    I die die bought one as well because I know for sure it will be the last "pure" Iriz that will be built. I got mine in Ocean Blue, and also did not bother with the rear spoiler.
    It is unpretentious, fun, refined and even on longer journeys it has been comfortable, refined and economical. Though those tyres must really go. I went for Michelins and it transformed the whole car.
    Over 35,000+KMs so far I averaged 5.7L/100KM when driving normally, and around 9L/100KMs for stepping on it.
    Ergonomically it is just wayyyy better than the Myvi. And if they cant even get the driving position right, why would I even bother?
    I dont need the "best seller" or binging and bonging electrical nonsense, I just want a well-engineered and fun, pure car.
    And the unfortunate fact is:
    This might be THE last, Affordable, Unpretentious, true Driver's cars available to us Malaysians.
    There will be no new car like this because it is simply not justifiable as a Business.

      There's a good reason why many consumers prefer Peroduas. Call the consumers "boring", but they simply work. They tend to get a lot of things right where Proton typically fails.
      Like QC. Sure, a sea of cheap plastics in a Perodua, but my Iriz has much more rattles than any of the current gen Peroduas I've been in, combined.
      I got myself a 2014 manual late last year(After enduring the damning CVT variant the year before). It has a lot of build quality annoyances. That being said, I enjoy every single second of driving it, especially with the manual (I can't believe it's the same car as the CVT models)
      And yeah, I'd say the seats are easily the best thing about the Iriz, especially for the long distance drives I do.
      I've driven my friend's 2018 Myvi for a brief period, and I think the seats gave me a slight backache somehow.

      @@germaineliew2012 my family got 2014 iriz too . And me myself got me an iriz in 2020 . What I can tell is the plastic quality on the new iriz is much better then the 2014 . Fit and finish not good as the audi,but it's get the job done except loose aircond knob🤣as far of rattling,mine got none,just reached 40k mileages . So far so good and hoping it will last . Yes the myvi seat gave me the backache even when test driving since I have lumbar problem . I always spend 200-300km daily for on site job . Travel in an iriz is such a pure fun joy .

    I bought a secondhand 2014 iriz manual 1.3 last year as a second car (im driving a SUV as my main daily car) as i miss driving manual for the longest time. oh man i gotta say i have no regrets doing so, eventho as Hafriz said, iriz and proton has gone a long way to reach this iteration, all the improvements, added features and so on, the 2014 iriz is still a masterpiece in its class, changed the tyres to conti cc6 and chuck it around corners and that definitely put a smile on my face after a hard week at work. but its all not sunshine and rainbows after owning this second hand first batch iriz for 6 months, due to its previous owner parking the car under the sun for so many years, the color tone of the main dashboard has started to fade (and moldy), the plastic pieces on the side aircon vent have changed from gray to green. and the plastic fitting pieces in the car have started to crumble n fallen off, which is the headunit console plastics, the gearshift leather etc. besides all this, after changing the timing belts, brake pads and all the usual service-able items including servicing the aircond, this Iriz still drives like a champ, i have driven it up genting twice and it can attack the hills effortlessly even with 2 adults on board. The joy of shifting gears manually is so engaging and i shall own a manual as long as i can too, #savethemanuals

    Hafriz pov is exactly what i feel even before i test drive the iriz active,the ride is solid and stiff but surprisingly comfy when going over bump,bodyroll was minimal as well, especially when u chuck it onto corner, personally i don't need lot of electronics and safety aids like in the myvi where 90% of the time those feature were not utilize unless you're a constant outstation person

    I currently have a 2014 1.3 Exec manual. Definitely enjoying every moment of the driving experience it provides. I've also endured a later CVT variant of the car throughout the year before. And it's kinda hard to believe that both of the cars are the same.
    However being typical of Proton, build quality is never it's strong point. Mine being an early model, it has a huge list of minor annoyances I can write a book out of.
    Although I know the later models (The one I've driven previously was a 2018) were better built, QC complaints aren't anything out of the ordinary to this day.
    I hear less rattles in any of the recent Peroduas I've been in combined compared to my car. Even my friend's 2005 Satria rattles less.
    I'd say the best part of the car are the seats. They're comfortable and great for the long distance trips I do few times a year.

