What a great guy . I'm sorry to say I wasn't a fan when he was in his prime but only because I was a Yamaha rider and loved hakan carlquist. But obviously David Thorpe was a tremendous man. Great interview
Best guest yet thank you.I remember being at Canada heights watching a support race and a guy crashed in front of me and he couldn’t get his bike started he kept kicking away then this rider who was watching the race jumped the fence and started it first kick it was Dave Thorpe Legend 👍
So many memories I grew up in Horsham Schoolboys (HSSC) with Dave. He was class above. My claim to fame he did pit board for me in 1981 Schoolboy British at Nantwich. He was a part of the HSSC family along with Paul Hunt, Perry Leask, Kelvin Tatum et al.....He still gives us a hug when we see him, legend.
This is brilliant!!! Only into the first 20 minutes, but just awesome. Dave sure is a great talker with a great memory. Good job Doc and Jeff. Watching you two listen to Dave speaking is like two little kids listening to a really good school teacher. Love it.
Touching on what you said at around 33 minutes Jeff, This is where the internet as much as it helps has also hurt our sport, The attendance numbers were sky high because you wanted to see what was going on as soon as you could, before your mates could in the paper the following Friday, Motocross is an addiction to a lot and you weren’t waiting while friday to get your fix
After watching this episode, I had to share it with my friend...then thought the message would be a great comment too. So here it is : "After watching the last episode with Rob Herring, I thought the guys had cracked the nut on their best episode...until this came out last night! If you haven't seen it yet, make a cuppa tea, sit back and watch on your big screen telly. It's a quality way to spend an hour." Well done to TM team; waiting in anticipation for part 2.
Amazing.. Absolutely amazing.. Dave Thorpe my hero.. Remember him racing AMCA 1978..knew then we had something special... Didn't know he was on 12k and still in school! Salute you David Thorpe🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Remember watching dave in the amca ,he stayed on the gate let them all go out of site then came through to win. Think it was a kinver auto club ,so cool
Crikey....where did that hour go!! Brilliant, look forward to parts 2 and 3 for sure. MX royalty ....i was there too back in the day...was always in awe of DTs unique lines finding smooth off line riding. Im gonna watch that Farliegh race now!!!
Another amazing interview!, I only wish it was longer.... I remember when MXA called him on their front cover "The world's fastest novice" that was probably the worst moment in motocross journalism history!, so sad and NOT true!
An absolute legend and a gentleman. Just goes to show you don't need to be brash and loud to be fast on a motocross bike. The same could be said of many motocross legends of that era. I admire the riders of today as they are insanely fast and skillful , but the riders of this era were more interesting and relatable.
Fucking great guest again you pair, the ☝ and only king david !!! I was there too, fantastic experience and I'm happy to be able to say I was there, there's only 60,000 of us who witnessed it live, lol. Anyway wob, constructive criticism aimed at you, your head fell off at 1 point and out come a load of stupid noise, I almost took an over dose, so negative mate, imo ? Plus, who am I to criticise I'm a knob-head at times too, it felt almost an awkward moment watching. GREAT CONTENT, GREAT GUESTS, GREAT PODCASTS, GREAT EVERYTHING BOYS. 🇬🇧💥🔥😎
By the time I was a kid getting into motocross Dave had already retired, but I remember as a kid watching old VHS videos my dad had of him racing 500s. Pretty sure that started the addiction to motocross
@@TorqMoto it’s sad I’ll never get to be track side at places like Nemur, which is my all time favourite track, if by some bizarre luck it ever comes back, I’ll be first one there. Even saddens me how tame Hawkstone is now compared to the 80s. Wish they’d bring some of the old features back.
@@TorqMoto yep, that’s why I’m getting off abroad Trentino, Saint Jean D’Angley & Lommel to MXGP rounds that aren’t built in a car park. Feels in the next 10 years most of the tracks will be like they are in Indonesia, just man made & boring.
when you think of two top british riders of that era it,s got to be thorpe and noyce you think you would be able to get noyceee on? his battles with lackey at the hants grand international at matchams were epic.
wobs really gotta get his stats sorted, same with the robbie herring interview he never gets owt right😂😂🤷🏽♂️ come on rob this foxhill vets jobs draining all your oldschool memorys😵💫😩😂,jokes aside, top class guests💪🏼
Always great to hear Dave talk about his racing days but please let him finish his sentences, you keep butting in with incorrect stats and trying to be funny which unfortunately comes across as a bit awkward and embarrassing! Looking forward to part 2 all the same! 👍🏼

Well thankfully we have constructive criticism to help us up our game…
Please stop having people who have written books on. It’s costing me money. 😆
