I've always had an affinity for cub characters since my early childhood, shows like what you'd see on Nick Jr and Gnoggin where of my interest back when I was 6. Brother Bear, Franklin had a fox character and other shows from that era.
Frozen is pretty niche in appeal, its target demo is little girls, while zootopia is targeted towards all audiences, and furries, so it makes sense that zootopia has stuck around so long.
@@donutchan8114 Maybe Frozen it targeted towards little girls but they still got so much money out of it. Everybody was talking about that movie when it came out. So it's not that niche.
People are so afraid of being associated with being a furry that they just outright deny the amazing art the most "furry" media produces, if loving world's like this makes me a "weird furry" then you know what? I am!
The fact that ppl diss on genuinely well-done works of art just bc its "furry" makes me sad. I'll admit there's some vEry weird ppl in the furry community that make things weird but that's literally any community ever. So glad to have Saber backing us up there. Can't wait to have more Zootopia content! :)
It’s just easier to for those kind of people to make fun of furries, mainly due to furries not being as accepted as, for example, the anime community. Also due to furries only ever receiving attention when a really bad actor in the community is exposed.
Fr. Like the anthropomorphic style gives you leeway to do some absolutely awesome animations and visual effects and tell stories/make characters you couldn't otherwise!
I make fun of them because I used to be apart of such a drama drenched, toxic community. They're absurdly horny at all times, and for someone who is ace, it's incredibly uncomfortable trying to engage with them. I'll stan zootopia. I won't stan such an annoying, clique orientated, driveling community of overly-suggestive degens. Some of them I still stay in touch with, because they were the only diamonds in the rough who were normal and liked talking about normal things without it somehow going off the deep end into furry territory. They knew what it meant to be a grown up/adult.
You're a furry if you like anthro _just because it's anthro,_ rather than for the plot, characters, dialog, or any other aspect that makes a good movie. I'm 95% convinced that Saber is over this line, but not 100%.
@@Tevildo not necessarily..? I like anthro characters but I don't engage in the furry community and don't consider myself one I believe all furries are anthro likers but not all anthro likers are furries I think it's just a means of engagement and/or just simply identifying as one
@@roguishwretches Well, it's certainly possible to be a furry without being part of the furry community, especially considering how political it's become recently. But I would still say that someone who likes anthro characters _per se,_ rather than liking a few comics or movies that happen to have anthro characters, is still a furry. I'd be interested to hear your definition of "furry", and, if it's not too personal a question, why you don't consider yourself to meet that definition.
@@Tevildo some people just like anthro characters in a completely uncomplicated way, it doesnt have to be this "definitely furry" or "definitely not" thing youre tryna pull similarly, just because someone likes mlp doesnt mean theyre a brony, they just like the show and its characters, the label just exists for people who consider themselves a little beyond a casual fan
Honestly, I wanted a Zootopia show since the movie came out, but I was expecting/hoping for a cop drama. Something still starring Judy and Nick, but also having the rest of the police force as major characters. That said, Zootopia+ satisfied that desire big time. Hope we see more someday.
LOVED Z+. It makes me want a Zootopia 2 immediately. I'll have to say my favorites was Mr. Big's episode (it showed why the Polar Bears are loyal to him), Clawhauser's, and Sam's episode.
my favourite episode was hands-down "The Godfather of the Bride". I really laughed at the jokes, the moral was incredibly wholesome and it was nice to know how Little Rodentia was involved.
Zootopia+ is like an slice-of-life anthology series. And possible one of the best ones ever made. Really loved how they handled a lot of the most loved and recurrent characters in the movie and still preserving the movie style even years later.
I had a lot of fun with this mini series. I had some genuine laughs, I love the world building, and today I learned Saber is all about the Zootopia ships. Love it
2:45 YES! YES! YES! To your "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" idea with Nick and Judy! That's exactly what a lot of us want to see too! Seeing Nick interacting with Judy's large family like that would be hilarious! And a million times YES to knowing you're a shipper too Saberspark! That's awesome! :D
I will never forget what Judy Hopps did for me during my Disney World visit, a birthday letter she got out of the parade float, lots of kisses and she loved being stroked on the head (you can imagine how fluffy she was). I am convinced that those who play her and Nick Wilde at the parks get a HUGE morale boost because they are so popular and full of energy. I have been feeling quite guilty I didn't give Nick much attention and I'm determined to return and give him the attention he deserves.

