    The Ledger Nano X is a great way to protect your crypto! Just make sure you never give your seed phrase to anyone - stay safe out there

      Hello Adam,
      I transferred a Raca token in ledger nano x but i can't find it in the ledger.
      Do you know how can i find it?
      Thx

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@alithaer6630 hey Ali, while it's on your Ledger Nano X address it might not show up on Ledger Live (they don't support every token). It should show up automatically, but if you want to see if you can add it manually you can select the account from your Accounts tab in Ledger Live, then scroll down a bit and hit the "Add Token" button. Hope this helps!

      @@adamventure Hi Adam, great video! I'm curious can we add any new coin to the ledger nano X? For example the new monkeyball coin? Can you connect and protect all the coins in metamask to the hardware wallet? Thanks!

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fredrickcallahan4292 hey thanks I'm glad it was helpful! Short answer - yes you can add almost any token to the Ledger. Long answer - while they might not show up on the Ledger Live, they're still on your address which you can potentially use on a software wallet like MetaMask. You can connect your MetaMask to the Nano X like I showed in the video and protect them that way. Hope this helps!

      @@adamventure Thanks! I'm curious, Couldn't one just skip the Metamask wallet and just go with the cold wallet, thus eliminating the Eth fees? I'm struggling to grasp what is the benefit of having the Metamask wallet? Thanks!

I am looking at studying some traders and copying their strategy rather than investing myself and losing money emotionally. What’s your take on this approach?

    Best explanation ever!!! Thank you SOOOO much!! I honestly just didn’t have ANY understanding of what hardware storage meant! I understand exactly how software wallets work but you just gave me sooo much clarity! Thank you!!
    My only question is does this mean that in order to make any transaction with an address that is secured by the Ledger, you HAVE to be near your computer to confirm it?
    Also, to test my clarity, I’m assuming NFTs can be sent here too? Works exactly like software wallet except my private keys are safe(offline)

      Hey I'm really happy to hear this helped you! That's the goal - to help everyone truly understand what they're doing and why. To answer your first question, yes that's correct - some wallets will let you connect to mobile apps via bluetooth but not MetaMask (yet). To answer your second question - yes that is also correct! You can send NFTs, and for example I have mine hooked up to OpenSea

    wow very detailed and friendly guide!
    just to confirm: the whole point of this device is so that we can transfer our assets onto it in order for it to be safe. if we just leave our assets on say, metamask itself, then obviously that becomes prone to hacks and breaches, correct?

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you I'm glad it was helpful! Yes that's right - and just to clarify you're not storing it on the device itself (any crypto/tokens are stored on the blockchain). You're just storing the private keys on and offline device as opposed Metamask which could be hacked or exploited. Hope this helps!

    1) So when I add an app to the Ledger, does that mean that I need to originally have original hot wallet apps for each cryptocurrency? For example, do I need a wallet each Polkadot, Chainlink, EOS, Bitcoin, and Ethereum, for example? I’m using an unnamed exchange app but I want to know if I can use it in conjunction with the ledger or if I need to get each currency’s hot wallet and then install the app. 2) When the apps are installed on the ledger and currency is in each, how does it grow while the device is offline? I’m aware that this question points out a flaw in my understanding but I want to know more so I’m asking lol.

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Nate, happy to help out! 1) no you don't need any hot wallet apps, the Ledger could be all you need. To store them on the Ledger you will need to install each respective crypto's app (unless you're using it on MetaMask which only uses the ETH app). To get crypto to send to your Ledger you could even use Ledger Live to purchase directly but I don't recommend this because they charge a big spread. I'd stick to the exchange. 2) Generally speaking the only way you can grow holdings is by staking them (with Proof of Stake crypto). So with something like DOT you can stake them straight from the Ledger. But with something like Bitcoin (which is Proof of Work) the only way you can grow that holding is to put it in a crypto interest account like Celsius/BlockFi/Nexo/Voyager/etc. Hope this helps!

      Hey Tasha, you're very welcome! You can take the assets off the exchange whenever you want, but if you want to sell for fiat (like USD) you will need to send it back. If you do take assets off, any sell orders set will cancel because they wont have custody of those assets anymore. Sounds like you're trading rather than buying and holding, so you might just want to keep them on the exchange. Hope this helps!

    Very good tutorial. I bought a nano x and I have a few issues. First, I add a few different coins but did not allow me to transfer Bitcoin from coinbase, always said no successfully with the address that I was trying to copy and paste. Second, Bluetooth not working, showing paired but not working. On your video, you can transfer to USD but is not on the list of their coin anymore. I have like 14 different coins and they only have 5 on nano X. So I still using Coinbase because they have the majority of my coins.

    • @adamventure
      @adamventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For your BTC, make sure you are using the correct network. Generally you want to use Native Segwit. For the bluetooth, I touch on this in the video, but sometimes it gets stuck. The way to fix is by unpairing and repairing it again. You cannot transfer USD since that is fiat not crypto, did you mean USDC? That is a token which you would transfer to your Ledger's ETH address, and that also goes for most tokens listed on Coinbase. Thank you for the kind words and I hope this helps!

      So just a head up you will need Ledger Live to install the the Ledger app on your device (like the ETH app). After that you can download any wallet that is supported for Ledger. Using MetaMask as an example, which was updated shortly after I released this video - you no longer need Ledger Live and should use the WebHID option instead. These can store all your ETH, ERC-20 tokens, and other EVM compatible blockchains too! If you want to see what that's like, check out the wallet section of my Polygon and Anchor Protocol guides. For other blockchains you can check out compatible wallets here: www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets
