The fact the human ringmaster communicates in growls and inhuman laughter is a nice way to show he is lower than the literal anthro animals in the movie.
Old comment I know, but I kinda understood the way he talked as sort sort of a representation of the fact that when we listen to animals we only hear growls and other such noises, so animals hearing the same when listening to us makes sense. Either way I’m surprised that Saber as an anthro “connoisseur” didn’t pick up on the fact that this choice might have meant something. Though given how the rest of the movie is I can’t blame him too much for missing it.
I figured out what was wrong with the animation: there's hardly any settling or weight. Basically, actions end far too quickly. Like at 29:15, for example, when Godzilla slams down his newspaper, the newspaper just hits the table and loses all momentum when it should've bounced up a bit from the force and fluttered back down. It seems like such a small detail, but when it's consistently a problem throughout the movie, it makes it look unfinished and clunky. I hope that this studio can figure these kinds of details out because it would make everything flow ten times better
@@cintronproductions9430 Right? I feel like they could've used something much more fitting, like Sylvian or something, not a name that will immediately break people out of the immersion of the movie

Not gonna lie. Everytime finta was talking around the human she sounded extremely fearful. Almost like there is more to their companionship than meets the eye. If they had given a backstory to her then the movie would make ten times more sense. Props to her voice actor btw
I had noticed that, between the cringing and the whip, I feel like she is obeying him out of fear more than anything else. Like, she was desperate to come up with a plan to make him happier and to take attention off of her and put it on someone else.
Honestly the voice actors are pretty good, the dialogue is just janky. Any voice actor is gonna sound weird when saying something that doesnt make much sense, or is just overall flat words without feeling to them. I do feel like Fitna's VA did the best job at making the dialogue feel smooth and at least SOMEWHAT natural sounding though!
Even Disney had me wondering the same thing. Pluto is a dog, but so is Goofy. The anthro ducks in Duckberg make sense as traditional cartoon characters, but I don't know WTF the other barely anthro "people" are who live there.
BB Wolf Theres an in universe explanation in one of the comics for Disney though. In one of the comics Donald asks why another character is going to hunt him because he’s domesticated and the other character replies with “Not you! Real ducks”. I don’t have an explanation for the other anthro characters though.
As a Pakistani American I didn’t even know an English version of this movie existed. It’s most popularly known for being in the Urdu language in Pakistan (obviously). They actually call him Donkey Raja there. I will tell you that the Urdu version is way better than the English one as it makes more sense towards the Pakistani culture. However this was a cool way for the Pakistani film industry to try something new. Also most of the Urdu videos of Donkey Raja are blocked for the U.S on TH-cam otherwise the title song has over 30 million views. Another thing: English is the official language in Pakistan and Urdu is the national language.
As a Brazilian, the scene where the potential candidates go through American Idol-like auditions was very relatable. Ironic voting is a huge deal here, and due to our electoral laws one hugely voted candidate can bring a number of less popular candidates from the same party along with him into power. So some parties choose wacky candidates who run wacky campaigns to hopefully gain a bunch of ironic votes and pave the way for less popular but politically more interesting candidates. So yeah, Pakistan and Brazil are very different, and yet much of the themes in this cartoon seemed very familiar.

You don't get it. It's the kind of corruption, conflict and nepotism where the only real difference between political parties is what guy they have for the job. Given the situation the US is in with the pandemic, maybe we need a superhero that teaches kids about germs and makes people care whether they hurt others by bringing their illnesses to work or school
I agree with almost all of these points. I think an important point that wasn't discussed was that the human ringmaster was meant to blanket represent western nations (which is why his silhouette matches that of uncle sam, despite traditional circus masters/ringmasters have a really round, short, and stout silhouette). It doesn't recover the movie but it's an important part. Also the OST is a lot better in the original language ha ha. Great video, I know it's old, but I thought I'd mention it anyways!
Something I really like about this film is how the ringmaster never speaks, it’s actually pretty cool to see how in a movie where animals take on a civilised nature, you see the other side of the coin, where humans take on a more bestial one! I’d be up for seeing something like that again, although maybe in a movie more willing to explore that.
The biggest question I have about the movie, that drove me crazy was why does Mongu have a hole going right through his left front tooth?! How did that hole get there?! What happened?! @@jobe554 Yes Pakistan has vacillated between "democratically" elected civilian leaders and military pseudo dictators for years. The elections have been rife with corruption and are seen by some as an importation from the west. Many feel the Jirga system of government is more culturally appropriate. They have had "care taker" prime ministers who hold the office juat to hand it over, and then they have had folks that were defacto military dictators, abidicate, then turn around and be key members in the new Democratic government. Add in the feelings some Pakistanis have that their government has sold them out to a greater power (US, China, etc) tou get the whole circus owner thing. Bottom line Pakistani politics are convoluted, and theilre is a lot of distrust in the process (with good reason) . This cartoon encapsulates those concepts and concerns fairly well.

