    Yep, I had the same issue when I changed the disc's on my bike. Had to drill each of the heads out too!

    Great and thank you very much to show us all this. I watched all you videos of all your K's. If you service anything else.... would you mind... filming this again? 🙂 Greetings from Holland. I'v got a K1100RS so warn me than if anything is a bit essential different. 🙂

    Hi Nigel, If I can afford, my advice to remove a blocked screw: first hit the head (force applied depending on the size of it, you guess...), then put a little amount of Valve girinding paste, big grain, place your allen tool in the bolt, unscrew... That way, no need to drill the screw head, it works all the time. Of course combination with heating/ shock/ paste is ideal. I've tested my RT method on the rear wheel brake disk two bolts (K75RT), which are, as you certainly know it, not the easiest ones to remove because of blocking loctite on them plus their conical shape. Chris Harris did a video on that point, did not managed and drilled... Well, I garantee my method, applied it successfully. Thanks for your videos, they're all great, have good rides, drive safe, from France, Fabrice.

      Good luck. The hardest part is changing the ABS ring. Drill carefully.

    You should use a torch on those screws for the ABS ring. Heat gun doesn’t do the job. Apply the propane torch adjacent to the tiny screws and it will enlarge the holes and melt the Locktight.

    very fine video. Can you tell us how many miles were on the rotors you changed out? Did you use BMW OEM pads throughout the life of the rotors? Thanks.

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They had about 55k miles on them and no I did not use BMW OEM. I usually buy from Motobins.

    Aligning the forks should include loosening the triple clamps to obtain proper alignment.

    I had to to change a wheel on a Ford Transit once. I struggled mightily. Turned out it had left hand threads on the near side wheel,

    To take off the ABS-ring you can use a angle grinder and cut a groove then use a flat screwdriver to unscrew the bolts.

    Hi Nigel - where did you buy the front brake discs from?

    The replacement looks different than stock with less bob-ens. Is is just as good or better?

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought them from Motobins. They are excellent and I would say better than the originals. The bike is now a pleasure to ride, no rattling and no brake snatching. The hardest part is having to swap the ABS ring and drilling the screw heads. Work slow and carefully.

    Hey Nigel do you have an instructional clip for replacing/upgrading fork springs and do the seals have to be changed as well?

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I’ve not taken the forks apart on this bike. I did a K75 many years ago and would always change the seals.

    Hi, few weeks ago I buy a car( Ford Mondeo 2009) but now central look not working. But can I cloused car by the key ( if I put in the dor, driver door)
    I don't know what I need to do, can you help me please ?
    When I buy the car everything was good

    • @NigelEaland
      @NigelEaland  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Change the battery in the key fob and it should start working. If not then I seem to remember I had to make the car recognise the fob. Get in the car, close the doors and use the key to switch on the ignition but not start. Press the close button and then the open button and the doors should lock and unlock.

    you contradict yourself when you say the disc is designed to float,then say that there should be no play in the bobbins.
    There has to be some play in the bobbins even when brand new to allow the disc to centralise between the fixed pads.
    The play on your discs doesnt look too bad,and the ones on my own K1100LT are about the same,also i find that a jack and wooden block underneath the sump is the best way of keeping the front end of the bike up.

    Common mate, Harbor freight sells a low range torque wrench for just a few quid. Get your tool box in order.

  • @michaeldobson8859
    @michaeldobson8859 ปีที่แล้ว

    Axle bolt should go in by hand or else its out of alignment. You need to get your technique fixed. Loosen those triple clamps then slide in the axle to properly align the front end.
