Tip from scorch main here. When pkaying scorch, use the brightest, most obnoxious pink camo. It puts the enemy in a false sense of security, allowing you to make the best smores this side of the frontier.
I see what you did there, Frothy. I see it. 8:32, manual dot on the center of the screen for R-97 and CAR... ...Ps-st, where can I find the software for it? :3
Just a little note, you can activate flame core and almost instantly eject and the animation will still go through and the core will be spent, I love just dashing in while doomed, core ejecting and watching people blow the fuck up
Popped up in my recommended, figured I'd leave a tip for any remaining players. As a Scorch main, don't use Inferno Shield, use Tempered Plating. Originally it only reduced self damage, it now completely negates it. Wade through a sea of thermite, just to BM an enemy titan with an exec.
@@vcmxn2 You can pop an incendiary trap for stacked damage which actually does more damage in a shorter amount of time than just the shield. Tempered Plating is the best perk to go with unless you're playing on an open map and for some reason still want to use scorch, in that case use the increase thermate launcher perk, I don't remember its name.
I actually always take Tempered Plating with Scorch. Not taking damage from your own thermite allows you to play super aggressively and i've never really found that i've had any issue with the duration of flame shield.
Id agree on this. I think tempered plating is a huge help because i got myself into so many shit situations where i was just deleting half my health bar because of not so smart decisions
This video was very helpful but I feel like you're not quite understanding the depth of the other abilities. Tempered Plating, for instance, allows extremely aggressive Scorch play, and encourages it by keeping you safe from critical damage. You can melt other heavy titans in seconds with extremely aggressive tactics through Tempered Plating. For instance, firing two barrels behind and in front of your target, firewalling to detonate both and start damaging, then approaching with Flame Shield up, becoming nearly invincible and crushing your opponent to death under inescapable and overwhelming Themite. Scorched Earth is also particularly useful as it does its initial damage burst and creates 3 firewalls, leaving you the ability to place two traps and firewall, dealing incredible damage and making an entire area a Zone of near instant death. In long range open areas, Wildfire Launcher is a king, as it allows Scorch to considerably mitigate his general lack of ranged options by making his Thermite Launcher more like napalm mortars, and allowing him to continue to be a damaging threat at range. Lastly, Fuel for the Fire is the most simple Scorch kit, but is nonetheless invaluable, as the ability to much more rapidly create firewalls improves Scorch's ability to control enemies and trap them in unfavorable situations. I know you're probably not going to read this, being a much older video, but as someone who's spent a lot of time trying out the different kits to understand each titan, I can safely say there is no "superior" kit, as each one slightly modifies the intended playstyle of each titan, and can synergize with their core kit, like how Viper Thrusters and Enhanced Boost do wonders for Northstar's already huge mobility. Sorry if this seems like an enormous ramble on an old video of all things, but I love Titanfall and I feel like truly understanding the value of each kit is vital to truly appreciate the depth of the gameplay.
You have to recall this guide was 5 years old at the time of your writing this. For example Tempered plating did not provide the critical resist and it did not give full damage negation of your own fire, only partial, making it rather useless.
@@duren8556 Make Amped Wall last twice, maybe twice and a half as long and then we can say it's got a good use case. Well, in MP it currently doesn't, but in long laned Frontier Defense maps like Kodai with an LMG or the SMR, Amp Wall can put in an alarming amount of work. You can basically turn yourself into a miniature Legion and hold down an entire lane.
Definitely agree. Scorch was my first titan and is still my favorite and best performing titan; got him to G2.5 with my other titans barely hitting lvl 7. The flame shield is so necessary not because it's OP but because it enables him to actually do what he needs to do. It's extremely versatile because it does more damage and has longer duration for MORE damage, more time to retreat, peeking corners, reducing damage from multiple titans at once, and protecting teammates. Same for the dash, it disabled my dash when I regenerated and I felt slow as hell; I rely so much on dashing in a direction and immediately Flame Coring to be unpredictable, and dash into enemies when near that as I use the flame shield. Scorch one of the most challenging but rewarding titans, which is also why I stopped playing Tone: too easy and OP with same exact motions for damage, not very fun.
Ya Scorch is a great unique Titan that isn't for everyone, but the ones it is for makes it fun. Also I've been liking Ronin a bit more actually. Tried Ronin and felt pretty useless, but now I can see where it would be very useful. Does quite a lot of fast damage and is pretty fun once you get the hang of the movement
Agreed, at first I loved legion but I found I was getting wrecked by scorch so I decided to give him a try after practicing with friends and watching this I got the hang of using him and I became a beast defensively and offensively.
Scorch is God-tier for Attrition/Bounty Hunt against teams that aren't coordinated. Since especially in BH they're clustered around 2 points, they're utterly fucked.
