I LOVE it! I want to make Christmas quilts for the grandson’s beds at our home. These would be perfect! I could add stars to the tops and maybe add either a row of presents or their names to the bottoms. Oh how fun this will be! Thank you Corey! I have plenty of time for Christmas of 2025 to get these done too. No real rush since the baby just turned 2. We want to make them these fun loft beds and make it look like rustic cabins. These will be the perfect look for what I want in there! And yes, I am one of those people who haven’t finished the Irish chain yet but, I will! Let’s do another sew along. It is so fun to see everyone’s projects!
Cory I do LOVE your StarBerry line of fabric, so beautiful. Tree Quilt is so cute. I agree I think it needs a star on top. Maybe a border and on the top border put a star in the center.
Thanks for a great idea to use up scraps. I enjoyed watching your mental vision and process. This tree turned out so cute. If I had that top, I would put a Cuddle type backing for a cozy winter lap blanket. Your general idea can work for so many log cabin designs-- great scrap buster.
Very interesting to see your through process. Your blocks turned out pretty. I appreciate you taking time to explain to us how you made the pattern. Thanks
What a fascinating video full of ideas for us to try. Instead of 2 1/2" strips I would use 1 1/2" strips to see how it would turn out . I need the size smaller than the 51" for a wall hanging so 35`' is more practical for me and yes in my case a star at the top is a must. Thank you for showing this and being honest about how it turned out different to what you expected. It's so encouraging to us to see that you can work with what ever direction it decides to go.
I love it! Not that I have scraps in length but would be prepared to make up. Love the idea but would prefer a planned project agenda. Many thanks. 😍😍💖💖
I love log cabin quilts and I love Starberry fabric- it’s a win-win!! I’m thinking that after we complete the cuddle up sampler sew along, I could use the scraps (plus maybe a jelly roll) to make this fun scrappy Christmas tree. Thanks for a great idea to use us leftovers!!
😊 thank you for sharing your experience with us and sharing your ideas I do like your tree 🌲 I can see where you put a lot of thought into the cutting in sizing Thank you for all of your hard work I would be up for a sew along scrappy tree 🌲 I have always enjoyed the process of scrappy versus planned 😊
Thank you for the video..... It contains a multitude of information for planning and adjusting blocks for an adorable quilt. Agree with another commenter that gold or yellow bits interspersed in the color blocks would be a nice addition, plus the star on top. Thanks again 😊👍
I really liked the pattern you showed! I love the use of a log cabins to make a Christmas tree quilt. I loved going along with your brainstorming. I would LOVE to make one, but I would prefer it to really have that log cabin look. I am obsessed with log cabin quilts. I have only ever made one log cabin quilt and want to make more and I love the look of this Christmas tree log cabin quilt!!! Thanks for this fun video. I really enjoyed it!
This was a fun video to watch, seeing your process in action. This is one reason I prefer your patterns over other designers; I feel like you really think about all the angles. I’m thankful for people like you who do the hard work! 🤩
When you were worrying about the seams and such, I was just smiling inside. I've made this kind of quilt before and I knew you'd come to this conclusion. (I've made mine with 2" leftover strips - as I have bags of them). As you concluded, the log cabin effect is pretty much lost. However your tree is pretty in the end. Nice job, if a lot of unnecessary work to make sure you have a couple of fabrics in each piece. Oh - I've started on my Cat - from Purry Cats or whatever they are called - and it is adorable! I've made one - but cut out the next 12. I'm doing them all in different fabrics so the first thing I had to do was figure out what pieces were in one block! It's going to be so cute - I mean, the quilt- the block was adorable which is why I bought it! I come from a family of cat lovers. Thanks for featuring that pattern in June at such a great price!
I love this! I would probably do it a little more controlled to get the log cabin look. Maybe have the strips be all one color, but different prints. The log cabin look is was what attracted me to the video. ♥️♥️♥️
Sometimes our experiments come out so different than what we think they will be. It's always worth it though. I've had several unplanned "happy" ones as well as some duds. Personally I think nearly anything in your Starberry line would look amazing. It's now my favorite collection. ❤️
This was a *great* video. I’ve watched it twice and I’m sure I’ll watch it again. So fun to see the process and to see the way things don’t always go as planned. I definitely want to make this so if you do a casual quilt along that would be marvellous. Also: love Quilty math!