The movie was really good in Urdu, not so much in English. I have watched Hollywood and Urdu movies, so I think I can judge it was really good. The potrayal of Pakistani polliticians was spot on, and the movie was a sattire of the current political situation.
@@magnetoonproductions9541 well they did. Or at least the songs should not have been translated. The puns from the movie didn't translate well and ofc the references, not everyone can get that. There is another movie legend of markhor that is better than this. You can watch the trailer on TH-cam
The character designs are very good. A lot of lower budget animated films don't know how to make FASHIONABLE anthro animals. This film does. On another note, I do wonder how much the plot got mangled in the dubbing process, because this seems like a film where trying to make it easy for English speaking kids to understand would take precedence over nuances in the OG script.
oml, as a Pakistani I can definitely say that this dub is extremely low quality. also, Pakistan as a country has had many angles to politics. while it was developing Pakistan switched sides between the USSR and the west, China multiple times, in short, for as long as the country has existed, it has used political troupes, jumps in diplomatics and so on to get the resources to survive. and here politics is just normal talk, you'll come to school and talk about politics, just for fun, regardless of corruption or not. these tiny things are seen as much more relevant to the average Pakistani viewer then someone in the US, which is not as political Also final note. I doubt the reviews on Amazon are Pakistan as Amazon is very unpopular here and you need a VPN to make most of their services work.
I got the impression that the humans represented international interference in the country's politics. As a Pakistani, do you know if that was the intention?
Imran Khan: As you are a Pakistani, I would like to know a couple things about your language and culture. Does your language, story telling and moves usually contain a lot of subtlety, nuance and double-meaning? Or is it very simply spoke, plain language, little room for interpretation and complex multiple perspectives? Is your country and culture old enough to have a large body of existing story telling and fables to use as allegory and implied sentiment? I'm wondering if there's a lot that is lost in cultural translation and unfamiliar history, or if your language doesn't have the same depth of perception, deception and nuance that English speakers expect of a story. For example, English has 20 different words for every idea, that all basically mean the same thing but slightly different at the same time, because of other stories that make those words familiar to us. And so we expect a lot of word play.
"Here in Pakistan we are very political, unlike the US which isn't nearly as political." Me (A US citizen during an election year): HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???
Not so fun fact : something extremely similar to donky Kings' political tale happened in Iran. The only difference is that we didn't get the happy ending after.
I'm not Pakistani. Only speaking as someone who grew up around a LOT of immigrants. A lot of the disconnect IS likely due to the fact that we're seeing the English translation of a film specifically about Pakistani politics and culture. They may also not have the same amounts of sociopolitical satire and criticisms in their media that we do, so what seems confusing, cliche, and heavy-handed to us isn't to them. It's good you clarified your criticisms are coming from a non-Pakistani American and that they'd likely view the movie differently.
Yeah, I'm a Pakistani-American and I didn't know what this movie was, but I instantly recognized the events and real-life figures they were satirizing. And while my 'American' side can see that it's cringy and heavy handed, my 'Pakistani' side is kind of floored by the fact that someone built a whole studio for themselves to tell the story of our political state, you know? And it doesn't feel heavy handed to me because I've literally never seen Pakistani politics addressed in an animated feature before-that's kind of groundbreaking for us! I'm rambling, but I think it's interesting as a third culture kid to see how different people interpret this movie.
Zoha Baig oh definitely fascinating! That’s why I made the comment I did. I’ve been around enough immigrants and children of immigrants to recognize the cause of some cultural disconnects. Props to the guy who made the movie. Hope he stays safe

