, no idea 🤷🏻♂️ I now have home menu on VR with youtube etc but no experiences or games available.. should I give up? Lol
When I was using this...I had a piece of software The software allowed me to connect it to a PC The software allowed me to play alien isolation on an 80 inch screen. Technically it is still usable to... Atleast your one is...
Until yesterday I used my Samsung Gear VR on 2 Galaxy S10 and S7 cell phones. Today a warning appeared forcing an update, but it didn't happen, with a connection error to the server. Please, are you having the same error? Do you know how to solve it? I tried to format one of the phones, but I think is a message from the Samsung server :(
Even to this day, the Gear VR environment and base room is still one of the best. WMR was okay but just not as good/smooth. SteamVR I eventually disabled. Quest is just AR. ^_^ GearVR was truly good.
i didnt know there was a usb c version of this that came in black. i only have ever had an experience with the white gear vr that also didnt have a controller. i used a galaxy s7 for that
I just hand-me down a Gear VR with USB-C One. Friend, do you happen to still have access to this account? If you could share it with me I would really appreciate it!
I was wondering what GearVR was like. Good video.
This type of vr glasses was once used at a rollercoaster called revolution (mount mara when it was vr) in Bobbejaanland, Belgium. Glad they are gone cus vr and rollercoasters dont match.
Brother, I am facing a problem, there is a network problem when I login to Samsung gear or Oculus Runtime app, please help me.
I have been making fun of angry bird players, but VR bird actually looks very fun!
I haven't seen Samsung VR headset in ages
I got the Samsung Galaxy S10e aa well
I have some specific questions - are there any live forums or threads I can post in? TIA
I loved my Gear VR, but man it sucked! Constant glitches, it looked like an old Oculus dev kit (pixelated, terrible). But as a teen I loved the novelty of having a headset for cheap. I just got a Quest 3 and it blew my mind.
I can't play the horror games I loved on Gear VR because they're too realistic on Quest 3 😂
since 3 weeks mine stopped working. Even this doesn't work. It will always give the update window
Then it won't connect to server. Same for my s7
Me too I was updating some app from the store & when I try to use my vr & keep bringing the gear vr install bs & now I can't use my vr anymore. I tried everything everyone said online & nothing
@@dresanchez8514 So we just have to throw all our contols and headsets away.
I had so much fond memories with my old gear vr and galaxy s7. You can definitely see the similarities with metas quest software and the gear vr. Yes I know oculus made the software for quest 2 and that became meta.
i went to computer stores just to screw around with this. this thing is awesome
haha it’s a pretty good time 😂
Cool video! It's funny you tried the note first. I just found one of these and tried the same thing with a note 20
0:17 this part killed me
August 2024.
@@Gustyrd1 They want you to "upgrade" total wankers.
I had this back in the day and the Note 9, I think you needed the 2018 adapter to get it to work. Honestly, it was ahead of its time then, but the masses didn't like it until Apple released their Vision Pro. I had tons of fun on that thing, ahh good times.
Can itnwork for the samsung galaxy A15 5G?
How did you get it to launch? Mine wants to connect you a server and download files but it won't do it when I attempted it.
Can you review the samsung tab 3 10.1
(Day one)
this guy is hilarious.
nice video..
2016 was 8 years ago? Sh*t 😐😂
hahah yeah tripped me out too
Did all that still doesn't work with the 8
Same with S7
There’s no reason it shouldn’t be usable..it’s just using your phone
Dead and Buried was my favorite game on the Gear VR. I wish that I could play it again.
That actually looked super fun!!!!
haha it was a blast
i have one of these and i liked using it for playing retro games on emulators
such a good idea
How
Please tell me how to download the games on the gear vr system because I do not have an account and I cannot create an account. There is an error. Can you create an account for me or teach me how to download the games?
my to
If your problem is solved, let me know
@@RAY10-rl8scIt's a problem, pro

Oh i didn't know about this cool
if you look on Facebook marketplace you’ll find a bunch for cheap 😀
When i had the s8 with this i used a software called liquidsky for cloud pc gaming, samsung phonecast for a big screen in vr, and virtual USB for my steam controller. I would go to the break room and would be playing overwatch on my lunchbreak! Fun times...😂
hahah love this 😂
I never knew that Gear VR was an Oculus product. I guess it makes sense since the Quest 1 uses the same processor as the S8
Do you support phone s22 ultra ?
S22 Plus to S24 Plus add the VR bro
fun fact: did you know that gear vr had minecraft support? it was called “Minecraft: Gear VR Edition”. It was like Minecraft pocket edition but VR Mode. pretty cool eh?
thanks helped a lot got it working after 4 years.
Glad it helped
Can you give me that version of gear vr service?
If amaze vr was still working I think there would have been a legitimate use case to still use gear vr / oculus go. There were a couple of great games that just never made it to quest
Thanks !!! It works :-))
If you can not click with the integred controler, just disable "developer mode" in "manage activity" and you will be able to click again.
Nice video. I have the Note9 but i have the late 2017 edition, the one that is compatible with the Galaxy Note8 and i did had to get an adapter for it cuz the stock one didnt fit the Note9 as you demonstrated and also the Note9 will not fit the early 2017 edition (trust me, i tried). It still works even in 2024 and i loved every moment of it
No meu não tem a opção de desenvolvedor, porquê será?
The note9 actually does work on the GearVR, I used to use it with mine.
Great but most of us have larger Samsung phones 🙂 Is this dinosaur headset compatible with the S20 Ultra or S24 Ultra (maybe with some tweaks)?
Smash Hit was my 1st vr experience and wow, I miss that game!
I started vr on this and I literally would play for hours ❤ now I have a quest 1 and 2 and still wish to play the og games frome gear vr
Lol
When I was using this...I had a piece of software
The software allowed me to connect it to a PC
The software allowed me to play alien isolation on an 80 inch screen.
I tried to format one of the phones, but I think is a message from the Samsung server :(
Did you find a solution to this problem?
Same S6 S7
Even to this day, the Gear VR environment and base room is still one of the best. WMR was okay but just not as good/smooth. SteamVR I eventually disabled. Quest is just AR. ^_^ GearVR was truly good.
I was saving my money for my sisters birthday but I needed this gear vr so I made 1 by my own
you must test GearVR for Samsung Galaxy Note 4! that one is the 1st gen of Galaxy GearVR
I literally took mine out, like a week ago. Had trouble installing some software, but I'll try your suggestions. Game on!
Also on some phones, try to enable OTG (on the go) so you can use the TouchPad with non-Samsung devices.
i didnt know there was a usb c version of this that came in black. i only have ever had an experience with the white gear vr that also didnt have a controller. i used a galaxy s7 for that
Guys pls is the S20 FE SUPPORTER ? i cannot connect to the bluetooth controller
I remember this!!
I just hand-me down a Gear VR with USB-C
One. UI 5.1
Android 13
Galaxy S22
I'm not interested in any games, more interested in watching Media with the little handheld Samsung Gear VR Controller to watch some Netflix.
The Headset works where you point your head to hit Play/Pause/FF/Reverse and open files, but sometimes the Horizon is off and need the separate controller for that.
Could use some tutorial links to get this hand control working vs tilting head to open files and control the media. Neck is getting stiff
Thanks
Nice video, bro! But I cannot find the app on android store.
I found one for 3$ and later i got the galaxy note 7 so now i can use it (It works perfectly)
