My general recommendation for calling in your titan is this: * If the enemy team has no titans: call in your titan if you are good at killing pilots in that titan, if not, stay back. * If the enemy team has 2 titans, and your team has less than 3, call yours in. * If your team has 4 or more titans, and the enemy team has less than 4, don't call your titan in. * If the enemy team has more titans than your team's titans, either coordinate a multidrop with your team, or try to whittle them down, then call in your titan. (multi drops are best when used with friends you can rely on) * If the enemy team has 1 titan, unless it's a monarch, you don't really need to call in your titan, and can probably just kill it with some pilots * LOOK AT THE DANG INDICATOR BELOW THE SCORE, it will tell you when a friendly titan has dropped, or is on the field (for a friendly titan drop, it will tell you the instant they press the call button) and will also tell you if friendlies have their titan ready, conversely, it will indicate what enemies have their titans, however wont indicate if an enemy has their titan ready, if an enemy calls a titan, the indicator will not show it until their titan has hit the ground. Biggest take away from me is always trying to have 1 more titan than the enemy, and if you're team has 4 and isn't facing an equal force, save your titan for when your friendlies get weak so you can help rebuild a strong team with 1-2 full health titans. A few random tips regarding NorthStar & Ronin: * Remember ronin is a hit and run fighter, I see so many Ronin's try to hunt down a full health legion, use your arc, shoot as many shots as you can, phase out, hold block, and get away, then reposition and repeat. only try to kill a titan if you have core. (or if they are easily executable) * For fighting Ronin's as a Ronin, keep your distance, when you see one closing in with their shock wave, use your shotgun from max distance, its likely their wave can be dodged, and they will take a bit of damage, next, hold your block while they shoot their rounds, then use your shock wave, and phase away, reload while phasing, and repeat the process, if you play your blocks right, you should be able to win. This method *should* (in the end it boils down to skill) result in you shooting them while they have no defense, and them shooting you when you have defense, meaning in theory, you do more damage and win. Of course, unless you're very confident in your ability to fight other Ronin's, the best way to win a conflict is to never get into a conflict in the first place. * Try to keep your sword block up at all times unless you are flanking or closing the gap on an unaware enemy. * Try to keep your phase dash ready at all times, even when using sword block, a Firestar can hurt a lot, and if you're being rodeoed, try to wait roughly until you hear the pilot about to remove you battery, then phase, the pilot *should* pop off behind you, without you losing any damage, and you can then melee them and get a free battery. It is best to just listen carefully when being rodeoed and spend some time figuring out when the right time to phase is, as its kind of hard to explain. * For NorthStar, if you're being chased by a ronin, don't prioritize hitting fully charged shots, they will just block it while you sit there wasting time charging, just try to stay as far away as possible, and they can't hurt you, and given nothing happens like a pilot rodeoing you, the ronin will likely give up, or you will build enough core to hurt them pretty bad. * If you're a NorthStar being chased by anything that isn't a scorch, try to run towards teammates, and fall behind them, it should help you win the fight. * If you're being attacked by an ion, or scorch, try to fire early, or late, as if they are watching your gun, they may assume you're going to fire the second you get a fully charged shot, and will put up their shield, being unpredictable can either make them use all of their shield, or make them miss when they need to put it up and thus they get shot. * If you spot a legion, save your cluster missile till he pops his shield, he will be rather slow and will likely take a bit of damage, compared to if he hasn't used his gun shield. Holy yap alert, anyways, that's the advice I can give, there's probably better methods than that, but this is what I use.
Another small tid-bit for Ronins that I don’t think was mentioned specifically: using phase dash while stuck with a fire star, grav star, or satchel charges (if for some reason they’re sitting on your titan in wait) will make it so they just drop to the ground, they won’t stay attached. That said it might just be better to sword block a fire star as that reduces damage from it. Other tips: if you use an electric smoke while in your phase dash, it will appear on the normal map, meaning enemies can get hurt by it. A good offensive and defensive tactic as you could place it directly on top of the enemy. This goes for a nuke eject too. While they will see the bright light and the noise through dimensions, it can catch people slightly off guard and you can position yourself behind the enemy while something blocks their front, your friendlies for example.
Pilots, Esmoke removes all fire on deployment. If you get trapped by a scorch, stuck with a fire star, dont be afraid to deploy Esmoke to save you from a ton of damage (inferno and vortex shields can also remove firestars). +it removes archer and mtms locks This works with pilot Esmoke too
I ran into a bad monarch main, he took my battery from a player who rodeoed me but brought it back to his full HP monarch instead of my half-health scorch
the battery etiquette is so important it stinks so bad when ill follow someone who took the bat a pilot stole from me and run off just to die with it instead of give it back
Im very bad a shooters in general so i KNOW im going to die if i have a battery since it's like putting a "Shoot me" sign on you, so when i get a battery my best bet is to search for the nearest friendly titan (Monarchs get priority for obvious reasons).