    My parents handed down their 2016 1.3 CVT Exec Iriz to me for college use at 70,000 km ish. Never have I heard such praise for proton cars, "alaa it's a proton" and hyped up Produa from my college mates. Now It's at 150,000 km, I have driven throughout Selangor in many different situations was interesting to say the least. The Rpm at 2-3K cruising, 4-5K fun zone max 150-160kmh would shake. It's now starting to develop some problems mainly the transmission being jerky at low Rpm but oh well. Developed an appreciation for it later on when visiting the pits during saga racing cup meeting some of the racing teams tuning the old Saga.
    I have driven from Axia, Myvi, Alza from my college mates just to see whats the hype ended up with mmmmhh when issit gonna accelerate ah, my foot already down there, oupp there it is.

      @luqmanhakim2447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My 2018 myvi have all the problem u mentioned. No lie, the most obvious thing is plastic noise from all over the door panel. Been to sc to fix it, yet the noise keeps coming back.

    • @tkangwei
      @tkangwei 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@luqmanhakim2447 Pre-facelifted Myvi uses 4AT, CVT noise at high rpm is worse than traditional 4AT. Aggressive drivers should stay away from CVT. Proton is improving here but they still need more effort, changing or switch out the CVT could be what most consumers want.
      For Perodua, I think they can relocate some budget in making better seats. Perodua seating position is unsupportive and outright too small for most adults.

    Household been having a 2018 1.3 standard cvt since new and it might be low on kit count but it does ride and drive well. Not to mention the striking balance between seat comfort and space. Some cars (I dun wanna mention what car it is because it is the direct iriz competitor) has a world of space but the seats u know I know la.
    Fuel consumption is also ok actually. Like ofc u might say the myvi saves more fuel but then again there’s only so much u can do with a cast iron NA engine. Ask proton to make a hybrid version if u wanted to. That might not be maintenance friendly for budget car buyers in the long run so. Not everyone keeps a car for just 3 years and sells it.

    I have bought the same spec iriz with a snow white colour right before covid strikes us in 2020 January. Never regret it and have done 59000 kms, fit on 15 inch rims and a second set of tyres already. I cannot help but to put on michelin PS3 tyre, the first set of original silverstone kruizer just does not fit the car at all, handling wise. Hearing this, yes I am one of those who priorities driving dynamics. Fuel consumption on the first set of tyre was around 15km/l (80% highway) and the PS3 was around 13.5km/l (40% highway).
    When I see one of those manual iriz on the road, or at the car park, just could not hide the thrill inside of me, my mind keep screaming oh yessss, another iriz manual is here, so happy for whoever is driving it, happy for Hafriz too.
    Many have doubt my choice, and tease: what? are you kidding? why a manual ... my response: a smirk on my mouth and not a word from me. For us buying manual nowadays is like committed some kind of "crime" that most of the people could not understand. The iriz manual sales was just 3% compare to iriz other specs in year 2020. Nevermind 2021, it has been discontinued since then.
    One interesting about this generation, it has front parking sensor, reverse wiper sensor, at just RM 36k, it just feels strange.
    Complaint on the 2020 iriz:
    1) dashboard tikus sound is just randomly appeared.
    2) during night, after switch on the lights, the brightness memory of the instrument cluster, cannot be saved and each time the car restarts it goes back to standard brightness, too bright.

    Very good detailed review 👍🏻
    Such a shame how Proton tuned newer Iriz transmission in term of Speed/RPM. My 2014 Iriz 1.6 CVT does 110 km/h at only 2300 RPM. 140 km/h at 3000 RPM and 160 km/h hovering at 3600 RPM. 180 km/h at 4100 RPM.
    With that being said though, I’m very happy and satisfied with my Iriz overall. Even tho Iriz is technically my second car as I have City GM6 FL as my daily driver, but I found myself driving Iriz more often.
    Coming from Satria Neo before I change to the Iriz, I straight away feel the Iriz is not even close when it comes to ride and handling on the first drive when I got the car. Which is to be expected of course. So I’ve decided to put on Ftuned CLS and inject my absorbers to suit the shorter, harder spring rate and upgraded to Michelin pilot sport 3 tyres.
    Performance is more than good enough. Pedal to metal the Iriz 1.6 feels good. Quick acceleration. Fuel consumption is alright, I do part-time grab with my Iriz and I have no complaints at all.
    Really good car indeed. The way it drives and how good the car absorbs imperfections on the road is amazing for such a cheap car, especially on stock suspension from Proton itself. The Proton Iriz really strikes the balance between comfort and handling.