"Washing the Clothes" is without a doubt one of the best songs I have ever heard. The wonderfully poetic lyrics beat Anaïs Mitchell's genius. The foreshadowing and dual-meanings are insanely clever, the choreography is visually stunning, and it's just an excellent number overall.
About the humana & anthros, and anthros and wild animals I think it's just "they didn't evolve to be sentient". Like wolves and dogs. They are fundamentaly the same animal, but dogs changed from wolves. But wolves still exist
This would work if evolution worked that way but it doesn't. Not at all actually, and I can confirm since I've been researching animal cognition and evolution for more than a decade. Humans aren't more evolved than other animals, they aren't more intelligent than other animals either, their intelligence is just specialised in very specific aspects, such as social and crafting aspects. For example, a palaeo community I interact with groans every time someone speculates the evolution of Dromaeosaurid dinosaurs and pictures them as completely humanoid, just with a Saurischian head. At best, a Dromaeosaurid dinosaur could have evolved ape-like intelligence if they had had the opportunity to start using their hands with opposable thumbs for manipulating objects and crafting, but their gait would remain digitigrade and their body more horizontal. A humanoid body =/= intelligence. A humanoid body =/= sentience. There's no need for you to worry about your dog or cat not being sentient because they already ARE, that's how animal eukaryotic cognition works. As a matter of fact, your dog is more specialised in understanding human languages and reading body language than a wolf is. In that aspect, they are more evolved than wolves. In a hunting aspect, they are less evolved, because wolves outperform dogs in specific cultural, physical and intellectual properties. This movie's anthropomorphic universe makes no sense, mainly because for a creature to evolve that specific type of crafting intelligence, it needs to have some sort of limbs that can manipulate objects (like hands, a beak or a trunk). I already ranted about how anatomically incorrect those donkeys' arms are, since they're completely missing the metacarpals (they deleted the hands of equines), and there's no way for them to hold things with their fingers. Just because they are vaguely humanoid doesn't mean they would be exactly like humans. Penguins walk up straight, but they don't manipulate a lot of objects. Corvids on the other hand do, but their bodies are more horizontal, yet they are sapient like humans because they use tools. Hell, an octopus is sapient like a human yet it's not even a vertebrate. You see what I'm saying? So basically, that argument about "some animals evolving more" isn't true on the basic level, and it wouldn't explain how these creatures came to be. It's just an error on their worldbuilding part, that's all.
@@godslaughter okay, I see your point, and was an interesting reading really. But that is the best I can come up with to try to make some kind of sense of a fantasy setting like this.

I still can't believe his name is actually Godzilla, isn't that copyrighted? XD
@@cintronproductions9430 Right? I feel like they could've used something much more fitting, like Sylvian or something, not a name that will immediately break people out of the immersion of the movie

@@likeporcelainanimations How does the name godzilla immediately break people of immersion? You can just tell by that iguana lizard thing’s outfit that it would either have a stupid punk name or a edgy punk name, and besides Godzilla was just a mutated lizard in the first place, or did they change his origin story? Not gonna lie. Everytime finta was talking around the human she sounded extremely fearful. Almost like there is more to their companionship than meets the eye.
If they had given a backstory to her then the movie would make ten times more sense.
Props to her voice actor btw
IIRC, Fitna is voiced by Bobbi Hartley, who also voiced Lusamine in Pokemon: Sun & Moon.

Having studied Pakistani politics this actually makes total sense.
It does?

Agreed! This movie has some really nice anthro designs.
The hole in his tooth makes me incredibly uncomfortable because I have sensitive teeth 😬
oml, as a Pakistani I can definitely say that this dub is extremely low quality. also, Pakistan as a country has had many angles to politics. while it was developing Pakistan switched sides between the USSR and the west, China multiple times, in short, for as long as the country has existed, it has used political troupes, jumps in diplomatics and so on to get the resources to survive. and here politics is just normal talk, you'll come to school and talk about politics, just for fun, regardless of corruption or not. these tiny things are seen as much more relevant to the average Pakistani viewer then someone in the US, which is not as political
Also final note. I doubt the reviews on Amazon are Pakistan as Amazon is very unpopular here and you need a VPN to make most of their services work.
I got the impression that the humans represented international interference in the country's politics. As a Pakistani, do you know if that was the intention?
that's good to know thanks
I assumed the characters are all corrupt or inept as a way to show that pakistani politicians are generally terrible.