It was great seeing the animals of Zootopia again and Mr. Big's episode was hands down my favorite. Fun Fact: Despite being the founder of Little Rodentia, shrews aren't actually rodents. They're a part of the Eulipotyphla family, an order of small, insectivorous mammals that also includes hedgehogs, moles and solenodons. Guess that rhino was just dumb, racist or both.
Judy and nick uhhhh dating but then everyone gonna be like “but yall 2 different species omg” and then at the end everyone accepts different animals dating and bogo and clauhauser make out
@@banned2911 Eh, no thanks. That plot has been explored so many times in various fanfictions that it just feels tired to me. I would prefer something more unique TBH.
@@jeffreymodesitt3345 what about instead the whole zoo world is actually run by humans, and all this time the animals didn’t know, and maybe like the humans experimented on these animals to make them somewhat human hybrids, and maybe the plot could be based around if they need to escape their year long imprisonment, or better yet, try to co-operate with the humans on living aside with them, it sounds insane but I think it’s crazy enough to make sense for the world building!
@@awesomeaustenkitty eh, that rubs me more like bad fan fiction than a serious continuation of the story. My ideal Z2 would focus on Nick’s past and connections to the criminal underworld, with the main villain being a former “partner” of his and a subplot of him coming to terms with who he is now and his feelings for Judy.
@@jeffreymodesitt3345 well if you think my old theory is a bad fan fiction then honestly I don’t think it’s possible to actually make a GOOD Zootopia sequel, perhaps it’s better off as it’s own thing of it’s own movie.
Hearing that you watched Zootopia+ with ACRacebest is awesome. That's so cool to hear that you two are still best buddies and watched this together six years after the movie. I ship you two as much as Bogo and Clawhauser lmao
I was disappointed because none of the shorts would focus on Nick and Judy, but I binged it yesterday and i LOVED IT I’ve always just loved the world building and visuals, so my favorite was The Godfather backstory and also it was so great how they arranged all the stories to fit within the movie!!! BRILLIANT!!!!!!
This is a good example how the format matters for audience acceptance. Like if this was Zootopia 2 I'd probably be disappointed, but as shorts? Totally fine.
Awesome review Saberspark, as for my opinion on the Miniseries and shorts they were both funny and cute with _Dinner Rush_ and _Grandfather of the Bride_ being my favorites from the 6 shorts. However I expected more shorts and to be longer, because I really think that Walt Disney Animation Studios should just have *THIS* and their later Disney+ series to be long-form over short-form miniseries if you ask me, fortunately the upcoming _Tiana_ and _Moana_ series will be their first long-form series. Secondly think we need a sequel to _Zootopia_ just to see more of Nick & Judy and the rest of the world-building of Zootopia and wetherare there Birds and Reptiles live in this universe but in a different area away from Zootopia. 9:33 - Lastly, I don't think you missed a short, as the series only had 6 shorts in total so you actually did covered most of them.
i have been here for years and I have loved seeing sabers evolution from "I'm not a furry, guys" to "I like anthros" and "I'm selling a plush of what is essentially my fursona" personally? i estimate the transformation will be complete this summer. before this time next year, at least.
It may not be Zootopia 2 but this was super nice to see and have. It has everything a sequel should have without having you having to sit down and watch a movie.
I loved Mr. Big's story. It was inspirational. Really liked the way they handled it too. It was also cool how you found out the relationship between them and the polar bears .
Everyone that ever watched Zootopia ships Judy and Nick. I mean for Christ's sake half the movie is Nick giving her bedroom eyes. Also I want more of Fabienne Growley from the news. She's cute as hell
i don't, i don't even know why i just liked the idea that they became close friends better than the "two main characters of opposite genders get together at the end" trope
I loved the little details in the show. One thing I vividly remember noticing was that Duke Weaselton put on the same crown and robe Prince John from the Disney Robin Hood wore. It even doesn’t fit his head quite right.
I completely fell in love with Zootopia when it came out. It’s probably the new age Disney film that I’ve rewatched the most. I loved the mature themes, the world building and the characters. And yes, totally ship Judy with Nick. ❤
I think this series has a potential to not just intertwine with the movie's continuity, but to also expand even more upon the universe. I want to see more world building, more characters, and more stories. The episode about Mr. Big's childhood and rise to power is my favorite episode because of that.