    A few factor when considering buying a new car:
    ride & handling, safety, features, fuel consumption, aftersales service, build quality, reliability, resale value n etc.
    Iriz- ride and handling, safety (HPF)
    Myvi- all of above except than ride and handling
    *If I have extra budget, definitely will go for Iriz. Been riding Proton cars, feels very confident.
    *While in Myvi (I owned FL 2022), you need put extra effort on the stereng and this will make your long drive journey a bit tired.

    During Dec 2014 , I actually booked a 1.6 Premium Manual but sadly they can't provide me a concrete answer when can I get the car as the SA keep saying "not sure" / "we will follow up for u" / "once got news , we will inform you" . If not mistaken that time they focus on 1.3 executive and 1.6 premium CVT first .
    After 3 months of uncertainty from proton , I went to book a newly launch Mazda 2 DJ and the Mazda waiting list is 2 months but one of the dealer at Muar manage to get me the car within a month . After I get my mazda for few months , finally the Proton SA called me and ask me want to reconsider the car or not as they already have the car (only in white), they can reserve for me although I took my booking fees back d.
    But yea obviously I didn't as I already bought a Mazda 2 DJ HB and it's a bloody nice car too .
    The problem with them during that time is they put too much variants on iriz and they can't fulfill it.

These 3 cars have similar characteristic : Great zippy handling, Comfortable driver and front passenger seat, small rear legroom and a hatchback. In my opinion Perodua Myvi is actually trying to go against Honda Jazz due to spacious interior and boot space and a powerful engine so comparing it to Iriz feels like apple to orange except for the price range. At the end the best Iriz is the Proton Iriz 1.6 Manual which is no longer offered and I'm too late to buy it hopefully in the future Proton will give the Iriz a Paddleshift for fullspec variant

    your car is 1.3 or 1.6?

  • @royalfinest
    @royalfinest ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I dont understand why do Malaysians prefer Myvi over Iriz. No offence to Myvi fans, but Iriz is a driver's car. This car sticks to corners like a glue due to exceptional handling, and for 1.6L it has got the power you need. My only regret is Proton dont offer manual version of 1.6L (only limited to 500 units and no more). I drive 1.3 stick btw and I got that satisfaction of driving a mechanical car everytime. Proton, pls reintroduce 1.6 manual.

      Well I can't really tell you the accurate answer for this since I don't own a Myvi, but based from lots of my friends, they choose Myvi because it's basically a Toyota but rebrand to local market, and Toyota is well known for it's reliability, saving repair cost in long term. Another thing is the safety feature, and Perodua has the edge in terms of that.

    • @ha-kyaa7815
      @ha-kyaa7815 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but keep in mind most Malaysians are not car enthusiasts,they just simply look for a cheap car with good safety,cheap service costs and good space,and the Myvi absolutely slays in that department. Ngl tho the Iriz is truly a fun one to drive,ive driven a Manual 1.3 myself

    Owning a 2022 standard iriz which does not feel standard spec at all.
    15inch alloy sport rims

    X50 style front grille with red signia
    No unpainted bumper like standard specs of old.

    Proton sepatutnya dah boleh tukar engine proton. Engine zaman purba dah tak efficient lagi. Ingat nak ambil persona premium tapi cancel. Lu pikir la sendiri proton. Buat engine macam honda 1.5 turbo yang mana boleh masuk dalam banyak model. Boleh jimat duit rnd engine. Sekadar cadangan shaja yang penting engine tu tukar pakai engine yang lagi efficient. Engine zaman tok kadok.

    Not making a hothatch or even warmhatch out of this chassis is a truly missed opportunity. Maybe some Proton official aftermarket ECU and suspension like what they did for the Neo?
    Since R3 is allegedly back in business, why not a 140hp tuning package for MT NA Iriz, instead of selling just bodykits and stickers.

    • @Akendesuu
      @Akendesuu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well some people just love to drive cars with lories size steering wheel. This car suck as a daily driver and its the icon of unreliability. This cars transmission suck and its maintenance are much more expensive compared to the myvi. Safety wise if you compare it with a myvi this iriz is stone age.
