@giantleprechaun2350 Probably because in the US your identity, personality, should be defined by your skin colour over all else. It's a bizarre phenomenon that unfortunately seems to be spreading. In Europe its not so much skin colour as parents country of origin, religion and/or political ideology (mostly those far left and far right). Its a sad thing to see. I remember when I grew up and all my class mates liked a band with lyrics that were left anarchistic. Everyone listened to them no matter if they were liberals, conservatives or social Democrats. Personally, I believe that you can dig whatever music you want no matter your skin colour, culture, religion or political ideology. They are not necessarily connected.

To combine those two answers into the full context, the Sonic the Hedgehog series of video games has a successful series of film adaptations going. I'm 53 and was 17 in 1984. It's easy to be nostalgic, but there were a lot of problems then too, as well as fear. The Cold War was still going on, among other things.
@JPGaming349; I assume that You're referring to "arm chair Warriors",( no Ofense). I've contributed in an extremely small part on teaching "Warriors" by mentoring, trainning, leading by example, giving the Respect they'd earned and fighting at their side. I’ve actually found myself going back, and enjoying the music I didn’t like before because the new music is so bad. That’s what tells me that the new pop music is horrible, and not that I’m just getting old.
Benjamin Meyers I agree the ‘90s was definitely the beginning of the end. While there’s a good bit of music from that decade that I like there’s a lot that I can’t stand, and it was all genres of music across the board too.
Her raspy voice is absolutely amazing. And Patty is defined in a single word. CLASS. She brings me back to the absolutely magical 80's. Growing up in the Boston area, with Aerosmith, Boston, The Card, J. Geils were amazing times.
This is motivational song for the times we living through NOW!! The 80's were the best times for songs of perseverance and survival. WE were loners that were misunderstood so we had to be. It meant our lives. We are warriors FOREVER ❤️

@@chevytoo5150 From an interview Patty gave. " They had asked me not to talk about it in interviews at the time, because they didn’t want Sammy Hagar to feel like he was the second choice. It was a long time ago; I never bring it up, but people do ask me about it and there’s no reason to deny it.” So how serious was the Van Halen proposal? “Eddie was dead serious. He wanted me to join the band, and we talked about it repeatedly. I had several problems with it,” Smyth said. “I had just gotten pregnant with my daughter; I didn’t want to move to California, plus those guys were partying very hard at that time. The very last time we talked about it was after a David Letterman taping in New York; we were sitting around a table with Paul Schaeffer, Danny Kortchmar and Valerie. Eddie said he needed a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ from me so he could move on and find someone else if I wasn’t interested. When I said ‘no,’ Eddie called Sammy.”
I like the moment just before that when she makes the finger guns “Shooting at the walls of heartache…” I would have loved it if she had joined Van Halen.
All I can picture is Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors as it matches it. My favourite of the series followed by the original, New Nightmare and the 2nd one. The 4th one replaced Patricia which sucked.

Lucky you that they did that--and you can still enjoy the music they brought to you. . ..and through that, you are still connected. There is a great line in one of my favorite novels--its The Magus by John Fowles...a guy is reminiscing about a love that passed away. They are on a remote Greek island in a beautiful villa, it is night, very quiet. This is a very mysterious story and that atmosphere is strong at this point. The guy, 'the magus', lets the quiet linger, then says against the backdrop of the night."The dead live."HIs guest asks, "How?""The magus answers "By Love.."YOur parents live on through your love for them and your enjoying the music they brought to you. Nice that you loved them so much.
I don't understand, how such great music, die's out...country still going strong...rock-n-roll is just not what it used to be...15 more years, most of the genius will have died out.i started at 1967....6 years old....now we got terrible awkward sounding poetry with aggressive elevator music....I want my m-tv..!!....anyone remember "SOCK IT TO ME ? ?

Such a great thought, such a truth. The inspiration for new songs is simply foolish things mostly, once in a while something good appears, but it's rare. The way people lived in the 80's and years before was so intense and truly inspirational that's why we have such an amazing songs!
This classic peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 22nd, 1984. The song should have hit #1 and won a Grammy. That's how powerful it is. An ultimate 80's gem!
I would like to thank the late great Casey Casem for his incredible show through so many years... listening to the US billboard top 40 countdown from the 80s is my current indulgence.. This song is straight from the October 20 1984 countdown.. Patty Smyth absolutely rocks !! Its close to 4 decades now but the magic of the 80s will never quite be recaptured today.. All we have are the memories. Thank you Patty for being a part of this indescribable experience

BANG BANG, WE ARE THE WARRIOR...THE ECHIDNA WARRIORS!
I feel like a echidna warrior
yes
I can't imagine the budget for this video...and they knocked it out of the park.
Patty Smyth had POWER. She was the Warrior for sure. Like Laura Branigan and Tina Turner.
Have you heard her new album? Just as good. Queen!!
How about Suzie Quattro she was 70's 80's
And still so nowadays
Laura Branigan - a legend lost to cancer.

