Definitely not for casual drivers. If you want a casual driving car don't buy an American muscle car.
@@LeadStarDude Muscle cars were definitely not 'made' for experienced racers, they were made for weekend warriors heading to the dragstrip for fun. There's a reason why the entire 'race on Sunday, sell on Monday' shtick was touted by the vast majority of American manufacturers during the 60's and 70's. On top of that, the entire body-in-white, COPO and F/X programs they had. Outside of the GT40, Daytona Coupé and Corvettes, they tended to not really give a shit about handling.
You're correct Jeep. I've taken multiple courses at the Bondurant school in Arizona, in narrow and widebody Challenger Hellcat 6-speeds. They handle well enough that most people will never get to the limit. And they don't break while being beaten mercilessly for months on end. That Aston would explode on the first track day of six hours. Hellcats do 8,000 to 10,000 miles before being sent back to Dodge - running perfectly well. The people who dis on Dodge just don't know how to drive one. They expect engineers to make cars that practically drive themselves. When American muscle cars were designed they were made for skilled racers to reach the limits of their skill. Acceleration and holding top speed was the primary goal.
I bought a Hellcat after learning that they can take that kind of punishment. Five years later and it has needed nothing - except gasoline.
@@Arcticun Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday applied to far more then just drag racing, and to far more countries then just the US. That all disappeared when cars no longer had to be raced using factory options.
Thank you. The Men that made Motoring interesting and didn't take it too seriously when it was not necessary.
With a widebody challenger he would have busted that Aston
Had a rubbish day.
This cheered me up.
The funniest part is if that if Hammond pick a charger hellcat he would have won by a couple seconds against the Aston
@Nick Nicholas I don’t have to dream it, a charger is a little faster on the track then a challenger
@Nick NicholasWe definitely like big and noisy cars, but I wouldn’t say all American cars are the same. I mean Tesla is the leading electric car company and we know they aren’t noisy. If we are taking about having some semblance of sophistication or track capability there are cars like the Ford GT, the corvette zo6, and the viper acr. I think it’s just preference
Hellcat wasn't out yet when this was filmed
Three treasures that will be greatly missed. They need to record all that they can.
I would gladly agree with Clarkson any other day but, considering how HEAVY the Dodge is,... That was very impressive, the Dodge Wins.
🤔🤔
Time is time, He lose.

I agree but, if a Cheetah were to win a race against an *Overweight Cow* by Less than half a second,... Would you really say that the Cheetah won that one? be honest.
@@XDRONIN but cows dont race
Compare those is like comparing formula 1 to a truck
One point for the manufactor is that the car has less weight as possible.
@@XDRONIN any race Will have not cars equal. Not even formula 1.
"O leclerc beat verstappen because in the end of the race had more fuel so was heavier than the red bull
Lord I know you don’t generally do this, but if these 3 BOYS could live forever I’d really like that, a lot!!!
Love the Aston but there's something beautifully old school about the Dodge
And 100K less expensive
These blokes are absolutely hilarious; great episode.
Happy to see you two no totally disrespecting the American car for once. Not really a track car. I say put them in a 1/4 race and watch the extra 100k pound really be shameful.
4:15 poor James may he was trying to have peace
10 seconds nice
Great show people 💯💯💯 Les from Perth WA 👍👍👍👀👀👀
I am going to miss these three bafoons, the BBC did not do them justice and Amazon tried but after so many years thing do come to an end. By far the best car show to ever grace the TV. They have chemistry. I will now go and start watching from season 1, again...🙃😔🇺🇸👍❤
Someone made a comment about Aston Martin's, " They are sheep in Wolf's clothing". I had a co worker who had worked in corporate management with both Ford and Aston Martin.
His issues with Aston Martin stemmed from the extremely high cost and frequency of repairs required to maintain them.
He said a new clutch for the manual cars was required about every 15,000 miles.
$6000.00 dollars.
Dodge challenger
Nothing funnier than Hammond in a muscle car.😂
Oh the Brit’s, always trying to prove their vehicles are better than the Americans. These are two completely different vehicles.
I hope after this track match up they head to the quater mile strip to show the Dodge take that thing apart.

Honestly, as much as I do love drag racing, I find it kinda lazy. You can make anything go fast in a straight line if you know what you're doing. Carrying a decent speed through the corners is much more impressive imo
Didn't hammond have one in a drag race against the camero . Took him like 3 hours to get it set up.
@@zeeman857 I don’t watch drag racing, but if they’re going to do a test which obviously favors the Aston then the least they should do is have a drag race that favors the Dodge
@@williamoleary9330 well to be fair, they were only .3 seconds apart from each other, if that. If they had given them to a professional driver the Dodge probably would've beaten the Aston. The fact is that Jeremy is actually the better driver of the 3, but again in the hands of a pro, the outcome probably would've been flipped
Just hilarious......good show mate!!!
Pure class the boys are back in town ave that TOP GEAR
