Your scraps are so cheerful like a bowl of jelly beans! Lol Love your blocks, another quilt to add to my list. Your videos are sew much fun. Thank you😊
As you can tell from my online moniker I LOVE scrappy. The log cabin block, whether wonky or not, makes a great scrappy quilt. I love your daughter's quilt.
Another fun quilt to sew. Corey I just received your OH Happy Day! book and am ready to make the Slow Down turtle quilt. I watch Tammi Earnest on TH-cam and she shows her projects and customers quilts that she longarms. A few weeks ago Slow Down was a featured quilt and was so cute I had to send for your book. So on her March 21st TH-cam, a customer had done a sampler out of the same book. What a bonus that was for me. Your patterns are so fun and now a log cabin that I will try too. My Saturday morning is complete by watching your video. Thanks.
That is such a fun quilt! I hosted the Oh, Happy Day sampler sew along here on the TH-cam channel. If you want to go back and follow along, all of the videos to make the sampler using the blocks from the book are still here (as well as the finishing instructions): th-cam.com/play/PLcvB3TuqwfMzjTvb11UIEF9ZZ3q3Ffk38.html
I like how you mention pieces with really wonky centers, even though they create more scrap pieces, make scraps that can be centers for the next blocks
You always give us great tutorials. Easy to follow and learn from. Thank you for your teachings and quilty wisdom! BTW so glad to have Mr Tiggs makes his appearance! ❤️
These blocks are so much fun to make. For this who may not care for scrappy quilts pick a color family or two and vary the tones. There is no right or wrong. I also find it helpful to set in my mind what size scrap is too small. I usually toss scraps that are less than 3/4”.
I love your tutorials & watching your thought process. I've tried & failed at this before. I feel more confident now so thank you. I wish I could show you my sewing assistant Puff who organizes my trimmings & Goldie who helps me paper piece. Love you Corey!
I made a rug mug using this technique, but I ran into a couple of issues and you covered them here. It’s easy to get things so wonky that nothing fits. I can’t wait to try this again. I am working on my first quilt right now. I would love to do one like this that is less structured and maybe a “planned” scrappy. Your daughter’s quilt is beautiful. ❤
Oh good!...I'm so glad I went over the things that gave you a bit of a fuss. =) It's fun to have some quilts that are simpler to make that we can make when we need a break from those fussier to piece ones. =)
TY Corey for taking the time to make this tutorial! It really was a lot simpler than I thought it would be. I have a Sadie who controls my sewing time like Tigsy does.
Chloe’s quilt looks so loved and cuddly soft! Love seeing you in your sewing space over a set! Love watching my favorite quilters sew too. This is a great format today! Please sew with us more, loved that block!
I love doing scrappy blocks especially if I have been working on projects that need more attention to detail and/or have a deadline. Thanks for sharing your quilts with us and your time.
Corey thank you so much for showing us how to do this block! I really Love the wonky cabin block it looks like so much fun!! Tell Chloe I loved here quilt so pretty!
I’m a huge fan of Log Cabin quilts! I’m a huge fan of scrappy quilts .. and have lots of scraps … I’m about to start a quilted jacket … Thanks for sharing this … my jacket will be WONKY!
I love the quilts you have made with this fabric and how your cat helps. I have a quilting helping cat she's special as I am in the Isle of man so she is Manx and has a stumpy tail and a attitude. I would love the box as moda is my favourite and I would like to have a go with the cup cake papers
This is a wonderful tutorial - thank you so much, Corey! I can’t wait to gather my scrap bundles and start a couple of blocks. I can see this being a continuing project, sitting by the sewing machine, and adding scraps from different projects as I go. What a great way to chronicle the quilts that you have made through the year! (It was really nice to see Tiggsy show up!) ❤
You're so welcome!...they are such fun blocks to make--I hope you enjoy sewing some up! You're right...these are great ongoing blocks to use up scraps from your various projects. =)...a fun scrappy, memory quilt. =)
Love cats on cutting tables. My Peanut Butter loved it. I was amazed he never got his twitchy tail cut off! Great tutorial. It’s my favorite kind of quilting.
Thank you for the tutorial. I think this block in the colors you showed would make a cute baby quilt. The bright colors are fun and babies like bright colors. The one your daughter made is more soft and would be beautiful for a girl baby or an older child. Our guild has been asked to make some quilts for all ages and I think this would be a great idea to use some of the smaller scraps we have.
It certainly has a crazy quilt vibe, doesn't it! I would say the main differences between crazy quilt blocks and these would be: 1. Crazy quilts often are made up of many different types of fabrics 2. Lots of embellishments are added including decorative trims and top stitching
LOVE LOVE LOVE the visit from the kitty kat!!!!! my Precious sits on my lap while im sewing and along the back of my shoulders when i'm ironing or cutting!!!!! an always welcome presence!!! the wonky quilt is added on to my to do list. thank you for sharing......
Love your colourful fabrics. I made a wonky log cabin quilt in 2015. All my starting pieces were cut with 5 sides from the same fabric, all different and not always centred in the block. I made 20 blocks, each trimmed to 12.5" and sashed with a dark blue fabric. I love sewing scrappy projects 🥰
Awe... what a beautiful helper!! While I am a scrappy quilter I have to be traditional... if that makes sense. I see all of the wonky stuff, "freestyle" sewing and not really sure if that would be my cup of tea, as the saying goes. I do have the "Wonky Log Cabin" trim tool ruler from Creative Grids, so I might do one from that one just to get my feet wet. Thank you for your encouragement of going outside the box. Enjoy the warmer weather & Happy Quilting!! 🧵
Love these. Thanks for the tutorial. My Rika loves to flight with me for the iron, she wants to lay right next to it or she wants the spot I just got done ironing on. Gotta love our cats! Back to sewing. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks so much!...Tiggs doesn't usually bother the iron (he really doesn't like the sound of the steam) but that day he gave it a little sniff. =) I can see how cats would like the warm ironing board! Frances, our shy kitty who is never on camera, always enjoys sitting on the registers when the furnace is running. She's always a little disappointed I think when they switch over to cold air in the summer!
This looks so fun Corey! I think this would make a nice kids quilt too for any age😊 Thanks for a very informative video and love seeing these videos and oh! your cute little cat❤
It is a fun one...I don't recall how old Chloe was when she made this quilt but it wasn't recently. I would guess maybe 12 or so? It's a really great beginner project.
Thanks so much for this fun tutorial! I have been using a lot of bright, fun fabrics lately, and will start putting the loose scraps in a box to use. I’m looking forward to your new line coming out to add to the mix. My cat’s absolute favorite part of quilting is trying out the new quilt as I put on the binding.
I would say the main difference would be all of the embellishments and varying fabrics used in crazy quilts. Construction wise (with the exception of the embellishments) the blocks are pretty similar!
This was such a fun video seeing these wonky blocks come together. I plan to make some in between other sewing projects just as mindless sewing while listening to audio books. This will be lots of fun with my 2 1/2” strips, 21/2” block scraps and 11/2” strips to make an original block!😁 Thank you Corey for making this look very easy to sew, trim and press! I enjoy your channel very much.😊
Awhile back I had ordered some scraps from one of your collections and have wondered what to do with them. I'm working on two different scrap string quilts already and a crumb quilt from something else. I think perhaps I can do this with them! Something CO|MPLETELY different! We'll see how that goes! Fun, fun, FUN!! It was good to see Tiggs this morning too! He is such a beautiful cat!
I have been really struggling to figure out what to do with my scraps. Thank you so much for inspiring me! My kitty likes to lay under my sewing station so I have to step over her constantly 😂
Cool and fun and easy and bright. Love the cat. Enjoy your shows as always. I lived in Huber Heights while my husband was working as a lieutenant at Wright Patterson AFB. Beautiful green state. Loved it there. Attended Sinclaire and worked at SRL in Xenia.
The trims are not waste. They are the pieces closest to the center, or the last fills at the outside edges. They can be seamed with others that are "too small" and be used anywhere.

