Thank you for talking about historical inaccuracies in historical fiction. Most people treat historical fiction like fantasy novels that have no basis in fact.

Thank you for the review! I was really curious about the historical accuracy of this one. Will probably still pick it up just to see how I like it.

Thanks for your review- think i will give the book a read for the historical era point of view but can understand your reservations.

Loved hearing your thoughts on this book as I have it on my wish list. I will definitely pick this one up and will keep in mind the lack of actual historical connection of Joan and the ravens. Also, thanks for the link regarding the documentary. Happy February Eve!

Very interesting review. I liked that you discussed the things you didn't like as well as the things you did. I was especially interested in the documentary you mentioned about the princes in the Tower - thank you so much for giving the link in the description box! I will have to check it out.

Thank you, very interesting. I just went on a search for Joan Vaux and the supposed connection to ravens and came up with nothing. I agree with you that it is unnecessary to create a raven story on a real character in history, it just confuses things as after all the Ravens at the Tower of London are well known and I wasn't sure how far back they went in history.

Interesting review, thank you. The ravens must have just been the author's 'hook'. I would be disappointed with that aspect too (I haven't read it). I suppose the best historical fiction for Henry Tudor's rise would be Philippa Gregory's The White Queen and The White Princess.

Yes - and The Red Queen is very good too!