The Godfather episode was my favorite too. It was definitely the most rewatchable and the backstory really adds the world building. Plus, I stan for Bogo-hauser!!! Those two are cute together, and Sam is adorable as well. Can’t wait for a sequel.
Tbh, if they do a sequel, I hope that Nick and Judy DONT start dating. But they spend the whole movie realizing that they are growing closer; both of them have no idea what to do about it, acknowledge that is happening, but try really hard not to think about it cause they are on a case right now. I don't think any other movie series has really done a slow burn before now that I think about it
this is actually very greatly thought out Idea for PLOT for Sequel 👍 bcs it makes it more usable on the background of Them Undercovering the whole Criminal underground of Zootopia from what they found out in the First film .
Zootopia was a movie I remember watching as a kid and I really liked it a lot. However I gotta say that I haven’t ended up watching this new series. I guess it might be because I don’t know if I would go back willingly to watch something related to it again. It’s been 6 years you know
I really really loved this series. I ended up sitting down and just bingeing through all six episodes. I have to say, though, I was hoping we would get to see something with Gideon, so perhaps if they do more with this series, I would love to see them go into his character a bit, maybe explore his change of heart towards prey animals.
I still hope for the Nick and Judy buddy cop comedy series. It’s so simple. They can make it episodic with different crimes to solve each episode and then they can introduce an over arcing storyline it would be amazing 😻
Well if there was ever any doubt that Saber was a furry, not that I'm judging of course being a furry myself, this video just further solidifies that fact!
10:09 I've never even watched Breaking Bad and I understood the reference. It''s one of those cases where I never watched something but I get all the surface level references. Like references to Evangellion and Spielburg's bizarre Orson Welles obsession in Animaiacs and Pinky and the Brain. I didn't get the Citzen Kane references at first until I discovered "Rosebud" was the last thing Kane said before dying and the name of his sled (as seen at the start of Wakko's Wish, I get the reference now, still do not get the joke).
Here in Hungary, there is a very beloved movie called Macskafogó, or Cat City (the english title for the Dub) I think you would like it. Its old, and a bit... middle Europe in the 80s, but its a really funny and charming movie
9:50 No, you got all six. I bring this up because I have absolutely been there, having accounted for everything on a list yet somehow still thinking I forgot one.
I actually clicked on this video, remembered that my friend gave me access to their Disney+ account, binged the whole mini series, then came right back to watch this Disney, please give us a sequel movie or a tv series. I'll take anything, I'm desperate, there is so much potential to explore and I want MORE
Duke the Musical was absolute fun, it felt almost like old school comedy and a very fun musical number to plan and watch. But I loved Sam’s character, she was the most sympathetic character and the writing was excellent micro-storytelling.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one getting gay vibes from Clawhauser and Bogo, we already got lumity so who knows, maybe they can be a thing if a second season ever comes our way
totally agreed on the worldbuilding factor. one thing you'll notice in other anthro animal stories is that if they aren't scaled up to human-size like in _Beastars_ then they don't actually exist in a natural "animals as humans" world--everything is at human size to begin with and then retrofitted to the animals--lookin' at you, _Sing_
You can tell Saber was emotional with this one with the amount of f-bombs used. As Beastars was MA rated Zootopia, Zootopia+ was PG rated Beast Complex, and I am all for that.
@@beamer8907 The stigma that furries are bad and full horny, that we're all weird and worst of all, zoo**iles. There's a lot about meeting 1 bad apple from the bunch, not even on person, that leave a bad impression about everyone in the same group.
2:44 We kinda have that actually! A scrapped scene from the movie were Judy's family meets nick and mistakens him for her boyfriend. The storyboards are on youtube
I think Zootopia+ season 2 will be a bit long and like Zootopia+ season 1 Zootopia season 2 will dive into the other characters like maybe an episode about how Mayor Lionheart became mayor, or a episode about Gazelle's backstory before she became famous and why she sounds like she is a Basque, or an episode about Bellwether's time in prison or maybe an episode about what goes on in an Animal's head when they are Savage.
Judy and Nick do have a pretty intimate relationship even as close friends go. Like there doesn’t seem to be any personal space between them, so would totally buy them dating.