This is fun and care free block. Your daughter’s quilt is so pretty. Thank you for showing us how to construct this block.
So simple to make!
Your scraps are so cheerful like a bowl of jelly beans! Lol Love your blocks, another quilt to add to my list. Your videos are sew much fun. Thank you😊
Oh thank you!...thank you so much for watching!
Omg, perfect description of Corey's fabrics!!!😊😊😊.
@@CorianderQuilts Lordy…jelly beans would be an awesome collection name!
@@meemawpdx2986it would be cute to figure out a block that looks like a jelly bean to go with it
And here comes Mr. Tiggs right onto the fabric! I love this guy!!!
Right into the middle of things!
As you can tell from my online moniker I LOVE scrappy. The log cabin block, whether wonky or not, makes a great scrappy quilt. I love your daughter's quilt.
Log Cabins are great scrap blocks!

Thanks as I'm not aware of this book and will definitely check it out and I also love her fabrics.
Excellent demonstration about how to make a wonky log cabin block, Corey. Thank you!!!
You're so welcome!
I like how you mention pieces with really wonky centers, even though they create more scrap pieces, make scraps that can be centers for the next blocks

Thank you Corey for showing us a different kind of log cabin quilt! Too cute! Glad to see Tiggs! Pretty 🐈⬛! Have a great weekend!
You have a good weekend too!

I love Chloe's scrappy quilt. I don't especially like log cabin but this is really cute. Thanks Corey-I'll have to try this.
It's such a simple one one to piece too. =)
Seeing Corey create…perfect start to my Saturday. Boost my sewing mojo!
Have a wonderful Saturday!
I adore your colors. I buy LOTS AND LOTS of your fabric. It makes me happy.
Thank you so much!
Happy to see Tiggs living his best life!
Those blocks are so fun! Someday I’ll have enough scraps to do a project like this. 😊
Quilters usually manage to collect scraps with very little effort! =)