Here's a tip for rodeos, if a pilot is ever trying to rodeo you and you're next to a wall, stand right next to it, and shoot your Termitator slightly upwards, the splash damage from the thermite will hit the rodeoing pilot and force them to jump off or die
“No Titan gets countered as hard as scorch” Meanwhile, Legion VS facehugger papa scorch. the biggest “guess I’ll die” since a gravity star on your nuke eject
Extra tip : You can you use your core at the same time you self destruct. You'll be immune due to the self destruct animation AND fire your core while being sure it'll destroy them
Something worth noting, which he might mention I don't know, I haven't finished the video yet, scorch enhanced auto titan is very good. Usually even with enhanced auto titan it's better to just be in your titan, but scorch with enhanced, and you on foot backing it up is devastating. It's actually very capable, and you can help keep pilots off it, and add dps against other titans, whether it's with big guns, rodeos, or using the electric grenade. I forgot it's name it's been a bit since I played but stunning the enemy titan a bit is pretty useful.
'this is probably gonna be one of the longest guides i put together' monarch guide ends up being 45 minutes also the fact that you said "incedniary" so many times instead of "incendiary" was so funny but so triggering
I've found that Tempered Plating can be pretty fun under certain circumstances. Just go on titan brawl or something and turn on bulldozer mode as you spam your flame abilities and advance towards the enemy relentlessly. Being immune to crits also helps against those titans with automatic weapons like Legion and Monarch.
TrumpKingsly When it comes to maps like Kodai, and Homestead it's his best option. Just hang back and lob shots, but other than that it's shield 90% of the time.
One of my favorite things to do is help my team back someone into a corner, then immediately activate Heat Shield where they can't do anything and just fry them to a crisp.
When i got the game i instantly gravitated towards scorch, but then started using other titans. This guide helped me to relearn everybody’s favorite grill master, thanks a flaming ton!
Thanks to Apex Legends I've found Titanfall and boy what I have been missing out on. My biggest problem is relearning what alot of vets know as second hand especially when it comes to titans and maps. Scorch and Northstar are my mains, this vid has helped a ton on how to push without tempered plating which i prefer to use to isolate and heat shield isolated titans. I really do like heat shield but with his immobility it can be hard to press in especially on tons, ronins and ions.
Marth Link yes mate! Apex made me remember this game and I went back and have been playing it since, especially since apex boosted its player base somewhat
i never had the motivation too get it because of the unreliability oh origin servers but weirdly after i won a discord art comp for 25dollars (it was the wildcard winner for funniest art not best) it released on steam shortly after making my 25 dollars well spent
Your not one of those youtubers who made my day amazing again but you help me and you go out of your way to do so, and i thank you and i think that everone else does. Keep it up 👍
As a G100 Scorch main, he doesn't know how to play Scorch. I really liked all the other mastering titan videos, but you couldn't be more wrong in this one. If played right, Scorch is the scariest titan in the game. Nothing can compare to his DPS.
I used to hate using Scorch because it was so hard for me to learn how to use him, but the more I play with Scorch, I find him to be one of the most useful Titans in the game. Most people I play with love to use Ronin & of course they come up close & just melee the crap out of me, but Scorch is a really good counter to Ronin because of his shield, and the incendiary traps.
I'd recommend using the thermite plating instead of thermal shield, getting killed as a titan is always death by a thousand cuts Minimizing unnecessary damage is the biggest thing to keep you alive, especially as a tank. Plus the removal of crit spots drastically reduces the potential dps of both titans and pilots. Also the stacking of firewall, traps, AND thermal shield is already insane damage, and 2 of which can be from range. This is more than enough if you play your cards right
I actually use wildfire launcher as my scorch kit. The extra damage you get from the fire is really noticeable and in my opinion the duration of flame shield is functional as is
Just finished putting your advice for the ronin into practice and now its the titan that I'm winning the most games with whilst actually having fun with it; you deserve much, much more subs good sir.
I think these guides would be much easier to digest if they had a short synopsis. For example: Scorch is for locking down choke points by cleverly placing incendiary traps behind enemies, pushing them into them with the inferno shield and then stacking additional damage with ranged weapons. You should run the kits extra dash and inferno shield.
Four things I think that might've been alluded to but no explained that I think are important to beginners: 1) Never launch both gas canisters into one spot, the enemies will dash out of it and you will have no canisters left to burst your damage. If you walk up behind a group of enemy Titans, spread them out. 2) Before you use your core drop a canister, the gas will be set on fire boosting the damage further. 3) The heat shield is a great tool in killing AI infantry and pilots, better than the punch. 4) You can launch canisters while you have your shield up, use that to safely set up traps while staying protected. By the way Frothy, what do you think could be done to buff the other kits so the shield buff is not an auto-include ?
