One thing I have to give to Proton is their designs keep improving all the time. They're very sporty and stylish. If they can get the build quality right, these will become serious global players.
For me the rear back of Iriz has its own identity. Thus, its unique just for Proton. I like it.
It looks like a baby X50 so I think it looks quite great.

People has no requirement for Proton budget car. The most important kasih design cantik cantik, tak boleh lari pun nampak sporty, then with low peice tag, sure selling hot cake!
I really hate when there is so many black plastic attached on the exterior. Its look cheaper in quality
I dont understand why P1 dont brag about their improved CVT. Now it has new TCU, Sport mode, Dedicated Eco mode, coasting function, and NIC neutral idle control. And Automatic SAT. Should be fun to drive tho.

Hafiz, another detailed review despite not having the materials. Iriz Active looks good
Had no issue with Punch CVT during highway costing but got issue when in crawling traffic.
If Proton already solved that now it's good then. But still sceptical as it is a character from clutch base CVT.
What I very like about proton is handling 👍🏼🌟⭐About 11 years I use persona 1st model with no complaints.But now I use perodua alze due to bigger families member.I proposed to buy proton exora before but budget not in there so I buy Alza.Alza handling is just nice and I need to accept it due to families member that I have and in my budget.
This Iriz Active styling look similar to Hyundai Kona especially when you look at the front wheel plastic trim which is quit huge similar to the Kona styling. The 2014 Iriz Active concept still the best design IMHO.
The Iriz interior hasn't really aged much. If you put the updated cabin next to the Myvi's, you wouldn't know that this car is the older of the two.

If proton using Vios 1.5 dual vvti engine..this Iriz will be a new king after myvi.
I have the 2020 pre-facelift 1.6 Executive. The CVT is fine. Nothing wrong with it. We have DSG, DCT, ZF and conventional 6-speeder cars at home and the Punch CVT is absolutely fine for daily driving.

I like the refreshed front on the regular Iriz. Still don't like the rear, some jarring elements

what i heard ride height and ground clearance for active version is much higher than iriz 2019. this is due to new rim size 16" but the still using similar aspect ratio tire dimension from 15" (185/55 R15 vs 185/55R16) . also i believe Proton will make a tweak on suspension to adapt this changes.

True. Perfectly agree with you. Imagine if it's perodua iriz and proton myvi, still perodua iriz will win sales wise. It's the brands that matters. Herts mentality. Just because it's a slightly popular model everyone rushing to get it just because everyone around them is riding it. You without hesitation, without even bother to do some study first before you spend your money just because you wanna be part of the trend straight away bought it too. Honestly I didn't like the latest myvi the slightest bit! Malaysian car brand wise proton is more experienced. That's why they never make a fking big suv with just a 1.0 engine, regardless the turbo

They need to change mindset of manual for the poor and only pair it with the weaker engine. People want a high performance manual nowadays.

from others reviewer. It stated the shape still the same however with some added smokey look.
To be fair to Proton, unlikely it was possible to put AEB or active safety features now because it was afterall a 7 year old platform and was probably design not with that in mind in the first place then.
The current Myvi uses the old platform but it still could accommodate AEB. I'm sure Proton could modify the existing Iriz platform to do the same thing if they were to design a new car based on the existing architecture.
Always love our local cars upgrading themselves.

People stop buying manual because most manufacturer only offered it in the lowest spec/trim with lack of safety and convenience features. So i guess some of us are forcing to buy the auto/cvt transmission cars. Can see in UK or our neighbour Indonesia, manual still have demands because also offered in top spec model. I'm a 3 pedal fans, but sadly no more option for new car in MT nowadays in Malaysia 😒😥

Ruby red is a darker, metallic shade. Passion red much brighter, lighter, solid colour. Btw Passion red is only available on the Iriz Active.

I think Proton is trying to copy Perodua by changing Iriz’s face every once in a while much like the round Myvi to a sharp and aggressive before moving to the third generation design. But, the Iriz are still in her first generation. Here’s to see what will Proton do with the Iriz in a few years time.
Iriz Active was a concept car back fews years ago.. So they didn’t copy perodua but released their concept aka prototype car🥱🥱

iriz 2022....at least for executive version should have steering with audio control button, ASA, and blind spot monitoring system as extra features. that would be a better purchase than the upcoming myvi facelift....what a loss for 2 years of market and design research

I think the exterior design is too much. If it's 2015-2018 it's probably acceptable but I personally think people much prefer a more simple look now. Or it just me lol..but I actually waited for this release since last year and really2 disappointed. Now reconsidering the executive variant but the lack of features like control stering button and even the old audio head unit? I'm waiting for myvi face-lift by the end of the year to make comparison..but seriously really disappointed with the exterior design and all the red interior..Don't they ask other people opinion when decide with the design? And if they decide to make a different look for the active at least consider to add extra features for the executive..I don't mind paying extra rather than having to add the accessories and void the warranty

Proton should have put the exora 1.6turbo and mated it with the 5 speed manual from the 1.3 and give us the iriz GTi instead of the "active"... What were they thinking...

For me personally I prefer iriz active more than the latest myvi. I think the look of the new myvi is hideous. Plus the commercials and promotions are quite a bit over the top compared to the actual product.

Nothing special with a old technology,only upgrade for the accessories and some color changes,consumer more concerns for the engine and gearbox,not the extra accessories attached on it.

Kali ini saya akan terus memilih jenama baru ini dan proton telah kehilangan pelanggan setia, sama seperti rakan-rakan saya yang lain, yang telah lama meninggalkan proton yang sering memeningkan kepala.

Personally, it's a huge disappointment because I was waiting for the facelifted Iriz premium, but they've decided to replace it with "Active" and we all thought they would change the gearbox.
I wonder what led them into rolling out with this kind of fake SUV design. Did the Axia fake SUV design sales data is so good that they want a piece of it? Or was the Iriz premium sales so bad that they want to boost it with something totally different? Since that Iriz has its supporters mainly because of the R3, why not based on that instead of an almost similar design to Axia? Plus, it's not like Proton doesn't have any SUV in its lineup.
As a marketer, I can't agree with the "more colourful" will attract the younger crowds' kind of mindset. It's like typically assuming blue is for boys and pink is for girls. And dude, you're not a Merc AMG. With the resources they now have, I'd expect more originality and a better sense of taste (they should just hire Theophilus Chin as their consultant lol).
If only the classy design in Persona can be applied to Iriz, I'd have placed my booking. And is it just me that the Persona rims are ugly? It's just like the same design as the previous-gen of Iriz. Shame on your standards Proton design team.
Yes if they just come out with the executive design, chocolate leatherette (same as persona premium), black lined interior instead of red. Same interior features as the active -stering control button, updated audio head unit. I'll book already. But now I'm waiting for the myvi face-lift tho

Hafriz owns the previous facelift Iriz that he replaced with his Peugeot 208 GTi. Which to be honest, uglier than this. This is a step up and got a lot praises than before. If what your saying is true, he wouldn't have thought of bought one.
