★ Why I Visited Lefarc Tannery: • How I Learned to Make ...
Thursday bucked the industry real hard when they came onto the scene in 2014 with Goodyear welted boots for under $200, so it's no surprise they'd eventually venture into the mythical world of western boots. They currently sell three models but the Desperado is their top seller and it ticks all the boxes guys want from this kind of footwear: a tall shaft, resoleable construction, ornamental stitching, a squared off toe, all with a sneaky shock absorbing footbed for comfort. Tim Steiner did this review on his pair, behold!!!

I’m a Texan, and I like Thursday’s other offerings. I’m not sure if I’d pull the trigger on the Desperados. Good on them for making this style of boot for people that might not wear cowboy boots otherwise. Tim is cute with the axe and chainsaw cosplay 😂

Ok, owned mine for a year and they were my go-to in Arizona that whole time. I put them on in the morning and took them off at night to go to bed. I've worn them on the ranch, although they weren't my first choice because I had a pair of Dan Post storm series that were more built for ranch work. I did use these horseback riding though. The sole is plenty grippy. Speaking of the sole, I had an issue with the edge coming unglued about a month in. Thursday sent me a completely new pair of replacements! They've been just fine. The smooth leather upper means I don't always wear boot socks, especially on the hotter days. Now I'm back home in NC and same thing. I'm doing yard work, gardening, turning wrenches, and they're just my daily go-to boot. They look stylish and are comfortable. They're not heavy and clunky. Still plenty of rubber left on the sole. The leather is in great condition. Because they do get beat up I have taken regular care of them with brushing and every other month conditioning them with Bick 4 distressed conditioner. I've saddle soaped em once. Brown polish along the sole edges to dress 'em back up. Oh, and I own them in their Arizona Adobe. It's just the best looking brown boot going. I'll buy them again but probably won't have to as you can get them resoled. Those flat black ones are calling my name though.

Decent review! The Desperado is my first (and likely only) foray into cowboy boots, as they're a bit of a statement for an Englishman, but I like how well they can be 'hidden', which means I have found them easy to wear without being too self conscious of looking like a cowboy-cosplayer! I've found them to be pretty comfortable once they broke in to walk in all day, but probably wouldn't use them to work in because they do run pretty hot. Great content as ever Nick!
(I was also influenced by the RA vid on the boots which definitely convinced me to go for them!)

I think for someone like me- although growing up wearing boots in Texas, I now live in Florida and do not really need my boots to withstand much abuse anymore. So that being said, I am interested in trying a pair of these desperados. Wish the insole was removable.

I quite like Thursday Boot company, but I'm unsure why you would choose them over the inexpensive offerings from western companies. And the fact that they, as western boots, don't come in wide sizing is astonishing.

    • @Stridewise

When you're ready for a pair of Western Boots you're gonna be glad TBC makes these boots and their price and quality. You guys are missing out. I have the Arizona Adobe and Old Town. I get continuous compliments on them. You got to give them a chance and know how to wear them and it's not that hard to put a fit using these boots together. Looking for a good quality Western style boot for casual wear and for hunting and fishing. Boots that'll stand up to use and weather with a little care, and a boot that'll fend off a Copperhead bite. I won't be working them to death, i have dedicated work boots, but like i said i just want some decent nice looking real leather traditionally made Western boots that'll last me a long time with some care, and that can stand up to being worn in the woods and occasional splashes in creeks and mud holes. Anybody got any input on these? My budget is $250 U.S.

I ordered the desperado boots and the quality control was the absolute worse. The white stitching had black paint on it. There was no way they should have allowed that to be sold. I ordered a second pair and it was even worse. Black paint again and the side of the sole was not painted all the way around. About a two inch gap in the front that was a lighter color than fhe rest. Then under the middle part where the stiching ended the layers were exposed and none of the sides looked the same. One had a weird glue like substance the other was missing. Im sorry if my explanations dont paint the best picture. Returning both. Also the company has no way of calling them. Emails take a day per reply. They have a text messaging service that also takes a day and they are of no help. Zero customer service.

People in the comments can talk smack about Thursday Boot Co all they want. The truth is that they make awesome boots for an awesome price. I own many of their boots and I am VERY happy with all of those purchases. I would love to try out their flight jacket too, but that is still a bit out of my price range.
I don't wear jeans wide enough for this style, so I look pretty goofy if I put them on. I do own a pair of Ariat cowboy boots which are also very good quality and comfy. I bet these Thursday ones are even better than those (quality wise).
My absolute favorite boot from Thursday is the Logger boot. Most comfy boot I've ever worn (once broken in). And the rough out Horween leather on them is superb. The only complaint I have is that the rubber heel on the bottom is too thin, but after looking at them again on their website, it seems they have fixed this issue with a thicker lugged rubber heel (underneath the leather heel stack anyway). Wish mine had that. But hey, a quick stop at the cobbler will make it all right again.
Also love my Captains with both of the outsoles they offer. Thursday is an awesome boot company and I look forward to seeing even more boot options from them in the future. Great video!

I bought the Thursday flight jacket in coffee, it almost fits like it was tailored. It's warm enough for early winter, with just enough room to add a layer. Good quality for the price.
I have the Schott racer, but I'm still considering getting a Thursday racer in a different color. The hero, jodhpurs, and high top sneakers all fit me like a glove. I don't get why people hate on this company. Sure, most of of their stuff is made in Mexico, but they have good ethics.
