Anyone have a link to a powerbank that can power up gopro 13? Need it for kids sports events tournaments etc so need to run it without a battery but none of my power banks seem to power it up. Shuts off after about 3 5 seconds
I'm a fellow content creators and gopro has been really pissing me off with it's over heating issue so this helped. I will try this new way! thank man and congrats on the 10k subscriber!
Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video brother. We’ve been struggling with this issue for a few months and it’s been driving us nuts!! Gonna go to best buy later today to buy this stuff!
Thanks for this video. My 10 overheats in the media mod, and sometimes without the mod on. I use an external battery at all times but didn't realize I could take the battery out. I'll try doing that. I'm sure it's the issue I'm having with overheating. You forgot to add the headache of having to remove the camera from the mount before you take the mod off. I hate that. I have a question. I use the batteries for the gopro when I have my mod on because the camera faces down a little when I plug in my battery pack cord to the mod. The cords stick out from the mod against my chest mount. I'm currently using the gopro chest mount but have the cheap amazon one you use as well. Does it not make the camera point down as much, or at all, using that cheap mount vs the gopro mount? If not, I'll go back to using that mount. I have 2 for when there's 2 of us fishing. I give my partner the cheap mount. I may need to swap them out. Thanks in advance!
I forgot to mention. I purchased a hero 10 battery door that has a hole where the usb c cord goes. This way, my door is still there, but has a way to plug in the cord for the battery pack.
Taking the battery out actually hurts run time. As long as it was fully charged and plugged in. It’s not healthy for the battery, but it will act like a minor heat sink and get hot. Could get a hunk of metal in that shape and put rubber on the end and it’ll be safe for a heat sink in the battery slot.
Recently bought these GP 11 to shoot footage for our fishing channel here in Australia. Disappointed with the issues so hopefully this helps. Thanks for the tips. Good luck with the fishing 🎣
If it works its awesome..How long do you use powerbank (instead of batteries) my friend? Did you notice problems with cam?? Me? after 45 min of fishing-recordind continuously under sun 3 of my batteries swells..😔
Hi there, does your power pack power a gopro 12, as I bought a verbatim 10,000 mah 5v 3A output, and my gp12 shows not enough power using the gp lead.. Could you show the specs of your power pack. Thanks Bob
I put mine on 1.5 V 2A 5000 mah battery pack an old one but still works, had the same problem when I used it for the first time but I solved it by just connecting your gp to the battery pack then just leave it there for around a minute before you turn it on, maybe so it can have all the power needed to the system before you can power it, hope this helps
Thank you for the tips.. also running a metal camera cage acts as a heatsink to dissipate heat .. on your power banks Suptig make 2 waterproof power banks.. Have you shared your current camera settings and have you optimized your GoPro using GoPro labs?
What type of record time do you get from the power pack? Will be trying out these solutions, I record in a car for 1-2hrs at a time and the battery being pulled out has worked so so well, just looking to buy a decent power pack that can keep the camera running for 2hrs 🙏 brilliant video
Thanks for the tips! just got my first gopro, switching from gaming content to share my love for fishing. testing the gopro 10 out, it lasted 45 minutes before overheating. getting the power cable passthrough door and an external bank. hopefully this works well. cheers!
awesome! running it off of a powerpack definitely makes a big difference. Also i think the 10 is better than my 11 personally, so good move on using a 10.
@Mr_Sve yes using a battery pack worked for sure, I've used it for atleast 3 hours in 90°+ heat and it's been fine. Gets hot but no overheating. Changing from 4k 120fps tpp, I use 4k 60fps (I think, I can confirm tomorrow) but mainly the external battery helps alot
I just use the GoPro pass through door. It has a little rubber seal where the plug goes that keeps my water resistant. It’s much more compact set up. I do want a media mod someday though.
Since you are running 2 media mods and only one mic, do you just use one audio clip for the editing process? I am running a very similar setup, and was curious as to how other content creators manage.
ive had go pro for years used them intensely for 3 to 4 years and im done, time to buy something else i think, every version has frozen, every version has overheated ... 10 years still not fixed the issue, its hot in the uk atm and im able to record for around 5 minutes before the go pro switches itself off as its started to melt, its possible to work with a camera like this
I bought everything recommended, however, when I setup with the external battery the GoPro keeps shutting off and says add battery? Is there some type of camera setting that needs to be done.
