  • This is the second part of the story after I replaced the brake piston of the hand brake on my BMW K1100LT. BMW recommend that the brake fluid is renewed annually. This video shows how to renew the fluid in both the front and rear brakes.

    Hi Nigel, I was told by a BMW mechanic not to bleed the ABS module. I bleed the ABS module ii on my 95 K1100LT, and now I have a plunger fail. Have bleed the brakes 3 times since and still get the error code plunger fail test. Can reset the ABS no problem but when you get to 10kmh the ABS is suppose to do its self test, clunk test I call it, but mine fails. The get the alternate ABS flashing lights. Brakes work fine, but no ABS unfortunately.

    Thanks for your excellent advice. I had no rear brake on my recently purchased bike and following your video the brakes are now bled and stopping really well.

    Thank you Nigel. Have been looking for a straight forward video showing the process for doing the ABS unit for ages. Plenty out there for post 2000 models but not for those that are older.

    Thanks for the vid Nigel. I have a leaky front master cylinder too, so I have to do this job and watching you do it first was really useful

    Very nice video Nigel, much appreciated. My old K-plated LT will enjoy the same soon. If only I could say mine looks as nice & clean as yours!

    Very nice tips! Thanks.
    And funny fact: I'm just about to do the same on K1100RS (1995), that is in "pieces" over the winter break for a nice cleanup (Up here in Norway!).

      @@NigelEaland A very nice and always reliable machine.
      So far, never had and issue with it. Just normal service replacement stuff.
      And the other video that you made a couple of years ago, for the full service of the bike, has been my reference to start making them myself.
      Thanks for that too ;)

    Great video! Going off the subject slightly, I am trying to sort out a K1100 LT with a new battery, There is a brown wire coming off the motronic part above the battery, its a spade connector on the motronic but it is loose and exposed on the other end Where would this connect? Is it an earth to the battery?

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It goes to the battery negative terminal
