they didn't literally take their eyes, as a condition for their servitude they had to take a poison which made them blind, this was to make them inferior. Falmer themselves are still blind because they've spent 3 eras inbreeding in dark caves.

Jon: "We will get to the mages of Winterhold very soon indeed." Me: "Okay, another five episodes are garantueed to happen to start the College Of Winterhold questline"
Did...did Jon just ask Ranmir, the person grieving about Isabella, about Isabella? Jon, you need to pour more points into your Perception and Charisma.
"It's a bit embarrassing you got knocked down by that guy anyway" says Jon, after walking past 4 or 5 guys benor had just killed, good old Jon, oblivious as always
Jon, that Falmer Armour in muh-zin-sha-left is the only complete set of it you'll find in the (base) game, and it's better than the stuff you've given to Benor, so it should definetely interest you. Also, you may want to go back into the final room and pick up Grimsever from the bloodstained shelf right next to where the Centurion spawns before you next go to Riften.
Jon may i recommend AFT Mod from the nexus. Amazing follower tweaks. It allows you to change your companions behavior in combat, tell them what weapons to use, how to react when you are sneaking. All around good mod just a suggestion after seeing how Benor derped around so much.
In this episode, Jon demonstrates that not only will he rob you if you befriend him, but he'll rob your children too. Jon also gets distracted and fights some Falmor.
Men and Mer are both descended from Ehlnofey so it's sort of cannibalism if they eat each other but not really, it's kind of like a human eating a neanderthal. I'm sure most people would probably consider eating a caveman or a sapient alien cannibalism so I guess it is.
Jon, just a small FYI: if you summon something with Conjuration out of combat, you don't miss out on the experience, it just isn't applied until you enter combat with said summon. Also, even smaller FYI: the first word of Marked for Death is "KRII", not "HE"! lol
Whenever you find a dwarvin structure, just expect to spend the entire episode there, especially if you happen to find the interconnected ones that lead to the massive tunnels beneath Skyrim.
You're a little mistaken about how gaining Conjuration experience works. You're right in that you only gain experience when in combat, but you don't need to cast the spells after being seen/engaged. If you cast a conjuration spell out of combat, you gain no experience until you enter combat. The moment you enter combat, you'll gain experience for all active conjuration spells. Basically; you don't need to run forward to get the enemy's attention before summoning in order to gain experience - you'll get it either way.
Lisylis right? He wanted a mod that has more realistic lighting, then added a mod to make the high beam spell last longer, that he is constantly casting that completely washes out his surroundings. i don't get it.
I kind of get why you'd do it as a youtuber so all your viewers can see what you're doing but I really feel like it messes with the atmosphere like, a lot.
Yeah this is years later, but I absolutely cannot believe the comment section didn't give Jon grief for his comments about Winterhold. Yes, it's a crappy little ruin of a town. Yes, the people in it hate the college of magic. This is because of an accident at the mage's college that blew most of their town into the ocean, killing most of their people in the process. There's a reason the bridge to the college is mostly floating in midair, Jon - it's because magic wiped out the terra firma that once supported it.
The great collapse was caused by storms. There's no in-game evidence that the college had anything to do with them apart from the superstition of the gormless local hicks. Also, it's been 80 years. The buildings are thatched log. They could have rebuilt 80 times already.
Seeing Jon forget he can use a shield against those roly-polies to survive more than one hit while his followers made attacks was screen-shoutingly frustrating.
Can totally see the validity of the court room think my partiality to it being a class room is the implication that the Dwemer engaged in secular modes of education to further the advancement of technology
RE: Conjuration counting towards XP. You can cast spells, like conjurs and 'flesh' spells under Alteration out of combat. Once you're spotted, then the XP gets added. I've often gotten skill level ups for both Conjuration and Alteration spells I've cast before entering combat, and I get the notification just as the enemy spots me.
Jon, you can't melt down coral: coral is the sandstone exoskeleton built by various plants to form coral reefs. Edit: cannibalism is when someone eats someone else of the same race. Earthworm are cannibals because they eat other earthworms, not because the eat humans. A falmer eating an orc would arguably be cannibalism because they're both Mer (orc=orsimer), but it's like when we (homo sapiens) ate the hobbits (homo florensis), there's really no consensus. Edit edit: The orsimer aren't really related to the falmer, they just have the same forefathers, so take that into consideration.