The cub artworks didn't come out until roughly the movie was out, of course I had zero spoilers and didn't watch the trailers before the movie came out: Nick's childhood scene hit like a gutpunch, it's different when it's a surprise.
I've always had an affinity for cub characters since my early childhood, shows like what you'd see on Nick Jr and Gnoggin where of my interest back when I was 6. Brother Bear, Franklin had a fox character and other shows from that era.
frozen was for the normies while zootopia was for the furries.
We joke about Saber being a furry, but when it comes to movies like this aren't we all the same?

The fact that ppl diss on genuinely well-done works of art just bc its "furry" makes me sad. I'll admit there's some vEry weird ppl in the furry community that make things weird but that's literally any community ever. So glad to have Saber backing us up there. Can't wait to have more Zootopia content! :)
It’s just easier to for those kind of people to make fun of furries, mainly due to furries not being as accepted as, for example, the anime community. Also due to furries only ever receiving attention when a really bad actor in the community is exposed.
Fr. Like the anthropomorphic style gives you leeway to do some absolutely awesome animations and visual effects and tell stories/make characters you couldn't otherwise!
saber spark comment section is always smart people
Furry artists have some of the best grasp of expressions, color coordination, and yes, anatomy, that I have ever seen in any art ever.

Liking anthro does not mean you are a furry. But it is funny to say so
You're a furry if you like anthro _just because it's anthro,_ rather than for the plot, characters, dialog, or any other aspect that makes a good movie. I'm 95% convinced that Saber is over this line, but not 100%.
@@Tevildo not necessarily..? I like anthro characters but I don't engage in the furry community and don't consider myself one
I believe all furries are anthro likers but not all anthro likers are furries
I think it's just a means of engagement and/or just simply identifying as one
@@Tevildo nope
@@roguishwretches Well, it's certainly possible to be a furry without being part of the furry community, especially considering how political it's become recently. But I would still say that someone who likes anthro characters _per se,_ rather than liking a few comics or movies that happen to have anthro characters, is still a furry.
I'd be interested to hear your definition of "furry", and, if it's not too personal a question, why you don't consider yourself to meet that definition.
@@Tevildo some people just like anthro characters in a completely uncomplicated way, it doesnt have to be this "definitely furry" or "definitely not" thing youre tryna pull
similarly, just because someone likes mlp doesnt mean theyre a brony, they just like the show and its characters, the label just exists for people who consider themselves a little beyond a casual fan
5:28 " these two are gay as fuck" It made me spit my drink out but i love it and it has to be true

That episode with Clawhauser and Bogo is pure furbait and no one can convince me otherwise
my favourite episode was hands-down "The Godfather of the Bride". I really laughed at the jokes, the moral was incredibly wholesome and it was nice to know how Little Rodentia was involved.
It's official. Saber has gone full furry

Love it
They're organic, that's why I think most people accept the shippings. They don't feel forced or contrived
2:45 YES! YES!

I do want to see a sequel, I loved the film! From the animation, story and world-building; I want to see how they expand on that! 🦊🐰
same expecially since I dont see them attempting to pull any agressive identity politics with it.
I think the big question to determine if Zootopia will ever have a sequel is this:
*What can possibly be a bigger/better plot than the first one had?*
Zootopia + is good, but what about cars on the road?
Cars on the road the nicest thing to be said it’s better than She Hulk.
Cars on the Road was a really fun series of shorts
I thought you were literally asking why were they driving cars 💀 I need to touch some grass
@@bearerofbadnews1375 Best way to explain the show. Cars on the road had a few good episodes but let’s just say towards the end it flatlined.
I love that series! It was nice!
04:16 - You loved Mandy too? Me too! I just immediately fell for her at her introduction. :D Just hilariously innocent yet crafty.
Isn't it ironic that Saber praised his memory for not forgetting a single episode from the top of his head but he forgot that he hasn't forgotten?
9:33 - Lastly, I don't think you missed a short, as the series only had 6 shorts in total so you actually did covered most of them.
i have been here for years and I have loved seeing sabers evolution from "I'm not a furry, guys" to "I like anthros" and "I'm selling a plush of what is essentially my fursona"
personally? i estimate the transformation will be complete this summer. before this time next year, at least.
It may not be Zootopia 2 but this was super nice to see and have. It has everything a sequel should have without having you having to sit down and watch a movie.
"Return to Zootopia" is a film on YT. It has an amazing plot. It is mostly just storyboard but still worth attention
Personally I want a Dragnet/Cops show in Zootpoia. Or even a slice of life series about life in that world.
Dude I loved Zootopia+! My favourite episode was Mr Big’s backstory and I actually almost shed a tear at that episode

The sloth short description is an indisputable proof of that. Like... The way Saber talks there xD
I mean, maybe not part of the furry fandom, but he outright said he likes anthro characters.
I was gonna say that too
At this point, I suspect Saber is to furries what Waylon Smithers is to gay men.
I don't think any other movie series has really done a slow burn before now that I think about it
I would definitely prefer that approach if they did do a sequel
i hope myself and normally don't like shiped characters, but like theses two just, perfect

bcs it makes it more usable on the background of Them Undercovering the whole Criminal underground of Zootopia from what they found out in the First film .

5:35 Oh hey, it's AC Racebest, creator of Bronies React. I've seen that exact photo somewhere before.

Glad someone loves the movie and these shorts as much as I do, cause they're SO WELL DONE AND GOOD!!
I still hope for the Nick and Judy buddy cop comedy series. It’s so simple. They can make it episodic with different crimes to solve each episode and then they can introduce an over arcing storyline it would be amazing 😻

Duke the Musical was absolute fun, it felt almost like old school comedy and a very fun musical number to plan and watch.
But I loved Sam’s character, she was the most sympathetic character and the writing was excellent micro-storytelling.
If somehow you didn’t think Saber was a furry, this might take a cake for ya.
I still really want a longer-form half-hour spinoff series though. (like what Tangled and Big Hero 6 had)

Why did Sing and even Secret Life of Pets, for god's sake, get sequels but not Zootopia? That's the biggest injustice.
You can tell Saber was emotional with this one with the amount of f-bombs used. As Beastars was MA rated Zootopia, Zootopia+ was PG rated Beast Complex, and I am all for that.