I'm 66 years old, the music from the 70's and 80's, will never ever get old!! Young people may say that I live in the past, no, I just know good music when I hear it.
❤❤❤ Yup
Age 72 and right there with Ya the best music and a far better nation.
my daughter complains to me that she is jealous she didn't grow up during the time that i did......with all the good bands. There aren't anymore of them !
@rnchensley I 💯 percent, agree with her!
Id take 1984 over 2020 any day. Feels like times were much simpler back then. 2020 is a scary time to be living my 20s through.
Fuck yes.
80's were the best!!!!!!
I'm 53 and was 17 in 1984. It's easy to be nostalgic, but there were a lot of problems then too, as well as fear. The Cold War was still going on, among other things.
I was 20 in 1984 the best time..
Same. I wish my 20s were in any decade but today's.
Patty is one of the greatest female vocalists ever .
being a teenager in the '80s was the best thing ever
yep
Wake Up And Live I was a teenager in the late 80s
Yes being a teenager on the 80's was awesome!!!!!!
I'm sure being a teenager in any decade is awesome lol
Being kids of the 80's were the best thing for me and my brother it was so awesome!!!😀
“I don’t make jokes, I make warriors.”

So epic! ❤💪🏾
Knuckles dropped a bar with that one
Epic ❤
@JPGaming349; I assume that You're referring to "arm chair Warriors",( no Ofense). I've contributed in an extremely small part on teaching "Warriors" by mentoring, trainning, leading by example, giving the Respect they'd earned and fighting at their side. I've also "mourned" each one that I couldn't bring home.
Take care Sir!.
@gruntusmc8922 It's just a quote from a tv show on paramount plus.
damn the 80s were good!!can we have it back please.
Stephen Lee right on
look at the 💩 we have 2day,just sad!!!and they call it music.
Go watch Through the Night by Grum, it gives hope. Also Future Cop, Electric Youth, Miami 1984, all of them Neo-80's.

My favorite female rock voice. Patty Smyth is the epitome of power and passion when she sings. She could sing the phone book and I’d buy it. Such a great song. So many memories. Thank you Patty and the boys in Scandal. 😊
What's a phone book pops? 😂
I thought for centuries that this song was sung by Pat Benatar
@@themacocko6311Patty actually hates when people mistake her for Pat Benitar. I love both of them!
I like how you mention the phone book as if it's still a thing!

The 80s were the best. I’m 46 and still only listen to 80s and 90s music. I don’t understand the pop and RB music today.
Vanessa Ketcherside mauh either
Well, you are missing the 60's and 70's. Drop the 90's.
I’ve actually found myself going back, and enjoying the music I didn’t like before because the new music is so bad. That’s what tells me that the new pop music is horrible, and not that I’m just getting old.
I actually think music started going down hill in the 90's. I'm 49 and only listen to some 60's,70's and of course the 80's my teenage years.
Benjamin Meyers I agree the ‘90s was definitely the beginning of the end. While there’s a good bit of music from that decade that I like there’s a lot that I can’t stand, and it was all genres of music across the board too.
This has always been my jam, but ever since my kid watched Knuckles, she now says this is her jam 🩵

Her raspy voice is absolutely amazing. And Patty is defined in a single word. CLASS. She brings me back to the absolutely magical 80's. Growing up in the Boston area, with Aerosmith, Boston, The Card, J. Geils were amazing times.
The Card, not the Card

Class? I can think of a thousand words that better encapsulate her. And you already used one of them: amazing.

John McEnroe is such a badass, they are perfect.
Met my wife in 84 and the music was amazing!!! Love it all!!!
Hi 👋, how are you
I met my late husband then too ❤️♉️❤️😁🕊
This is motivational song for the times we living through NOW!! The 80's were the best times for songs of perseverance and survival. WE were loners that were misunderstood so we had to be. It meant our lives. We are warriors FOREVER ❤️
This is my workout song!
not really, we had it easy in the 80s.
Agreed, I haven't thought of it till recently ,its been in my head so I punched it in and it . Wow. Shes amazing and should inspire young women to rise up. Amen I'm remaking it if I can.

I was 19 in 84. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I drove a 69 Cougar Eliminator, working in a Chevy dealership parts department. It was a Glorious time. Before cell phones and computers. The kids today have no clue what they missed.

I was 19 going on 20 in June ..1984 was the best!
AMEN Brother...
I would do anything to grow up in the 80s it seemed like a lot of fun
so where is that Cougar eliminator now?
She is absurdly beautiful. And what a voice omfg.
She was offered the lead in Van Halen when David Lee Roth left....
rumor has it her & Eddie were having an affair...
@@chevytoo5150 From an interview Patty gave.
" They had asked me not to talk about it in interviews at the time, because they didn’t want Sammy Hagar to feel like he was the second choice. It was a long time ago; I never bring it up, but people do ask me about it and there’s no reason to deny it.”
So how serious was the Van Halen proposal?

How the hell did a whiney weenie boy dickhead like McEnroe land her?

My mom loved this song, she and my dad exposed me to the most amazing music! I miss them both so much. Rip mom and dad 💖❤️
RIP Mom and Dad!!!! They taught you well... 80s music rocks!!
I don't miss mom. Dad is gonna hurt
Sorry losing one is bad enough but two sorry again
Bless them both

It's actually a reflection of society. Societies get the music, and the culture, they deserve. In our case, the '80s music was too good for us. : )
Gregg Spencer true, sadly
Such a great thought, such a truth. The inspiration for new songs is simply foolish things mostly, once in a while something good appears, but it's rare. The way people lived in the 80's and years before was so intense and truly inspirational that's why we have such an amazing songs!