Excellent video! I got Go Pro 12 a week ago and overheats every 23 minutes. Very frustrating. Using external power bank maybe is a solution at least for some of the problems. :) Thank you!
@@barbaraanne2262 I do have a plastic case but never used it. Removed the battery and used external power bank, unfortunately still overheats!! Used in the sea yesterday and still overheats. When it reaches 23/25 mins it’s shuts down. It does excellent video I am not planning to return it but not sure how to handle the overheating problem. I have Go Pro 7 - never overheated, never ever.
You need to update it, then it should work. You can do the update from GoPros website I believe. The 11 and 12 both come updated to the version that will allow it, but the 10 came out before that software version was available. Once updated to the newest version, the 10 will run off external power
@@ckwoutdoors I think I just solved the issue. I put the battery in and plugged it in to power then removed the battery. @brandonmcburney1 I'm wondering if there is a setting in the gopro that needs to be changed when using the media mod. If you go into the settings there are settings specifically for if you're using a media mod, I just don't know if any of them control the issue you're having. Thats a new one for me..
Great video regarding Gopro overheating issues! I do a lot of dirtbike videos and use a remote battery as well. I wore out my Gopro 8 now with the 12 I have overheat issues with the internal battery. Now I will be purchasing a media mod case because of your video! My camera mounts on the chin of my helmet so a right angle USB cord may work better. Might wanna try one for your rig so its not pressing into your chest or you need to tilt the camera up a bit more.
I have a GoPro 12 and right now I'm recording a 4K 60 FPS HDR stream at home, and the camera is completely cool and hasn't turned off even once; it's been recording for over 2 hours. I've set up some cooling for it.
Thanks for the video. I am impressed about the lousy quality of gopro. They are on version 13 and they still cannot figure out basic stuff. I bought a knock-off on amazon for $69 and it does not overheat ;-)
good idee mine was working good in summer heating yes but i have no problems with it i use it when i go out on my e scooter maybe the wind helps to lower the heat
Not everyone is a snowboarder! Living in Bangkok, cold is definite not an issue. I mostly use my 11 while out on my motorcycle filming the back alleys and paths inaccessible to cars. It overheats constantly. It even died and cooked the battery while doing a 4K time lapse of a pair of nesting birds returning to feed their chicks! I think the external power is my fix. I can use the Apple cable and the Ulanzi door that only accesses the USB port. Thanks
Hello, I plugged my gopro into a power pack with no battery and recorded a video for 2hrs and my go pro was extremely hot, after watching this video I had done what you did yet it still got really hot, any ideas why? I want to do a night time lapse of the meteor shower in a couple of days but im worried my camera will overheat and I'll do damage to it
Safety Tip: when you place the battery on your harness, I suggest the use of Duct Tape to secure it. (If you flat fold your duct tape it will be easier for accessibility!
Been doing what you have for last few years. It is def easier without the camera battery in with an external battery. But they should eliminate the overheating crap by now its 2024. Make an aluminum body with fins for heat disipation like come on now. or even a easy fan attachment for dang sake ha
Yes, it makes sense that if you put an overheating camera in another plastic casing, it will stop overheating... How long clips U can record at once ??
@chceirobie yeah, *without the battery* is the keypoint you missed there though. And the only way to effectively run the camera plugged in without a battery while still keeping it water resistant is to use the media mod case. I usually run my 11(chest cam) in 5 to 10 minute intervals nonstop throughout the day, but my 10 (third person shots) stays on nonstop while im fishing. Both very rarely have issues anymore
Great tips - yes it's pretty stupid gopro has such a fundamental problem with ALL of it's cams which means it impacts ALL of it's customers....pi$$ poor engineering - and have to have pals like YOU who have EXCELLENT tips - btw ever heard of Bob Jacklin in W. my gopro hero 9 starts to overheat and shuts down/freezes after an hour or so. I've never used a battery and always powered through the media mod. This is the 3rd gopro to fail on me and will never buy again.
GoPro used to be so good. I have the 10 black mini. Ever since I updated the software to the newer version that “supports 8:3”, it won’t record no matter what I do. DO NOT GET THE LATEST UPDATE.
LOL useless information who wants to be carrying around a battery pack You couldn't even have a connected to the Grip that's the main Thing you're going to be using
@BrentsHorrorCult most fishing content creators do it exactly this way lol. Very few use a grip because how would you hold the selfie stick and fish at the same time? You wouldn't. This is very niche to fishing filming, which is why I said that.
Thank you for letting me know how bad GoPro problem is
