When he called Morokei Magnus... The question "Who/what is Magnus?" should have been on the College entrance exam. The Father of Magic, the demiurge who during the creation of Mundus literally fled through the sky so hard he created a giant shining hole that became the sun. Yeah, this guy. Trapped by two college students in some bumfuck nowhere dungeon. With his staff. I feel like Benor knows more about magic than Jon does.
So, now that you're almost finished with the Mages' College quests, you should really consider switching up your armor. You might as well get some actually good armor - Glass for light or Ebony for heavy - and enchant it with one of those that give faster Magicka Regen and reduces cost of certain spells; right now you basically have a lower Armor Rating than you had in the beginning of the game, which is not exactly the way to go.
He said at the beginning of this playthrough that he is not creating any armor or weapons. He can upgrade them but not create them. So the only way he is getting glass or ebony armor is if he finds it which of course he still has a few more levels before it will be in loot chests.
He could get the perk that makes your flesh spells better when you don't wear armor. Or does the mask prevent it from working? In anyway, he should start using the flesh spells. I think he at least has the oakflesh, and could grab a better one.
Ohhh yesss, the Flesh spells is something he should be REALLY using; he's not really using anything Alteration-related which is a shame. I think he could perhaps take on the Azura's Star-quest if he used some of the better Flesh spells.
Jon you forgot to go through shalidors maze when you were exploring outside of labyrinthian, you can get a unique reward that has exelent synergy with the archmages robe, definately worth going back :)

I used the Drainspell Bow during the boss fight in my first playthrough and he couldn't do shit because I was constantly draining his magica from the other side of the room.

But i don't think i've ever seen a creator make an npc the main character of their game playthrough. it's so bloody funny to just sit back and let benor take the wheel. Anything can happen. It really revitalizes the game

Jon, you know you can now literally pick up everything, yes? Loot as much as you can, pick up the mask, put it in the chest, come back. Go to the store when you've completed the dungeon, put the mask on, take it all, take the mask off, and sell.
Hey Jon, something you might enjoy, once you get to Illusion 50, you can take Quiet Casting, rendering all spells silent when cast, not just illusion spells. I should add, Dragon Shouts count as spells. Fus Ro Dah that they don't know where it came from...
Hold down the "activate" key, while slightly out of range of actually activating dialogue with your companions, then just like Fallout tell them to pick up the item. Love the editing Jonniboi.
Now that I think about this, Jon's build is quite fits perfectly for a Dragonborn who *truly* wants to follow the Way of The Voice taught by the Greybeards
Shouting Benor down the well was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Bethesda games do always have that potential for hilarious things to happen.
Jon, if I may recommend a simple mod: "Better Dynamic Snow" on the Nexus or Steam Workshop. It applies the snow texture to all the dynamic snow the game generates - the stuff that currently just looks like vanilla frosting. It really improves these northern areas a lot.
Best thing I've found for the coffins is to cast a rune on or near them. If they're occupied, they explode instantly, and you can then generally finish the Draugr off one at a time.
you can tell him to pick it up with the "I need you to do something" command, or simply hold A when looking at him then look at the weapon and you'll be able to tell him to pick it up without menus, just make sure you are far enough away that you won't accidentally pick it up yourself
I hope at some point, the NPCs will start to go: "Oh look, it's Benor the Legandary, Slayer of Dragons, Smiter of Gods, the Hero of Skyrim...and Jon, his trusty sidekick."

Jon you should look for a barrow called Ironbind Barrow. It has a item at the end with a fiery soul trap on it. I always get it as soon as I can on a new enchanting character. It's awesome. Fire damage plus soul trap can't go wrong.

You could have gotten the headmasters robes from the first moment you entered the college. They are on a table in his room towards the back. No one seems to care if you steal and wear them early though. They also have a semi hidden effect be sure you check your magic status.