The Orismer are related. Both races were one a species of elves, both of them were corrupted, on by daedric cannibalism, the other by dwarf poison fungi.
Windward Ruins is one of the 3 ruins you need to visit once you hit Destruction level 90, for the Destruction Master Ritual quest to get access to the Master-level spells. Also, there is a mod that'll let you rebuild Winterhold and make it look a proper town (called Winterhold Reborn), ending with you having a player house given to you at the conclusion of the mod's quests.
falmer and orcimer got corrupted by different things. the falmer were enslaved by the dwemer, the dwemer disappeared, and the falmer lived their lives in the dwemer ruins and began to evolve into the creatures you fight. orcimer got corrupted by having their leader eaten by the deadric prince boethia and shat out as an orc.
on the subject of cannibalism wood elves eat whatever they kill because they can't eat plants be it human or other elf, but the elder scrolls wiki only considers it cannibalism if they eat another elf. if an elf eats a human it is not cannibalism, if a human eats an elf it is also not cannibalism, and reverse
One quest that takes you the ruin is one of the contract-missions in the Dark Brotherhood, the ones you get from Nazir. also it has an entrance to Böackreach I think
The Falmer are sentient, they're smart enough to cast spells, make staffs, craft armor and poisons. However they do have white souls from lesser to grand, the lore reason for this has been made clear either what changed them twisted their souls or Arkey is upset with all of them collectively and removed his protection (the protection is what makes souls black so their harder to steal)
"Everything all right?" I mean, my depression is getting more severe and my job as the Dragonborn is overbearing. My companions die around me and- "Let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll? Yes!!! I just wander from place to place- "No lollygaggin'."
You missed another large chest in Mzinchaleft. If you watch from 50:15 you should see it next to the fountain. Also, it's FalmEr not FalmOr, think mErmaid. Lastly, the missing item at the end of Mzinchaleft isn't the way that you access Blackreach in the main quest, but it is one of the ways that you can get there.
Yeah, basically four of the long-houses are carbon copies of each other. The two faction capitals, Riften, Markath, and Whiterun are the only ones different.
darryshan Oh. I misread that as " the faction capitals, riften and markarth" oops. My brain decided to auto correct it. My bad. Skyrim still got 5/9 unique capital buildings.
I love that Jon plays Skyrim the way I do. I have this big goal to go and. Wait a minute I can dig through a ruin miles away for a hat? Well sign me up.
You need to get into some petty fights with low level enemies to train up your light armor. If this keeps going, all enemies will be able to one-shot you.
to answer your question about canabilism, yes a human/nord/etc eating an elf/orc/etc is considered canabalism, we find this out in an pre-order bonus for oblivion (the journal of an adventurer whose name I can't remember) states in wood elves customs when they slay an opponent in combat they have the choice to eat them and they do refer to an wood elf eating an nord as "canabalism" *note this may or may not be cannon from bethesda's veiw and I may have gotten some information wrong
so first 4 and half-ish hours of Stellaris stream and now almost 1 hour of Skyrim and according to twitter something else later too? Damn you Jon, I flpping love it :D
Jon, if it interests you, Yngol Barrow is almost directly East of Windhelm for your Coral Claw. Also, if Alchemy is your thing I recommend mixing Falmer Ear with Troll Fat and Mixing Dwarven Oil with Death Bell and Salt Pile. Without the Purity Perk mind you. Makes for decent money and Alchemy leveling. Finally, a bit of a cheat but great if at a low level. If you come across a Centurion still in its arch if you can stagger it before it leaves the arch it will be unable to move. Great target practice for leveling whatever combat skill you are using.
Actually, Jon, you don't need to be in combat at the moment you cast for conjuration spells to give experience. If you have a conjuration spell active, such as a summoned ally or a bound weapon, then you enter combat, you get the experience upon entering combat. There's no need to initiate combat before casting the spell just for experience's sake.
New MATN drinking game. Take a drink every time he says screw you or lovely. Amazed I can spell all that right in my condition right now (Thank you spellcheck XD)
I just love your commentary, mate. Haven't finished watching the video yet, but it's probably great as always! I've a tiny little question, btw. Will you be playing The Witcher 3 when you have time? It's honestly an amazing game and I'd love to watch you play it!
PhilfreezeCH He said he'd "need" to play TW1&2, but he seriously wouldn't.. I've only played TW3 & it still made perfect sense & is one of my favorite games.
You can cast conjurationspells nearby enemies before they see you. It will still count towards your conjuration skill. But without the perk silent casting in illusion, they will hear you cast it and go for you anyhow so... Do what you will :)