This video was So Much Fun!! I enjoy watching the whole process of having an idea, getting it in paper, and how you just make adjustments along the way to make it what you want it to be. Doing a scrappy log cabin would be fun also- I’d love to sew along! Thank you for taking the time to put this video together to share and show the process.
I like that it's scrappy but it was with a pattern. I'm always so very uncertain about scrappy that I've never tried it, but making it a log cabin makes sense in my mind.
I cannot express how much this video inspired me! I recently organized my sewing room and was amazed by my stash! This would be a good way to put them to use! Thank you sharing! ❤
Corey, what a fun idea. I love log cabin blocks and this would be so fun to try. I have a Christmas (some non-traditional colors) jelly roll that I have had for a long time not knowing what to use it for because of the colors in it…..reds and greens of course, but some pinks and blues thrown in along with some other odd non0Christmas colors, olive greens along with Christmas greens….just odd combinations. Whatever was I thinking because every time I get it out to use it for a Christmas “something”, it never gets chosen to be a project. It might work for this. Thanks for sharing your “vision” with us on this one. Yes, you don’t really need to know all that you did, but also knowing it because you recorded it and shared it, it is still helpful information whether we used your information or not. Love hearing how you think through stuff. Thanks for another great video!
This was a very interesting technique. Like you, Corey, I had thought it would look more log cabin, but I like the scrappy look. By the time I get done with my. Cuddle Up Sampler and I’m also making the holiday Woolly quilt, I would have a fair amount of scraps left. I’m also struggling to find a way to decide how to organize my scraps, and I’m kind of leaning toward cutting small scraps into 2 1/2” sqs., and larger pieces into 2 1/2” strips, and keeping leftover FQ's together. So far I’m doing that by collection or designer. So this is a technique would work well for that system. Thanks you so much for sharing all this. Sometimes it really helps a thought process to say it all out loud.
This is fun! I loved watching you walk us through your process. It’s such a cute idea. I have the urge to rip open a jelly roll, but I have to go to work. 😂
You could also include presents under the tree! Love the star on top idea too. Great pattern and thankful for designers like you :) You do all the thinking and we get to enjoy to fruits of your labor. Thanks Corey.
I truly enjoy watching you. I'm always glad to have someone else to the math. I know when I get one of your patterns that it is perfect. That my project will come out perfect.
Wonderful to hear your planning, thinking sewing, rethinking, sewing, and satisfied after you revilsions! It looks great. I might make the red star and then applique it in place, too. I ❤ 🎄 Thanks, Corey for sharing your true self with us!
Absolutely loved hearing your thoughts as you planned and worked on this quilt. As a novice quilter, it was so helpful. Loved how the quilt top turned out and your suggestions for completing it. Thank you!
That quilt actually ended up being quite beautiful! Don't you think a yellow star would look better? Nonetheless, I hope you will share it with us after you bind and quilt it.
Great video! I am happy to see that an expert like Corey can still be surprised at how a project turns out. 😻. I love the Starberry fabric. I have purchased it 3 times now. LOL
I truly enjoyed your process making this beautiful Christmas Tree from scrappy stripped log cabins. Yes I would love to make a Scrappy Stripped Log Cabin Quilt Along. Love the way your brain works. I would never have thought of this. Super pretty!😍
LOVED this format! Including your thoughts and steps was really enlightening. I typically shy away from jelly rolls but this would definitely be a great sew along I would enjoy. Adding EQ was great as well. Thank you for doing this channel.