The atrocious lip syncing doesn't help.

I wouldnt even call it an inside joke at this point 😂
@@thehillisalive Agreed, it's pretty much factual based on the mountain of evidence.
and it's okay, clearly we accept him for whatever he's into.
"Fitna dick in this ass" - Saberspark
Wait it was a joke???
@@arandomchildislonelydni *Surprised Poggers Face*
That joke really got me too.
So out of nowhere and he cracked himself up like Seth Rogan when he’s high which is always.
The ring master guy laughing and growling works because animals “talk” like that to us. Another on the nose joke/point
No
thats what i thought
Yeah I thought that was a nice detail…
It's really random but I like how sometimes his talking matches the characters' lipsinking at least once in most of these videos
I can't get past the hole in the tooth. that would be excrutiatingly painful and would likely lead to the most epic jaw infection.
It looks like Courage The Cowardly Dog
That is an interesting way of describing an infection
Cant unsee that, It hurts my brain they decided to do that to the main character.
Speak evil, hear evil, show evil. That's actually pretty clever.
Instead Of Speak no evil, we speak With Evil
So basically Simisage, Simisear and Simipour in the minds of the people who don't like Simisage, Simisear or Simipour.
Monkey:Speek no evil hear no evil see no evil
Movie:imma end this monkey hole carrier
@@BinglesP so basically Simisage, Simisear, and Simipour in everyone's minds?
I actually liked that gag, too ngl.
“Whenever George Washington beat the British, he did a breakdance on stage”
**john mulaney voice** I don’t remember that in Hamilton!
Yes John Mulaney! I love his comedy
I don't know, I have a strong feeling that at least in one stage act of Hamilton, George Washington actually did breakdance. Then again, I could be very much wrong.
Doom Changer I don’t think Washington ever breakdances but I’m fairly sure that some of the ensemble members do
@@waterlemonandfriends Okay.
It's the Goofy walking Pluto thing.
Somehow beats even Leevi and the leavings's pohjois-karjala
they certainly beat bad bunny and several other artists in his genre
Say what you will about this song, but you can't deny the instrumental is good
About the humana & anthros, and anthros and wild animals I think it's just "they didn't evolve to be sentient".
All this is so interesting.
I'm taking notes and putting it in my show.
13:25 Unrelated but jeez, how strong is that hyena? That's a fricking grizzly bear he just pushed four feet away from him like a sack of empty bottles! 😂😂😂

"Fitna looks like a Dr Seuss character"
Weird, I thought she looked like that fox from Squirrel and Hedgehog-
She looks like she enjoys being stepped on by the circus ring master
Officer Yeou aka. Fox Vixen the name of the fox girl from Squirrel and Hedgehog, don’t ask me why I know....
I thought the same thing...
@Dillon Sudduth it looks like the grinches smile
*foppish English accent*
"Ah yes, the esteemed North Korean counterpart to Dr. Seuss. Quite exquisite observation my dear boy, good show."
It's like they took two different films, one about classism with animals, another about animals going missing, mashed them together and didn't care that it never made sense.
Both movies you just described are Zootopia.
Sounds like Animal Farm x Zootopia
Speed Action except it’s horrible

Saberspark: This video is sponsored by...
Me: Let me guess, Raycon for the hundredth time in a row?
Saberspark: Underwear!
Me: I knew- wait, what?!
Im not the only one who notices that. Raycon is like the new Raid Shadow Legend. As well as Manscape & Skillshare.
Oh yeah, I remember that, yeah when Raid became a thing, Ads and sponsorships were all over the place on every video you watch.
Yeah, but Raid is utter trash, tho. I wouldn't have minded otherwise.
They had to spam ads so much to get enough suckers to make a profit.
