Thanks for all the work you put in this year Sofyan. You are without doubt one of the best auto reviewers to be found on TH-cam, or anywhere really. Wish you the best for the coming year!
And to all the fans of this channel: enjoy Sofyan's videos while you can, because here is a guy much too smart and articulate to remain a TH-cam auto reviewer forever. Mark my words...

I finally saw a 2018 Accord today Jan 1. I guess sales haven't picked up for Honda as they had hoped. Admittedly it looks better than in pics or video, but still takes second to the Camry in looks. The XSE looks hot especially in two-tone colors, and they are EVERYWHERE you look.

Thanks Sofyan for all of your hard work over the past year. Your reviews are informative, credible and fun. Since seeing these in January of 2017 at the Detroit Auto Show, I have closely been following the Toyota Camry XSE V6 and the Kia Stinger GT AWD. I was floored to see my top new car contenders as your honorable mentions. I have until May of 2019 to lease my new car and currently driving a 2015 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport AWD. I'm anxious to see the 2019 redesign of the ES 350 as there have been rumors of new trim lines to make up for the outgoing GS. I must say that you are now my top Journalist for auto reviews followed by The Fast Lane Car and The Driver's Seat. Keep up your excellent work and I look forward to more great videos in 2018!

Sofyan keep up the great work in 2018. Sorry but disagree with your Alfa choice. Not enough dealerships or reliability to want that car at that price point. Agree on the Kia stinger. When you are in that car its hard to believe it is a Kia. It's such a blast to drive. I just don't think people will appreciate it until they get behind the wheel. Happy New Year to you

A totally agree with you on Accord vs Camry. I've never been a huge fan of Camry's staid driving dynamics, which did improve with the redesign, but still lags behind the Accord. They both have excellent build quality, but Honda wins in driving dynamics and that's what I care about. Also, I just want to congratulate you on your success. You're in my top 3 car review channels and that's because you're a true enthusiast and you review a wide variety of models, something for everyone. I hope to see much more on your Miata, maybe some mod videos? Keep up the great work!

I don't have a probelm with the SI. Its not that much better than a regular civic but its also not much more expensive. The premium you pay for it is pretty much the cost of better suspension and a limited slip differential, so its still a decent deal. What messes it up a bit are the deals you can get for the much faster GTI...

  • @jpdragon74
    @jpdragon74 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I couldn't agree with you more on the Civic Si. I test drove both the Si and an EX hatch with the CVT and I honestly didn't think the Si was better than the EX hatch. What won me over was the practicality of the Hatch as well as a better ride quality. The CVT is well matched to that engine.

Just saw a 2018 Camry today in that electro blue color with black details,,,,,,damn,,,,,,,,,thing looked straight SEMA, but it's just off the lot like that ?! Add in that 300 HP V6 (yeah, you hear that Honda) and I must say, good job Toyota.

    • @thtupid

The accord definitely is the better car (minus the looks). It just seems to do everything the camry does, but better. And i'm a Toyota guy. Too bad it may not come to Australia. And even the camry here is watered down...so sad...(although our top tier SL (XSE wannabe minus the dual tone roof and sporty suspensions) has seat memory and possibly cooled seats too...but wording as a bit vague about that).

Doesn't mean much when he says a Civic is a better performance car value than a Mustang or Camaro. Hands down the Mustang Ecoboost is IMO the budget friendly performance winner, as with just a pair of summer max performance tires and a chip to increase the boost (which we know it can do without issue, since its the identical engine as in the Focus RS), there is zero chance the economy car in gaudy plastic with extra power is going to keep pace. Is it an Asian thing? I notice Asian guys are always giving the Civic more props than it deserves.

Civic Si with tune puts it right where you said you would want it to be, can add 50 torque with no other mods (of course you can do the same to any civic 1.5t) but they are easy to find 2-3k under sticker making them a great value.

I really wanted to love the accord stick shift, but when i test-drove it, it came up short. I drove the 1.5L turbo 6 speed, i found the turbo lag so bad, that i would need to pause between shifts to wait for revs to come down. it was a real thrill killer. also, the all-black only interior was disappointing, I wanted another color choice. Opting for the automatic would get me stuck with a CVT, so that was out of the question. I am also a bit weary about this new trend of using smaller engines with turbo to produce higher power numbers in terms of overall longevity. How long will a 1.5L pushing out 190 HP really hold out for? Another area that the accord fell short on was quality. Specifically exterior fit and finish. the rocker panels on the accord are attached in a very flimsy way and feels like i could pull them off without any effort. This is across all trim levels all the way up to touring. Also, every accord on the lot at the dealer had a rattle in each of the front fenders. Just give the front fender a tap and you will hear it. The grill is also suspect, its so flat in the front, one light nudge in a parking lot may destroy it. I then gave up on a stick shift and started looking at other automatics. I eventually went to check out the camry SE 2.5 and that won me over. the 2.5L normally aspirated 4 CL with direct injection and high compression (similar to Mazda Skyactive) really feels great and gets better mileage than the accord 1.5 turbo, the 8 speed automatic with real paddle shifters is nice and crisp, the interior comes in grey leatherette with very nice cloth inserts where you actually sit, far better seats than accord, styling is far better in my mind than the new accord which justs looks like an oversized civic to me. Infotainment system isnt as good as Honda, but i am buying a car, not a phone accessory. So even though i went into this search expecting to buy the accord sport stick shift, i ended up buying the camry SE. I am sure there are plenty of others who may go down the same route i did. Just do yourself a favor, try them both before deciding which one is right for you.

For those of us not in the price range of the stinger GT, is the base stinger still a good pick?

I wanted to love the CH-R too, but the lack of AWD deterred me, especially since I live in an area with a lot of snow.

Chris Capaccio If you get passed the Renegade’s power train not being the best, it’s a beautiful car with amazing capability!

Get snow tires. An fwd car with snow tires is far more effective than am awd car with regular tires

America doesn't get AWD? So weird! Even we aussies get it! Totally wasted here though...especially with that asthmatic engine. Even our infotainment system is the watered down version. Priorities right?

Chris Capaccio, Do yourself a favor and find a car that offers decent visibility. The C-HR is an accident which won't wait too long to happen.