but Jon.... the armor was free... and and if it's better he automatically equips it.... if you're worried about carry weight just drop the stuff he won't wear....
The pedestal you found at windward ruins, is connected to a quest you get when you get to lvl 90 destruction, it's actually quite a fun quest because you have to guess from a riddle where all the various pedestals are without quest markers helping you. Completing the quest gives you the master lvl destruction spells, which although they look awesome are fairly awful damage wise (although the energy one is nice for sniping dragons, but it takes up so much mana it's only worth it if you have 100% cost reduction of casting destruction spells). Mind you, you are going down the enchanting route, so that's easily possible. In fact, If you get to a high enough lvl enchanting, you can double enchant items, so for example you could give a sword absorb health and fire damage, hitting them for loads while healing yourself. Or perhaps making both conjuration and illusion cost nothing. Master lvl illusion spells when you get to lvl 90 and do the related quest to unlock them are epic btw, you cast the fury version in a town (called mayhem), and everyone goes crazy, it's a free for all hunger games type chaos. If you've watched kingsman, think the church scene, and it's basically that with battleaxes and fireballs.
OMG Jon, you missed the best item in the entire dungeon in the room with the centurion! Grimsever (Enchanted Glass Sword) was sitting on the tables just before the lift out the dungeon. If you return it to Mjoll The Lioness in Riften you can recruit her as a companion. She is one of the best companions in the game as she is unkillable!!
Actually no the cogs are for Arniel Gane's quest which is kind of amusing. That place he found he couldn't figure out was for Master spell quest but not sure which school.
In lore, I'm not sure, but in game it definitely is cannibalism to eat another sentient race. There is a ring that lets you do just that.... if you're so inclined.
If the Star of Azura goes back to Azura, you may gain yourself a follower Nelacar is an Altmer -- Altmer in general (though not exclusively) hate the Daedra and oppose them; the Chimer split off from them and moved to Morrowind where they became Dunmer the Chimer/Dunmer hold traditional worship a few of the Daedra, Azura among them, which was why you met a Dunmer at the shrine As a Breton, your character is the descendant of a culture of "manmer" kept as second class supporting citizens by Aldmer, or the sort of proto-Altmer from a time when the Elves ruled Nirn the Aldmer feudal owners of the Early High Rock interbred with the early humans and eventually lead to the Breton race
Jon. Putting Marked for Death on your companions permanently weakens them. This is why you can't have nice things, Jon. Or companions that live for more than a couple episodes.
he has the Unofficial Skyrim Patch Marked For Death is no longer ridiculously over powered because it no longer stacks and the effects stop being permanent
Oh, that's REALLY good to know. I actually also have the Unofficial Skyrim Patch - I didn't realize it did that. Well... I'll be less paranoid about using it myself, then.
Was that a Galaxy Quest reference at 4:40? Humans aren't the same species as elves, so I'd vote no on that being considered canibalism. Thanks for the video!
Vanilla Skyrim Playthroughs put me too sleep because whatever I am watching either I have already done it or watched someone else do it. Jon is the only thing that makes this bearable
Immersive college of winter hold allows you to repair the bridge by removing an illusion from it. Probably not cannon, but in the mod it's to scare people off. You can also make someone else the leader if you don't want to be it.
Jon, Marked for Death doesn't do damage over time. It weakens enemies over time, starting with armor rating. They can even get negative armor rating as a result. This does not change on new saves and loads of the game, this is a permanent effect. The final word of the shout does the same with health. I forget what the middle one does, but you must know that YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL. Hitting an ally with Marked for Death will NEVER GO AWAY. They will forever be gimped on that playthrough as a result. This also works for respawning enemies. If you hit a dragon with it, and then it respawns, it will still have negative armor rating and the other debuffs. It it astonishingly broken. Use it wisely ;)
Jon said Benor 78 times in this part making the Benor counter at 207.
Interesting fact: Falmer are blind so they don't actually see you they use their other senses to detect you. Makes being sneaky really fun.
hardticket interesting fact: falmer are blind because they were snow elves before the dwarves took their eyes in exchange for continued existence.
But the have perception unlike Jon.
they didn't literally take their eyes, as a condition for their servitude they had to take a poison which made them blind, this was to make them inferior. Falmer themselves are still blind because they've spent 3 eras inbreeding in dark caves.

I think you can use a torch right infront of them and they still won't see you
Hey Jon, did you hear they're reforming the Dawnguard in the old fort near Riften? They hunt vampires or something.
Might consider joining up, myself.
Don't like those eyes you've got, though. They have a bad hunger to them...
We need to do something about these vampire attacks
Is that fur, coming out of your ears?
hey, you mix potions, right? think you could... brew me a Potion of Enhanced Stamina?... it's for a friend.
Jon: "We will get to the mages of Winterhold very soon indeed."
Me: "Okay, another five episodes are garantueed to happen to start the College Of Winterhold questline"
Takes him 2 to 5 episodes to do anything that he says he'd do
Ehhh....Maybe more, Jon has the "OOOO SHINY" gene after all.
The Exploding Spider i hope it takes forever because i hated the college of winterhold.
Well when I played skyrim I was with the college and all the clans/cults.
I'm still surprised that we've already been to Ivarstead at this point.
The Benor is still around! The Benor is still around!
Looks like Marked for Death no longer persists on followers, thank the Nine! =^[.]^=

fans: Jon, you're going to get Benor killed.
Jon: How dare you I am not going to get Benor killed

it was not paralysis
it was the overwhelming fear of the knowledge that no matter the pain of the fights
Jon is not going to let him get killed

Kyle Dyer that's a funny way to spell Menzelberg
I was going to say exactly that, I hope Jon read your comment
Moe Hurst you mean minecraft
I do enjoy how Jon's brain seems to be a separate entity that often has trouble communicating with him, at least when he's playing Skyrim.
Jon may i recommend AFT Mod from the nexus. Amazing follower tweaks. It allows you to change your companions behavior in combat, tell them what weapons to use, how to react when you are sneaking. All around good mod just a suggestion after seeing how Benor derped around so much.
Agree, AFT is a great mod, I would also recommend it

I think that if your dinner can write an essay on why it shouldn't be eaten, you are a cannibal.
Well I'm screwed then. Unless it's ok if it's a crappy essay.
Don't worry dude, if someone's a cannibal anyway I think they'd probably prefer there food on the brighter side.

Little neat trick Jon: you can wear a falmer helmet over circlet headpiece. Enchant them as you wish.
Benor has fallen, and he can't get up. He should have called Life Alert.
Jon: Apparently machines don't have souls.

Not strictly speaking true, the best way to power level conjuration actually is to repeatedly cast soul trap on a corpse, no combat necessary
How insensitive to the falmer, they are blind and you taunt them by asking if they can see you! The nerve of some people.
:)
Unpopular opinion: I feel like the candlelight mod makes things too bright. It's like having halogen lighting everywhere you go!

Fun little thing, before the DLC, that set of Falmer armor was the only set in the game.
falmer and orcimer got corrupted by different things. the falmer were enslaved by the dwemer, the dwemer disappeared, and the falmer lived their lives in the dwemer ruins and began to evolve into the creatures you fight. orcimer got corrupted by having their leader eaten by the deadric prince boethia and shat out as an orc.

I just love your commentary, mate. Haven't finished watching the video yet, but it's probably great as always!
I've a tiny little question, btw. Will you be playing The Witcher 3 when you have time? It's honestly an amazing game and I'd love to watch you play it!
Dude Bro so in about 7 or 8 years he might be getting to that :-)
Ha funny I was just about to suggest he play it, u beat me bro
Dude Bro that would be an amazing if he played that!
PhilfreezeCH He said he'd "need" to play TW1&2, but he seriously wouldn't.. I've only played TW3 & it still made perfect sense & is one of my favorite games.
Personally for me it is amazing for him to be playing Skyrim above all else. I don't care to be rushing forward for Witcher.
You just left the Mages College where practically every other room has enchanting tables! Dwarven spheres are resistant to slashing weapons.
Jon, you've got the best video titles in the biz.
You need to enchant Benor's weapon. He could help you a lot more for not much cost on your part.
Wasteland Warlock all compainons are
Also don't forget about Whirlwind Sprint to get to weird chests across little chasms.
wolf=wuld
he=krii
also yngols barrow can be found if you follow the road going left when leaving windhelm
Feels like you forgot you have the sanguine rose (much tougher than your frost atonach)
Frost Atronach raises his Conjuration skill, so he saves the Rose for tougher battles
oops. spoke too soon. you STILL need to get throatslicer in Fallout though...
Jon! Give Benor health potions! He'll heal himself!
Aaron Sikes i dont think they can
27:50 Benor: "Oh for...let me just do that for you."
We'll get to the college of winterhold... and judging by the pace it took us to get to ivarstead we will get there in 7 weeks!
(Including the Mondays)
Glarfle Glafson *Tuesdays*
When you got to the first bandit highwayman, the 'Broken tower' near the coast looked a lot like the treasure map.
The Cogs are for a quest from someone in the college of winterhold just so you know.
FrogRaider1 Master Conjuration spells, I think. Probably won't be a concern for some time in this playthrough.
Actually no the cogs are for Arniel Gane's quest which is kind of amusing. That place he found he couldn't figure out was for Master spell quest but not sure which school.
FrogRaider1 My mistake.
No worries I was being vague so I wouldn't spoil things for him.
"We need to Jon this place up"

In lore, I'm not sure, but in game it definitely is cannibalism to eat another sentient race.
There is a ring that lets you do just that.... if you're so inclined.
If I remember correctly, Yngol Barrow is down by Windhelm :)
If the Star of Azura goes back to Azura, you may gain yourself a follower
Nelacar is an Altmer -- Altmer in general (though not exclusively) hate the Daedra and oppose them; the Chimer split off from them and moved to Morrowind where they became Dunmer
the Chimer/Dunmer hold traditional worship a few of the Daedra, Azura among them, which was why you met a Dunmer at the shrine
As a Breton, your character is the descendant of a culture of "manmer" kept as second class supporting citizens by Aldmer, or the sort of proto-Altmer from a time when the Elves ruled Nirn
the Aldmer feudal owners of the Early High Rock interbred with the early humans and eventually lead to the Breton race
Tantrika X the chimer split from the aldmer didnt they? then where cursed by azura
Tantrika X also werent the only humans known as nedes? idk i know a bit about the lore but not alot
Jon: "... And this flipping guys not doing his job!"
Benor: "Wait... I'm getting paid?"
Jon. Putting Marked for Death on your companions permanently weakens them. This is why you can't have nice things, Jon. Or companions that live for more than a couple episodes.
Keegan Clements-Housser he downloaded a mod to make it last only a minute I think.
he has the Unofficial Skyrim Patch
Marked For Death is no longer ridiculously over powered because it no longer stacks
and the effects stop being permanent
Oh, that's REALLY good to know. I actually also have the Unofficial Skyrim Patch - I didn't realize it did that. Well... I'll be less paranoid about using it myself, then.
Yo Jon, if you loan Benor the Sanguine Rose he will summon a daedra for you during combat. Get you up to four helpers really easily.
Was that a Galaxy Quest reference at 4:40?
Humans aren't the same species as elves, so I'd vote no on that being considered canibalism.
Thanks for the video!
Followers almost always use staffs over bows if they find them or have them already they will dual wield them if they have two
Vanilla Skyrim Playthroughs put me too sleep because whatever I am watching either I have already done it or watched someone else do it. Jon is the only thing that makes this bearable
I always take the Centurion dynamo cores just to decorate my house with
Judging by D&D rules, a sentient eating another sentient is usually considered cannibalism.
Bad Request not how it works, a human eating a cow isnt canibalism
"we will get to the college today" -Jon start of the ep.
You should consider marriage with Benor. He would then be able to function as a shop an give you food and money.
Immersive college of winter hold allows you to repair the bridge by removing an illusion from it.
Probably not cannon, but in the mod it's to scare people off.
You can also make someone else the leader if you don't want to be it.
I love when video game systems randomly churn out a perfectly timed joke, like at 0:26.
You should use Sanguine Rose more often. That Dremora is vicious.
19:19 Jon: "Am I interested in Windward Ruins?"
Everyone who has ever watch one of his videos: "We're going into Windward Ruins..."
lmao