As a scorch main who had regened with scorch many times. I actually never use the inferno shield kit I use tempered plating. The only damage you'll ever do to yourself is with your own projectile. And you have to be pretty foolish to do that. With that said, being immune to your own incendiary trap and firewall makes them just as wonderfully useful as the thermal shield. You can fill a hallway with fire and push forward into your own fire with the shield. Since you can get in so much closer you don't need that extra duration. Inferno shield makes you dependent on the thermal shield Tempered plating removed the disadvantages of your abilities have against yourself. One thing you forgot to mention is that the incendiary traps, and firewall, stack damage. A Titan standing in the middle of two lit incendiary traps and a firewall, while you pin them with a thermal shield will die in seconds. Can even kill a team of titans in a hallway in seconds because your core builds up due to the stacked and constant damage. To maximize this effect, I throw down both incendiary traps in the same spot and light it with the firewall right down the middle. One incendiary trap is just an area with damage to avoid. The triple stack furnace is a death sentence to any titan who stays in it too long. And if it doesn't kill them it can cripple them and use your core to finish them off or an entire team. Unless they are a smart and skilled ronin pilot. But even they fail to escape sometimes.
I have been waiting for this guide to come out, cause tone used to be my main, but she got boring and wasn't in anyway a challenge, while scorch on the other hand is sooooo fun and actually takes some thought.
Scorch master here! Personally, I knew every tip you threw out there, but I'm SO glad a popular Titanfall player made a video for my boy Scorch! He's so underutilized it's absolutely ridiculous. It's hard to imagine that since I personally feel he's the best Titan out of all of them. Im hoping people listen and take note of your advice here and decide to hop in his Pilot seat and give him a try. See you all on the frontier!
hey there, necromancer here. a year later, do you still feel the same? is tempered plating viable at all or is the extra damage/duration still the best option for scorch?
great vid, as always. Especially useful to see your angles and timing on the flame trap napalm launcher, and how the falling napalm ignites the flametrap. That will completely change how I play Scorch in any sort of walled environment!
Nice! An in-depth Scorch tutorial from FrothyOmen! Scorch has been my favourite Titan since I started playing a week ago, and that is mostly thanks to you, Frothy, hyping him up so much in your previous videos (beta and preview builds). Like the design of your intro, btw. You've had it for a while now, but I never comment, so..... keep up the good work, I guess! :-)
As a g100 scorcher, I would like to say that an experienced scorch player who really knows how to hit their shots can do well with wildfire launcher if they have good distance on their opponent and for REALLY REALLY good scorches, tempered plating ks good if you want to be very aggressive with your playstyle(just make sure you have a perfect setup with your incendiary traps because that flame shield will fail you if you push with it)
Little tip as scorch if you fire the incendiary trap in a house and light it it will kill everyone inside. I like to use this to flush out houses in attrition where those pesky charge rifle campers stay and flush out the points in amped hard points
Jason Mycroft there’s no point in using it now though because every gun that didn’t have a dot now has one and weapons with a circle you also don’t need a dot because that’s the exact place they’re going to hit in that circle so if the side of the circle is on an enemy it will still hit the nemesis
I don’t use Scorch alot i mostly use Monarch but Scorch to me the second most fun titan to use in the game but i’ve played titanfall 2 since release so i’ve had my experience with all 7 titans So despite no one asking im gonna list my opinion on each of them(the numbers that the titans are not how i rank them its me listing off in order) 1: Ion - Pretty straightforward has a decent and easy to understand kit. 2: Scorch - More complex than most titans and requires a lot more of thinking and making correct plays at the correct time. Really good in tight spaces to block in titans and burn them 3: Northstar - Takes skill to use her kit properly and positoning is probably the most important thing about her. Has a sniper that can fuck up any titan if you can get a critical hit with a full charged shot (cool tip if you catch a titan in a tether trap shoot the cluster missile at their feet to get maximum damage and with the precision shot kit you can shoot through friendly titans to hit enemy titans) 4: Ronin - i barley use Ronin so someone else can give me some tips so I CAN EDIT THIS 5: Tone - He is the easiest titan to use because all you have to do is keep your distance, make your moves on when to go on the offense or play defensive and remember that If Ronin gets close he’ll just arc wave your wall if you try to use it for cover (BASICALLY HE’S OP AND I HATE HAVING TO PLAY AGAINST HIM) 6: Legion - Always make sure you use your dash effectively if the predator cannon is spun up it can be used to flank a fleeing titan or to get a cheeky angle in and because if its on cooldown and you find you’re self fighting multiple titans especially Ronin because he can one shot your gun shield with arc wave so movement is one of your main priorities ( Also good in tight spaces where he can dump bullets into other titans 7: Monarch - My main. Monarch can have multiple different play-styles and is very complex but it all comes down to preference because of the multiple choices you have with upgrade core so heres my tip You are weak when you first start out and if you are trying her for the first time you have a huge learning curve if you want to perfect her just as i have Stay out of big fights try to use friendly Ogre titans or tone walls as cover. Engage and disengage before taking to much damage try to find cheeky angles to chip away enemy titans health to build up your core. After your first core is gained. If you have arc rounds you can now if you want try to engage mid-range battles with other titans and Arc rounds drains Tone’s wall, Ion’s vortex shield, Legion’s gun shield and Scorch’s thermal shield’s health and durability quicker. Last tip because i cant be asked writing more Use Overcore combined with battery back up to start with 40% core and 20% after every upgrade also combine it with energy thief to earn your core 10% faster and steal batteries during executions to maintain your health so when you get to the 3rd core with loads of health prepare to mess up any titan in a 1v1 or team fight
I love Scorch. I've had a lot of great games with this guy. Some good information in this guide that I'll have to consider. Definitely the most fun Titan if you have a good game with him. I just wish that he was more versatile. I play Ion more often than not simply because Ion can adapt reasonably well to most situations.