Scorch being "almost useless" 😱 I refuse to believe such a statement, I've main him since I first picked up his kit in my original campaign run, and immediately mained him in multiplayer and PvEfor WEEKS before testing out other options. Scorch has range and deals SOOOO MUCH damage ❤❤ I've done entire teamwipes so many times, he's my spirit incarnate 🔥🔥🔥 Let the world burn!! ✊😈 (nice video bro, I'm glad to see another fellow pilot still around)
I -mostly- only play Frontier Defense, but I've settled on 4 Titans as my core roster: *_Northstar_* - My personal favorite to play around with. I run extra dash and Viper Thrusters so I can weave around the map, then get back to the Harvester quickly. *_Legion_* - Big gun. Need I say more? *_Monarch_* - Contrary to most Monarchs, I actually play support, using the Core 1 Siphon upgrade to provide my allies with shields mid-combat. (Though if you ask me, that should've been a base ability) *_Tone_* - Auto-Titan. Only run this guy when I want to level a pilot weapon. Overall fun video! Interested to see where this series goes.
really looking forward to seeing where this series goes, loved this vid. even though i knew most all of the info, it was still fun to watch and a nice refresh
Finally-someone who gets it! Can't stand "teammates" in FD who just throw their auto titan on the harvester and walk away thinking it's gonna save the day. Or the wanna-be Ronin's who think nuke ejection is all the bot was made to do. Fight with your titans, whether that be on the ground or in the chassis. Don't👏toss👏them👏out👏.
A small tip for northstar don't move your crosshair lets say a pilot jumps what do you do a)after the pilot jump and hits the ground shot Or b)just spam
When you say battery boost is the best, I now have to try that instead of ticks. Ticks are descent if you place them in the right spot, but if you dont, they are not that good.
Personally I use ticks in combo with titan hunter, just throw a couple buddies near a titan's feet, and you'll do a bit of damage, and get (I think) ~20% titan meter from it, but I use weird strats like A-wall + Eva-8 so maybe its just another one of my absurd combinations of kit.
I think this should be noted about nuke eject: If you don't have a dash or your dash gets blocked, simply running away from the exploding titan will save you.
Frontier defence is a great way too learn titanfall2 and its maps alongside your titans strong points and weak points (with some grain of salt with the ageis upgrades) but when i started i never played a multi match for a good while i got a few guns and attachments for them before i touched multi and i got curb stomped my first time spending more time in multi and frontier let me get the hang of the mechanics and learn areas of the maps it allows you too play on its a good way too learn basics but just playing frontier isnt going to help you win any multi match players (for the most part) dont walk twords you blindly and just let themselves get murked so its a stepping stone for getting into the game in my eyes
I personally use nuclear eject on ALL of my titans (im a scorch main) because i find it funny sprinting at someone in the middle of an execution and using nuclear eject
Ive been running ronin with nuclear ejection cause in more closed maps where You can trap Your enemies like boomtown, Angel city etc i had so many titan kills with it which gives You a lot of next titan charge, also i agree that battery is great bonus but amped weapons when Youre fighting titans rly make them melt and can get You your own titan significantly faster and to finish it off id suggest experimenig a lot have fun with the game (im talking to You gens 10 pilots running with cars and spitfires)
something I like to do is always put my titan on guard mode so they don't run away when trying to embark just remember they wont be able to move at all
Amazing video Here are my thoughts: I think the video is amazing, but I feel like it requires some previous understanding of how the game works and general game flow to put it into use. However from personal experience, alot of new players seem to be missing the understanding of absolute basics like for example Titan executing. From talking to new players, most people never touch the campaign and for most players this is their first shooter. So I would say that in the future episodes, maybe write it like your talking to a boomer with minimal understanding of video games. Apart form that, this is a much needed video for the community.
This is actually pretty useful for me, due to the fact I got Titanfall on PC and getting used to the controls is a bit difficult. Also can you tell me what kind of mods are you using?
What do you mean with "base speed"? The only difference between titan speed is the number of dashes and the dash recover speed. You cannot catch a scorch with a ronin if it is running away and neither of you is dashing nor firing. At least this is my experience, and make sense from balance perspective. Am I wrong? Are there statistics about that?
What? The section on Nuclear Ejection is kinda bizarre, considering the fact you never mention Ronin, which is by far the best Titan to use it on. Good Ronin players are able to use it during phase dash and trap you from behind while you're distracted fighting someone else. Nuke Eject isn't amazing, but definitely viable if you know how to use it.
@MrMadXenomorph No? The fact that this usage requires another person for the enemy to be distracted by already sucks. Arc Wave doesn't slow long enough, the person can just go the opposite direction you phased dashed, Nuke Eject is outrunnable by walking, if somebody is cramped enough to be in that unfavorable position they're probably gonna get killed anyways, and Nuke Eject is very loud. Nuke Eject may have been a lot more viable back then, but the average skill of the playerbase is good enough that I can't really recommend Nuke Eject in good faith even on Northstar.
There’s a decent chance they’ve played the campaign. If so, they know it’s power. I was the same when I started. I just moved away from it over time. Now I’m a proud cloak double wingman player
assault chip is useless thats true but sometimes i just wanna play as pilot and i take assault chip scorch and it plays better than average pilots 💀
Assault chip on ion and scorch is criminally good
@@TheSuperSpud oh yea enchanted ion just perfectly cathces Northstar's bullets and throws them back at the right time. They both are illegally good
Note: The extra dash will make your dashes recharge slower in general. So be careful.
@@victorykingpin3674 didnt that get patched out a while ago?
@burntbasil-hn7lr Maybe, i don't run it because I like consistency lol, and I can't test it because of internet problems.
