You're right, it's not two 3 hrs movies, it's a 5-6 hrs movie. I think that it would've been unfeasible otherwise, however it was also bumping on a market imperative : no movie theater, or even individual, would invest 5-6 consecutive hrs of their time in one shot. Yes of course, some like me would do that, but not enough ppl. Maybe that's also why some were stating that Dune was impossible to render on a cinema screen? Well, now it is xD
Yeah it wouldn't get made as a 5 hour movie, I understand why they did it this way and that's why I would describe the 2 of them together as being stronger than either one alone.
i committed a great movie sin when i saw part 2: i had not yet seen the first one. honestly? it didn't feel like much context was missing. "i want revenge because they killed my father." oh, okay. he wants revenge because they killed his father, i can get behind that. any questions i had at first were pretty much answered. i watched part 1 the other day, and I understand that it was basically just world-building, but part 2 was soooo much better. more character development, more satisfying action, and it takes its time on everything as well as it could (book adaptations are hard).
This movie blew me away!
I disagree about rewatchability of Part 1 and 2. I’ve watched Part 1 five times since its release and now with Part 2 it’s just more amazing material to add to the Dune saga. You don’t have to watch it all in one sitting.
Maybe you don’t, and that’s great for you. That’s just not how it is for me. I only rewatched part one because this one was coming out
Yes read the books…if you’re a reader …it could be a 10 h movie…so much was couldn’t be included…
Yeah that's the norm, you just can't include everything
Thankfully it's a film. And those things that "couldn't be included" really just shouldn't be included.

Only because Madame Web is so good that it operates on another plane of existence entirely, above what our feeble minds can comprehend. So it may seem to us that Dune Part Two is "better", but I think we all know the truth.