Scorch main: go inferno shield with dash boost, bait them my hiding behind cover then deploy your traps behind them once they get close and ignite, use flame shield and if they dash back dash towards them. The only damage you take is from your own traps because of shield.
Im so happy for this, I actually logged onto your stream on Twitch and subbed to you, the same day and asked you to teach me how to play scorch then you released the video just a little bit after! Almost feels like you made it for me :) Also, you have taught me so many new tips and tricks that have helped me perform so much better! Thank you!
As a Scorch user my strat Get in the opponent titans face and use therm shield Then just spam buttons Don't forget to equip the Scorch kit that makes him immune to his own fire (because I feel like that should be normal) If that's not your play style good for you. I just feel that's most efficient for me
Hunter Nelson lol that is so true. most of ronins in LTS are just going to banzai and suicide as fast as possible by running in to group of 3 titans and just trying to kill them all with the sword. looks funny tho
nondairyrook I just flank anytime I can when I'm in Ronin; works wonders when the enemy is disoriented and panicking so then your team can mop up what you leave behind. Then again, if you've got a good flank with Ronin and you know how to deal damage at the max, then there won't be much of anything left in the area to even pose a threat once you're through with them.
I'm G7.14 scorch main and words of advice if you plan to play aggressively (this guide is more defensive) use tempered plating to become immune to your own thermite only your own though, you always want to stack damage when playing aggressive, use firewall at the opposite of what we said use it in narrow hallways it will instantly be useful for trapping enemy's and stacking damage, abuse the fact that you can deploy your traps will using heat shield by blocking enemy's cover, and one last thing most enemy's will not run away from your thermite if you constantly push them with your launcher or use a bright skin just make sure you distract them when using abilities. If this helped you tell me and if you have a question also ask
Nuclear eject can be useful in close quarters to force enemies into an incendiary trap, and tempered plating allows you to use flame shield to push enemies into your traps more effectively so it can be useful for a more aggressive playstyle
Has anyone felt the feeling of losing gunfight and games. I don't know if it's me, the gun I use or just the game. Has anyone felt that way recently? pro to noob
Chivalry could just be a bit of a losing streak. Try playing with friends and not get tilted. It may very well just be a mental block if you are used to playing better
it could be the meta but generally if you do good with your weapon of choice (unless the weapon is shit tier) you can still perform well with non-meta guns. i still do quite good with my cold war even tho its countered by players with good movement, just have fun and take the defeats like a man. you wont always loose and sometimes even loosing can be fun ;)
Happens quite a lot to me. I watch Frothy's guides to titans several times but I'm hardly any closer to being as effective as before. This is also my first Titanfall due to being a PS4 pleb, but I think I'm getting the hang of Titan gameplay more and more as I play. I'm atleast doing better as Ion, usually dealing the most amount of damage out of my entire team (those wannabe's best start watching Frothy's guides so that I can win LTSs more)
Scorch is also better when you're fighting alongside a team mate. Scorch is widely considered the best partner for a Titan as he can set up firewalls that team mates can drive the enemies into. By himself it's difficult, it's best to hug corners and try putting your firewall behind your opponents so they can run into you which opens them up to Scorch's Thermal Shield damage range. Just make sure to never run mindlessly using up all your ammo unless you're close enough to land a hit or put up a solid fire wall trap. I say this because people usually use up their ammo making failed firewalls which gives the enemy time to attack you or worse, their partner joins the fray. So it's best to use your primary weapon until you're in position to set up a proper firewall. Make sure to never set up a firewall directly towards your opponent but rather the location they could run to, preferably behind them which will make them run directly into your Thermal Shield range. Practice in private lobbies on bounces your various attacks off walls so you can start trapping Titans in your inferno colosseum...good luck!
Best partner for scorch is legion, neither of you can stray too far ahead or behind, and you have all ranges covered! Trust me, as a scorch main and I have a friend who mains legion! We RECK!!!! Especially if one of you aggros someone and the other flanks!
