@@NoWr2Run Thanks bud. I am sure he is in peace, with his God now. It would had been meaningful to do fishing trips and all with dad, some father and son relationships just never get to that level.
What an awesome project and gift for your dad. Enjoy these father and son times Eric. We're not here forever. I wish my dad was still around. And after 10 years I still miss him! Thanks for sharing Eric! Stay dirty amici!
This was a great series and I can't think of a better way to cap it off. I love the use of radios. Every kids dream come true. You dad seemed both content and proud, giving up a truck you love is not easy but knowing its as loved and appreciated and realized in ways beyond expectations seems to have made it worthwhile.
That's awesome. Who wouldn't love that truck!! But that your Dad already loved the truck when it was stock, it's easy to see how he loves it now, especially that his son rebuilt it. What a blessing! ✌
THANK YOU !!so much for letting me share in this whole project from start to finish !! Im almost the same age as your dad and have a 93 siera ,so I really enjoyed this video, these are times when I wish I had kids also ,God bless both of you !!
I noticed one small thing while your dad was driving the truck. Not a squeak or rattle to be heard when he hit bumps. Seems like you did a better job than the factory putting the interior back together. Great work
I'm about 10 years younger than your dad BUT I'm betting that deep down your dad is as excited as he would have been if he got that perfect bicycle on Christmas morning when he was 8 years old. It's just a matter of maintaining dignity when you don't unleash your inner child.
That one most definitely wouldn’t be able to be rushed. It’s going to take a while. Even the “new” parts are in bad shape. That rubber has most definitely gone bad just from sitting. So just going through it to see what it really needs is going to take some time.
Great video Eric, your father does great in front of a camera, I would not mind seeing him more often on your channel. Also cool to see the fairmont running healthy AFRs under full load, love to see more videos of that thing going down a dragstrip!
Now that I’ve watched everything on your channel, Is that the end of “fairmont” and “ dads truck” playlists? I just loved the blow by blow “mega playlists” please do more and more please?..
Good job on the truck sir I have a 1994 Chevy Silverado C1500 extended cab with the 4.3 v6 after watching your video on your dad truck my dad had the same truck that I’m driving that truck he give to me for my first vehicle at 19 year old and you inspired me to Restore his truck that he give me because he love that truck and it help me to learn to work on trucks my dad truck need more work on the body and other work done to it my grandpa love that truck every time I work on the truck on the weekend my dad and my grandpa would help me work on my truck my grandpa die a year later and I go Visit his gave and drive the old Chevy to his gave let it run it had no exhaust on it so it was loud and my grandpa love the sound of it Thank Eric for the inspiration to restore the truck for my dad and grandpa Thank you
As far as I know, that’s true except if you buy it when it doesn’t have a name brand. Say you go to Walmart to buy gas, they will have the cheapest stuff they could find and it won’t have the detergents in it that a name brand gas station will. At least that’s what a friend who buys gas for a chain of convenience stores tells me.
shell, mobil, exxon, bp = good rest is garbage, find a station near your house and see who delivers it, some name station owners dont buy from there franchise and unload garbage, yet there are circle k's that sell shell fuels
Nice job and thanks for sharing. The 51 seems to have a lot of sentimental value in your family. Would be nice to see you and your Dad working on it together. Hop the ssponsored content helps you out. Your content is better to watch then the junk produced by the power nation or motor trend shows lately. Enjoy all the time you can with your Dad. You have mentioned your kids and their vehicles. Will we see them in any videos? You mentioned your Daughter had some interest in spinning wrenches. Would be nice to see her on camera if you feel comfortable with that. Jessi Combs was influential in getting women in the automotive field. Who knows, maybe your Daughter could do something similar. One comment about the truck towing a boat. Only being 2WD, must have made it tough to pull the boat up the ramp at times. Lots of 2WD trucks have ended up in the drink trying to pull a boat out of the water. What are the future plans for the truck? You mentioned stripping down to the frame and blasting and painting the frame. Is that still a consideration? That’s a big job for sure.
Started watching this channel a few years ago and was totally excited when I saw you starting this build. Quick question I myself have an 88 GMT 400 would please tell me the axle spline count on the truck? I'm hoping to do a mini spool in the next few weeks.
Heck, I get about 9-10% better gas mileage with V-power vs regular on my V6. 10% better consumption also means 10% less gunk in the engine. And it cost only 6% more.
Thanks for posting the video. Time with family is the most important part! I wish I could use the shell premium, but both of my vehicle have over 150k miles and I dont want to put anything over 87 in them. What was the vehicle you and your dad was talking about getting running?
I watched you make that pass at Zmax on Power Tour. If I remember correctly, your 114 mph pass indicated that you have way more in that car than 12 second e.t's..
The real difference on gas grade is really the engine detonation (early ignition causes by high temperature of carbon deposited on the engine valves) that can damage the engine, the v power protect the engine from detonation, whereas the regular gas can cause detonation if the engine has carbon deposit on the valves and the pistons.
Is it me, or is the truck very loud? If your dad likes it great. But I know my dad wouldn't want a truck that loud...unless that's the audio from the camera?
My 84 Toyota Van always ran better with the Shell Premium V-Power. I still heard pinging with the generic Premium gas. Now they put that ethanol crap in all of it, so it really doesn't matter what brand of gas you use anymore.
Off the topic of this video, could you do a video on adding automatic light control to a vehicle without. ( 2013 grand caravan) would appreciate it. Ty
SHELL is a TOP TIER GAS STATION & that makes a difference to your motor. As in it has better detergents in the gas so less deposits on your valves, combustion chambers & fuel injectors. Shell also PAID FOR THE GAS ERIC & his father went through on their trip. I would ADVERTISE THEIR GAS IF I HAD SUCH A CHANNEL ALSO IF THEY PAID FOR MY GAS, WOULDN'T YOU ? GREAT VID. ERIC, NOW GET THAT 350- 350 IN THAT 51 CHEVY IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE YEARS TO COMPLETE SINCE IT'S BEEN SITTING SO LONG. I REMEMBER A VID. Shell should give you Airplane fuel for the Fairmount. That is what they used back in the day for racing motors. Anyway great video.
One of the best series ever on youtube! Good work!! When will we see some dyno numbers and track runs with that DT383?? :D :D
Great video man.
Good video but---as for the Shell advertising--gas is gas in the US. The only thing that really makes any difference is the octane rating.

I only use Amoco gas. They’re a station next to my local Blockbuster video and Woolworth’s.
Where do you live ? I haven't seen either one of those stores in years.

I was curious because there are still a few Amoco branded stations around.

V-Power make a difference when I'm towing the trailer
I AGREE, TOP TIER GAS IS WHAT YOU WANT & SHELL SELLS TOP TIER GAS, IT HAS BETTER DETERGENTS IN THE GAS.
Do you have any videos on 1 barrel throttle linkage to accelerator pedal
Those wipers are driving me nuts they sound like the windshield is dry it’s like nails on a chalk board to me lol
Maybe some rainex might help
Or some Shell V-Power Nitro Plus. :-D
