I’m thrilled you pin your row blocks together before you sew and also label each row. That is how I do it to stay organised. Your fabrics are beautiful

Hello 👋, I am not one to post...however this is my first QAL and I absolutely adore Corey. I'm new at sewing and quilting so I love when I learn new things. I'm currently in the process of sewing block A. I watched Corey this morning and the way she chain pieced her blocks/rows is AMAZING!!
I bought the buttercup and slate materials as I wanted to make sure this project was going to look good and me being satisfied as I am finding out I'm pretty much a perfectionist.
Thanks for all the comments as I am learning from everyone here

I'm just getting started. I am using the 2.5 x 2.5 squares as leader and enders as I work on a different quilt. To me this is a perfect pattern for them. I didn't want to just sew rows and rows of squares together and have a plain pattern. I saw this last month and put my heart to purpose this. So as I have now begun the other quilt, this one has begun as well. Mine might take 2 years to finish also. That will depend on what I decide to do with the finished project. A Queen quilt or a lap quilt. So happy you have posted this and, Yes this one will be completely scrappy with the exception of the joining squares. Thank you greatly. This will be fun.

Thanks for sharing those pressing tips, especially. For the most part, I think I’m going to really scrappy. I am using a consistent fabric for my large centers and after seeing yours, I think I might go get another dark color that will separate my scraps from my background. I think it would be a good way to anchor it.

As I was watching this tutorial I began remembering how my grandmother cut her fabric, got it all organized and sewed it together. She did everything from her chair in front of the tv! She had a template, that she made from cardboard for the pieces that she then traced on to the fabric. Then she cut the piece out using her scissors ( I don't think rotary cutters existed then). Next she had a threaded needle that she would run through the center of the fabric on according to what piece it was in the pattern. This way all the similar pieces were in a pile that she could pull from, but they were "contained" so the speak. Once everything was cut out she removed the needles from the thread and as she needed a piece of fabric she just pulled off the top of the cut fabric pieces and hand pieced the entire quilt. The entire quilt was pieced from that chair! She then sent it out to be hand quilted. Thank you again - this video brought back so many wonderful memories!

Love your show, Love your fabrics Love your beautiful hair 😊… Mr. Kitty wants to be a star 🌟 LOL
a faster way than pinning is to lay your second row onto your first row… then pickup top to bottom (with row 1 & 2 ~ right sides together). Then place the 3rd row top to bottom behind your pile (which is row 1 & 2) the trick is to keep track of you first two rows sewing side, which is the right side, mark that side with a pin. Pick up all rows, top to bottom placing underneath pile. Chain sew! 😮😅

Thank you for showing how you are pressing your seams for each block. I was going to do a random scrappy version of this with any color goes. However, I have been cutting squares for a scrappy purple Arkansas Crossroads. Since I have already made a truly scrappy Arkansas Crossroads, I am seriously considering using the scrappy purple squares to make this quilt with a gray as my accent and a cream Grunge Hits the Spot with gray dots for the "white". The gray is Shadow Play in either a medium or dark gray. I still have to decide on which gray depending on how dominant my darker purples will be. Thank you for this sew along.

I’m doing a very scrappy quilt….taking all my scraps from the last 30 years of quilting. Very much out of the norm for me but my hubby has encouraged me to just go crazy.
I have 969 squares cut out, in a race for time as I have hand surgery on Wednesday and will not be able to use a rotary cutter for 8 weeks !

Corey! Thanks so much for sharing your approach. I had originally thought of doing some strip piecing for parts of the blocks. However, your approached has helped me realize that pressing direction is going to become an issue if I don’t plan a bit more. Accent I am using is same as yours but from Sherri and Chelsi Emma collection with little leaf on it. .