@@mattkroll4464 honestly every titan is scorches best friend, because scorch gives out massive amounts of pressure to enemies. because your teammate shooting while you push them is more than they can handle. either they run or deal with one of you, all of them disadvantagous. unless they are a phase shitting fuck you nuke ronins
If you're feeling particularly daring. In lts try to rush down a lane the enemy team ignored and attack from behind. By doing so, you'll pressure them out from corners and shields out into you teams line of fire. He also works great as an area denial and support as opposed to being a direct assault.
i love this titan due to the capabilities of area denial due to his firewall he in unable to be approached especially with the incendiary traps. if they can close the distance easily like Ronin they will mostly stay thus allowing you to deal huge amounts of damage with your thermal shield. usually as scorch i use the inferno shield or tempered plates. overall scorch is fun to play when you do things right :D
As a scorch main (7 hours titan time) one of the most devastating things you can do with him is hit a good flank. He has massive AoE damage so he's the only Titan that can deal good damage to multiple titans at once. In LTS I earn the flame core, go for the flank then pop two traps, throw down fire wall and then slam the ground with flame core. Shoot a pot shot then dash forward with the flame shield to finish off anything that's left. The damage you deal in seconds is disgusting but my god the whole stacking damage principle is the most satisfying thing in the game. Also I got the prime Titan and the voice and execution never get old 😂
As an almost gen 50 scorch main ive always said that tempered plating should have been standard on scorch and that kit should have been double flame wall or something because we shouldnt have to use a kit specifically to not take damage from our own fire, definitely one of the many reasons why scorch is so meh compared to other titans. I really just hate that so many maps in this game are massive so we cant use scorch most of the time to counter ronin which sucks and totally changes the dynamic of games.
As a G9 Scorch Main here’s a tip when you first start it’s fine to use tempered plating but as you progress I started to just not do enough damage to switch to thermal shield and overcore so that you always have an electric smoke and extra core
I understand when you get bored and just decide to run in lol But what do you do when you play TvT and for some reason everyone wants to stand in the same spot and you can't move?
Switch off Scorch. You have to know when TO and when NOT TO use this guy, and the situation you described is exactly when you've just gotta switch off of him and grab Northstar or Ion or Legion instead.
FrothyOmen I do that too. But I guess you can't help that your team doesn't know how to manuver around the map lol. Maybe we can play together one day if you have it on PS4.
tempered plating not only makes you imune to your own damage, increasing your life span and making an aggressive playstyle more feasible, it removes crits from you so you're more generaly armored up. it's pretty damn good.
Northstar outright beats him from powerful burst damage at a range he can't meet and Ion's vortex shield is capable of even higher amounts of burst damage that's difficult for even a great Scorch player to predict. You can't really use flame shield to defend against a Northstar, since Northstar will just wait for you to drop it before actually shooting, and the projectile is too fast to bring heat shield up before it hits unless you're extremely attentive and at extremely long ranges (the grassy area on Angel City, for example). I primarily play Northstar, and Scorch is easily tied with Ronin for the titans I counter the hardest. Ion's counter is pretty situational, because just throwing thermite grenades back at Scorch isn't really effective, but you in most situations some idiot Legion or Tone player will be feeding the Ion's shield and he has the potential to throw all of that back at you.
his counter is ranged burst poke. Damage that is over time like legion and tone can be predicted and countered with heat shield and so is ineffective. But titans like ion and northstar have instant burst with a charge shot or laser shot respectively. You cant always stop these because the projectile speed is very high or instant and a good ion or northstar will bait you into holding your shield in an attempt to block it but not fire until the second you let the shield down. Eventually they just poke the scorch down until he is no longer able to stay in lane without risking being dove and executed.
Just a little note Frothy, I like the background music that you've had in previous videos. Doesn't have to be any specific music, but I like that it was there. Helps to cover up the little wet mouth sounds which are a personal peeve
Man I totally agree about the dash, and after watching your video, am pretty convinced about the increased heat shield. I clearly never took enough advantage of it. I also didn't know you could fire your gas barrel and keep your flame shield out at the same time, so that was huge.
I started playing titanfall again last week. I tried out scorch, which I already had played a bit but didn't get the hang of. This time however, my only goal was to trap, corner and sneak up on ennemy titans. I ended up getting monstrous games to the point where I once managed to kill four titans simultaneously with the same flame core and winning us the match. Scorch is now my favorite titan.
When i started playing my friends explained what each titan does, but couldn't really give me a feel so I tried them all. I almost immediately fell in love with scotch. But i couldn't figure out how to use his kit in a way i was comfortable with, that said this tutorial will definitely help me so thank you so much! Now it's time to Kill them with Fire!
Hey man, no need to be rude. He, like many others, prefers inferno shield. Thermal plating is only really useful if you are bad at not walking in your own flames, which he helps explain how to avoid that.