Love this method of sewing various strip sizes and then cut them up in the log cabin sizes. I'd add a pieced star and work around that to fit in with log cabin background. Oh more quilt ideas that I want to do.❤❤❤❤
A very cute project, I am always amazed at the way a designers brain breaks down how to construct a pattern then figure out the size pieces need to be cut.. I am also very jealous of anyone who can randomly sew scrappy pieces together and make a beautiful block..cannot tell a lie I always look at what colours the designer has used and follow that pallet. Although I am pretty happy with my Irish Chain, still haven’t put it together but will this fall 🤞🤞 enjoy your weekend
Oh my goodness what a wonderful video! Thank you for taking us along on this ride. I love this quilt! I would be so pleased to do a scrappy Christmas Tree sew along with this. I also was wondering if you would be willing to share your “math” sheets with us as a base upon which to build. Your ideas, planning style, fabric creations and choices strike such a chord with me. You are truly an amazing woman and artist. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us. ❤
Here goes my 2 cents😅 It would be real cute to put some yellow/gold bits into your patchwork. Then add a gold star on top…because the yellow bits would be like ornaments! Maybe even break up the patchiness? Just my brain adding more work. Lol😂🎉
I just started quilting this year and I like the idea of something that I can add to over time as I gather scraps. Very fun to watch you think through it. 🌷
Hi Corey! Truly appreciate how you show your process with your quilting tips and tricks. It is great to learn the ins and outs designers use. Especially as a new publisher of quilt patterns myself. Confirms my thought process and helps me feel more confident as a designer. Appreciate you! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks so much for this GREAT scrappy idea, Corey, it’s terrific! Although it was a HUGE undertaking, I loved doing the Scrappy Irish Chain quilt. I finished it last year and gifted it to a friend, who loves it. And I love it every time the photo pops up on my screensaver!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! So kind of you to share your process. I am pitiful with the math part and your instructions are very helpful. I would love a SAL❤
Oh do I have a scrap bin that would love this project! Thank you Corey for the motivation. I also think an impromptu scrappy log cabin session would be fun. (I am still working on my Scrappy Irish Chain, in the middle of other projects). 🧵
Log cabin blocks are one of my favorites & this is such a fun approach to them! I already have 2 finished quilt tops in Starberry & am working on the Cuddle Up Sampler as well so maybe I would need to dig in my stash for this one! I went back and watched your Starberry trunk show to get some quilting ideas & saw the wooly 🐑 tote bag behind you. I had forgotten about that 😊 I'm in the "you can never have too many tote bags" camp so I've added that to my To Make list!
I love this! Checked out my stash and found a jelly roll of your holliberry. I'm going to u use it. The tree does need a star and I may add a few presents. Thanks for your inspirations.
I love this quilt! Two favorites of mine are log cabin & tree blocks so very happy to see them combined into a scrappy layout! Did I mention I love scrappy too?? Thanks Corey for teaching us wonderful projects!❤❤❤
Great idea. I received a bundle of 2 1/2 by 21 strips in a swag bag and have been looking for years for a project. It is Christmas batiks which I think might be great for this tree quilt. Love the tree and the idea of a scrappy look. I honestly struggle with scrappy so I will need to control it…just a bit. I think it will have a more “log cabin” look if all the greens were sewn together, and all the reds…etc then the actual logs would be scrappy green, scrappy red, scrappy black and would read as a log cabin block. That much scrappy I can handle😊. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to your weekly video.
Turned out so cute! Could easily turn into a jelly roll race. Loved listening to all the math! Exactly what I do…. I love the math! Thank you for always sharing your beautiful quilt patterns!!!!
Perfect timing for this video. I am finishing sorting through my scrap bins this week. I would love to do a scrappy log cabin sew along ☺️. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
What a great idea and it turned out beautiful! For the darker blocks, do you think that it would look more like a log cabin if you had used a solid or a same color 2.5 block for the center of those only? What an interesting idea for a quilt! I do think a sew along would be a great idea too. Thanks for your work on planning this quilt and thanks for showing all the work to get to the quilt.
It’s now a scrappy tree! Maybe if you see the strips together by color-still scrappy but one color per strip then each log would be one color and might show better. Now I want to try it!
I LOVE it! I want to make Christmas quilts for the grandson’s beds at our home. These would be perfect! Glad you enjoyed it!

You are so welcome!...thanks so much!
Thank you for the video..... It contains a multitude of information for planning and adjusting blocks for an adorable quilt. Agree with another commenter that gold or yellow bits interspersed in the color blocks would be a nice addition, plus the star on top. Thanks again 😊👍
There are so many fun ways you could personalize these blocks!