Hey Frothy! Just wanted to say thanks for this video. Your "Mastering Ion" video was a huge help and after watching "Mastering Scorch" I was dominating in pub matches last night. Cheers!
I was surprised that you said Canal was a bad map for Scorch. Sure, you've got the river bed or whatever that is in the center but if you manage to cross that you can fight the enemy team in close quarters and really shine.
Recently tried this in a public game and it worked pretty well, if you’re under a roof and a pilot rodeos you, look up and fire your thermite into the ceiling. It’ll rain down on you and do a little damage, but it melts pilots faster than electric smoke could dream of
I personally tend to like the extended firewall because you can in a way create a lane and it's good for deterring people to try to come out and open spaces where you could be at a disadvantage
I remember playing as scorch in Relic dropping from a bridge down next to a legion and taking them from full health to dead with only inferno shield. It was one of my favorite Titanfall 2 moments
I'm slowly playing through all the Titans, Gen'ing each as I do so and I can hands down say Scorch so far has been the most fun to play as. I just love trapping titans in corners with fire. And when they try and charge you just flip on the shield and let em melt!
Tip from scorch main here. When pkaying scorch, use the brightest, most obnoxious pink camo. It puts the enemy in a false sense of security, allowing you to make the best smores this side of the frontier.
Mecha Zard Quite a spicy meme
whats the source of this meme?
Mecha Zard Ronin main here. Can confirm it's best strat.
You know that meme. the dodge meme and and the troll face and the harambe meme
I use a dark grey so Ronin's think I'm doomed and a free execution. Then they kiss the flame shield.
Fire wall is him saying boi
HunterC16 [ ••] I’m now going to main scorch
@@kylehagertybanana lol use the enhanced thermal shield kit, use that shield a lot when close as you can damage 2 titans at once.
This is a perfect comment, no thanking for the likes, a funny yet simple joke.. it's pure art
Flame core is like: c’mon and SLAM, and welcome to the JAM
Well now I love scortch
You said to use the flame shield as a weapon and I stopped paying attention. I’ve been dominating for 20 minutes now, this is op
Lol I’ve been doing that since I first played him
This is why I use thermite plating so I can chase enemy titans in my flames.
Says this is probably going to be the longest tip video. Makes 45 minute monarch tip video.
Monarchs got like a million combos tho
This is actually the shortest video lol

Just a little note, you can activate flame core and almost instantly eject and the animation will still go through and the core will be spent, I love just dashing in while doomed, core ejecting and watching people blow the fuck up
BronzieBlue I told my friend about that since I found it a while back and we both abuse it now
Did the same thing with Ion. I pinned a guy into a corner and activated then ejected an instant before I got executed.
Yeah the core eject is extremely helpful. I use it in one of the clips that I posted
I found this out on accident and now I will add this to my playstyle 😎
Combine that with the self destruct, and your a walking nuclear bomb
Popped up in my recommended, figured I'd leave a tip for any remaining players. As a Scorch main, don't use Inferno Shield, use Tempered Plating. Originally it only reduced self damage, it now completely negates it. Wade through a sea of thermite, just to BM an enemy titan with an exec.
That and it removes weak spots.
inferno shield is still insanely good
@@vcmxn2 You can pop an incendiary trap for stacked damage which actually does more damage in a shorter amount of time than just the shield.
Inferno Shield can boost your shield so much, you can take out a full health legion with only the shield.
Id agree on this. I think tempered plating is a huge help because i got myself into so many shit situations where i was just deleting half my health bar because of not so smart decisions
Oh and it also removes critical hit boxes which means Northstar mains wet their pants
@@Nikolesh_nocash personally all the kits are just good
Wait, so should i use Inferno shield or Tempered plating?

100% agree that wildfire launcher is super underrated. It actually does quite a bit of damage if you can land the shots.
You have to recall this guide was 5 years old at the time of your writing this.
For example Tempered plating did not provide the critical resist and it did not give full damage negation of your own fire, only partial, making it rather useless.
Based🗿
Facts that’s why titanfall is so good , everybody and their kits are just as busted as the next guy , except amped wall idgaf ts is ass ‼️👍
2Juiced4Me that is literally the same thing that happened to me played tone felt she was op and played scorch now I kick ass with a challenge
Agreed, at first I loved legion but I found I was getting wrecked by scorch so I decided to give him a try after practicing with friends and watching this I got the hang of using him and I became a beast defensively and offensively.

Who else has been maining scorch since release
For everything except LTS mostly. Where I tend to use Northstar.

You can also hold thermal shield while looking up and it's guaranteed kill when they jump off

I use the extra thermite on his gun when I'm on those long range maps, but other than that it's shield all the way.
I've really been trying to make that kit work. It seems like such a tasty way to turn him into a long-range mortar-style titan.
TrumpKingsly When it comes to maps like Kodai, and Homestead it's his best option. Just hang back and lob shots, but other than that it's shield 90% of the time.