Really enjoyed watching your process. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Forgot to say in my other comment, I would love a log cabin sew along!
I love this quilt. Absolutely beautiful!

This turned out so cute! ❤
This was super cool to see the process! It turns out even a designer doesn’t always have it turn out like you though.
This is great Corey. You are blessed and we are blessed that you are showing us about quilting.
This was a fun project to work on!...I'm glad you enjoyed watching Jeni. =)

This sounds like something I NEED to do! Love the "scrapiness" of it and how fun it would be. Definitely on my list for this year!

This is a great project - I really enjoyed learning about your process! Thank you so much for sharing!
Just started watching and i already love this!!!
Always fun to jump in & go for it! Thank you for taking us along on the journey.

I love impromptu anything…sometimes the less planning, the more interesting a project can turn out. Thanks 😊
Wow, what a fabulous tree. It's worth the effort. Stunning. ❤❤
I would love a sew along for this. It’s so adorable! It’s one of my favorite designs I’ve seen in a while now ❤
I love it!! I would have done the patchwork only within each color to save the log cabin look though.
Oh my goodness what a wonderful video! Thank you for taking us along on this ride. I love this quilt! I would be so pleased to do a scrappy Christmas Tree sew along with this. These scrappy blocks have been so much fun!
Fabulous! Was looking for a new Xmas quilt idea I love this concept
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! So kind of you to share your process. I am pitiful with the math part and your instructions are very helpful. I would love a SAL❤
Love the idea of making the long scrappy strips. I think I will try it using all the same color for each strip. Love how you made the corners. Pretty
What a fun video! Thanks, Corey! Lol, now, I have to order a Starberry Jelly Roll! I do love the idea of doing any log cabin pattern in this method!
I love it!❤
Love this video Corey, you are so talented and love how you give us all these idea!
Looks like an interesting way to do a block! I love the end result!!!
I love it. It looks great! Even though the log cabin block was lost in the center, it still looks great!
Oh do I have a scrap bin that would love this project! Thank you Corey for the motivation.
I also think an impromptu scrappy log cabin session would be fun. (I am still working on my Scrappy Irish Chain, in the middle of other projects). 🧵
I loved this. I would love a sew along

Thanks for sharing your process! It is a fun quilt, love the scrappy!
This is such a great idea, and it was so much fun to watch the process! Thank you for sharing!!
What a fun Christmas tree. I'm sure the strawberry fabric is selling out. It's a great shade of red
I love this quilt! Two favorites of mine are log cabin & tree blocks so very happy to see them combined into a scrappy layout! Did I mention I love scrappy too?? Thanks Corey for teaching us wonderful projects!❤❤❤
Thank you Corey. I love the ideas you come up with and appreciate that you include us. Love this!
Great idea. I received a bundle of 2 1/2 by 21 strips in a swag bag and have been looking for years for a project. It is Christmas batiks which I think might be great for this tree quilt. Just need to find a coordinating low volume or use the yardage of the white on white of Beautiful Day I have. Hmmm the wheels are turning.
Love the tree and the idea of a scrappy look. I honestly struggle with scrappy so I will need to control it…just a bit. Wonderful Corey! Wonderful to see the process!
Your tree looks great! The experiment is a success.
I love it.
Thanks Gwen!
Turned out so cute! Could easily turn into a jelly roll race.
Loved listening to all the math! Exactly what I do…. I love the math!
Thank you for always sharing your beautiful quilt patterns!!!!
I think the math part is fun too. Not everyone does! =)
Perfect timing for this video. I am finishing sorting through my scrap bins this week. I would love to do a scrappy log cabin sew along ☺️. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
This is so fun! I love the star-berry fabrics.....
So much fun. Gkad you did all the work, lol. A scrappy tutorial wouk be a fun sew along. TFS
Really enjoyed watching you plan this out. I always learn something from you 😀
I am TOTALLY going to my quilt shop on Monday.... gorgeous
What a fun project! I don't really card for scrappy quilts, but love this one in the same line for the tree. Thanks Corey!
It’s now a scrappy tree! Maybe if you see the strips together by color-still scrappy but one color per strip then each log would be one color and might show better. Now I want to try it!