I find the extra thermite handy if you can land your shots well as it can seriously hurt if you get the blobs to stick well.
I am a scorch main and have been for ages and I use thermal plating because I just love chasing my foes into the flames
One of my favorite things to do is help my team back someone into a corner, then immediately activate Heat Shield where they can't do anything and just fry them to a crisp.
When i got the game i instantly gravitated towards scorch, but then started using other titans.

As a G100 Scorch main, he doesn't know how to play Scorch. I really liked all the other mastering titan videos, but you couldn't be more wrong in this one. If played right, Scorch is the scariest titan in the game. Nothing can compare to his DPS.
Fells like he made this one JUST to shit on scorch
I used to hate using Scorch because it was so hard for me to learn how to use him, but the more I play with Scorch, I find him to be one of the most useful Titans in the game. Most people I play with love to use Ronin & of course they come up close & just melee the crap out of me, but Scorch is a really good counter to Ronin because of his shield, and the incendiary traps.

@@FrothyOmen lol
I'm having to watch this a couple times because I want to main scorch and get better at him
I'd recommend using the thermite plating instead of thermal shield, getting killed as a titan is always death by a thousand cuts
Minimizing unnecessary damage is the biggest thing to keep you alive, especially as a tank.
Glad you're enjoying him! He's one of my favorites as well.
Four things I think that might've been alluded to but no explained that I think are important to beginners:
1) Never launch both gas canisters into one spot, the enemies will dash out of it and you will have no canisters left to burst your damage.
I think Northstar needs a buff to his core ability. More damage, it's like pecking at a fucking rock.
NouseEmpire I think she needs faster rockets. Flight Core is high burst DMG
Putnamehere6 it's a she but I totally agree
Northstar's core actually deals as much damage as the other cores. It's just harder to actually land it.
I shoot where they moveing
*her
As a scorch main who had regened with scorch many times.
I actually never use the inferno shield kit
I use tempered plating.
Inferno shield makes you dependent on the thermal shield
Tempered plating removed the disadvantages of your abilities have against yourself.
This was made back when tempered plating only reduced the damage instead of negating it.
@@venerable1011 that makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Nice! An in-depth Scorch tutorial from FrothyOmen! Scorch has been my favourite Titan since I started playing a week ago, and that is mostly thanks to you, Frothy, hyping him up so much in your previous videos (beta and preview builds).
Three years later, an no-one is going to talk about that absolutely BONKERS flame core at 8:25??????????
5:50 is that a aim dot software, Frothy?
Wyleg Can you get banned for dotting? If not, where does one get one?
omg, that is a thing?!
I would rekt with my try hard gun if I had it. xD
Jason Mycroft there’s no point in using it now though because every gun that didn’t have a dot now has one and weapons with a circle you also don’t need a dot because that’s the exact place they’re going to hit in that circle so if the side of the circle is on an enemy it will still hit the nemesis
I don’t use Scorch alot i mostly use Monarch but Scorch to me the second most fun titan to use in the game but i’ve played titanfall 2 since release so i’ve had my experience with all 7 titans
So despite no one asking im gonna list my opinion on each of them(the numbers that the titans are not how i rank them its me listing off in order)
1: Ion - Pretty straightforward has a decent and easy to understand kit.
2: Scorch - More complex than most titans and requires a lot more of thinking and making correct plays at the correct time. Really good in tight spaces to block in titans and burn them
3: Northstar - Takes skill to use her kit properly and positoning is probably the most important thing about her. Has a sniper that can fuck up any titan if you can get a critical hit with a full charged shot (cool tip if you catch a titan in a tether trap shoot the cluster missile at their feet to get maximum damage and with the precision shot kit you can shoot through friendly titans to hit enemy titans)
4: Ronin - i barley use Ronin so someone else can give me some tips so I CAN EDIT THIS
5: Tone - He is the easiest titan to use because all you have to do is keep your distance, make your moves on when to go on the offense or play defensive and remember that If Ronin gets close he’ll just arc wave your wall if you try to use it for cover (BASICALLY HE’S OP AND I HATE HAVING TO PLAY AGAINST HIM)
6: Legion - Always make sure you use your dash effectively if the predator cannon is spun up it can be used to flank a fleeing titan or to get a cheeky angle in and because if its on cooldown and you find you’re self fighting multiple titans especially Ronin because he can one shot your gun shield with arc wave so movement is one of your main priorities ( Also good in tight spaces where he can dump bullets into other titans
7: Monarch - My main. Monarch can have multiple different play-styles and is very complex but it all comes down to preference because of the multiple choices you have with upgrade core so heres my tip
You are weak when you first start out and if you are trying her for the first time you have a huge learning curve if you want to perfect her just as i have
Stay out of big fights try to use friendly Ogre titans or tone walls as cover.
Last tip because i cant be asked writing more
Use Overcore combined with battery back up to start with 40% core and 20% after every upgrade also combine it with energy thief to earn your core 10% faster and steal batteries during executions to maintain your health so when you get to the 3rd core with loads of health prepare to mess up any titan in a 1v1 or team fight

nondairyrook I just flank anytime I can when I'm in Ronin; works wonders when the enemy is disoriented and panicking so then your team can mop up what you leave behind. Then again, if you've got a good flank with Ronin and you know how to deal damage at the max, then there won't be much of anything left in the area to even pose a threat once you're through with them.
I am a bad ronin but I dont pick him
I'm G7.14 scorch main and words of advice if you plan to play aggressively (this guide is more defensive) use tempered plating to become immune to your own thermite only your own though, you always want to stack damage when playing aggressive, use firewall at the opposite of what we said use it in narrow hallways it will instantly be useful for trapping enemy's and stacking damage, abuse the fact that you can deploy your traps will using heat shield by blocking enemy's cover, and one last thing most enemy's will not run away from your thermite if you constantly push them with your launcher or use a bright skin just make sure you distract them when using abilities. If this helped you tell me and if you have a question also ask
4 years later and this video is still the best guide in the TF2 community
Nuclear eject can be useful in close quarters to force enemies into an incendiary trap, and tempered plating allows you to use flame shield to push enemies into your traps more effectively so it can be useful for a more aggressive playstyle
Has anyone felt the feeling of losing gunfight and games. I don't know if it's me, the gun I use or just the game. Has anyone felt that way recently? pro to noob
Chivalry could just be a bit of a losing streak. Try playing with friends and not get tilted. It may very well just be a mental block if you are used to playing better
Chivalry could very well be the meta right now. if you're not using the assault rifles or the devotion, you just lose nowadays
it could be the meta but generally if you do good with your weapon of choice (unless the weapon is shit tier) you can still perform well with non-meta guns. i still do quite good with my cold war even tho its countered by players with good movement, just have fun and take the defeats like a man. you wont always loose and sometimes even loosing can be fun ;)

I’ve already known some of these tips but it’s nice to have a refresher.
i really like the whole concept of scorch and his look, but i just suck with him... can't make him work... maybe these tips will help
He also works great as an area denial and support as opposed to being a direct assault.
wait why would you ever not use tempered plating
i love this titan due to the capabilities of area denial due to his firewall he in unable to be approached especially with the incendiary traps.
if they can close the distance easily like Ronin they will mostly stay thus allowing you to deal huge amounts of damage with your thermal shield.
usually as scorch i use the inferno shield or tempered plates.
overall scorch is fun to play when you do things right :D
As a scorch main (7 hours titan time) one of the most devastating things you can do with him is hit a good flank. He has massive AoE damage so he's the only Titan that can deal good damage to multiple titans at once. In LTS I earn the flame core, go for the flank then pop two traps, throw down fire wall and then slam the ground with flame core. Shoot a pot shot then dash forward with the flame shield to finish off anything that's left.
The damage you deal in seconds is disgusting but my god the whole stacking damage principle is the most satisfying thing in the game.
Also I got the prime Titan and the voice and execution never get old 😂
Speaking from experience here, getting flanked by scorch is literally the worst thing you can do to someone! I've done it and it's been done to me!

Great vid, but can you explain his counters a bit more?
not knowing how to position yourself
Bagelhumper and all of scorchs abilities are ground based and since northstar can fly she counters them
Just a little note Frothy, I like the background music that you've had in previous videos. Doesn't have to be any specific music, but I like that it was there. Helps to cover up the little wet mouth sounds which are a personal peeve
dont forget to like the video, it takes like 2 seconds
Man I totally agree about the dash, and after watching your video, am pretty convinced about the increased heat shield. I clearly never took enough advantage of it. I also didn't know you could fire your gas barrel and keep your flame shield out at the same time, so that was huge.
Or should i say the hottest lol
I started playing titanfall again last week. I tried out scorch, which I already had played a bit but didn't get the hang of. This time however, my only goal was to trap, corner and sneak up on ennemy titans. I ended up getting monstrous games to the point where I once managed to kill four titans simultaneously with the same flame core and winning us the match. Scorch is now my favorite titan.
Wait give me a sec gonna make a sandwich brb.
“Ooga booga thermal shield kit” NO, YOU STAPLE EATER! YOU USE THERMAL PLATING!
Hey man, no need to be rude. He, like many others, prefers inferno shield. Thermal plating is only really useful if you are bad at not walking in your own flames, which he helps explain how to avoid that.
This man obviously doesn't know how dangerous an assault chip auto scorch is
Hey Frothy! Just wanted to say thanks for this video. Your "Mastering Ion" video was a huge help and after watching "Mastering Scorch" I was dominating in pub matches last night. Cheers!
+Daniel Robinson :D
